T-Mobile is Unlock App Rocks - T-Mobile Samsung Galaxy Note5

Not sure if this can go here but I was having problems unlocking my Note 5 on T-Mobile, I am financing it but I have had it on my account account for more than 45 days and every time I used the unlock appreciate it would error out well I called T-Mobile and I decided to trying while I was on hold and BAM it unlocked, so I was able permanent unlock KY T-Mobile Note 5 sexyness, which is awesome the app took a little loving to work but it did eventually and now I can use my AT&T Sim when I'm out in the boonies.

That's odd - You aren't supposed to be able to unlock until the device is paid for.

I just tried it and it permanently unlocked mine too! Woot!

Confirmed on mine and my wife's phone too. That's hilarious.

I'm disagreeing at all, but I believe they do say in the fine print you can as long as the phone has been on your line for 45 days
Sent from my Nexus 7 using Tapatalk

is this the "device unlock" app from playstore?
I tried using that one and it told me that my device is not compatible.

Confirm worked on both of my Note 5, but not work on my S6 edge

To those who had the app work, are your phones rooted? I wonder if it matters. Mine is fully paid off but was paid for and used very briefly by someone on Swappa. It hasn't been on my line for 45 days yet and is rooted; the app is saying my device isn't compatible.

No I'm not rooted and you cant be it seems and yes you have to have your phone on your line for 45 days or more active

Mine are not rooted. Also, it wont work if you use wifi connection to request unlock.

I don't see any device unlock app on play worth the try , witch is it ?

Do you know if we were to uproot and go back to stock if it would then work since root is being removed?

I'm not exactly sure worth a try.
Sent from my Nexus 7 using Tapatalk

well i bought my note phone in the USA (currently in europe) and they unlocked it for me but with root.
And when i try to use this application it either sais failure in procedure or unknow reason.
the phone is fully paid off... so should i reflash the stock version and then try the application to see if i can unlock it (and yes i have my tmobile sim with me)

How to activate a nexus 5 bought thru Google play on T mobile

Hey all. This may sound like a noob question but I've been on sprint for YEARS and I'm totally new to t mobile and gsm devices (I'm thrilled about the change tho). Anyhow, I'm wondering, what's the process to activate a nexus 5 that I buy thru Google play onto t mobile? T mobile hasn't started selling it yet and I'd like to order it NOW. I already have a t mobile Sim card and it fits/works with the nexus 4. What else besides just popping the Sim card in would I have to do?
Thanks in advance!

That's about it, pop it in and turn it on. Should work right off the bat.

H*ly cr*p! Are you serious? It's that easy? Why the hell would anyone wait for t mobile to start selling it? Also, if I get the device from Google BEFORE t mobile starts selling it, you think it'll still work on the network?
Thanks a lot.

This is awesome news. I just have ONE more concern. If it's not shipping for weeks or something, will Google charge my credit card right away, or not until it ships?
And finally, what's the return policy? I don't wanna return it but if for whatever reason I can't sell my note 3 I may have to.
Thanks again guys!

They will not charge you until it actually ships.
They have a 15 day return policy, but if there is nothing wrong with it you'll pay return shipping.
I ordered it. Yay!!!!! I've never ordered a nexus device straight from Google. So exciting!!!!

This has been answered about 4 times this week alone. All Nexus 5's are unlocked! Your Nexus 5 is the same D820 model that the Google Play Store sell. T-Mobile has not made any modifications to it. No carrier bloatware, it's not carrier locked, no T-Mobile WiFi calling installed, etc.
It's 100% unlocked and 100% the same as the one on the Play Store! Pure Google!

The boot loader is actually locked. Unlocking it is the same as the Play Store model/version. Or if you just want root look for CF-Autoroot.

don't use chainfire to root your phone follow the sticky in general.
There is no physical/software difference between the two. The only thing special about it is that your phone is flagged as a T-Mobile device since T-Mobile knows your serial number (or some other identification number). AFAIK, this allows you to download the t-mobile voicemail app from the play store.

So if I get the device off Google play website I won't be able to use my T-Mobile insurance if something goes wrong with the device? I would save $50 if purchased from google

I believe you will still be able to utilize T-Mobile's insurance. Its not like its an At&t or Sprint specific phone then it would be understandable why T-Mobile won't cover it. T-Mobile sells the very same phone as the one on the Play Store so it shouldn't be an issue.
Note: If you do decide to buy the Nexus 5 from the Play Store then you'll be covered under a manufacturers warranty. Its not exactly the same as T-Mobile's insurance but it will cover any software and/or hardware defects (minus a cracked screen or water damage).

I don't think you can get the insurance if you didn't purchase it from them. I have T-Mobile and I wasn't given that option.

In the past, when I was with T-Mobile I used to always get phones off of Craigslist and I would sometimes send them to T-Mobile for a warranty exchange. As far as I know the insurance is transferable from device to device. Of course it won't be if you have an At&t branded device but if T-Mobile has the device in their lineup then I don't see why they wouldn't honor it and give you another one if you pay monthly for their insurance service.

That's correct, the insurance is attached to the line, not the phone.

Sprint Nexus 5

Can this phone be used on Straight Talk via Sim card?
If so will it be carrier unlocked like my GP Nexus 5 or will I need to have it unlocked?

[Q] Is it possible to buy factory unlocked note 5, root it, then use on Verizon?

So, title says it all. Is it possible to buy a factory unlocked note 5 (like say...perhaps from Ebay), root it and then use it on Verizon?
Yea but you might not get 4glte only 3g, why would you do that though when the Verizon note 5 has already been rooted?

Yah your right I didn't fully read through the comments, u can use a T-Mobile for Verizon I did it for the note 4 before it got rooted and worked on Verizon without 4g, but I was getting really fast 3g speeds at least 10/20 mbps, the note 4 is also a great phone that is rooted on verizon

Thnx. I was considering the Note 4 but am quite frustrated with how Verizon is trying to lock us down lately. While I've had Samsung devices for a long time, I'm now thinking about the Nexus 6P...
I would go with nexus for sure or one plus devixe, but the note 4 retail editions have now all been successful in converting to developer editions witch is really dope, it brought life back to my device.

AT&T phones go here its free and they barley ever check the phones eligibility.
https://www.att.com/deviceunlock/
And even if not att customer, they will still send unlock code.
