Does Gear S2 has compass sensor ? - Samsung Gear S2

Hi all,
Per specs on the official Samsung Website compass feature is not present, however it is present on Gear S.
Is hard to believe that it doesn't have compass. Can someone confirm?
Thanks,
ibtibeiru

I hope it does. maybe just needs to be enable by software update and a good looking compass app.

Nope, no compass.
Further, only the 3G version has a GPS sensor.

I have 3G and it does have gps, also is there any way that when changing to another rom i dont have to do a factory reset every time?

Apologies for being so dense -- there's no compass app on my 3G stock. Was there one on yours? If not, would you mind telling us the name of the app in the app store?
Thanks!

Some one said that maybe the 3/4G might because of the GPS but . No I don't know so... sorry for the misunderstanding.

Nope, and it's a glaring omission when there are boilerplate SOC devices providing GPS, accelerometer, compass, gyro, all in one.
Heck, the chip they used may even have a compass, they just didn't implement the driver. I doubt it, but it's certain a possibility. Having a root solution for the watch would open up investigating this.

the reason the S2 doesn't have a compass (or it's deactivated) is the magnetic mounting solution for the charger. If you put a (fairly strong) magnet right next to the magnetometer/compass sensor, it won't provide any useful data anyway.

I installed Compass GPS from the store. It works only when you moving. Hope the next gears will got magnetic sensor finally.

Yes, I did so.
It support android 1.6 and below, everything above that iv tried it on force closes while its loading contacts.
Yeah, Mine 2.2 FC
Working fine on Desire with cyanogenmod 6.0.2 Froyo2.2 and latest radio... The biggest annoyance though is that it does not work when wireless is enabled... I have Skype from 3 on my nokia and it works on the 3g connection regardless of the state of wifi...
It drains my battery very fast when locating by wireless network is enabled.
Android system disconnects the mobile network as soon as it is connected to the Wifi, so it is not capable of doing that.

Just want to share.....

Hi all! this is in regard with our gps issues... I just want to share how i got the gps working at least I can say 99 percent accurate navigation, thru gps receiver module. I know its kinda stupid buying one but I was really happy with the results. I bought this gps receiver module in amazon.com(Globalsat BT-359). then downloaded the FREE bluetooth gps provider app in the market. Easy to pair and connect with our captivate. I have been using it now for a week and so far so good, locks and always on the spot.
p.s. the main reason I bought the module was for my nook color which btw works too, this prompted me to test it on the captivate which works wonders now with my navigation. Just sharing!

[Q] Bluetooth GPS Dongle

I believe you are mistaken, and the wifi version has no GPS.
I have a bluetooth GPS receiver that I used with my Viewsonic g tablet but that required an "blueGPS" app to get it to work. I imagine with Touchpad may also require a third app to get it to work. An app that is likely not available for the Touchpad.
Are their any app for the Touchpad that can use a GPS?
There are apps in the hp-market. But i can't make out if they
all are real gps or if they need wlan/inet too.
Most of them also cost money.
I think i also read somewhere about using extern gps with that app
called usbpassthrough. But that app looks like some handy app, because
it didn't start in fullmode.
Ah, my apologies, my information was based off of a chart I googled last Saturday after purchase. It did not differentiate between the wifi and 3g/4g versions. I guess I can cross searching for a new GPS app off my to do list...

LOL... yeah, no need for a GPS app.
I wonder if there is a way to get my bluetooth GPS receiver to work with the Touchpad. I got a confirmation e-mail about 3 or 4 days later from HP.com but it hasn't shipped so I'm not certain I will actually get one.
Anyone got some info on this, with GPS this table would be such a great product.

Install Preware and get Navit. The app works fine in fullscreen and either orientation. Just let us know if you manage to get your dongle working.
I've got a Bluetooth dongle but the touchpad couldn't find it... I tried selecting OTHERS but nothing...wondering why...
EDIT: I found that we cannot any other device other than webOS, I suspect it's all about the stack, hopefully some developer out there can hack it.

Reading that ^ I tried an old cheapie chinese BT GPS receiver I have lying around, it found and connected in a couple of seconds. Now we just need some GPS software to make the right calls to it!
To both of you who've successfully paired your GPS dongles, does GPS show up as an available location service?
If not, it shouldn't be particularly difficult to make a patch.

no, iam not able to do anything with it. There is a Navit, but i haven't try it yet.
No you can't do anything with it, none of the existing gps apps work because they are looking for an internal gps module, they don't look to bluetooth for it. What we would need is an app that works via the bluetooth stack? the way the old Palm Tx etc did.

com.qualcomm.atfwd service: bloatware?

Does anybody know what is the com.qualcomm.atfwd service for? Can be safely killed/removed? Or does it help processor, battery & stuff management and must be kept?
Nobody seems to know it :/
Thank you in advance
I've had it Greenified for about a month, and I've noticed nothing going wrong. Everything is perfectly fine.
Even I tried Googling around about that service but found nothing

HI
i dont know what is the service but you can
go to setting-Apps-All-com.qualcom.atfwd....stop it
if you see a problem with your phone just restart and this service run again
com.qualcomm.atfwd service (atfwd.apk) is Qualcomm's WiFi display. It allows you to mirror your devices display on a TV.
The apk can be deleted. WiFi display is only half functional on Stock anyway - WiFi connection gets disabled. I've included this file in the NoMoto Script and there have been no issues with it's removal.

Wfd are Wifi Direct services, I recommend you dont freeze/remove them, they can be usefull in more common communication cases.
Wireless Display probably has something to do with miracast or similar, but I'm not sure.

Yes. Moto G supports Wireless Screen Mirroring with a simple build.prop edit. Motorola Stock is limited however in that it can only Mirror phone without WiFi Internet connection. GPE ROMs however can Wirelessly Screen Mirror and maintain WiFi Internet connection.
See Moto G FAQ for more info.
I remove it and i do not have any problem

Thanks for posting this because I accidentally clicked wrong and have been searching for a while to try to figure out how screwed I am lol &i don't have miracast so I'm not as worried about it as I was just after I did it or after I started searching for what it was and started worrying because i wasn't getting much more than a bunch of lists I really REALLY really REALLY didn't feel like reading lol...[I'm on my itouch because I did it on my phone and until i knew what it was I didn't want to touch my phone again and for some reason my itouch doesn't have a 'find on page' option to type "com.qualcomm.atfwd" into to avoid reading every last word looking for "a needle in a haystack" ..which is exactly what I would have wound up doing if you didn't write this &get an answer & even though none of you have anything to do with it being a really good answer for me I appreciate it as if you did lol
I am not a tech advanced person. Not a programmer. Could someone talk me through removing this and other bloatware carp from my phone. Also I have a ton of storage that has accumulated over past week that I didn't ask or accept. Please help. Just an ordinary gal on my LG stylo3.

I tried this at my desk at work and the phone shows North where south should be and South where north should be. I grabbed a co-workers iPhone and his pointed north perfectly. After shaking my phone a few times, it eventually corrected itself, but was easily thrown off by moving it again.
My only guess is that our phones are VERY susceptible to electromagnetic interference.
Or you can simply try to reboot.

I can confirm that my compass now works properly in my home. My office has hundreds of electronic devices connected to numerous WiFi routers. It seems to support my hypothesis that our phones are just very sensitive to EM interference.
