Hi. I'm lost. I've bricked my freshly purchased H950 because of being in haste to update the firmware to 5.1.1. I've accidentally installed a H955 KDZ over my stock 5.0.1 AT&T H950 firmware. As expected, the device is bricked (everything works except the cell network). I've tried everything, spent about 8 hours with no result. Can't root it as well.
The IMEI and Baseband status is "Unknown" (lost EFS partitions).
Please, if it;s possible, give me an advice how to restore it to its original ATT firmware. I know that ATT hasn't published the TOT file of their firmware. Maybe I could restore it using someone's backed up files?
I'm outside of the US for the next 7 months so I won't be able to return it
Please help me, this is urgent.

Well the good new is that your cell phone works so it is not brick. Cell network probably doesnt work because H955 use different bands than H950. I dont think you will be able to go back to ATT rom because like you mentioned there is no kdz for it. But on the bright side you can try to use the H950PR KDZ to flash your cell. this is totally compatible with the H950 from ATT. You can always wait for the someone more knowledgeable to answer but I am almost sure that it should work.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/g-flex2/general/kdz-compatible-att-h950-t3180847
I've installed the h950pr and there the cell network is still not working
In case if i find a person who has a similar device with Att firmware, how can i make a backup of it in order to flash my device?
I've managed to root my semi-bricked H950. But the imei and baseband version are still unknown. What should I do?
baseband ok. just the imei has 0 value. help please

follow THIS guide and you should be ok.
Use your own imei embedded in the back of the phone or the original box.

Check your PM.
Does anybody know how to write IMEI on the H950 without octopus box? Can't do it in QPST, DFS, EFS pro because it sn't recognized as a phone / doesn't answer.
Everything works, I can even make calls, just the imei value is 0.
Finally I did it!!!

Yeah. I used QPST. I had to open cmd, enter "adb shell", then " su", then "echo 1 > /sys/devices/platform/lg_diag_cmd/diag_enable". After that you can backup Nv via QPST.
Im glad you informed yourself and solved your own issue. ?
Hello,
bought a used g920f s6 recently with no info of country of origin or original fw, it was stuck on logo, without warranty.
Knox was triped and twrp installed, tried flash several stock fw, allways stuck on logo, tried Soft Switch restore, but still the same.
Finally flashed latest Unikernel, and it booted up, flashed a ton of fw`s, if no unikernel allways stuck at logo, so I decided to leave unikernel, but IMEI reset to 35000000000000006, and emergency only (with signal bars) and no way of SIM registering to network, so i called few repair shops and even Samsung, most of them wanted to change the motherboard, and finally found a guy who said he can fix it with Z3X box.
He restored IMEI, but still SIM not registered and emergency only, so he said to leave him phone overnight to try reflash, I have been googling a bit before and asked him some questions about EFS and he said he doesnt know anything about it.
Later he called me and asked wich kernel was I using and somehow he managed to get SIM registered.
When I asked him how hw fixed it he said he patched the modem.
I brought the phone home to find out that phone often looses network registration, but signal bars are always there.
Since then tried to reflash several modems, bootloaders and fw`s, but either no network registration, or it often looses it randomly.
Last I flashed xstrestolite rom with unikernel from Aroma, but problem with network remains even with SIM from other operator and Model number changed to G925K.
Everything flashed through Odin, except Xtrestolite, following instructions provided with Aroma.
Tried with auto settings, LTE, WCDMA, GSM, signal jumps from 4g to 3g and vice versa, it is around 90-115 dBm, but asu often drops to 0 (have G360F on same location, has around 100 dBm and 40+ asu with same SIM on LTE)
Does anyone have some experience with this kind of issue, or could give me some advice how to fix it.

...no one had such experience and mange to fix it?
I also noticed that s/n is different on back of the phone and in phone options.
Tried smart switch one more time, noticed that SS was instaling ITV fw, so I guess it had an Italian fw on it, or am I wrong?
And I want to rule out the possibility of hw failure.
Update:
After re-initialising phone with Smart Switch, stuck on logo, flashed unikernel, boot successfull, but emergency only, and no way of registering to network automatic or manualy, both on LTE or WCDMA/GSM.
Flashed Adam kernel, same, SIM registered only when reset band disable on LTE or WCDMA in service mode, but signal strength 113 dBm, asu 0, so still unsuefull, starting to seriously doubt in hw failure.
Wifi works fine.
Will try flashing several modems over the weekend.
Any ideas?
Thx

I tryed helping another guy with this same problem and we couldnt find anyway to fix it as he could not get the stock firmwares to flash threw odin and unless u have a efs back up i think your outta luck its not a hardware thing its software has to do with mix match boatloader modem or curupt broken efs folder. Only fix ive heard is flashing stock threw odin.

I dont have stock efs backup, when I got phone it was stuck on logo with twrp flashed.
But now i initialized phone throug Smart switch, shouldn`t that restore original efs?
Backed up everything after Smart switch reinitialization, just in case, this is only efs backup I have.

Do you think that efs backup from another g920f would work?
Or there is a way to rebuild efs folder?
I tried adb steps from post below, back when my IMEI was 360000000000006, and got error in the process.

Well in all the reading ive only heard of flashing stock trew odin but im sure there are other ways of recovering
Maybe this work?
Preparation:
1. Flash stock latest firmware.
2. CF autoroot doesn't work for 5.1.1 anymore. Use Unikernel Latest version by g.lewarne. Download the Odin version.
3. Install custom recovery, I use Philztouch/CWM for this. Download the odin version for your device.
4. Download SuperSu flashable zip by Chainfire. Get the latest.
5. Download ADB tool in your pc.
6. Install Recovery and Unikernel via Odin. Don't expect for your device to work at this moment. Reboot to recovery after this.
7. Go to Mounts & Storage and mount System.
8. Install SuperSu via adb sideload (enable install via sideload first in Philz):
> adb sideload <supersu.zip location in pc>
or push the file in your sdcard:
> adb push <supersu.zip location in pc> /sdcard
and install it via Philz recovery.
Backup EFS.
1. Backup EFS and radio?? (Just to be sure if radio does have imei info also) just backup, it will do no harm to you.
From adb cmd type this:
> adb shell
> /system/xbin/su
#> dd if=/dev/block/sda3 of=/sdcard/efs.img bs=4096
#> dd if=/dev/block/sda8 of=/sdcard/radio.img bs=4096
--Note it's better to save the file in external via USB-OTG. Just mount it via Philz.
--I'm not sure of your model device but SDA3 (efs) and SDA8 (radio) refers to the efs and radio partitions, mine is G920FD, it is device specific. If unsure you can check which mount should you. It will give you what you need. From adb type this:
> cd /dev/block/platform/15570000.ufs/by-name/
> ll (or ls -l)
<comment> It's double letter L, now you could see which partitions/mounts to use.
2. After that, backup it for safety.
3. If you want to restore in the future:
> dd if=/sdcard/efs.img of=/dev/block/sda3 bs=4096
> dd if=/sdcard/radio.img of=/dev/block/sda8 bs=4096
For Fixing EFS:
> adb shell
> /system/xbin/su
#> mke2fs /dev/block/sda3
#> mkdir /efs
#> mount -t ext4 /dev/block/sda3 /efs
#> reboot
Now your device should boot properly.
Note: all credit goes to @batuzai04123, as I only made some typo correction and added the step to mount /system in recovery prior tu issue adb commands, which him forgot to include in his guide.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2392632
http://www.technobezz.com/fix-samsung-galaxy-unknown-baseband-version/
And two more to have a read trew
I tried adb shell commands, but I must say that I am not familiar with linux commands, and specified commands did not work for me (probably I typed something wrong).
On folder list efs foleder was marked hidden, and there was a18 mark, not sda3, modem folder was marked sda8, as in command.
Tried to run command as is, and even change sda3 to a18 or sda18, but still got cannot find folder error.
EFS Professional looks promising, just need to figure it out, note that device s/n is different from number on back of the phone.

Update:
Boot up phone - emergency only..
enter service mode/band selection/automatic/LTE band 19 phone connects to network and I am able to make calls
Sometimes signal drops and I am back to emergency only, then if I repeat steps from above (even if that band is allready selected) phone reconnects and I am again able to make calls temporarily.
Can anyone tell me is this Netwrok mode normal?
Update:
Managed to fix wrong s/n via ES file explorer, in the efs folder found file serial whith zeros in it, changed zeros to number from back of the phone, restart device and now serial is correct in phone info.
But manage to mess up something probably in the service mode, because now my SIM is not recognized (If I pull it out while phone is open, it detects that SIM has been removed), and no mobile networks in settings
Will try reflash and see if that helps.
Update:
Reflashing stock ITV fw, did not help, still no SIM and no mobile networks menu. :/
Can anyone with g920f G920FXXU3COI9 ITV fw make efs backup with TWRP and upload pls?

nevermind last post
Yesterday I picked up phone after it spent three weeks in repair service, they couldnt fix no SIM issue, telling me it is a software issue.
IMEI of the phone was unknown, same as sn, and csc.
I used Smartswitch emergency initialization, and flashed unikernel and now IMEI is back, but still no SIM, and no mobile networks menu.
Also when I try to turn Mobile data on, via shortcut, it ask me to insert SIM.
So to sumarize:
-tried to turn radio off and on in service mode
-phone is showing network signal
-there is no Mobile networks menu in the settings
-in service mode SIM is shown as not attached
-when tried to select EU band (or any other) in service mode, says unavailable
try this bro... flash any stock rom via odin.. root using any available tool.. install xplore file manager and grant root permission... go to EFS folder in root/system/efs.... delete all file inside efs folder... reboot device... (let android system auto restore efs) now boot to download mode again.. and flash again stock rom... now its should boot up and your emei restored.... good luck...

well, deleting everything inside efs folder resulted in IMEI 3600000000006 after reboot.
but..after flasing fw through odin, and booting into recovery, after dead android with exclamation mark logo, it does not say dm verity verification failed...check drk, instead says:
*MANUAL MODE*
-- appling (this is not a typo, it actualy says: appling) Multi-CSC...
Applied the CSC-code : ITV
Successfully applied multi-CSC
wiped data/factory reset...reboot system... stuck at logo.
after that in recovery again says dm verity verifcation failed....check drk
after twrp and unikernel instalation, booted successfully, but IMEI still 3600000000006, and still no SIM detected, along with mobile networks menu in settings :/
Only z3x or Octoplus can fix your phone at this point ....you need imei and network repair. Go to 3rd party mobile service ( mostly of them own z3x they will fix 100% and gona cost you 30€ something )
Until you get back a normal imei and sn from backplate you wont be able to get network data...

I restored efs backup i made before last post, so IMEI is back in IMEI info, sn appears if I write it in serial file i found in somewhere in efs folder.
Mobile networks menu still missing from settings, and still no SIM.
As for 3rd party mobile service, I will try to find someone who actually knows what he is doing.
Is there a way to boot official fw without custom kernel on phone once rooted, after Smart Switch emergency initialization?
My phone is allways stuck on boot logo if I dont flash custom kernel.

Stuckin in boot logo its not a problem. Its meesing around with firmwares and recoveries. But if your imei is 3600000000000xxx blla blla its not OK... You MUST MUST MUST have the same imei from back panel ... Check back panel there is a small imei there...

IMEI is the same as on the back of the phone now, but after graphbyte steps in above post, it changed to 3500000000006, fortunately I made a efs backup before i tried it so I just restored it and now it`s same as on the back of the phone in IMEI info in settings, only in SIM info in settings, IMEI is unknown, like everything else in that menu
Is your sim pin code recognized ... After put sim inside go *#0011# to see if CERT is PASS or FAIL... Anyway you need network repair with z3x

I got my cellphone signal back. Up to now, I can make and receive calls and SMS, but not connect on cellular data network. I flashed brazilian radio/modem.
If your IMEI is 0, you don't have any real option but to have it repaired. You should contact Moto customer service, there is nothin you can do to restore the IMEI to your device.

Repair means writing a new IMEI in the device NVM.
As it was written/deleted the first time it can be refreshed again, just need to find the IMEI @ in the NVM (quite easy to say u'll tell me).
Do you have any idea how much Moto customer service charges that ?
Thanks

I have a CC9 Pro Premium. Even if i can't fix my problem, hopefully this story will PREVENT people from messing with their IMEIs... I hope no one ever goes through what I just did
I'm obviously by no means encouraging changing IMEIs, even in certain 3rd world countries where it could be necessary!
So here's a detailed backstory: When you purchase a phone where I live, you need a valid passport in order to pay tax and register it's IMEI number, and if not you get cut off by your operator within a month.
I didn't have one, since it also takes about 4-8 months to process, and I couldn't even preform a request due to the corona virus situation.
So, being the ignorant idiot I am, I thought it would be a great idea to change it's IMEI number till I can register the original one, since a lot of people do this over here apparently, white market
I followed a tutorial I found online (And re-posted on XDA, so there's nothing really wrong with it), and here's what happened:
(Root, TWRP and Diag is OK in all steps)
I made a .qcn backup using QPST build 480, saved the original somewhere safe, edited the copy, wiped modemst1, modemst2 and fsg, then restored it
*phone reboots*
Everything's the same, and still getting reception, no change
Took another backup and saw it was the same, so I give up
The next day I try again, but this time is when the problems started... I take another QCN backup just to be sure, and it's slightly larger (Could be because I just inserted a 2nd SIM for the first time right before it), edit it, then wipe modemst1, modemst2, fsg and this time: "fsc" since I saw someone do it in another tutorial for the Mi Note 10
*phone reboots*
*boot animation*
*resets and goes to recovery*
I was shocked. I wipe the 4 partitions again and the phone boots normally, nothing has changed (apparently).
So I put my SIMs in and go watch a movie. Then I switch it on, only to see there's no reception!!!
I wipe the partitions, and restore the first original backup... boots to recovery again...
Wipe... Boots normally... restore the 2nd original one (slightly larger, both sims)... boots to recovery...
Then I just decide to miflash a fastboot rom, maybe that will get things back to normal!
So I wipe, flash rom... IMEI and Baseband now Unknown... Yikes...
I next find an xQCN backup online for the Mi Note 10 that only has a single IMEI in it, that belongs to the 2nd sim (SIM 1 550 only, QCN View, the 1st 550 missing)
Replace it with my original and reboot, IMEI 2 and baseband is back! But no reception, even after multiple reboots...
I wipe partitions again, IMEI 2 is still there... Interesting...
I continue trouble shooting, even: wiping the partitions, restoring the original backup, flashing fastboot rom... still boots to recovery (Mi Recovery of course), setting 755 permission for modem files...
------------------------------------------------
SUMMERY:
I need to find out why the original backup keeps booting to recovery!!! Also some information about "fsc" partition would be nice, since wiping that probably started the whole issue (Is it a backup for fsg?!)
Important things I discovered:
1) Wiping modemst1 and modemst2 at the same time is enough for the phone to boot
2) The reboot to recovery (Recovery loop?) with the original backups is caused on an OS level, because one time it took so long that I even saw the lockscreen for half a second before it rebooted (no SIMcard in the phone either)
3) After hours of dorking I found 2 other similar instances that could be related:
https://forum.xda-developers.com/ze...onor-qcn-file-ze550kl-z00ld-ww-t3520647/page4 (Page 4-5)
(Normal boot using a custom rom?? Interesting... maybe Xiaomi.eu made no difference for me because it's still pretty much just MIUI)

"We cannot repair both SIM slots.
We can only repair SIM2 slot for IMEI repairing. After IMEI repair process, SIM1 IMEI getting '0' value. When we are trying to repair both SIM slot phone is entering the Bootloop and entering the recovery mode(twrp). Thats why we are remove SIM1 IMEI from qcn file and this time we can will repair to SIM2 slot. Do you know this Problem ? What can we do to solve this problem? Thank you in advance for your help."

the only problem is returning to "Factory settings" and imei is deleted.

So far it only seems possible to restore sim 2, I contacted a professional IMEI dealer and this is what he said:
"IMEIs cannot be changed simply through a USB port on modern snapdragon SOCs. Only the secondary sim modem can be restored, because the primary sim is locked to the chipset. When tampered with, it goes into a lockdown state which means it can probably never be used again unless a breach is found"
I sold the phone and got a Nokia 9 Pureview, much more consistent but still has it's own issues

If it's related to the IMEI, multiple guides have already been made since I made this post. Just search for it on YouTube!
If not, could be a bad rom, bad recovery, incomplete unlock, etc.
Try a stable Orange Fox Recovery, that might fix it

Just flash the SIM 2 QCN I provided (edit the IMEI), and write the IMEI using pirated box software for free, you can find everything you need on YouTube. When I had the problem, pirated box software for the Mi Note 10 wasn't available yet

Hi , same things happen to me.I have mi note 10 lite.
before the dealing to imei I take modemst1,modemst2,and fsg backup via dd codes.
and take qcn and xqcn backup via qpst.
And after that In fastboot commend I write
"fastboot erase modemst1"
"fastboot erase modemst2"
"fastboot erase fsg"
so my imei have gone. When I edit the qcn ( imei1 and imei2 both) and flash back to the phone. phone is going to recovery mode and nvdata is corrupted error happen. There is two possibility to the save to phone. First one you wipe-data in stock-recovery or again in fastboot mode you have to erase modemst1,modemst2,fsg.
So I erased again and open the phone.
This time I edited qcn file (only imei2,imei1 codes deleted in codes line and string) so my edited qcn only exist imei2 codes.
so I flashed back to phone and imei1 shows 0 and imei2 shows my original imei(I want to recover my original imei). and after that in the adb I flashed my stock modemst1,modemst2,fsg via dd codes and (also some secret codes and combination ) and after reboot my both imei show and start working.I dont know the reason but somehow my phone skip the security.Interesetingly .I guess phone security in the software not to hardware.
I want to check something so I tried 20 time to flash my stock backups via dd codes but it is only work 2 time whenever I tried the flash and after reboot my phone add ramdump(app 2 gb every time) files in the main stroage ( I search it,it is crash log). Interesting
Right now I search to skip security so I find some codes in build.prop
"ro.miui.restrict_imei=1" I think this one cause the problem to change imei so I try to disable it but I cant change to build.prop because in android 10 you can't mount system(rw) so cant change to build.prop.I think only solution is flashing edited system.new.dat file but I cant decompile system.dat.file so .
After Android 10 magisk root app just work in systemless way(this is not even a root not like the old time). You have root but you cant change anything with root access so in originally this is not root and it is sucks and bull****.
Do you know any rom tool for the edit system.new.dat file or how can I create new custom rom so if I success it I want to change both imei. I googled it but every tool is too old to use.
Regards..
i have problem with mi 8 no basedband unknow and restart.....no qcn write...try with UMT or QFIL not work.

I read all your whole post and I can suggest to try to use XiaoMiFlash.exe of 2019-12-06 (WARNING: option below must be CLEAN ALL to save your unlocked state of the Bootloader) for flashing back to Android 9 in Fastboot mode original flash (those of about 4GB) , after that you can try to edit the build.prop with some Apps that work with root / Magisk.
But please, 1st I really urgently need your 4 partitions backup (also the fsc), can you send to me?
TIA and best regards!

Thank you for posting your findings on the thread! I believe the solution for Mi Note 10 users could be flashing Android 9 and changing that build.prop line, we need someone to confirm this. I hope you discover a fix for your phone as well, please write a step by step guide if so. Good luck!
These materials can only be used for ROG Phone 5_ZS673KS, and ROG Phone 5S_ZS676KS cannot be used.
ROG Phone 5S ZS676KS Please see here:https://forum.xda-developers.com/t/...ootloader-to-modify-country-cn-to-ww.4353339/
If your ROG Phone 5 ZS673KS only has edl mode (port 9008), then this tool can help you repair your phone through edl mode.
Or if you want to modify COUNTRY, flash the firmware of WW, you don't need to apply to unlock the Bootloader,
you don't need ROOT, just follow me.
1.Connect the phone to the computer through the USB port on the left, enter the fastboot mode,
and then open "Reboot-to-edl.bat" to enter the edl mode. Or enter fastboot oem enter-dload in cmd.
2.You must flash in the ENG firmware that I modified. If you find the firmware online,
you may lose your fingerprint and IMEI after flashing.
Method 1: The phone enters edl mode, and when you see port 9008 in the device manager,
open the ENG folder--open "0-update_image_EDL.bat"
Method 2: The phone enters edl mode, and after you see port 9008 in the device manager, use the XiaoMiFlash tool to flash in.
Method 3: The phone enters edl mode, and after you see port 9008 in the device manager, flash in through the QPST tool.
3.After flashing in the firmware and successfully booting up, be sure to back up your phone partition files. If your phone's fingerprint is lost or IMEI is lost,
it can be restored to normal. If you don't have a backup, it will be very troublesome.
Double-click to open "Backup.bat", it will automatically back up your phone partition files, you need to save these files, follow-up will definitely help you.
Include these Eight files:“persist.img factory.img modemst1 modemst2 asuskey4 fsg fsgCA fsc”
Normally, you don’t need to restore these files. If your fingerprint or imei is lost and you need to restore these files to your phone,
please flash the ENG firmware, then put these Eight files into the ROG 5 folder, and double-click to open " Restore.bat" can be restored to your phone.
4.If your machine is an global version, after backing up and saving Eight files, directly enter the fastboot mode, open the WW folder-open "flash_raw_and_wipe_data.cmd" to flash the WW firmware,
and successfully repair your ROG 5.
If you cannot flash the firmware in fastboot mode, the prompt: fastboot error CID () Mapping wrong Xrom!
You can Double click to open"Open-Cmd.bat",Then enter the commands, enter fastboot -v flash all xx.raw
xx.raw is the firmware on your computer, for example: fastboot -v flash all C:\Users\johnny\Desktop\ROG5\WW\WW_ZS673KS_18.0810.2101.95_M2.13.24.9-ASUS_1.1.46_Phone-user.raw
ASUS:
version display asus fastboot version and list support project.
-v flash all : disable asus raw id checking.
-g flash all : disable repartition.
-C flash all : disable CRC_<partition>.
If your machine is the CN version, and you want to flash into the WW Firmware, but don’t want to unlock the BootLoader, you can use WinHex to open the persist.img you just backed up,
find COUNTRY, change CN to WW and save it, and you can directly restore it to your phone through the dd command Inside, there is no need to unlock or install magisk.
Double click to open"Open-Cmd.bat",Then enter the commands one by one
adb push persist.img /sdcard/
adb shell
su
dd if=/sdcard/persist.img of=/dev/block/bootdevice/by-name/persist
Then enter the fastboot mode, open the WW folder-open "flash_raw_and_wipe_data.cmd" to flash the WW firmware.

YouTube:
I have also studied Hardwaresub Services for a long time, ROG1/ROG2/ROG3 only need to modify COUNTRY, CN to WW, and then flash into the global version,
there will be no such prompt. In addition to modifying COUNTRY, ROG 5 also needs to modify asuskey4.
In this partition, clear the imei, then there is no prompt. But I can’t do anything with ROG 5S.
This machine verifies modemst1 and modemst2. I tried it for a long time, but I couldn’t get rid of the prompt except for the whitelist.
If your ROG3/ROG5/ROG5S is the CN version, but you have flashed the WW firmware, you cannot unlock the Bootloader, or you are prompted to unlock successfully, but the Bootloader is still not unlocked after restarting, you can write the correct SSN and ISN of the phone Go to asuskey4, then restore to the phone partition, and then use the official unlocking tool to unlock it.
Nice job putting together what james(whatever) abused the community to accomplish and never cared enough to document for anyone else.
Might want to change the label to "How to Guide" instead of "Question" (contrary to most that label a question as a guide) and consider rewording the title a bit, though. It reads "convert your phone if you are stuck in EDL", but "restore from EDL or convert without unlocking bootloader" is what you explain and that's a much larger audience.

and after convert we able manual update phone ?
special thanks . I followed your instructions to change CN to WW and success with no error, even fingerprint , amazing! Just one problem still exist is The Hardwarestub warning : how could we deal with it beside disable this app ?
For PC not show EDL device in Device manager --> Change OEM cable , some cable just have 4 wire , not enough for fastboot.
For PC show EDL devices but with yellow caution . Use driver below . still now show 9008 port --> change different usb port (3.0, 2.0...)
