Have you tried framaroot?
http://forum.xda-developers.com/apps/framaroot/root-framaroot-one-click-apk-to-root-t2130276
Or try towelroot. Will post links and downloads when I find them.
Also you should be sure to search for the forum concerning your device and there may be a helpful thread with the answer you are looking for. I'm not familiar with your particular phone model.

I also know that kingoroot(or, king root) is tricky because it won't let you use any other superuser app (such as SuperSU etc.). You have to use the built-in kingroot app in order to get root privileges meaning that if you rooted it with kingoroot and then you try to access root through another app, it might not be successful and it would seem like your phone isn't rooted.
There is a way around this but it requires some hacking skills. So if you still have the kingroot app installed you might want to go into it and unroot and then uninstall it to see if any other rooting methods work. If there is an alternative method besides kingoroot you will probably prefer it because then you might be less restricted in the end and you might have a better time using your root.

Hey people, I'm new so hey
Now the small talk it out the way, I could do with some help.
I'd like to know if it's possible (& safe) to root my phone.
I've been looking around for a while but none of the forums and tuts are relevant to my phone.
I know the risks of rooting & understand it's never totally safe, what I meant by safe is, are there any known problems rooting my particular phone/software/ Hboot versions.
I'll list the info below (V=Version)
Droid V
=2.3.5
SenseV
=3.0
SwareV
=2.14.841.4
KernelV
=2.6.35.10-ga76c374

BuildV
=2.14.841.4 CL184593 release-Keys
HbootV
=2.00.0002
BrowserV

Any help would be great, cheers

You can keep wishing. It doesn't help.
Not only you were too lazy to read and chose to open (yet another worthless) thread, but even when spoon-fed the answers, you're still too lazy to learn?
In that case, look at the name of this forum and think again - what exactly are you doing here?!

New to the forum. Got my first smart phone yesterday. A motorola droid mini. They put kitkat on it at the verison store. I have looked but have not been able to find a root solution. i do have a PIPO M9 tablet that I use a rileyrom on. Thanks Riley. I am also a long time Debian user but not a programmer. Does a root solution exist?
Not related to the rooting the mini but I don't seam to be able to transfer files to the phone via the usb cable. Debian Jessie (testing) mounts it as a camera device. I can look at the files and copy them off the phone but not to the phone. Any ideas. Bluetooth is borked in testing.
Thanks
Hi! There's no known root for moto droid mini, x, maxx... Etc ....while on 4.4.2 and bootloader locked. And Verizon won't let them be unlocked. So you're kind of stuck at the moment.
That said, ask the guys in this thread if what's being discussed will work on your model. I believe so, but ask to be sure. It may or may not work for you
...but there's no other options. For now.

I'll look into your other questions in a moment.

Yeah, I'm going to need more details on the file transfer issue. What exactly you are trying to do? What error do you get?
---------- Post added at 11:00 PM ---------- Previous post was at 10:49 PM ----------
OK, searched around.... Debian questions are rare here. I found 2 threads that may help, or as fellow Linux users....maybe they can help if you ask there. Not specifically linked to your device....but i'm sure the issue really isn't device specific....more a Linux issue.

Hi,
I can't find anything on XDA about your device, but one of the first 2 for methods in this directory may possibly work for you.... Use at your own risk of course,
XDA Root Directory
As far as a newer android version goes.... Unless someone stays development for your device, you will probably have to wait for the manufacturer to update you.... Assuming they do.
Good luck!

If those methods don't work out for you, you will need to ask for help here....

Hi, thanks for the answer.
That seems some what dangerous method to root :crying: , but I will see if it will work :fingers-crossed:
Unfortunately I think they wont update it to a later android version. I was thinking if I could update through an unofficial way?
The main reason is to use the apps mentioned in this thread http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2329080 , to remove the buggy touch buttoms, that sometimes when pressing back it also takes screenshots or and reduces the volume, also happens when Im just scrolling the setting menu or in some games, that is really annoying . And to reduce the resolution to see if I can get some better fps in games, though the gpu is a mali 400. But that requires 4.3 https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.nomone.resolution_changer
Rooting has nothing to do with updating... In a way.
Yes, developers can often create aosp roms for devices with Android versions higher than the devices official last version. But I can't find any for your device. And yes, you need root and a custom recovery for flashing roms. So those root methods probably won't help with that.
So it's up to the manufacturer to update you.... And they may have stopped updating your device, or just haven't yet. Updates can come very slow, if ever for less popular devices I'm afraid.
As far as Rooting being risky, yes it can be. Everything we do when altering our devices can be risky. It comes with the territory.

If you want to avoid risk for now, I suggest asking for help in the 2nd link I gave you. ?

I've installed KofilaKernel on my phone, but I'd like to get rid of it completely and go back to stock. The reason is because I haven't noticed anything different in terms of battery or anything like that. I've installed a few kernel tweaking apps but still haven't seen a change. How can I make it so it was as if the kernel was never there?
Also, second question; I'm new to the whole rooting experience, and have downloaded a number of root apps, some of which I'm not sure I actually need. I'll make a list of them, and could you please tell me if I have any taht do the same thing so that I can uninstall the duplicates? Thanks.

I also had juice defender, but it seems to have deleted itself from my phone, funnily enough.
In any case, your help is immensely appreciated.
Hi,
Since you seem to have multiple questions here, I suggest posting in your devices Q&A section. I can help you find it if you let us know your device make and model number.
Thanks!
