Bought new Xperia Z3 Dual D6633 with lollipop 23.4.A.0.546... Want to Root it...!!! - Xperia Z3 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hi guys.. I bought the new xperia z3 dual d6633 phone. It came with lollipop 23.4.A.0.546. I already made the a pre-rooted ftf build using PRFcreator on the latest lollipop build available. But when I was about to root, I came to realize that I would need a working root and Dual-Recovery manager installed on my phone to flash the pre-rooted latest build. I searched across the internet but its quite old and confusing. Here I believe as our fantastic experts on xda-forum, will know everything for everything got to do with the Android world. Please buddies help me out. I would be humble thankful to you. :fingers-crossed::victory::victory:

Google is your friend. You have to downgrade to kitkat, use giefroot tool to root, then install recovery and finally flash your PRF.

It was much to have my post left only seen by the visitors but not left with a useless junk comment like yours. You came like a tornado, left a piece of junk and then simply flew past like lightning struck the tree and people never knew what burnt the tree. Neither you pinpointed where I will get this tool and secondly you didnt even bother to give the exact Kitkat build number to flash before even attempting to root using Giefroot tool. Anyways. I did find out myseld the giefroot tool and for you pathetic knowledge, it is stated that the tool doesnt even bother to work on the kitkat version i downloaded and flashed on my Z3 Dual D6633 phone. It's always giving me error that ADB server is out of date and killing. Will you bother yourself explaining to a noon like me to figure out what to do next when stuck in the middle of such a mess. Any further detailed elaboration would be highly appreciated by me. Thanks.
here is the screen shot for the error.:crying:

@noob_coder
Look, its not my fault you cant read. The first post in the giefroot thread says to use firmware from October 2014, and as for my pathetic knowledge, ill take it elsewhere and let you figure out what you have done. A bit of advice though..... Read read read before you do anything.

Try downgrading to 5.0.2 and then root using kingroot and then install recovery. Then flash a prerooted rom or stock based rom.:good:

Samsung Galaxy Note 3 Dual Sim Thread - Note 3 n9002

Ok, since the old thread was plagued with paid roms, and it got archived unfortunately, I'm creating a new thread. Let's keep this healthy and clean so the information we post here wont get removed and will help more people in the long run shall we?
Update: May 3, 2014 - Added fix for Caller ID issue!
Update: May 1, 2014 - Added instructions to turn off Google Account Manager after setting up a Google Account
Update: April 9, 2014 - Added instructions to install super su after flashing new firmware and rooting.
Update: Feb 17, 2014 - Added instructions to turn off Google Bookmarks Sync after setting up a Google Account
Useful links:
How to Install/Flash Google Apps on Galaxy Note 3 N9002:
http://marrkdaviid.com/2013/10/install-google-play-on-the-samsung-galaxy-note-3-n9002/#.UsRALJYYYuo
** Please note that if you are using windows 7 to root the device using cf autoroot as instructed in the link above, you will encounter an error halfway thru the flashing process. You need to run odin 1.85 as windows xp to remedy this.
** Please note that after rooting and flashing google apps thru cwm, you will still have root access but the super su app may get lost. If that happens, please install super su from the google play store and everything will be back to normal. - thanks bigstuart for pointing that out
To fix the gapps error we see everytime we turn on the sync shortcut from the pulldown notification bar:
After setting up your google account, go to the settings menu and turn off the google bookmarks sync app. This will fix the google services has stopped error message.
To fix the google account dropping out (having to set up your google account again) turn off the google account manager app from the settings menu. Three users have confirmed this has fixed the issue.
BigStuart was able to finally find a way to fix our caller ID issue. Here's how to get it done:
Edit /system/csc/others.xml
change
Code:
<CscFeature_RIL_CallerIdMatchingDigit>11</CscFeature_RIL_CallerIdMatchingDigit>
to
Code:
<CscFeature_RIL_CallerIdMatchingDigit>-1</CscFeature_RIL_CallerIdMatchingDigit>
and add the following line:
Code:
<CscFeature_Contact_EnableDynCallerIdMatchingDigitWithAutoSim>TRUE</CscFeature_Contact_EnableDynCallerIdMatchingDigitWithAutoSim>
I added that line at the end of the file, before the closing </SamsungMobileFeature> tag.
Then reboot the phone and test caller ID
Lastly, enjoy your dual sim flagship device

thanks for making a new thread... am really interested in the n9002 but having second thoughts that i have to root it and it will have no samsung warranty. can i ask those who are using it now... (will use it if ever in the philippines)
1. once rooted and google play install do one need to root again if you hard reset your unit?
2. does rooting trip knox?
3. is there much chinese bloatware that you cannot delete?
4. problems encountered the unit being released only in china?
Am in philippines, note 3 dual sim. Without root when i tried install google play knox is tripped. I rooted and running google full service now. Excellent phone buy it

Good thinking on this Thread. The archived thread had some links to removing bloatware and dealing with issues like changing CSC. Wish they didn't delete it. Now we have to re-search and save them all over again.

1. once rooted and google play install do one need to root again if you hard reset your unit?
Shouldn't. I have rooted using RDLV and have reset w/o loosing root.
2. does rooting trip knox?
It did on mine. But there seems to be some who have done it without tripping Knox. Check the forum.
3. is there much chinese bloatware that you cannot delete?
Once you root you can remove almost everything. Search the forum for a list of prog you can safely delete.
4. problems encountered the unit being released only in china?
None really. You can add Google apps, ie Play, Mail, Hangouts, Calendar. If you change the CSC settings, you will be able to set your default search, calender, etc. But read up on how to do that first, you need to back up as it will cause a reboot and loss of data.

Who gives a crap about knox anyway? This is a phone from China, if you will import it to another country, it will not have local warranty. You are not gonna send it to China if ever you need it repaired right? So go ahead and root, flash google apps, and remove all those chinese crapwares.
Im driving right now, but if needed still, i will post a link for a guide on how to do the basics in turning the n9002 to something as close as possible to n9005.

What, the last one got archived!? It was a bit long but got me off to a start and the RIP made it even better. Anyway, I best not mention that.
Well I have checked back because today I just added my 2nd sim. That's 1 Unicom, and 1 China Mobile (some westerners do live in China). It's working and the beauty is: Unicom's data seems good, but China Mobile 's national and international call rates seem better.
I am still interested in getting the best out of my N9002. I am still having a few issues and it's hard to know if they are ROM based or other. Anyway, minor issues, this phone is the best I have owned.

What kind of issues are you getting? I am on stock (mk1) firmware, perhaps we can compare what were experiencing so we can determine if its rom related or not.
Guys i also installed xposes framework and now my gmail and chrome beta is tablet mode cool. Remember is theee are gapps error it usually means the app u running must be uninstalled and reinstall as it could have the old xaxhe prior to installing google. Fellow dual sim note 3 users, now that samsung's 4.4 update is right around the corner, i am starting to look around how we can get the 4.4 update working on our phones.
Im thinking once samsung releases the 4.4 firmware, it will be on sammobile for sure. I will download and flash it on my phone. Naturally, i will lose root, and google apps. I will have to root and flash google apps again. Question is, where are we going to get the 4.4 gapps package? I found this site and it also contains the 4.3 gapps that was listed in mark daviid's method:
http://www.teamandroid.com/gapps/
What do you guys think?

Great idea. What is your current setup on your phone? I am on ZNUDMK1 Rom ZNUDMJ6 Baseband, rooted using RDLV, 4.3, Gapps installed, but I hear that the new ROM's have made it impossible to root for now.
Will it be worth while to do the 4.4 update?
Could someone miraclously discover how to enable lte? Maybe possible?

Im on mk1 rom and mj6 baseband too. I rooted using cf autoroot and flashed gapps 4.3 thru odin. Yes, its impossible to root the newer roms now without tripping knox. Cf autoroot still works but it trips knox - which i couldnt care less about anyway.
I will definitely upgrade to 4.4. I think the android runtime is really something to look forward to.

Xperia Z3 Dual (D6633) downgrade to KitKat?

OK, so since I have been getting terrible battery life on my Xperia Z3 Dual (around 3h SOT, not even 24h since last unplugged), and highly affected by the "Mobile Radio Active" bug on Android Lollipop (as seen on https://code.google.com/p/android/issues/detail?id=165558), I have been tempted to downgrade my Z3 Dual to KitKat to see if I can manage to get better results.
However, even though I have looked up both here on XDA and on Google, I haven't been able to find an accurate guide in order to downgrade Android versions.
I have already found apparently a good ROM to fit my needs (D6633 KitKat for Brazilian region):
http://www.stockrom.net/2014/12/baixar-stock-rom-original-de-fabrica_11.html
According to this website, using this ROM along with Flashtool and Fastboot will suffice.
Can anyone confirm this info? I know the tutorial (http://www.stockrom.net/2013/03/tutorial-como-instalar-uma-rom-original.html) is not in English, but it does seem accurate according to the comments...
Therefore, I kindly ask anyone who has already downgraded to confirm these procedures. Will I need anything else? Will I lose anything on my phone?
Thanks a lot.

Interesting, I own Z3 Dual and run Lollipop ROM with no significant issues. To downgrade just flash appropriate ROM with Flashtool. Once you go back to KitKat do nandroid backup, wipe your phone and do clean install of Lollipop again. That way you can go back and forth to test both ROMs. Perhaps your issue stems from upgrade from KitKat to Lollipop instead of full wipe and clean install...

New guy here. Please be easy on me. Updates questions and concerns.

Hey everyone,
As stated in the title, I'm a real noob when it comes to rooting/flashing phones. Please bear with me through the stupid questions.
I've started to get sick/bored of my phone running version 4.4.2 with emui 3.0. I bought this phone off Amazon when it came out because I wanted something new. Sammy, LG, etc weren't producing phones I liked.
when the Mate 8 came out with newer software, I wondered what would happen with my phone, and boy did I get some bad news.
I own the MT7-TL10V100R001C00B130 version, which seems to get none of the updates that the Malaysia area phones get.
http://imgur.com/78imLxd
I messaged Huawei Support, and they confirmed the bad news.
http://imgur.com/XtQpgoW
I even tried contacting the UAE support like they suggested, but I haven't gotten a reply back.
I've looked at threads like:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/mate-7/help/help-please-impossible-to-update-mt7-t3286615
and
http://forum.xda-developers.com/mate-7/general/huawei-mt7-l09-l10-stock-firmware-ota-t3275784
but in the end, they don't help me very much.
I've given up on any hope of my phone being updated OTA, so I've decided to sign up and post here to ask question(s):
1. Is there a firmware I can download/install to update my phone to something newer even if the builds don't match?
2. If I must result to rooting, I'm willing to give it a try, but then I'd like to have Nougat on the phone. Are there stable builds for this yet? or must I wait longer?
Thanks very much for reading and any help you can provide.

Hi,
To answer your questions:
1) You can download B324 Malaysia from https://mega.nz/#!h1JDnQaB!En6LMDE6hbm22m0xFX2fbWZWwoGX2urEXrPRJaFlRxc, unzip it and put UPDATE.app file in SDCARD/dload folder in root of SDCARD. Then try to update it from the Updater in Settings. You will then have lollipop. Back up your apps/settings etc before, just in case.
2) Not necessary to root, but there are lots of posts in the Mate7 forum that can assist if you do want to root. Nobody knows yet if Nougat will be released for the Mate 7 (I'm thinking unlikely, as we already got Lollipop and Marshmallow, and the phone is two years old, but you never know)
thanks for much for the info.
for option #1, is there any other precaution i need to take? do i simply just copy paste into the sd card?

Pre-2016 Stock firmware and where to download?

I am desperately looking for any pre-2016 firmware. OPPO seems to have wiped them from every corner of the web that I have searched. My phone is currently not been rooted, and also has been updated with the 2016 firmware which has removed the ability to access bootloader. Very disappointed with OPPO but my focus now is just trying to root this thing to jump across to CYAN-MOD.
If anyone can point me in the direction of stock firmware from 2015, or an alternative way of unlocking bootloader, I would be forever greatful.
Thank you.
Try the vietnamese oppo forums !
Well... I think we truly have been abandoned by Oppo. Their international forum is down since yesterday (AFAIK)...
There international forum has been dead for months. The moderators who cared jumped ship in around April. And ever since (and even before that) it has absolutely not being managed by any Official Oppo member.
My guess they left because they received some behind the scenes information that Oppo will abandon that forum completely.
They don't care about the community at all.
They have become developer unfriendly.
They haven't released kernel sources for their latest phones at all.
They have not just locked bootloader access but also removed the fastboot binarys.
It was completely shutdown for a couple of days, now came back.
As for forum activity, yeah, it pretty much a ghost town now. I didn't pay that much attention until recently notice how dead the forum has become.
If you do have R7sf device, you might want to look at this tutorial http://forum.xda-developers.com/r7-plus/development/recovery-official-twrp-oppo-r7sf-3-0-2-0-t3358552. A good R7sf tutorial for stock ColorOS firmware. Once you get your bootloader unlocked & twrp installed, you can easily install any latest firmwares then simply install supersu update through twrp to get it rooted.
Here is a link.
This is for the R7plusf

Rooting

Hi everyone!
I recently got my hands on a s8+ (G955f) and i'm trying to root it buy i'm really lost.
I did try to root it one time, twrp+no verity+magisk while on Oreo, then i installed magisk manager and both things seemed ok (at least to my knowledge) but the second i take my eyes off the phone, "only official released binaries...".
After that i installed Pie stock firmware since i couldn't use Oreo.
I'd like to try again but theres a lot of info (new and out of date) and i don't even know whats good and what isn't.
TL;DR: Want to root the phone but i don't know what to do, can someone kindly point me out on what to do/share me a link?
Thank you.
