Revision numbers - Xperia Z5 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hi,
Im looking to get the Z5 but is there any difference between revision 2, revison 3 and revsion 4 handsets?

Not sure what you are referring to with revisions. You referencing model numbers?

Take a look at the attached picture.

I have the version 3.
because there is also the version 4?

Think my box said 2 on it. I'll check later at home. Maybe it's just what firmware comes pre installed?

It looks like it might be a batch number for example revision 1 being the first batch of phones manufactured and so on.

Could be. I have Rev 4 and got mine 10/5.

Mine is apparently a Rev 2, manufactured in 2015 during 40 (15W40). I got my device on 19/10/15 (15W43). I'm interested to know the manufacture dates in relation to the rev number.

Rev 4 here, how do you find the manufactured date?

Open the SIM card flap, there is a tab you can pull out. It is between the SIM tray and the motherboard. It is on the side closest to the screen.

Rev 4 here.

Revision 3 here..

Does the revisions have anything to do with the camera blur?

Mine is Rev 3 and was manufactured on week 39 (end of sept), and i have the blur on both sides and messed up center (doesnt take a straight line)

Mine is Rev 4 from Taiwan

Could Rev number have to do with color maybe? Also, it's probably best to distinguish between Z5 and the compact when mentioning Rev #s.
I have Rev 2 yellow compact.

I have rev 2, Z5 black, manufactured 15W39

I think rev no has something to do with model numbers (4 models available for Z5). Mine is TW E6653 & it's rev 4 just like few others' here.

seems like all the rev 4 are from Taiwan and the 1 2 3 are from UK, and i would assume most defected phones are from UK....

My Rev 2 is from Taiwan

sounds like you got a knock-off of it and not a genuine tab. Or possibly not the tab 2.
what is the model number listed in settings?
Not so, it's was from carphone warehouse, it's genuine alright, but i expect it's cos it's a UK version or summat. Also, changing connection sorted the downloads out. Which is odd, cos i have two other android devices that work fine with my home network.

Bummer! Would have found that useful!!
Cheers for clearing that up tho
It appears only the us models have the ir blaster. I also bought the device based on the reviews, as the manual is not included, samsung should make a spec change like this clear. Still i love the tablet.
Yup, gotta be honest, for the wedge, it's great. Only thing lacking is the camera but i really don't think I'll be using it anyway.
P3110 has no IR port

I purchased a Galaxy Samsung Tab 2 7 inch 3G P3110 version in Singapore. There isn't any IR blaster port either.
There isn't much use for the IR blaster, not for me anyway. Samsung hasn't released the code for it, so the tablet is essentially a P3110 once a custom ROM is installed.

[Q]One S Black serial number

Hi
I saw that htc one s black has color problem in edges.(s/n : SH23)
I want to know which ones have this problem depends on 4 characters of serial number and which ones do not have??
thanks for guiding me.
First five. SH24T onwards seems to be the redesigned model with no chipping issue. However then you need to start worrying about the S3 chip. I have SH26R and it's the redesigned model and S4. Hasn't got a single chip in 4 weeks.
Hmm... The first 5 of my serial is HT26C.
Am I good or?

no, same Android version installed both of the phone
but, as far as i know, the copy of note 3 didn't have a Gear(Smart watch), just the phone on the package
If price is a lot of different. It should be a clone unit
I would consult a benchmark app, e.g. Antutu, to make sure CPU frequency RAM ROM everything matches official hardware specifications.

Motherboard for N910F

Hello,
I m searching for a N910F motherboard. But perhaps another N910.. can work ?
I'm in france if it can help.
My english is not very good so i don't write a lot of explanation.
Thank you in advance.

Hi, I have a main Note 4 (N910C), and few months ago a friend gift me another Note 4 N910F dead.
I changed the main board with N910C motherboard, it cost me in ebay 99eur., I needed to change the two cameras too, the orginal cameras not run with N910C motherboard, are cheap the cameras. May be flashing firmware cameras were a solution, I dont know.
good luck,
Ok thank you for your response.
Hey.
Parts from one model are not combatible with a motherboard from a different model. It's a hardware issue and can't be fixed with software.
I've to pass from F to T version lately. They are quite the same, but..
you can't flash anymore software, bootloaders, modems, modded ROMs etc. from previous model. Seems evident, but .. I discovered sadly the my software sources become inadequate, only different ROM can be used, often .. few steps behind the generic F version.
I've had some trouble in searching for BL and CP, and many many others trying to adapt RR Rom from F to T.
That was my experience. Better go toward more .. widespread models. F is the best, for me.

Do yourself a favor and find a 910C motherboard. I had an 910F with problematic motherboard and switched it for an 910C one. I had it repaired in a store and at first camera was not working, but they fixed it.
It seems that 910Fs sooner or later will have problems with their motherboard, 910Cs seem that they don't.
Good Idea

It's possible to change a verizon phone (N910V, Qualcomm Snapdragon) motherboard to an international one (N910C, Samsung Exynos 5)? Everything else will work?

Nevermind. I searched. Have to change the camera too. Hopeing there was a 64 bit bug free Oreo rom for that chipset/CPU to make it worth it.

Hi Everybody,
I'm still searching a motherboard for SM-N910F.
I prefer the original 910F version. It is apparently possible to reverse the motherboard references, but if it is too complicated, I prefer the original.
Thank you in advance.
I'm from France and I can send different type of payment including payment in crypto currencies.

UMIDIGI S2 Pro

Has anyone started to work on ROM for this phone, looking at the spec of this phone looks promising, it has a large battery capacity which is great but look at battery test for this phone it looks like stock software is not optimized, so just wondering if the community is willing to help optimize or any advise

the review of low configuration umidigi S2 you can see on Youtube
I've got the regular S2 for a couple of weeks now. It's a good phone with some downsides. Camera is not fantastic but good enough for everyday stuff. If you want amazing photos buy a flagship. Proximity sensor doesn't turn off screen properly while in a call, maybe fixed in future version. One of the major networks in Germany does not work for mobile data in most cases (O2 and Eplus joined and the phone can't handle the "data roaming").
Tech support is non existant. They will point you to their half chinese forums with barely any members that is spammed with press releases. Posting takes dozens of "money" that you must unlock with posts. Very unprofessional but maybe expected for such a relatively small company. There are no service addresses for repairs and the accessories market for that phone is very very limited. Barely any cases or screen protectors out there. If you break anything on this phone expect to get a new one. I have not tried yet but to get replacement parts for this seems near impossible at this point.
Other than that, screen is great for the resolution. Battery life is absolutely brilliant. I can get through a full day with using <40% battery and it lasts easily 3+ days on pure standby.
Wifi has become much better I think after the last firmware update. They are updating the phone but I wonder for how long. This is not a manufacturer that can or wants to support all of it's devices like big ones do.
Materials are good, maybe a bit slippery in the hands but all microblasted aluminium phones are like that.
Screen has a <1mm bezel between the side of the phone and the display surface but I don't care about that.
Build, to me, feels very good. Fingerprint sensor works well and fast. Android is 6.0.1 but I hope they will have an update to 7 or 8 at some point.
I don't care about benchmarks so I can't talk about that, my apps work well. Video streaming is fluid. No idea about 3D gaming I don't use my phone for that.
For that price it's a great phone imho.
Have just pre-ordered this device. Will wait to see what comes, hopefully able to unlock the bootloader and remove any bloatware that comes pre-installed.
It exist a custom rom for s2? I'd like
It has poor camera, other things are very good
What kind of custom could fix in it? Paranoid android?

Apparently it's possible to install TWRP on this Umidigi S2 :
https://www.getdroidtips.com/root-twrp-umidigi-s2-s2-pro/
I don't have Umidigi S2 to test but I'm very interested by the S2 Pro.
Perhaps it is possible to install Lenovo SNAPit Camera in order to improve the photos by flashing it with TWRP ? :

This post was a cut and paste from another phone.
Now the link for the custom recovery is available. I will probably give it a try just to be able to root the phone.
As of today, there is no available custom ROM available for the umidigi s2, although you can find posts on how to revert back to the stock ROM. Those posts are also just cut and pasted from other phones sharing the same cpu

I just tried that and while the recovery installs my phone wouldn't boot afterwards. Maybe because I have the main partition encrypted but maybe for another reason.
Also for me the screen was flipped 180 degrees probably due to a backwards display in this phone.

Still early days I wouldn't personally try it but I'm sure in time this phone will get Dev support , I had some feed back from umi on there FB page regarding update to 7/8 they said there waiting on MediaTek's to release source or sdk as this P20 chip was built around Android 6 at the time and the P25 around 7 that's why pro ships with 7 that's what they said , also mentioned an update coming with a week but more likely bug patch still on Jan 2017 security , not the best look on a 2017 phone 2015 os

Hi
Please check and correct me If I am wrong. According to UMI claimed that the first batch of S2 v1 come with non up gradable processor and hence, you can only maintain at Marshmallow version ie. Android 6 while S2 v2 (so called 2nd batch) can be upgraded to Android 7 (no idea to Android 8???). So guys, please check directly with UMI on this issue. I am thinking of getting the S2 Pro but would like UMI to confirm whether same issue with S2 v1 ???? Cheer s -

Below is the info extracted from Umidigi Forum lately .......
"Quote" They said the first batch of S2 will keep on Android 6 (there will be some updates, but nothing of update to Android 7). So the second batch of S2 and the S2 Pro will come with UMI OS Android 7. Anybody received handset with android 7.0 what date are the V2 or is that just referring to the Pro , mine is due 23/11 ordered 16/11 wondered if it will be V2 model with 7.0. Seems odd 2017 handset shipping with 2015 software .... Phone i received week ago got Android 6 so its V1. That will not work on the first v1 of Umidigi S2 sadly. It's made for MT6757D (S2 v2).
How ever there are phones out there already with MT6757 (Not MT6757D) will be on Android 7.0. "Unquote"
Hope this clear some of your thoughts. Thank you.

S2 version 1 coming with Android 6 and can't be updated to higher android version.
S2 version 2 will be coming with Umidigi OS based on Android 7. Further updates are not confirmed.
