would would guys suggest..i have a choice but i can decide...ive read ALOT about flex 2 lag issue..is it that extreme..??
I had the lg g 3 and now have the flex 2, with the 5.1 update works great, but performance are similar on g3 and g flex 2, maybe (almost for me) the display is better on G3, the p-oled displays are not for everyone.

which one is it better to carry around and handle?
They are very similar on all . the g3 is a Little bit smaller. The curve in the flex for me are excellent to carry on jeans but like the g3 only if you dont use a tight one. To handle its ok if you consider a 5.5" phone its more like a phablet

i have had everything from the G2, flex 1, G3, and now i have the G4 and the FLex 2, i love them both but the Flex 2 is a powerhouse, i would def go for the FLex 2 instead of the G3
I'm planning also to sell my G3 and replace it with G Flex 2, is it worth it?

Flex is fast, good camera - same as the g3 maybe a bit better- and running 5.1.
On the other hand, G3 has bigger resolution, more ram and has many custom roms. At this point, with bootloader locked I would keep G3 (just for the custom roms, everything else is -for me- better on g flex). So.. Think about what you need in your phone and that is it
If you got a g3 your not missing nothing worth upgrading. Save it until something really good comes out. But for the g flex 2 price you really can't beat it.

This is not a common issue at all. Must be something with YOUR phone. It never happened to me nor I've ever heard about this particular issue.
There are some complaints about Flex 2 screen here on xda, but none like yours.
The only thing I don't like on my Flex 2 is the locked bootloader, therefore lack of development.
The 5.1.1 update solved the lag issues as I expected, battery life is adequate, to me, the screen looks gorgeous...
I, personally, don't have any complaints.

I read a few thread that says the poled display have a grainy display and something about colours tending to go yellowish or something when dimmed or over long usage period.

I don't know about"grainy" but the yellowish stuff you're talking about is the infamous burn in. It didn't happen to me on Flex2, but I've got bad case on my Note 2. But I'm using that one for Google Navigation constantly for years.. I noticed it first time after a couple of months.

There is a very big difference in performance between lg gflex 2 and lg g3
The thread is like comparing oneplus 1 with oneplus 2.
i just sold my g3 and got a 3gb ram / 32 gb rom G flex 2. this phone is amazing to handle . i think banana phones are the future . the screen is very bad compared to the QHD on the g 3 but in a couple of days u wont notice it anymore . phone gets very hot , even with copper shim put in .
its a more interesting phone , it turns heads everywhere .
if u can get it at a good price , go for flex 2

I totally agree with you! Qhd screen is indeed in general nicer and better to the eye but
If you want to play qhd content it needs cpu >=sd 805/810 .....though qhd content or 4k is not very frequent.
Youtube in qhd resolution on the other hand is playable even with snapdragon 800.
i never had performance issues on the g3 ( i had the 3 gb ram var with cloudy rom on it ) . played youtube at 1440p without problems . looked spectacular with some kcal adjustments .
the curved screen is more imersive and can be "fixed" using the vivid setting ( makes it more fake , more staturated , more shiny )
How is the display (in terms of color, contrast, gamut, brightness) aka quality in general?
I know that many complain about the resolution; but besides the resolution is the display good ? Feel free to compare it to other devices, even the Moto G2.
Feel free to link reviews that tested the display.
I was a Z2 & G3 user for almost a year and I really enjoy this 720p screen plus the feeling hand's on the device offer in this budget price, very comfortable for daily use

So colour / gamut wise it's comparable to the LG G3?
@Techguy18 It can be,definitely the display is the best part of this phone (Y)
Issue with display
After using the moto g 3 for a week I realized that under direct sunlight or under very bright light falling directly on screen, the vertical lines are visible.I did not have such issue with my previous phone.Should I call for a replacement?

Good to hear. Read some reviews that said the screen was dull and washed out, but they're probably used to OLED displays.
Is it just me or the screen is grainy when in low light and in darker images?
same here, very disappointed in this camera
Yes , it's like a very thin layer of dust or paper is on the screen .

I think this is common with OLED, I've only seen a handful of them though...check out another OLED device or TV in store & check for it.

Is it a common problem or common in all oled? If it's a problem I'm going to return the phone. It's noticeable when you watch videos without light and lowest brightness.
Its common with this phone, not with oled in general.
If its just grainy then you are in luck, mine has clear vertical and horizontal lines.
I believe its called mura with oled technology.
My galaxy nexus a few years back had it way worse and i traded that in after 2 days at the store for a galaxy s3.
My galaxy s3 had perfect screen (to this day it is still perfect except for the cracks in the screen)
Trying to sell my g flex 2 as i have a taiwanese imported phone (h959 red 32gb) in europe and LG webcare refuses to help me with it (and sending it back to vendor will cost me tons of transport and import again ...).
Also LG webcare stated it was normal and even a screen replacement wouldn't fix much. So i was kind of bitter and told them they where 4 years behind on samsung in oled technology if this is normal.
Anyway, good luck with it.

I'm not noticing any major grainy areas, at least it's less noticeable than on my Galaxy S1 & Vita. I unfortunately got one with yellowing along the bottom edge, but I can only see it on light colors.
Also the Mura effect consists of black blotches on black areas, those lines you have are something else.
Sent from my LG-H950
Mura is cloudy effects on the screen, eg yellow spots.
Banding is lines.
I got both and LG refuses to fix it.
POLED

Yes, true, it is common with this phone and not with OLED technology in general. Now, what else you need to note is that this phone uses POLED type of display. POLED differs with regular AMOLED and OLED display technology in the plastic substrate that employs as opposed to the glass substrate in regular AMOLED/OLED displays, hence the letter "P" in POLED. Plastic is used to make the display bendable and this POLED technology by LG is not perfected yet. I do not know if Samsung uses POLED for S6 Edge, S6 Edge Plus and Note Edge, if they indeed use plastic substrate in their curved displays, then your claim that LG is behind in this tech. is true. I think i've read somewhere that Samsung uses normal display tech in their curved mobile displays, but i cannot remember what website hosted this article.
I own LG 55EC9300 OLED TV and i can tell you that LG's regular OLED tech. is as good as Samsung's. This is not straightforward correlation with mobile display tech. since i do not know of any OLED based phone of LG. My opinion is that LG's normal OLED tech. is just fine, just that they need to polish this POLED tech.
Mine's screen is ok on minimal brightness, however it is too bright on minimal and use Twilight. And than the screen is really grainy. But there is no way around it, 0% brightness is too much at night. I hate that. And there is too much white GUI. We need more BLACKS.

Coming from G2 to G Flex 2 I really noticed non-uniform solid colors on G Flex 2 and I found two solutions: raise average brightness (grain is much more noticeable on lower brightness setting) and get used to it. Really, second option helped me a lot, my eyes got used to this screen within a week and now I don't notice it and happy with overall screen quality. I understand that second solution is not for everyone.

Hello,
Somedays ago i bought a LG G Flex 2 but i saw something like plea on display.
http://s29.postimg.org/vtd37hg7p/20151019_165958.jpg
Zoom that photo and you will see some different pixels some lighter some darker.
So please install a LCD TEST app from market and with green background make a photo with another device and post it here or feel free to say your opinion.
Please fast :d
I think that's normal..
@Magician* Can you make a picture like me but with your flex please?
Does anyone know? There is a big difference especially if the screen is bigger and the resolution is not quad HD. If you do not know how to tell them apart, just google pentile vs rgb

EDIT: Answer found, Pentile display for Honor Note 10
Debatable. This is a big screen phone not the typical 5.5 inch ones back in the day. I still want to know if this is rgb or not. I have a mi max 3 and the screen is pretty good
It is almost sure pen tile. As I know, only tab s and tab s2 hase pure rgb matrix... I had and have both tabs. And had at least 15 different phones, also flagships between them, wirh pentile
Picture quality is night and day... You can never get that accuracy of colors in pen tile.

Everyone knows that from the spec sheet. I'm talking about the subpixel arrangement. RGB vs pentile diamond layout. It makes a difference on a big display

Before I made this thread I did that, no answer can be found. I'm trusting the owners of this phone on this site to help find the answer.
Answer found. Pentile display said by Frankie Tech. He says it in his video around the 8:17 mark. He said Honor 8X LCD is sharper than Honor Note 10
Hi,
Me, I have the device for a few hours, and I must say that I find the display really good.
I even tried to downgrade it to lower resolution and it still looks good with no real difference in sharpness. Now, I am almost 50 years old and so maybe my eyes are fooling me... so don't trust this too much. But I'm pretty sure that for "daily use" it is more the enough.
There's one thing that bothers me though : it is that slightly blueish tint it's getting when viewed at about 20°C vision angle. Not as bad as on earlier LG displays, but still there. Noticeable only on white backgrounds It's common "disease" for OLED/AMOLED displays.
Anyways, how can I say it's pentile or RGB ? The link provided explains the difference but doesn't say how to check does it ?
Regards.

It's easy to tell by experience at looking at screens especially on a big screen even on a 5.5 inch screen I can tell the difference/ Oneplus owners have complained about their displays being not as sharp too because they use 1080p pentile displays now imagine this on an even bigger screen like the Honor Note10, 8X and 20X.
The one method to use is to drop bits of water on a screen displaying text and use a magnifying glass then you can examine the subpixel arrangement to determine if it's pentile or rgb. Smaller drops of water magnify the pixel more and largers drops magnify less
This is example is a RG/BW LCD which is also blurry. Notice how this display has the blue in a diamond pattern similar to a Pentile layout. This makes text and edges of icons and pictures and finer detail look blurry.

A traditional RGB LCD has all the colors in a straight line
https://www.phonescoop.com/img/g/489_9cdf1622caf8656bee9d377123e7817f.jpg
I'm fine with pentile on a 2560x1440 or higher display but not on anything lower as it's noticeable
These are pictures of my mi max 3 6.9 inch lcd display. Rgb layout, red blue green all in a straight vertical line. One of the reasons why I picked the max 3 over the note 10 was the display sharpness and accurate color reproduction.
