Possibility of removing Custom recovery using Smart Switch - Galaxy S6 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hi, as most of you are familiar with Samsung's latest iteration of Samsung Kies, the Smart Switch, it is able to "unroot" most of the rooted devices including the Galaxy S6 (Tried it with my rooted G920F). By using the function somewhere in the "Emergency software recovery and initialization" tab, it will opt the user to upgrade/reinstall the existing software therefore unrooting your device.
My question is - has anyone tried using this method to remove the custom recovery (i.e. CWM or TWRP), thus reverting back to stock recovery?

With SmartSwitch you cant restore just the stock recovery. You only can do that with Odin. Either you have the Stock recovery as a flashable file (md5) or you flash the whole stock firmware.

[Q] Your device has been modified. Software updates are not available

What gives? I'm using my P5113 and i want to official stock unroot my tab. So what i did was apply triangle away and wipe to stock ICS firmware via mobile odin (which does not raise the flash counter). I would then upgrade to JB firmware OTA and now when i click for updates i get the "Your device has been modified. Software updates are not available." message. Even if i check about<status it says my device status is custom. This method should "officialize" my tab 2, but what gives? I need it to be Official unrooted stock firmware with no signs of modification. Please help!
Edit:
I once again did the same method but i am now back to ICS stock where i am able to update to JB but i am choosing not to, If i check the status, it now comes up as modified instead of custom. Is there a way to show stock?
Ummm , yeah, stock is stock , get rid of any crapware or root it , it becomes unofficial

Even if i reflashed the official firmware and removing the flash count?
If so is there a way for Samsung to know the warranty is void? The method i follow is said to work from a guide here at XDA.

Are you using Custome Recovery.?
Flash with Stock Recovery. I think it should resolve the issue.

Thats's right if you need back to orginal stock system easiest way is :
- flash it to official stock samsung rom - (best way by odin so it will also put back default recovery program)
- root this stock firmware
- use triangle away to reset flash counter
- flash it once again with odin to stock rom (to unroot it)

I was thinking of doing that but thought it was a dumb idea (i'm always doubting myself). Now that you mentioned im thinking it would work. I'll give it a try and let you know.

This didn't seem to work, i used mobile odin pro to flash to stock again while i had stock recovery. I think it still raises the flash counter. Do you think it would work if i unroot it with super su?
You are still rooted with stock rom? That will be problem. If you flashed with mobile odin pro there was an option to root rom while being flashed if i remember correctly try to untick that option
I can confirm that the Super SU method works. I am now official. Thanks for the help everyone!

Dude,
Follow this procedure.
1 Flash ClockworkMod Recovery (CWM)
2 Root the Device
3 Clear Flash Counter from Triangle Away
4 Do wipe data/factory reset through CWM
5 Install Mobile Odin
6 Extract Stock Recovery (Recovery.img) from Stock Rom.
7: Flash it Stock Recovery from Mobile Odin
This is Pure Stock Rom with Root. You should be able to Update your device with OTA updates

This is exactly what i did multiple times and i made sure it was an unrooted flash vith mobile odin, it still seemed to raise my flash counter by 1.
So instead i did your method but rooted it afterwards and then resetted the flash counter. Later i unrooted the device with super su and wiped data using stock recovery. I am now back to normal.

Cannot unroot N8010

Hi,
I am currently having trouble unrooting my N8010 Note.I did the method of downloading stock ROM and flashing it in Odin PDA tab.Everything went successfully with the green success message. However when it reboots, instead of a new clean factory ROM,it is still my current ROM with all the apps and wallpaper still present.but when i opened Adaway,it says that SU binary not found??which means root is not present??
Upon checking download mode:
Custom binary download: No
Current binary: Samsung Official
System status: Custom
I retried reflashing 3x..still the same, I cannot get a fresh stock ROM...Help??
If it says the su binary cant be found then you have unrooted. but if you have a custom recovery its not going to be official.
The most reliable method ive found to get it all to stock and official is: root your device, use odin to flash the stock recovery. use triangle away to reset counter (thats why you need root). boot into recovery and factory wipe. use odin to flash stock image. should be totally stock like the day you bought it.
There are other ways but this has never failed for me
Hi,
I kept stock recovery, did not install custom recovery.
Right now i seem to be neither here nor there.By right when i flash stock ROM using PC Odin i shld get a clean ROM.But right now i am still stuck with current ROM with device status as "Custom"

You need Triangle Away .
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1494114
I now have problems rooting..
When i re-root using cf auto root..everything well smoothly..BUT there is no SuperSU.I also can't download it off playstore as it is always loading and loading.Cant check for root access too!!
In summary:
-Tried to unroot by flashing stock ROM,however Stock ROM did not get installed, instead still current ROM and lost root in the process
-Rerooted now triangle-away but same as above:
Custom binary download: No
Current binary: Samsung Official
System status: Custom
Must i do anything to make it back to official before reflashing stock ROM?Or flashing a stock ROM will make the it back to Official?
Run TA
Reboot flash stock rom via Odin
Factory reset
Flash stock rom again if the two indicators are modified

4.4 i535 Need to restore stock recovery

I used rom manager to install cwm. It said it was successful, but now i get the "Verizon has detected unauthorized software" when i try to boot into recovery. Can i safely install stock recovery. If so, what is the safest method?

I think this is caused by bootloader, locked by 4.3 update. I do not know the answer to your question, however I have an additional one to whoever knows the answer: is there any custom recovery at all, which is known to properly work on 4.3+?

If your on the locked bootloader 4.3 ML1 the only custom recovery option you have is safestrap, no cwm, twrp or philz
From my CM11 S3
but i actually used rom manager to flash the custom recovery and it said ti was a success. but when i try to enter recovery i get the Verizon error. i need to know if i can use safestrap or any other method to flash the native recovery back, so i can use the stock recovery.
or am i getting the Verizon error because i rooted my phone?

If you have Odin installed on a Windows computer, flash the VRUDNE1 tar in the PDA slot. This should restore your phone to stock, VRUDNE1 4.4.2 stock firmware. You also will lose the data on the phone itself so choose your download wisely.
Download Odin from this post. Run Odin on your Windows PC, select PDA, then find the VRUDNE1 4.4.2 tar that you should have downloaded. Odin only flashes .tar or .tar.md5, it will not flash any files with anything else.

'Unrooting" Samsung Galaxy S5

I rooted my Galaxy S5 a while back (using Chainfire's ROM) and may now be looking to trade it at CEX. Because of this I want to restore the operating system back to Samsung's standard software. I have downloaded this from Sammobile and have ZIP file G900FXXU1BNL2_G900FXEO1BNL1_G900FXXU1BNL2_HOME.zip
This looks to contain all the necessary files but I can't find any way to install this using Odin as this requires a TAR or MD5 file extension. I have tried using KIES to reinstall the Samsung firmware but this has been superseded by Smart Switch which does not pick the phone up when I put it in recovery mode. All the instructions I have found talk about using Odin to reinstall the stock Samsung furmware (I am using Odin 3.10) but I can't see how to do this.
Anyone have any walkthoughs they could give me?
Thanks
Dave

Is it possible to flash stock firmware eventhough I installed TWRP?

Hi Guys.
I've reached a state of confusion reading about OTA-updates, TWRP and root. My question question is this:
I installed TWRP, flashed the verity opt encryption kernel and rooted my G930F. Everything works and all is good. But with the new Chainfire AUTO-ROOT (is it X.72?) OTA-updates has been disabled.
I'm confused about the reason for this. Does this mean that I risk bricking my phone if I at some point in timez deside to flash stock rom via ODIN? Or will this just replace TWRP with original recovery and overwrite root?
Sorry for my noob-mind. I'm new to Samsung devices.
Best regards.
If you flash stock rom via Odin TWRP will be deleted and stock recovery will be installed. You will also lose root privileges. Make sure you have a backup before flashing stock via Odin. Once restored stock rom via odin follow same steps you took the first time you rooted your phone.
