Dear all, I need your help ASAP.
My phone (rooted) doesn't boot now, adb does not recognizes, fastboot still ok. And I don't know what to do.
Recently I rooted my Desire S and succeeded with the stock ROM. After a coupe of days I dicided to flash Endymion, from here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1310845
I downloaded Endymion 3.1 into SD, then used Rom Manager to flash it. But then it was not be able to reboot (stucked on splash screen).
After that I rebooted into recovery (4EXT) and formated system, data, cache, boot and retried to install Endymion 3.1.
But then it became worse, now I can't use adb (always says: device not found), normal boots always stucks at splash screen (with green "HTC"). No hard button can be used, I need to reboot by take off the battery, then put it back on.
fastboot still seems working fine if I reboot to fastboot mode, but when I try "fastboot erase ...", I get "remote: not allowed". But other commands (fastboot flash...) still ok.
4EXT recovery is also still working.
Please help me to install some ROM at least. A lot of thanks.
Not quite sure, but could it be a faulty eMMC chip? Since you did mention you pulled out the battery.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1314629
I did have a similar problem before myself.
So can you get into the boot loader? I'm assuming so since u got into fast boot. I would try flashing an update.zip through there, such as a stock from containing recovery.img,system.img...etc.
Sent from my HTC Desire HD using xda premium
Thank you for replies.
@microlah: I think my problem is not eMMC because I did not get those errors.
@stumpyz9: Before trying to flash Endymion 3.1, I made a backup of the rooted Sense 3.0 through Rom Manager -> a collection of *.img files.
I have tried to boot into fastboot, and executed these commands:
fastboot erase boot -> Error: remote not allowed
fastboot erase recovery -> Error: remote not allowed
fastboot flash system system.img -> OK
fastboot flash boot boot.img -> OK
fastboot flash userdata data.img -> OK
fastboot flash recovery recovery.img -> OK
but after this, the phone still does not boot normally.
Please tell me if I did something wrong or not. I dont know how to make update.zip from *.img files, and dont know where to get and choose the right stock rom for my phone.

Are you S-OFF or htcdev unlocked ? If you're still S-on you have to manually flash boot.img with fastboot to get Endymion or others custom roms working.

Are you on hboot 2.00.002? If yes, did you flash the boot.img from Endymion via fastboot??
Sent from my iPod touch using Tapatalk
I used htcdev to unlock, it's still S-ON and HBOOT 2.00.002.
I did not flash boot.img of Endymion. Can I do that with "fastboot flash..." ?
Does it matter if "fastboot erase boot" makes error? (as I posted above)
Could you give me instructions step-by-step what I need to do, thank you.
hi all,
i have some problem like a d_t_kien (i have htcdev unlock dev. and HBOOT 2.00.002, 4EXT Recovery).... so after flash ROM (i try Reaper V2.0 - CM7mod) device has freeze on white HTC screen....
Please help us... how correctly flash Endymion ROM via fastboost..
Thanks
For both of you, here's the procedure. First, flash the ROM normally. Then, enter fastboot mode and flash the boot.img that came in the ZIP of your ROM.

So, I am in the middle of trying to fix my Moto G that is bricked/bootloop.
What happened is that I "accidentally" factory reset my phone using Philz Touch Recovery, after I did that, my phone wouldn't boot. After doing some research on the interwebs I found that since Philz is based of CWM it also deleted the /os folder, so I had to install a custom ROM to fix it. I did install 2 different ROM's twice each (CM11 and Carbon) and still am stuck in a boot loop. (I wiped cache and data .etc before I installed) I have no idea what to do, please help me!

Try to flash your recovery again, IF you cannot get back into recovery..which ever one you are using, flash again and go into the recovery in order to erase cache/dalvik..if you do erase cache/dalvik and still in a bootloop, then most likely you'll need to flash a new/undefiled OS..
There is a chance that a flash of OS could be done without loosing all your data, but a custom FXZ would be needed..
Go down this list and find your device OS..and download..and flash the new/fresh OS..this list is factory FXZ's which will erase your data..
I personally prefer TWRP recoveries..

Now I should flash a new recovery? I am still able to get into my current one.

OK..if you erased cache..then that's all you can do with that..
Reflash your recovery..make sure you have a known good recovery for your particular device..if reflash recovery and still a bootloop..then flashing a clean/fresh OS is the only thing that is left..of course you certainly deserve a second opinion..
If you are concerned about loosing all your data..then there is a way to flash a new/clean OS without erase your data..BUT..it takes a special modified FXZ to do so, and get your device back up..

Bro, try flashing TWRP, it's easier (my opinion) to use... Do you have the .zip of CM11? If yes, make a Factory Reset and install CM11. If it still in a bootloop, instal the stock firmware.

Alright, how am I supposed to sideload the .img for TWRP?
Just download TWRP and flash using your current recovery.. Also you could try going into advance in TWRP and clicking fix permissions..
If you cannot flash a new Recovery using the recovery already on the device.. Flash with adb.
Download a new recovery using a PC.
Place the .IMG into your fastboot folder.
Rename the recovery 'recovery.img' without quotes.
Boot into bootloader.
On your PC hold shift and right click the folder your fastboot is in and select to start your cmd directory their.
A command window should open and type...
"Fastboot flash recovery recovery.img"

I will try and make this simple as possible, this process will get your device back to stock if you are able to get into fastboot mode.
- Step 1: Put device into fastboot mode.
- Step 1a: Run ADB and check for devices.
Code:
adb devices
- Step 1b: If ADB cannot see the device unplug the USB and plug it back in.
- Step 1c: Run ADB and check for devices again, if device is detected in ADB move to step 3, if not continue on to step 2.
Code:
adb devices
- Step 2: If ADB does not detect the device unplug the USB
- Step 2a: Restart the device in fastboot mode
- Step 2b: Plug USB back in
- Step 2c: Run ADB and check for devices, if device is detected in ADB move to step 3.
Code:
adb devices
- Step 3: Start the flashing process with ADB using your systems firmware.
Code:
fastboot flash partition gpt.bin
fastboot flash motoboot motoboot.img
fastboot flash logo logo.bin
fastboot flash boot boot.img
fastboot flash recovery recovery.img
fastboot flash system system.img_sparsechunk1
fastboot flash system system.img_sparsechunk2
fastboot flash system system.img_sparsechunk3
fastboot flash modem NON-HLOS.bin
fastboot erase modemst1
fastboot erase modemst2
fastboot flash fsg fsg.mbn
fastboot erase cache
fastboot erase userdata
fastboot reboot
- or run the bat file for your firmware.
- Step 3a: If you get errors or hang ups at anytime during the flashing process after recovery.img make more than 1 attempt to run the command in ADB. I have the XT1034 and my sparsechunk2 and 3 along with erase cache and erase userdata likes to hang up and then fail but I am still able to fully restore my Moto G. I hope this helps.

First of all run the adb setup file and press (Y) all 3 times.
Next unzip the twrp.zip folder. Then flash the twrp recovery by using the "fastboot flash recovery twrp.img" command. Make sure phone is in fastboot mode.
Next boot the phone into the recovery and select advanced. Then click on terminal command and navigate to the /sdcard/ folder. Lastly click "select" on the bottom right corner.
Now download whatever rom and gapps you would like to install on your phone and rename them to something short. Then open a command prompt at the directory where the rom and gapps are. In the command prompt enter these commands "adb push NAMEOFROM.zip /sdcard/" and "adb push NAMEOFGAPPS.zip /sdcard/".
The command prompt will not show change for a few minutes. After you notice the command prompt is ready for the next command it is okay to exit it.
Now just flash the rom and gapps normally and hopefully your phone will be okay.
**BTW the adb setup program makes adb and fastboot accessible from any directory even without the actual adb and fastboot files.

Hello all,
as the title says, I'm stuck in TWRP recovery after wiping my rom to revert to stock... then realising that the recovery doesn't recognise the image as it's a .tgz file.
I've tried to ADB into it, but no such luck, I just get error: device not found.
Does anyone know a way I can fix this?
I've also tried the adb sideload feature of TWRP to no avail.
Thanks in advanced guys.
Flash the factory image through fastboot. Download and run flash-all.bat (something along those lines)
Sent from my Nexus 5 using Tapatalk
Go to bootloader and run "fastboot devices" and see whether your device gets detected or not? If it does, then flash the factory images. System and boot img files would do the job.
If it doesn't then you need to fix the adb, fastboot issues first. Follow these threads:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/goo...nosing-usb-driver-adb-issues-windows-t2514396
http://forum.xda-developers.com/goo...nt/adb-fb-apx-driver-universal-naked-t2513339
If you have an OTG cable with you, you can directly flash the rom from a usb stick!

Hello, i'm trying to upgrade my rooted nexus 5 from 5.1.1 LMY48I to 6.0.1 MOB30H without losing my data, but at first boot, stops at android logo. I follow this steps with nexus root toolkit:
- Erasing Boot, Cache, Recovery and System.

Any ideas?

Hello, i'm trying to upgrade my rooted nexus 5 from 5.1.1 LMY48I to 6.0.1 MOB30H without losing my data, but at first boot, stops at android logo. I follow this steps with nexus root toolkit:
- Erasing Boot, Cache, Recovery and System.
- Flashing bootloader, radio, cache, boot and system with official .img files from Google developers webpage
- Flashing recovery with TWRP .img
After all these steps, stops on android logo...

Do a factory reset
Do NOT use toolkits!
My first advice is: Do NOT flash using toolkits! You never know what's exactly going on if you don't do it manually. There are plenty of reasons why to not use them...
Okay, now my second advice: Don't flash cache partitions. Caches are built during boot/runtime. However, as far as I know, a corrupted cache partition can lead to bootloops - so it's better to just wipe them before boot...
I don't know what the toolkit did and what not - but try to follow these steps:
1. Install fastboot and adb
Preferred method is via Android Studio command line tools from official source: http://developer.android.com/sdk/index.html - Scroll down to "Get just the command line tools". You can decide between an installer or just a zip. It's your choice.
2. Boot your phone in bootloader mode and execute these commands one by one...
fastboot flash bootloader bootloader.img
fastboot flash radio radio.img
fastboot reboot-bootloader
fastboot flash recovery twrp-recovery.img
fastboot flash system system.img
Click to collapse
Use the proper files! Extract bootloader and radio from latest Google factory image and download TWRP from twrp.me!
3. Boot your phone into TWRP and choose wipe -> DO NOT SLIDE TO FACTORY RESET -> advanced wipe -> cache + dalvik ticked, rest unticked -> slide to wipe
4. Try to boot...
Not sure if it works - but that's the only thing I can think of right now
EDIT: @GtrCraft That would definitely solve his bootloop, but he wants to keep his data Hopefully he heeds my advice to keep his hands off of toolkits!

Then he should do all the ota's instead of flashing the factory image

Don't do full-quotes please.
Seriously? His device is rooted and therefore not receiving OTA (over-the-air!) updates. He'd have to catch all of the zips and flash them manually. So why not just use the system.img?

Because you have to factory reset the device. That's the downside of being rooted and wanting to update, especially with M
I'm sorry to say that you're terribly wrong. I hope you didn't factory reset your device every single time you did an update just because you're rooted! Actually you can use the flash-all.bat file that's provided with the factory image. Just remove the "-w" flag from the "fastboot update" command. This will stop fastboot from wiping your /data partition.
That's what the OP could use as well - however, for his better understanding I listed the commands separately.
For what it's worth, this is the script that I've been using since the monthly updates started (copied from another XDA thread which I've forgotten - apologies to the OP of this script).
Preparation.
- Take a TWRP backup and save it on your PC.
- Download factory image and unzip all files, including the zip within the zip. Rename the *.img files to the names below. Copy all of them to the same folder as your ADB/fastboot executables.
- Download the relevant TWRP and rename to twrp.img - also put in ADB/fastboot folder.
- Copy SuperSU to device (if root wanted).
- Set USB debugging in Developer options & attach to your PC.
- Open a CMD window and check connectivity with "adb devices". If it's ok, copy & paste each command below into the CMD window and run them - the only lengthy one is the system.img.
1. adb reboot bootloader
2. fastboot flash bootloader bootloader.img
3. fastboot reboot-bootloader
4. fastboot flash radio radio.img
5. fastboot reboot-bootloader
6. fastboot erase system
7. fastboot flash system system.img
8. fastboot erase boot
9. fastboot flash boot boot.img
10. fastboot erase cache
11. fastboot flash cache cache.img
12. fastboot reboot-bootloader
13. fastboot flash recovery twrp.img
14. From bootloader boot to TWRP and reflash SuperSU
Start to finish - 15 minutes, including the rebuilding of the apps. No data loss (because you haven't touched the data/userdata partition).
I don't say that every step is essential (I note the comment from experience7 about cache) - but this works fine for me.
Please feel free to amend or correct...

Same problem again. I'm trying all 6.x.x versions but same problem. All commands running without error.
In that case all I can suggest is that you bite the bullet and run the flash-all.bat. Back up all your important stuff (photos, etc.) because you'll lose them.
I've seen it suggested often that you should always do a full wipe when upgrading between major versions (e.g. 5 to 6), so maybe this will fix your problem and give you a working phone even if you lose some data and have to set up from scratch.
P.S. Please "Quick reply" - don't repeat the entire previous post. We've all read it; we don't need to read it again.

Search for a full guide thread. I'm sure you will come out with something.

Excellent advice. It's amazing that so many experienced senior members with all their years of combined knowledge missed that blindingly obvious idea...
Problem solved by unfreezing all frozen apps from Titanium Backup before upgrade.
Thank you!
Hi, so I was messing with the recovery mode on my phone when trying to install a new rom and somehow ended up wiping the os. I actually managed to install the rom, but I don't know what possessed me to start tapping random buttons and that's how it got messed up. Now my phone is stuck in fastboot mode and I don't know how to get it back to normal. Any advice on how would be a great help, thanks in advance.

Fastboot flash recovery, then try using adb commands to boot into recovery and flash your ROM again. Or, try extracting the system.img from your ROM, place the system.img(rename the file to system.img if it is labeled by another name) in your fastboot folder on PC, open a terminal and flash the system.img via fastboot using the following command:
fastboot flash system system.img

Thank you so much. I was able to install the ROM via flash recovery, it was pretty easy. THANKS A LOT!!
