Do I need to do any special steps for having a custom Kernel (Blue_spark) and audio drivers (Viper4Android)? Also, if I do a backup right now and flash it after being in stock will everything be restored back to as it was? Thank you in advance!

I'm not having a major issue but it's something that in the excitement of being rooted and flashing my first ever ROM, I completely forgot to do.
Would it be possible to flash the stock rom exactly as I had it once I finished rooting the phone? I don't want to use it but just want a back up of everything exactly stock before I went ROM crazy. Any help would be much appreciated.

I will answer in two parts...first of all you should have posted you question in this thread: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1213167, wich is actually related to stock roms. Anyway, you can use several methods to return to stock, but you will loose the root access, although you can root it again using the Hack Kit. Check this link, posted in the general section:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1385016
The other two ways to return to stock is using the Hack Kit to revert or Gene Pole's tool:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=952352
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1208507
And of course, you have many roms that are the stock rom with no bloat and deoxed....Please, next time before opening a thread search the forum. All the information is available, you just have to look for it....
After you root the phone with Advanced Ace Hack Kit do a NAND Backup from recovery.
If you already flashed a custom rom without backing up your stock rom, how would you now expect to backup something that doesn't exist anymore?

Thank you all for the replies. I figured I would have to return to stock via the aahk, but imagined there being a rom that's exactly the same as when you finish running the kit.
Since I'm about to return to stock, should I format my SDcard before running the hack kit?

Formatting the sdcard is not a must but in some cases helps speeding the process...
check the roms available in the development forum there are a couple of stock roms without bloatware...that might help you and you wont have to revert your phone back to stock....
So if I want to flash the stock ROM for my S3 and I currently have the bootloader unlocked with EZ unlock, do I need to relock before flashing back to stock? Don't want to brick! I also heard you should flash the stock kernal as well.

ive been lookign into flashing myself and look forward to any answers you get.
Just follow Section 6 of this guide: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1762709
I did this yesterday, and it worked fine :good:
Assuming your using Odin, according to droidstyle guide for going back to stock, you need to flash stock kernel first through Odin then flash the stock rom.

Alright cool yeah that makes sense.
My next question would be... if I have a recovery that I created, and I flashed it, that would flash everything including the stock kernal?
I know this is probably on here already but I did a search and couldn't find anything so sorry for repeating a thread. Can anyone direct me to reverting to stock rom on heimdall i'm using a mac and need to flash back to stock but can not find anything including a legit stock rom link. thank you for any help

Did you make a backup of the stock ROM before you went to a custom ROM?

No that's where I jacked up. But I actually got Verizon to take it back but I still need to flash back to the stock using heimdall. Thank you for your reply tho.
I'm trying to restore the ability to do OTA updates after I've rooted my device. I;ve tried unrooting but that doesn't solve the problem.
How does the OS check that you have rooted the device in the past? I don't have access to a stock rom (Yet) to check if a firmware flash might restore everything to normal.
Hi, thank you for using XDA Assist.
You need to be on stock ROM and stock recovery. Also preferably unrooted and without any system modifications like xposed and such. That's all you need to have to be able to get OTAs.

Thanks for the reply
I am on stock rom, I also think that i'm on a stock recovery, since I never flashed the recovery. I used Kingo root to root the device, dont know if that flashed a custom recovery. I'm also not aware of any modifications.

The question was actually answered in a previous thread, no?

Anyway, XDA Doesn't have a dedicated forum for that device, so either try and boot to recovery and see if it's stock or custom (custom probably is either CWM or TWRP or Philz), or try asking the same thing over at the Android Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting.
Thank you.

Can anyone who has the current "N920TUVS4DQA2" stock firmware for the SM-N920T installed on their device please share with me their build.prop file located in "/system/"? I need some information from it. Would be most appreciated. Thank you!
Anyone? Just need some of the precise device name/build info stuff for a post I'm making on bypassing some issues on non-Touchwiz roms and don't really want to have to flash back to stock just to get it. Thank you!
