Dear All,
I do apologize for starting a new thread on this topic (I know others have been berated for doing similar) but I have searched and not found anything that addresses the issue that I am having.
My Gmail app keeps dropping its push email function. Manual refresh works but not push. I can get it working again by clearing the Gmail app data and re-setting up all the Gmail settings (signature, notification, etc.) and all works well. However it only lasts for between a few hours to a couple of days before it stops working again and I have to repeat the process to get it working again.
Sending email, and my wife's Nexus S works fine. I have also just noticed (but not investigated it) but the Calendar does not seem to be automatically syncing either even though auto syncing is enabled.
Has anyone else experienced this problem and found a cure?
I also noticed similar Gmail sync issue yesterday. I tried all means but not successul till now. Hope someone comes up with a solution.
Oh, yesterday I got this error message couple of times " Google services framework force close or something like that". I rebooted the phone, and that error went away but not sure if that's the reason for my push email not working well.
Did you ever come with a solution to this? I've found it to be quite annoying.
This claims to be a solution: http://www.nexusoneforum.net/forum/...-gmail-app-has-stopped-syncing.html#post94541
It's written as though it's for situations that it started happening pre-empted by adding additional accounts though. I've only got 1 account and it's tending to happen every 2 or 3 days.
I have not found a "solution" - just a work around. What I have found is that when I do a full Google account sync (Settings/Accounts & sync/[Google account]/Menu button/Sync) it forces a sync of my entire Google account but then kicks my push email into life again for a couple of days without needing to wipe my Gmail app data.
I've just got into the habit of doing this every morning when I get into the office. I took a vacation a few weeks ago and forgot to do it for a couple of days and lo-and-behold my emails stopped coming through, so nothing's changed.

Well that's a better workaround than having to clear data all the time at least.
Thanks!
Has anyone found a solution to this one.
I am having the same issue on an HTC Sensation with GMAIL android app. Basically it works for about 2 days and I receive an email exactly as I receive it but then after some days it stops working.
What I normally have to do i switch off all Sync and then switch it on again and it restarts everything but this is not the ideal thing.
I had this problem before. The only way I found to fix it is to remove the google account from the phone and add it again. Also if you disable the Google account from the Account & Sync Settings and enable it again will fix the issue. I didn't have this problem again but not sure if was actualy fixed from the above steps.
Hi
I did what was said in post and now I am getting replies but I am afraid that this will stop after some time....
In the end for me I had to do a factory reset, the little workarounds weren't sticking.
On 5/19/11 I noticed my phone was getting hot and was not responding when I hit the red key to wake it up. I thought I had an application that was causing the problem so after dealing with it for a couple of days I did a hard reset and started rebuilding my phone app by app.
Well, it didn't take long before it started happening again. At this point I had only configured my email accounts, 1 gmail and 2 other. I thought my phone was about to die (it just came off warranty last month). Then I noticed that tmail.exe was running and consuming ~95% cpu. I figured it was something to do with sending and receiving mail so I went to my email accounts and found that my gmail account was stuck at logging on.
I deleted the gmail account and the problem has gone away. This is not an acceptable solution because I get most of my mail through gmail.
My question is this: WTF is google trying to do now that our email accounts lock up our winmo phones and is this happening to any other os's?
John
This started happening to me as well on my Touch Pro 2.
tmail.exe gets stuck at 100% and when I open gmail it appears to be hung at "disconnecting"
The account works fine if I click send/receive manually. This just started happening a few days ago.

I suspect most people are not savvy enough to realize the problem is tmail-gmail.
Count me in on this problem too. HTC HD2, WM6.5. First noticed something was up on Friday morning (5/20) when I woke up and my phone was dead. Recharged during the day but the battery was still draining and phone was running hot! Sure enough, tmail.exe running 95% cpu. I've just deleted my gmail account, but this isn't really a solution of course. Prior to that, I tried switching over from imap to pop, both via gmail settings and on the phone, but that didn't stop tmail from jamming up again upon manual send/receive. I'm sorry that I have nothing to add except more confirmation of the problem.
this problem was reported first in duttys rom thread.there is quite some discussion on that matter over there.it could be interesting to work on a solution here instead of in the rom thread.
user ny_limited has done some detective work already.maybe he can come over here.
Same problem on Xperia X1 runnning WM6.5 (826x rom).

XDA HD2 thread on this issue.
Just so we're clear, this is a problem with Google. They changed a bit of data within their IMAP processing at or around 1900 on 19 May 2011 EST. This is when the problems began rolling out. Google is the one that needs to fix the problem. It is in no way related to anyone's ROM.
To fix the problem temporarily, you can switch Gmail to use POP3 access instead of IMAP or set it up as an exchange server. The exchange server would consume far less battery than either IMAP or POP. Do a search for the settings. It's pretty simple.
EDIT: Google is aware of the problem and is working to fix it. Check the following thread for updates into the matter.
IMAP access from POutlook is randomly hanging - Windows Mobile 6.5.x
Temp Fix
I saw this in the Google thread and tested it. It works!!
In your mail configuration, go into manual setup and change the server address to POP.GMAIL.COM. Yes, IMAP works on pop address and it connects/disconnects correctly. ;)
EDIT: Google must have made a change because both addresses resolve to the same server. What was once a hard failure every time now seems to work for a while but some are reporting that it still eventually hangs tmail. Let's hope they're rolling out a fix...
Starting over from scratch solves the problem.
Either delete cemail.vol or do a hard reset. Seems that freshly configured Gmail accounts don't cause freezes.
Did this, now my Lion works like a charm again.
Update: deleting, soft resetting and reconfiguring all Gmail accounts also does the job.

I have tried this multiple times since Friday and the Gmail account still locks up after one or two attempts to send/receive.
Yeah, in the meantime i can confirm this. After a few hours tmail began freezing again.
I have this issue too; it's been going on for a while actually, but I have slightly different symptoms; initially it would be stuck at logging on, and I could press send receive to kick start it. At a later point in time, pressing send receive causes it to hang at disconnect. This persists across multiple hard resets, and occurs randomly.
Just this morning I cannot get it to work no matter what I do...
I confirmed tmail.exe eating 100% of the cpu, and there have been more than a few cases of my freshly charged battery near dead only a few hours later, with gmail "logging on".
And to whoever said imap uses more battery than activesync; get the imap pusher service. Uses less battery and you don't have to put up with activesync's crap
Same stuff today, Duttys v25 HD2 RUS. Missed my morning wakeup call, cause of it.
So, as a temporary fix, I created an account at Yahoo! and forwarded all mail from Gmail to it.
Update:
http://www.google.com/support/forum...869ff02960004a41d457a8bf4&hl=en did the trick!
Google fixed the issue.
Hi,
this is a strange question and a bizzare event thats occuring but i am hoping someone will be able to clear this up for me.
Basically i have had troubles with battery life on my windows 7 phone, its a samsung omnia on the orange network in the uk. This has ONLY been an issue since i upgraded to the Mango update last wednesday.
What i am finding is that my emails are syncing every 30mins or so despite being set to manual update only. I added 3 email accounts to my phone each via the windows live account addition option, i set them to each manually update only and only sync email not contacts/meetings etc... the mad thing is the main acount that is used under my people contact and the main hotmail/live account that is in use with the phone itself seems to stick at only updating when i tell it to sync (i have to click the refresh style sync button within the email screen) however the other two accounts after about 12hours start to go haywire and whilst they start out by syncing manual as soon as i have synced them manually once, after this they just update whenever they want too (every 30mins it appears)... i have tried a reset of the phone and starting from scratch but again eventually this flaw just keeps occuring! over and over, no matter how many resets i do
Its a real pain to be honest, when i first updated to mango i did link all the accounts together as there is an option to band all your accounts into the single hotmail livetile on the homescreen, i changed this option and decided against it, trouble is i cant remember if this issue happened then, im still pretty sure it did, its almost like the other two accounts have a mind of their own, is there any explanation as to what this could possible be?
I have tried to a rollback of my current firmware but it ended up bricking my phone so now it has gone in for a repair under warrenty to samsung, maybe it could have been a dodgy install of mango from day one? as my friend updated and he has the same phone yet hasnt experienced this email flaw, but then again he only has two accounts on his phone
Could it be the manual option no longer works in mango update?
many thanks for reading and hope someone can help, many thanks
Hi,
I use the memotoo app to sync my calendar and contacts with Cal/CardDAV Memotoo server. Sync is set to run every 10 minutes, but it never runs.
No energy saving. Battery optimization is switched off. Notifications set to highest priority. Automatic sync is allowed.
I tried additionally https://developer.zebra.com/communi...cation-running-when-the-device-wants-to-sleep
(app is already on whitelist) and https://www.xda-developers.com/android-oreo-background-location-whitelist with no success.
Is there any known issue in Android One 8.0.0 Dec 1st 2017, or any solution?
Thanks,
d.

The first i would look at is permissions
All set.
Have you looked at memotoos web site. There is some help there to find. They have a wiki, forum and online help. For me this looks like a memotoo problem. I have no problem with syncing, but then again, i don't use memotoo.
I asked them several times, never received an answer concerning those sync issues on several phones. This is an Android thing, for sure. In other cases, the operator is very helpful on his site.
Anyway, after doing a full data resync, server -> phone, inside the Memotoo app, the scheduled sync now does, what it should do. Even better, after going into flight mode during night and back to normal mode this morning, syncing starts on it's own.
Thank you for your hints.
Hi everyone,
I've had a Pixel 2 (128 GB), since November. Had no issues until 2-3 days ago, I noticed that under the notifications it says "Syncing mail..." and just stays there forever. I've got 3 different mail accounts (Gmail, Hotmail, work), I've turned off syncing to all 3 accounts but the notification remains. I'm unable to force stop, and the only way to make it go away is to turn on airplane mode and reboot the phone. But the moment I turn data back on the message comes back.
Anyone got any clues as to what's going on?
Thanks.
Had this issue, too. Removed my Outlook Mail Account and added it again... Solved the problem for me.

Same issue happening for me as well......Cleared data and cache, didn't fix it, removed account and put it back, still didn't fix it. Seems to have started after the most recent Gmail app update.
gmail has been very buggy with this phone. Emails come late or don't sync until multiple attempts.
I have the exact same issue on a Nexus 6P. It happened during the Oreo beta, then went away after public release. Came back this week. I have done all of the steps above - still a constant notification. Super annoying.
Same thing here on OnePlus 3 Oreo
It just started happening last week on my OnePlus 3 with Android Oreo and it annoyed me enough to Google the problem and I landed here. I haven't tried anything yet and not going to (too much work to resync multiple accounts) - this seems like a bad app update. Going to wait it out until the next one.
Same issue, some more info
I have the same issue, it seems to be related to work accounts going through Exchange. If you remove your work account the notification goes away. But if I add it again I still have the same problem. It is also only an issue on Oreo, I have seen that OnePlus users are now having the same problem after updating their devices. For now I have configured my work Exchange email to use IMAP, this gets rid of the syncing message but email is no longer pushed, it gets synced every 15mins
Alternatively you can un-install updates from Gmail and turn off auto update on the Gmail app and then add your Exchange account, this seems to get rid of the constant mail syncing message.
Got the same issue on my HTC 10 after upgrading to Oreo, tried removing and re-adding the exchange account and clearing cache and data but nothing gets rid of it.
I am getting this on my OG Pixel. Probably not something Pixel/Pixel2 related, sounds a lot more like Oreo/Gmail APP related (not specifically gmail itself, just the app).
If I had to pose a guess, this is likely Exchange sync, where some function of exchange sync in gmail is causing the app to prompt this constantly. I won't venture a guess what, though I have a theory. In either way, it's annoying and seemingly benign. as in, it causes no problems either with sync or with the phone, but if you're like me and like to have a neat and tidy notification bar, it will drive you utterly mad.
This comes and goes for me, it's not consistent. Usually toggling WiFi on and off makes it go away after connecting and reconnecting to a network. I have an Exchange account added.
I found out that my issue was that I my outlook already syncs with my Gmail, so i didn't actual have to add my outlook account. It was "gmailified" already.
Solved this issue on my Samsung M30s
I tried all the methods shared by other users, however finally I logged out and login again my email account, then restarted the device to resolve this constant syncing email issue.
I hope it would be helpful to others as well.
