Dear XDA Community,
I think my phone is soft-bricked (again). When powering on the device I see the Galaxy S6 logo and then straight after it shuts off (not a boot loop).
Goal: Fix phone via Odin without tripping Samsung KNOX or voiding warranty in any way
[Before] My phone came with Lollipop 5.0.2. I rooted it with Ping-Pong-Root.
[Current] Stock Lollipop 5.1.1
Everything has been perfect until yesterday. A friend of mine enabled KNOX Security and pressed reboot when prompted. The phone was stuck in a boot loop which was fixed by a factory reset via android recovery mode.
Once I had done the factory reset and everything was working, I decided to update my device to the latest firmware Lollipop 5.1.1. I enabled debugging mode. Yesterday I was trying to figure out if I could somehow back up data with adb when it was soft-bricked but the device was not recognized with the abd tool only Odin.
Today I noticed the phone was rebooting randomly. I read a post that said to try "wipe cache partition" which in hindsight I should have just done. Yesterday the option to "apply update from ADB" kept saying "Update from ADB is disabled". Me being inquisitive, I tried the option "apply update from ADB" (with no usb attached) thinking that if it worked this time, I could just cancel it by powering off the device. I was WRONG! This is what led to my current issue.
I have tried wipe data/factory reset like I did yesterday to fix the boot loop to no avail.
Current Status:
ODIN MODE
Product name: SM-G920F
Current Binary: Samsung Official
System Status: Official
Reactivation Lock: OFF
Secure Download: ENABLED
KNOX warranty void 0 (0x0000)
RP SWREV: B:2 K:2 S:2
In the android recovery menu it says at the bottom: " dm-verification failed... "
I have researched into flashing stock firmware. I have already tried Smart Switch with no luck. Once entering in the correct Model name and S / N number I get the error message: “Unable to find the serial number, model name, or IMEI on the server. Please check and try again.”
I have two other options:
Flashing stock firmware via Odin
Taking it back to my local store and sending it in for repairs
My main concern is hard-bricking the device and voiding the warranty.
I have read that flashing stock firmware through Odin will not void the warranty, can anyone please confirm this? I need to be 100% sure.
If I were to flash via Odin, the next obstacle I face is choosing the correct firmware.
I have some screenshots of my “About Device” page from when I was still on 5.0.2.
On the screenshot, it has Baseband version: G920IDVU1AOD1 .
There is a version with: G920IDVU2DOI2 . I assume I should get that one.
My current rom has the official Spark boot loader image, if I were to flash any of those roms, would I lose it?
Can Samsung see a firmware flash counter?
Medium case scenario:
Assuming that flashing via Odin does not trip KNOX, I flash one of the roms and it does not work. Will Samsung refuse to fix the phone if there was a firmware flash count of eg 2?
Worst case scenario:
The flash is successful but hard-bricks the device. KNOX also may be tripped.
Thank you in advance for your support!

The Knox counter is not triggered when we flash a stock firmware through Odin, therefore the warranty will not be void.

HI,
I'm from Slovenia so I'm sorry if there are mistakes in writting.
My friend just bought Samsung Galaxy Mega LTE GT-I9205 and the phone doesn't start because the phone was rooted or I don't know what they have been doing with it and when they were trying to install new android on it there was a problem or they disconected the phone to fast.
When he got the phone and he started it there was written(Firmware upgrade encountered an issue. Please select recovery mode recovery mode in Kies & try again.).
My friend doesn't know about this problems and he doesn't know how to root the phone or install ROM with Odin so he gave the phone to me that I fix it. And I tried to conect the phone to Kies as it says on the phone and I tried to recover the phone and program asked me for the recovery code which I don't have because the phone wasn't conected to my computer when this happened. So I contacted the previous user and he said that the phone wasn't conected to his computer either and he doesn't have the recovery code.
So then I downloaded all four firmwares for Slovenia from SAMMOBILE site and tried to install it with Odin. When I installed firmwares which are android 4.2.2 version the phone started and showed the SAMSUNG GALAXY MEGA logo and on the top written recovery booting and immediately showed the error on which was written:
Image size too large!! W:1080, H:1920(with red)
display image fail(with yellow)
SECURE FAIL: KERNEL(with red)
When I installed the latest firmware with andorid 4.4.2 the phone turns on and shows SAMSUNG GALAXY MEGA logo and on the top is written RECOVERY BOOTING with blue and it stays there.
I CAN'T GO INTO RECOVERY MODE(Volume UP + Home + Power)
When I go into download(Volume Down + Home + Power) there is written:
ODIN MODE
PRODUCT NAME: GT-I9205
CURRENT BINARY: Samsung Official
SYSTEM STATUS: Official
KNOX KERNEL LOCK: 0x0
KNOX WARRANTY VOID: 0x1
QUALCOMM SECUREBOOT: ENABLE
BOOTLOADER RP SWREV: 2
WRITE PROTECTION: Enable
SO WHAT TO DO? IS THERE ANY POSSIBLE WAY TO FIX THIS PHONE? I know that there is no warranty anymore

Most probably because of reactivation lock is 'On'. When enabled, no factory reset allowed. Flash back to original firmware and try to enter the system. It's going to be a bit messy because I'm sure you don't remember the original firmware. Hope it doesn't has any screen lock.

Try to flash the firmware using smart switch[emergency firmware reinitialization) or odin.
Isn't it better to return it to the person who sold it?.

The only way is flash mm firmware again. As you said it's from wind, flash the latest for wind. Smart switch probably will decide the best, so try with it.

Hi....
It's about my Samsung Galaxy S6 live demo which i bought some 6 months ago. It was working fine as a G920F. I could make calls, use whatsapp everything. In short, it was a full featured galaxy s6. At that time time i was noob. I didn't know anything about rooting-flashing. I thought retailer has sold me just a rooted phone that's why my software is not updating. I went for custom upgrade, started with super user full unroot, nothing happened. I rebooted and at once device started boot loop and was stuck. I tried everything but nothing helped. I saw a forum
" https://forum.xda-developers.com/ga...er-thread-guides-firmwares-t3267738?nocache=1 "
It helped me in knowing it was a demo unit and guided to flash it to stock and then to g920 F but after doing everything whatever it said disabling retail mode updating software in stock demo firmware, I can't flash G920F rom. Whenever I flash via odin it passes but stucks on Samsung live demo screen and on opening recovery mode says "Dm-verity verification failed.. check drk first " and else there is nothing...I am stuck on logo screen :crying:
My s6 was on Android 5.0.2
Firmware was G920FXWU2B0G8
Please help! I am crying :'( I bought it expensive... :"( ... Please help....

DM verity verification failure happens when your bootloader detects that there have been modifications made to the device that it deems to be unsafe.
Your 2 options are:
1) find the correct original firmware to flash via Odin and hope it works.
Or
2) let Samsung repair or replace the device.

What could be the correct original firmware for a demo version?
Also the boot screen even after flashing shows same galaxy logo witha live demo unt written on it...
Is there a way to bypass dm-verity verification? Somehow block the bootloader from detecting modification?
Please help... :"(

No, there's no way to trick the bootloader.

I rooted my phone a a few days ago and now I'm trying to get back the official firmware which should be possible.
I flashed TWRP, SuperSU and "no-verity something".
Yesterday I tried to unroot my phone and I saw in a tutorial I only have to press the fully unroot button in SuperSU and it should work.
Well it did, but I still couldn't open Snapchat I thought it was TWRP. I saw that I need root access to uninstall TWRP. I tried to flash SuperSU once again and then my phone just gave up.
It didn't break or something, but when I boot my phone normally it I get an error message, I have a german phone... I can't translate it perfectly, but it says some "integrity check" has failed and I have to factory reset my phone. That's where the problems started.
When I press the "reset" button, it tries to factory reset my phone, but I think it can't read internal memory. When I connect it to my PC it only shows my SD card.
When I go to wipe on TWRP it shows "internal memory 0MB" and I think it has some difficulties reading the internal memory.
My question is, is there a possibility to get the J710FN firmware and all the things back, like the original recovery and all the things.
I tried to flash the original global firmware via ODIN3 v3.12.3 but it fails. My phone says "SW REV CHECK FAIL Device: 4 Binary: 3"
I just want to get back the original firmware without any rooted things so my phone works again.
Oh and I tried to factory reset it in case somebody thinks that's the problem.
Factory resetting doesn't work, because I THINK my phone can't read the internal memory.
I really hope someone can help me.
You can ask me any kind questions for information you need to gather to help me.
Thank you in advance!
I think sw rev check fail (software reverse)mean's that you are trying to flash an out dated firmware (in comparison to the firmware that your phone has on it now)Your phone will block you trying to downgrade your firmware.
Before you do anything you could try the emergency software update and Initialisation in smart switch,I think you need is your phone's serial number(if you still have the box i will be on there)
If all else fail's you could try downloading the most up to date software from sammobile and flash it with the most up to date version of odin you can find
Hi all,
I'm not new in XDA but i'm new in Samsung and yesterday i bricked my device. i own a Samsung Galaxy S8+ G955F
What i did was, first ticked OEM Unlock and USB Debugging in Developer options and then flashed the original TWRP recovery for Galaxy S8+.
After reboot the phone bootloop, i only can go to Download Mode and after that i trigger the Knox too.
If i try to flash an original Samsung rom i solve the problem?
Any help please?
Thx.
Solved by flashing a stock rom.

Reflash stock recovery.
Jtag dead phone to life and rewrite IMEI
First of all my phone is the s8+ G955fd, but I am sure that the people that helped me can help most Samsung owners with bricked phones.
My phone ended up being stuck on the first boot screen, I couldn't get into recovery or download mode. I installed TWRP and after that I lost my IMEI numbers( dual sim), so I tried to reflash stock and thats when i became bricked. I searched someone to help and found reference to the Fonefunshop in England. I sent it there and they said that the eMMC chip was bad. I searched for someone who could write to it or put a new one on the motherboard . I found A2Z cellular in Ottawa Canada. They used jtag to restore it to stock and they told me that the Fonefunshop had not opened the phone which is necessary to use jtag as they claimed, so avoid them.
The phone was now back doing everything it should except the IMEI's were null like before. I gave them the original IMEI's and the phone is working like new.
If your Samsung is bricked these guys can probably fix it and it won't cost much to find out.

You need to find that devices forum and post there. This is for s8 plus only
