Toruble with ADB/Fastboot drivers on Windows 10 - Nexus 5 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hello there.
I give up, don't know how to continue.
When 6.0 came out there was some trouble trying to get ADB to work on Windows 10, but installing the driver manually got the trick done. Selecting the driver in device manager got it installed and worked.
Well, today I needed to use fastboot, and found that it didn't work. So there I went to try to install yet another driver, and there it all went to hell.
No fastboot driver installed, so I went back to clean also the ADB driver, and now it doesn't install that either. I've tried the google's drivers, the good old universal naked driver with signature off, a driver and ADB/Fastboot installer that there is here in XDA... Every single one now throws the same error. Windows just won't install them.

}
That's the error.
Basically goes like this:
Windows found a problem installing the driver.
Windows found a driver but an error was found when installing it.
And the description is something like:
One of the installers for this device can't perform the installation at this time.
Every single driver, or option when installing manually that I choose, now throws back this error.
Is this something that's already been fixed around here but I haven't found it? Driving me nuts already.
Edit: Ok the problem seems to be with windows itself, so I guess this thread doesn't belong here.

I found that adb and fastboot commands work perfectly on Win7 x86/x64 and WinXP x86. I gave up on Win 8/8.1.

[Q] Laptop not booting. Need help fixing it.

I just ****ed up my laptop. Can anyone help me?
I installed ubuntu on it last year. Since it was buggy, I formatted my laptop to remove it, ubuntu vanished but its grub loader did not go. I neglected that kept on using windows 7. Now, yesterday I decided to upgrade to windows 8. Before installing I opened windows 7's partition manager and tried formatting the 10 GB unpartioned space that was previously allocated for ubuntu. My laptop restarted automatically during the format and now my laptop doesnt start at all. It doesnt even reach the grub loader. Before that I get an error -
" error: unknown filesytem
grub rescue> "
I tried booting into ubuntu using a live disc, it booted successfully and I formatted the 10GB partition successfully. Then I rebooted and now it doesnt even boot into ubuntu using the live disc. I seriously need help now

USB Modem on Windows RT

Hey guys,
for days I tried to get my O2 Surftstick to run on my Microsoft Surface Tablet. I'm not sure if there are any Drivers for the build in
USB Modem (Huawei E173), but thats not the mainproblem. This is that the device has 2 USB Modes. The one is a mass storage device with the Windows Drivers (this is the device detected by Surface) and the other one is the USB Modem mode. The Problem ist that the USB Modem is normally detetcted after installing those Drivers on mass storage. No Problem on Windows 8, but in Windows RT there is no way to install a 3rd Party Software including the Drivers. Without the drivers the USB Modem is not detected and I cant even see if there would be drivers for it. I tried a lot of things, f.e. porting all Software Data and even the Registry Entrys to my Surface. The result ist that my Surface Shows the Software (in my case Mobile Partner) as installed,

}
but detects still only the Mass Storage. I tried some other things, but they all had no effect, so I wrote an email to
Huawei asking for Windows RT Support but they didnt asnwer. I think if we would find a way to Change USB Mode it would
be a benefit to make more Surfsticks from other carriers working.
Please help, I have no more Ideas but would really like to see my Surface working with my Surfstick,

O2 Huawei E173 3G Dongle not working yet, you need Connection Manager installed, but I tweeted O2 UK about it and they are working on a WinRT app and expect to release it soon.

Rooting XCover 4 (G390F)

I've spend a lot of time searching the internet and reading to find a sollution for rooting my newly XCover 4 (G390F).
Also found a couple of threads about this here on XDA doing so, but all not realy with a "complete" usable sollution. So I've tried to collect all the info I could find, hoping to combine it in something usefull.
I found some older topics about rooting the G390F on android 7, but this doesn't seemed to work for 8.1 (my current version). And there is verry few or complete topics to be found about rooting this phone for the 8.1 android version.
It seems that it should be able to work using Magisk, but before doing so I first should install TWRP.
Then I've found this TWRP version which seemed to work for this phone for others. But I got stuck installing this.
I've first tried using "15 seconds ADB Installer v1.4.3" for installing this TWRP image, so first installed all the corresponding drivers and USB-drivers from here but I'm not able uploading the TWRP image this way. There's simply no progression to be seen in download modus. And have to remove the battery to restart it then.
So I've tried flashing this TWRP using Odin (v3.13.1), which looked more promissing in the beginning because i was actually getting some feedback of the connection and uploading procedure. But this unfortunately failed in the end and showed me the following error:
"Custom binary blocked by FRP lock" in red.

I was hoping being on the right way, but seems I'm doing something wrong or missing something here.
Would really appreciate it if someone knows what I'm doing wrong here. Or even better, someone who knows how to root this G390F with Android 8.1, that would be really awsome! :highfive:
I'm willing to make this post complete as a guide then, so it could be of some help for people who encountering the same problem.

I got my windows 7 key yesterday and strangely what ive found out through researched is that my laptop is so old that it only supports 32 bit virtualization and not 64 even though the host system is a 64 bit. Anyhow, I get the same results as when I try to run it through wine.

Finally got some one to let me fix it on their windows 10, easy peasy.
Hey i know this thread is old but:
There's a cross-platfrom implementation for EDL: https://github.com/bkerler/edl
QFIL emulation should do what you need if you already have the required files.

How do I fix API error?

I dont know if this is the right place to ask this. If it isnt, mods can move or remove the post.
I was using an app for months on an emulator with http toolkit. But suddenly it stopped working after its most recent update few days ago. Every time I launch it now, it throws an error "check API configuration"

I was using Android studio with AVD Pixel 6 API 33 Android 13 x86_64
Out of curiosity, I created a separate avd using Pixel 5 API 28 Android 9 x86, and it works on this somehow, but again shuts down if I connect http toolkit to the emulator. If I disconnect HT, it runs. So Im convinced it somehow is rejecting the toolkit connection. I patched it using the ca-certificate from toolkit but it doesn't work.
Edit: Further investigation reveals the app is actually rejecting the adb proxy. So before I pushed 10.0.2.2:8001 the app worked fine. However as soon as I pushed it through, it started giving the error. So its apparent that its detecting the proxy and rejecting it even though its patched to accept the proxy.
How can I get it to accept it? I patched it with the toolkit certificate earlier, however it doesnt seem to be working anymore.
I appreciate any help I get with this.
Never heard of "adb proxy".
