Any sign of the Opera Mini browser being ported across? Obviously there is a version for the Gear S but no mention that I can find of it for the S2
I really hope someone ports it eventually - even on a small screen, it would be useful.
Bump.
Any browsers at all?
I was thinking the same thing so much potential with this watch I would love to see this baby run android wear/ tizen...

Seems kind of fishy to me. It treats the gear s2 as if it was a phone, and no where does it mention Tizen. Anyone try this yet?

This thread should really get some attention being that I have the 4g one from T-Mobile and paying 5 dollars a month for 500 mb and can't use em I would gladly pay for a browser on this bad boy ...
I can see why they have not released it with a browser, as the user experience would be quite poor. However it would be useful for some people. For me, guest WIFI networks often require web browser login, so you can't use your watch on them, so I was looking for a browser.

Has anyone heard of such a thing or thought about developing one for it? I know the iPhone has one, which makes me sad if they do and we don't.
I was searching for the exact same thing. Sadly, there is no iSlsk for Android, but there are some awesome alternatives.
TubeDroid - It downloads audio/video from a YouTube video. It works flawlessly. Just search for the video, then choose "Download Audio", and after downloading, the .mp3 file will be active in the music library. One thing, the app is commercial, but that shouldn't be a problem. PM me.
iMusic - It's a free [sort of] app. Works just as Slsk does. Trying it out, but it works. It's off the market, but you can go to the developers site [greencode.me] and scan the QR code.
It's free to download, but the free version of the app only gives you a limited amount of search results. Just so you know.
Music Junk - Some people recommended it. I'm not sure how it works, but theres only one way to find out.
That's it. I mostly use TubeDroid for everything, but having an alternative is always good. Take care.
tubemate is on the market, and its free, and constantly being developed and improved.

None of the options above mentioned are soulseek native client with all its inmense data base of songs....
+ 10000! Please, anyone can develope an apk that connects us p2p with soulseek, the hugest music data base of the planet?
Help to make android the best OS! It's true that ios had a soulseek client via Cydia, it was developed by an Argentinian geek when the ios was in its 3.0's. But he stopped to do it unfortunately, this is the only implement I've seen that has ever had an iPhone but never has had the Android in its glorious short history ...

There seems to be a solution here http://labs.qt.nokia.com/2011/02/28/necessitas/ but it is beyond my level. Maybe someone here that understands all of this can help port SoulSeek over to Android or something. :fingers-crossed:
Try GoSeek.

okay, so I have been a fulltime Soulseek user since it's inception.. what 11 or 12 years ago now. I even still use the original client. I have been searching for a proper client since my first Android hack on my Sony Xperia x10a. That's when I first came across Goseek. It cost $2.00, and it seemed so experimental by the actual description that I just never bothered.
For me SLSK isn't just about the music database. Of course it's immense, yes but its the users , and the rooms that make slsk what it is. So I am looking for that in my client, not just a music downloader. its the community. the friendships, the rooms are the soul of the little bluebird. I am going to check out this Goseek now, as it is free now. I will let you know my opinion soon ok. cheers

There are now soulseek clients, both official and unofficial.
The official one is basically slsk qt, and the unofficial one is goseek.
However, although both installed apparently correctly, and all the onboard functions and features appear to work, when it comes to finger tapping on the desired search result/s to begin the download of music file, however much u tap that finger on your screen, nothing happens.
Not even a notice to tell you there is a "fail" somewhere or anywhere in the process.
I am only guessing when I say that unlike my favourite soulseek client, soulseek nt, which only need be installed on a pc or laptop, username and password entered, and voila (firewall may need opening), and it just fully works. No (for non-experts) time consuming port forwarding needed.
So yes, apps exist, but for myself, but NO, THEY DONT work for the average. User, and perhaps don't work for anyone.
If anyone has advice for a "non-geek", will u please let me know know?
Thank you.

I know it's been over a month now since your post. Did you find a fix for GoSeek via Nougat?
Of course Iphone has one, they always get everything and android gets left in the dark, fast forward 7 years later and literally, nothing has changed.
Whoever said goseek works perfectly, clearly has an eye for unfinished garbage thus the android world we live in. Sad when you cannot do something as simple as set a custom path to your music sharing folder which for me is /storage/emulated/0/music but goseek insists I use /storage/emulated/0/goseek even though it is empty, and scanning for media is absolutely useless.
There is no official slsk qt for android, don't know where anyone is getting that from. As for the unofficial goseek it is quite non-functional at best and as mentioned above has been abandoned for some time now.

I don't agree at all. Goseek was messy and poorly designed, a lot of work to do it had. And the worst is that it crashes from Nougat onwards.
But before it served me to download countless of music on my mobile when I was away from my pc.

So I recently got HBO and was disappointed to see that the HBO GO app didn't support HDMI out. I thought this strange since I had never seen anything else that didn't support HDMI out, so you would think HBO would be able to figure it out if everyone else did. I looked around to see if there was an update or patch or something to fix it, but wasn't able to find anything. I'm not a programmer or anything but I figured why not take a shot at it myself. So I read a few tutorials and here's what I came up with. httpsCOLON//wwwDOTdropboxDOTcom/s/zlyfr07gg5p58p2/com.HDMI-HBO-1.apk. I have a Droid 4, so I know it works on Motorola phones. I think it should work on all other phones too, but I only have the one phone so it hasn't been tested on any others. If it doesn't work on your phone, let me know and I'll see if I can fix it. Also, you might have to be rooted, I'm not really sure. You're welcome, HBO. I fixed your program.
P.S. I don't have Cinemax, but the app was nearly identical, so I did that one too. httpsCOLON//wwwDOTdropboxDOTcom/s/g04dsiia81w035o/com.HDMI-MAXGo-1.apk. Let me know if it works.
Update:
Here are the updated HBO and Cinemax apps. Also by request, NFL Mobile. The MAX Go app, I believe, still does not support tablets.

NFL Mobile https://www.dropbox.com/s/tpfg8cayb05x5sp/HDMI-NFLMobile.zip
-This one is a flashable zip file. To install, place this file on your SD card, boot into Clockwork or Safestrap, or whatever recovery you use, go to your update/patch menu, toggle signature verification so it is disabled, then choose to install the zip from your SD card

Update hbogo and maxgo work flawlessly on my droid 4 and my android mini pc is setup like a tablet the hbo app automatically senses this and changes the look for easier navigation since i lack a "menu" button. The maxgo app look like its phone only and would not work, i have heard of a tablet version of maxgo maybe through amazon? Anyway if you could apply your mod to the tablet version of maxgo then you will have successfully done what soooo many havent been able to do or havent publicly released. As it stands with a phone hbogo and maxgo work perfect hdmi out enabled, hbogo for tablet mini pc is perfect hdmi out as well. All that remains is making maxgo available for tablet/mini pc. You sir are a gentleman and a scholar let me be the first to thank you for this

I'm also wondering if you just got the normal popup that says HDMI is not supported or something else. Also, am I correct in assuming that SGS is Samsung Galaxy? I'm fairly confident that I can get it to work, but as I mentioned, I don't have a Samsung phone to test it on so I would need a little feedback and maybe someone to test a few things for me.

What's the point of it? Does it have any advantages over other IM solutions (such as WhatsApp)?
I don't see any use of it. Atleast WhatsApp and Viber picks contact from our phone numbers. This seems useless. The UI looks quite appealing only.

See, I think we should leave them out in the dark, cold and alone; as a way to gently shame them into upgrading to a device that doesn't suck. =)
I got it to see what the fuss is about, but couldn't agree more with the other statements in this thread, in my opinion, it's too little too late, had it have been before the advent of whatsapp and the like, perhaps it may have been relevant. But now, a service like bbm holds no weight when there's already a few, well established multi-platform services that do the same thing.

Thanks for the replies guys. I can confirm the work around works if you have an Amazon.com account but I haven't been able to use the work around on the .co.uk side of things...... I know many tablet manufacturers provide emulators to allow software to be developed.
It would be great to understand what process of identification that allows the KindleFire to play the content.
Yeah I've never seen an android emulator that runs within android. Not sure how to get around your issue... The good news is amazon will eventually release instant video for android... Just a matter of when..

I saw something about Petal search on Facebook and decided to download it to see what it was about it looks pretty good tbh that everything is under one roof the only thing i am wondering is has anyone had any issues with a specific apps not updating properly?

I found the same thing with outlook. Didn't really see it as a massive issue due.

You can always just use the preinstalled email function? saves really needing to download anything else?

I haven't had this issue. Things like banking only update every 6 months so it will probably be a while.
petal search is the best thing to use going forward, has everything you need without needing to download more app stores.

I went into my halifax yesterday and it seems to have updated in the background rather than through petal search.

I cant see how apps are gonna take awhile to adjust though, whether I buy bread from Tesco or Sainsburys its still bread, I don't know if that's an awful way, but instead of going into one app I go into another lol #simples

I 100% get your point. it was more the way of getting apps i meant, Probably didn't make that clear. I feel petal search is completely different to play store.

Having used petal for a few days now. I really like it, I like that there is an integrated browser in it. I don't know why Huawei are not shouting a lot more about this.

I have now denied to go for the pre installed email app now. I feel that it is a lot more fluid than outlook.

the browser for me works really well, it runners smother than chrome with no lag between loading pages which annoys me lol

Default Email app has improved a lot since my P10, hopefully they'll add a "Focused" and "Other" tabs further down the line.
