Fastboot OEM Unlock command - ONE Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I'm thinking about unlocking the bootloader, installing TWRP, and root my Oneplus one. I was wondering, what exactly does the "fastboot OEM Unlock" command actually do? I know it deletes data, but does it delete everything, but also the sdcard? Everything is backed up using the "G cloud" backup app. So am I all set to run the command?

How to Re-Lock GPE?

Like an idiot i bought a GPE and didnt realize its not 4g, and has issues w/ tmobile. Then unlocked it soon as I got it.
How do I re-lock it? The command does not seem to work
I am always Given "Failed to validate system image"
Anyone? Beuller?
You'll have to first start by issuing the command 'fastboot oem lock begin' while booted to the bootloader.
Then find the procedure to flash the stock firmware to the GPE and do that.
Then after that is finished issuing the command "fastboot oem lock' and it will relock your bootloader.
However once the bootloader is unlocked it is not set back to 'locked' once relocked; It is set to 'relocked', so they could possibly still tell the difference if they are paying attention.

I tried that, thats when I get the error I mentioned above.
You'll probably need to use mfastboot.exe instead of fastboot.exe. Which one are you using?

mfastboot.
Is it possible it has to do with the fact it got the 4.4.4 update?
Any help would be great. If not then I'll just try and resell it.
Someone must have something I can try.
WHen i to to restore I get this message on these files
mfastboot flash partition gpt.bin - Version downgraded for primary_gp
mfastboot flash motoboot motoboot.img - Version downgraded for tz
mfastboot flash boot boot.img - Version downgraded for boot
I'd love any input at all.

[Resolved] fastboot erase boot/bootloader

Hi, I am relatively familiar with fastboot commands having had many android devices on which I had unlocked the bootloader but I haven't really found clarification on the difference between these commands.
I understand that boot and bootloader are different but how and will wiping one wipe the other as well, I also know that the command fastboot erase bootloader should NEVER be used.
So what is different between boot and bootloader.
Never mind I think I have resolved the issue if anyone else is confused.
Boot is where the kernel and files that the system has to boot are stored whereas bootloader is where the file that boots the boot.img files is.
Once again NEVER use the command fastboot erase bootloader

Stuck in fastboot with locked bootloader

I have a serious problem: my device's partitions are all erased and formatted and the boot loader is locked which is why I can't install a recovery or anything else. fastboot oem unlock doesn't work for any reason. It just boots and does nothing. After entering fastboot again it says it's locked.
The alternative method with adb doesn't work as I don't have a recovery nor do I have a system.img on the device. I can only enter fastboot now and flash the radio. How can I flash stock CM11S now? I need to unlock the bootloader and fastboot won't let me!

Guy with a similar problem, who found a solution... Give it a try!
How on earth did you manage to erase all the partitions?

[Q] how to relock the bootloader on a5chl

I need to relock the bootloader so I can flash the RUU. I accidentally deleted my backup of stock and now my GPS doesn't work. Basically, I want to flash the stock ROM, copy the GPS files, and put them on my phone with the CM12 ROM. CM12 destroyed my GPS. I tried typing ./fastboot-linux oem lock and it said permission denied. When I tried to sudo the command it didn't recognise the fastboot command. Does anyone have a stock ROM or know why the terminal won't let me relock the bootloader?

Stuck in fastboot mode and twrp can't mount internal partitions

Hi,
So, I'm a bit new to this device and also helping a friend so not sure what actually caused this, but here is the issue I am having.
Whenever I turn on the phone, it boots only to fastboot mode. This is also true whenever plugging the charger to the phone.
Bootloader is still locked, and trying to flash stock rom using pc tool or fastboot shows that it is successful but has no effect. I've tried this multiple times.
I could boot directly to twrp, using fastboot boot and twrp shows that it can't mount any internal partition.
Issuing df command from twrp shows no partition other than tmpfs. Mount shows similar output, with the addition of recovery partitions.
Anything I could do about this phone?
Bootloader never locks in mi4i.
Try flashing TWRP instead of just booting into it
use
fastboot flash recovery twrp.img
After flashing, allow modifications
and repair file system for system and data partitions to ext4 from wipe menu

Well, when I check in fastboot oem device-info
Device unlocked is false.
Doesn't that mean it's bootloader is locked?
Also I did tried flashing TWRP, but it won't stick. After reboot the modification just seems gone.
Mi4i bootloader is unlocked by default as far I knew. Did you try
fastboot oem unlock
to unlock it?
Did repair file system not work when you tried it from twrp?
