does anybody know if there is a software (for smartphones running wm6) that would allow the phone to act as a universal remote?
something like nevo?
re:
tried a lot of programs that would make your pocket pc like a universal remote but they don't work.. and you have to get a specific code for the model of the TV or AIrcon etc...
ok. not quite universal then. is there something that has like a database of devices? just like nevo does?
the IR driver of omap wm smartphones is poor, so the TV IR does not 'see' the IR beams...
however, the IR dirver from iphone rom is better (this driver can be included in other ROMS, right now I have it on my custom WM6 rom), the TV ir can feel those beams, but there is no software avaiable unfurtoantely..
all the remote control software are for Samsung/intel based smartphone
if someone who knows more about TV ir/ir beams can make such a program for OMAP based smartphones..
try vito remote control it works in wm6
last time i've tried my phona hung.. maybe that's because is for intel/samsung based smartphones
i did try vito but it sucks! anything else? vito has no remote control database.

it sucked, but did it work? i think i will try.
so its really just the drivers that effect the IR? can this be modified in the registry? or is there a cab we can install from the iphone rom? is there anyway we can modify it right now? im using wm6.
Samsung Processors=>accept consumer and IrDa,
TiOmap Processors only IrDa..i still waiting for jears for an solution
here are the IR *.dll form iphone rom
don't know if it work just by replacing the *.dll.. give a try
Hmmm...my Phone hangs in IR Learning-Mode with your .dll...it response..and crash.Maybe a Hardcore-Coder can "catch" the IR-Signal,and "pass" it to an "Interpreter-Tool".But it sounds like to grab deep into the System...
@DSF;
May you provide a Tornado Rom Kitchen? For now,my phone crash "after" the first Bootscren, but in the second Image Screen it freeze again...one step more, sure, but not enought!!
!!!NEW MESSAGE!!!
It seems,NoviiRemoteDeluxe 4.x works with Omap850...but it is for PPC,
hmm, nice :d. have you tried it? use SPhelper for controling or other cursor emulator app..
....and the second app that will work with TiOmap 720,750 and 850...for PPC,too.Ive dumped the files and copy them to my phone, with no response...how sad!!!
Here a Link

which dll files were u using? your original ones or the ones from the iphone rom?
dll
both...first with the Iphone dll, then the original. First my phone hangs (IPhone dll),then it gives no response(original dll).Need more improvement...
sounds like to me Omap processors just wont work. i mean all of the companies that put their money into making tv remote apps for smartphone and pocket pc, and none of them have been able to get Omap working.
besides, i have this box that recieves infrared signals and flashes a red light when it recieves a signal, and when i point my phone at it i have to have it no further than 1 1/2 inches away for it to even see the infrared. i cant see how we can get it to work at a reasonable distance if it's already so close range.
dang that sucks!
Any help for this?? is realy important put this drivers in the wm6
I really badly want to be able to use an external keyboard with my desire. Preferably full size. Is this possible?
Sent from my HTC Desire using XDA App
I have a ThinkOutside bluetooth keyboard, and it works just fine.
You cannot, at the moment, be using a Sense-rom - HTC are using an old bluetooth stack or something along those lines, and bluetooth HID devices (such as keyboards or wiimotes) wont connect.
I am using OpenDesire 3.1, and as soon as i pair the keyboard, it recognises it as an HID device and i can type straight away.
Unfortunately, some other roms (like DeFrost 2.5a) do not detect the keyboard as an HID device and do not work straight away. To get it to work, what I did was install an app in the market called Bluekeyboard JP (free) which detected the keyboard and allowed typing.
Josh.
I use the original rom with froyo, and cant get my nokia SU-8W (HID) to work.
I sent HTC support a note about this, and hope that if enough people do this, they'll include it at some point.
btw. I tried 3 different apps.
BlueKeyboard JP looks the best, and has been reported working on a nexus 1 froyo

i dont have it so can't tell you if it works even tho it says android, wanted to buy it but now im not sure it would be so usefull

there's NO support for HID (so, even bt keyboards) in kernel based on standard rom... so, the question is useless: you cannot pair it with the desire... the only way to make it possible is, as already written, use a rom based on android AOSP, like opendesire... but doing so, you will loose sense... choice is yours...
So, if i flash with OpenDesire i will be able to use a bluetooth keyboard. Any bluetooth keyboard or are there specific types? i don't want to go out and buy a nice one only to find out it is one blue tooth revision too old or something.
You won't get any guarantees here. If you want to be sure, you might want to pay a little more at a store who have a decent returns policy (just in case it doesn't work) or who will allow you to test if it works.
Android uses the bluez software for connecting to bluetooth devices (which is the same software that many desktop Linux distributions use). This should support the bulk of (standard) HID devices.
But then.. I never got Ubuntu to work with my Logitech MX 5000.. you might want to stay clear of the Logitech bluetooth products, as many of the bluez issues on Linux suport boards appear to be about their products.
Thanks for the answers guys. I'll try my best to try before I buy lol.
I wish I find this post earlier... spent hours on the web looking for clues to this. Now I am very happy typing with my ThinkOutside Stowaway keyboard on my Desire with OpenDesire ROM. Then when I don't need to type I can quickly flash and restore to LeeDroid with Sense UI.
But I learned thru the trial process how to adb push files and and how to access the phone on a PC. and the whole concept about rooting, recovery, and flashing ROMs.
Hi, are there any news with BT-Keyboards and the current Sense-Roms?
I would like to buy a keyboard like the freedom touch pro or the previously linked dealxtreme one. But I love Sense and don't want to lose that.

It's not a limitation of the BT keyboard preventing you from using it with Sense-enabled Desire, it's the Desire's Sense kernel which prevents you from using a BT keyboard. Like the guy above me said, used an AOSP-based Android ROM if you want to use a BT keyboard with your Desire.
Sorry, seems that I misunderstood that part.
I'm running LeeDroid v2.2 currently, anybody here who tried a BT Keyboard with that?
Hey, just wanted to post an update:
I bought the Freedom TouchPro Keyboard and it works like a charm with my Desire.
In fact I‘m just writing this Post on it. Just took it out of the box and followed the instructions.
As I said I‘m using LeeDroid 2.2.
Bluetooth keyboard and standard Froyo 2.2
Just to confirm, my no_name BT keyboard doesn't go on stock Froyo 2.2 (first thing I checked after the update).
The keyboard works flawless under Windows XP and Windows Mobile 6.5.3.
Didn't know that OpenDesire supports HID BT. I am considering rooting right now
I've also got a Logitec DiNovo mini that doesn't work with the Stock Froyo.
I might well look at rooting soon too...
Sent from my HTC Desire using XDA App
BT Keyboard workind
*rooted
*wiped all
*new rom OpenDesire 4.0.36
*downloaded 'Bluekeyboard JP' from Market
*tick 'on' bluekeyboard as input method in settings
*connected to BT Keyboard (no_name)
*choose bluekeyboard as input method in textbox
And....... it's working (recognized as a HID device). Typing docs with Docs To Go 3.0 works fine.
Why HTC doesn't support this from the box remains a mystery for me. It would be great for business oriented buyers.
why do you use Bluekeyboard JP?
To connect a Bluetooth Keyboard, any BT keyboard that supports HID (all keyboards do), you just need an AOSP ROM, like CyanogenMod, Defrost or OpenDesire. Then you just have to pair it and use it. That's it.
If you need a different keyboard layout then you just have to modify the keyboard layout file on the phone memory.
Bluekeyboard
Dunno. I thought that I needed Bluekeyboard, but thanks for the heads up. Will delete Bluekeyboard and see how she goes.
No Bluekeyboard necessary
Unintalled Bluekeyboard and, indeed, the BT keyboard still works fine
hello,
It may have been already posted, but i would like to put on my GT3110 a simple & stable ROM without any additional SAMSUNG layer or any other modification.
i've tested the ROM provided by default, very slow and too much stuff that i don't want in it.
i've then tested the CyanogenMod 10 nighlty build, but the Keyboard wasn't working even after having done the clean as recommended on the web.
i've then tested the ROM RomsWell but it contains the SAMSUNG layer.
i'm now using the Paranoid Android 2.51 but the paranoidSettings seems to modify the resolution of the tablet and icons are not positionned correctly when moving from landscape to portrait.
i don't forget how big the work done by all these people providing this for free mainly, but as this tablet is dedicated for a gift to someone not android addict nor interesting in changing ROMs regularly,
So i would like to implement a Google stock ROM with nothing more/less than what is provided by google. even if i loose some performances or other things.
can you tell me where i can find this for the GT3110?
thank you in advance
If you install a launcher like Nova Launcher Prime, you'll find much of the Samsung layer gone. Some of the Samsung apps are superior. Email, Contacts and Planner come to mind. I would call the system easy for unsophisticated users and reliable as well. There plenty of help and a real user manual.
I've been flashing roms for years now and decided to stay with a rooted SGT27. Custom roms, even AOSP aren't that easy to use and there are always bugs.
This .....

If you (or the person its for ) isnt into modding Android, stick to stock. I use Apex launcher (Free) and to be honest they are all pretty much the same. Touchwiz isnt that bad and Samsung stock apps are really cool.
I would suggest updating it to JellyBean stock via Odin/Heimdall or just wait for the official update via Samsung.I personally use AOKP M1 but its a little confusing to set things up at first and needs tweaking.NOT noob friendly at all and takes time to work it out. ( but that's why I like it).
I would be careful giving "Root" access to inexperienced users as they may get themselves into trouble with it....Remember it gives them full access and control of the ROM. I would suggest a start up manager either way ,to stop all the junk starting up when you boot. Samsung loves bloat lol.
If you want pure Android, flash an AOSP no frills ROM.

This does not exist, in fact it does not exist for any device. Stop dreaming of the mythical "clean" ROM that is 10x faster. There is a lot more to a functioning ROM than Google open source Android. There is no such thing as a pure AOSP ROM for any device because its takes Android + kernel + drivers + libs + apps + bootloader + etc. to have a functioning ROM. and everything except the base Android API is device and version specific.
The Samsung touchwiz launcher doesn't slow anything down and if you don't like the way it looks, as suggested above, install one of the good third party launchers and its not even used.
I find this tablet running the Samsung stock ICS to be very fast and clean, So one would wonder what are you doing to it to make it "slow" There's only a few Samsung apps included and unless you run them, they just sit there doing nothing. You can hide them if you don't want to see the icons.
thank you guys,
i'll try the JellyBean standard ROM as recommended and try another free launcher
Specifically for the HTC One S, i'm curious how our phones work with it. If you have, please let me know if you are using stock, CM, or any other ROMs. I'm looking to get maybe the pebble (not out yet) or fitbit. Thanks!
I'd like to know this too. Are there any ROMs out yet that enable Bluetooth 4.0 one the HTC One S?
It works from 4.0.3 version with open broadcom ble api which was here recently http_s://code.google.com/p/broadcom-ble but now it's deleted.
It needs a little patch to the library (does not work without). I have done some little tests last year but then put it out.
New rewritten api is here http_s://code.google.com/r/naranjomanuel-opensource-broadcom-ble/ but not tested.
Now I'm making an app to test things. I can connect to TI Keyfob with Keyfob demo firmware and read battery level and tx level and even get notifications when level changes. Have to add some quirks to make it work
And there is a proprietary HTC BLE SDK which you get after NDA. Not sure if it support this phone, but it's based on broadcom api.
As of 4.1.1 version phone can "see" discoverable ble devices in bluetooth settings, but can't do anything from there.
I'm actually looking for other phones with ble supported, chinese maybe. But I guess we should wait for 4.3 to spread around.
MaximusHD. But i dunno really if this works, since i can barely see any difference at all when i was on sense 4+/4.1.1 when it comes to speed on sharing files via bluetooth..
i am on Magio ROM 1.0.4. i want to pair my Heart Rate Monitor. I can see the device, but when i want to pair it, the message is, that the PIN is wrong. Shame...
Does Bluetooth 4.0 depend on the Android version (4.3 or higher) or on the kernel version? From Linux I know that drivers can be included in ther kernel or as separate modules.
Is there any custom ROM with 4.3+ AND Sense?
Edit: My co-worker has CM 11 installed and his Runtastic BT 4.0 HRM belt works fine.
anyone know that fitbit work and sync with one s (maximus hd rom)?
Hi,
It might be a stupid question, but I was wondering if it is possible to build a ROM with a very minimum features. No phone possibilities, no bluetooth, no gps, no sync with anything.... Turn it to a Ipod Touch like in someways...
I could use any ROM without using all these feature, but by removing all the unnecessary, could it be lighter and faster ?
I am asking that, because I have a aging I9000 and I would like to turn it up to a remote control only. I am currently using it for Spotify, my AV Receiver, XBMC, my NAS. So, actually, I just need WIFI, and maybe access to Google Play to install the apps needed, but it could be done by installing the APK directly.
That's it !
Thanks
