[Completed] How to install a ROM in Chinese tablet without ZIP file - XDA Assist

Hi,
I've been searching a lot and I couldn't find a way to install this particular ROM, in the format it's been given to me. I have installed custom ROMs in the past, but all of them in ZIP file format.
It's a chinese tablet, model number MZ7061H1C2W1-LFH, QuadCore 1.3Ghz, 1Gb RAM and running on Android 4.4.2.
The ROM folder contains the following files:
- database folder
- boot.img, cache.img, recovery.img, secro.img, system.img, userdata.img
- MBR, EBR1, EBR2
- lk.bin, logo.bin, preloader_mr706.bin
- MT6582_Android_scatter.txt
Now, I have found some posts about how to install a ROM with boot, recovery and system img files, but none of them say anything about the rest of the files and I know from the source that the preloader file is particularly important since it's based on the hardware specs of my tablet.
The tablet is already Rooted.
Is there any way to generate the ZIP file, or what would be the way to install it?
I appreciate any help you can provide. If you need any other information please let me know.
Thanks.

[Q] Is anyone able to extract this image?

Hi,
I'm very unsure where to put this thread as my device has no forum of its own. I have a ViewSonic ViewPad 7 tablet, but I guess this is not even a device specific question, which is why I ended up posting it here.
I have an image of the stock ROM on my tablet (system.img + boot.img), but I'm unable to extract or flash the system.img directly, which is why I need your help. I've been reading some topics regarding this and tried out different methods, but either I am doing something wrong or the image is not complete. It was created using the cat command in the shell.
If any of you should be able to extract the system.img from this zip file I would be forever grateful, as I really need to get my stock ROM back so that I'm able to have Danish locale as well as text messages.
Thank you very much in advance!

Rom Customisation & Modification (PLEASE HELP!)

Hi Guys
I need some basic help/understanding about Android ROM modification.
In particular for an Android MX TV Box - but the questions is generic and applies to any ROM I guess.
The Rom im flashing has the following files (and works perfectly):
factory_update_param.aml
hd18d_mx4.zip
recovery.img
I am able to successfully restore my box with this image (so I know that the image is working fine).
Within the hd18d_mx4.zip there is:
Directotories: data, META-INF, recovery, system
files: boot.img, bootloaded.img, logo.img
I tried to do a very basic step of deleting a single system.apk file from the system/app folder (no other changes) and I am unable to flash this firmware.
Any ides - what am i doing wrong?? It seems like i cant make any modifications to the zip file or there are problems.
I tried using dsixda Rom kitchen, and even if put rom in working directory, and then immediately
Please help - this is driving me mad!! Aaarrghghg

[Completed] Restore full Android image through USB or repackage as flashable rom file

Hello everyone,
I have a Chinese clone of a Lenovo P780W (doesn't look like the actualy P780 at all) for which I wanted to find a custom ROM that would work but was unable to do so. I already have CWM recovery on it. Before I started thinkering with it I made a full system backup with some software, but unfortunately it was few months ago so I don't remember which method I used (I am assuming it was ADB but not sure). Anyway, the image is in a zip file and the contents is as below in the screenshot:
s8.postimg.org/qnck3pyw5/2015_10_25_15_45_38.png
My question is, how would I restore it now seeing how my phone won't boot up and CWM won't flash it. I tried ADB Restore and it's asking me to confirm on the phone itself. Is there any other way to do that or repackage that system image to a flashable zip format?
Thanks a lot!
Solved
It turns out this was the CWM backup. I managed to create a flashable zip by grabbing the boot.img, extracting the system.ext4.tar to system, and a META-INF from some random image. I combined it into a zip and it flashed.
Still would be nice to find a proper rom for it. Right now it's ALPS-JB3-MP-V1-6-MOLY, I wonder if a newer version of the ALPS rom would work?
Hi,
Glad you got it solved! As far as further questions, not much on XDA for your device. But you can ask questions here,

is possible tar.md5 to custom tar.md5?

Hi guys, i have a question...
Is possible create a custom rom (remove vendor apps) from XXXXXXXX.tar.md5 file downloaded from sammobile and make your own tar.md5 flasheable Odin file?
For example:
Original firmware:
XXXXXX.tar.md5
1.5 Gb
Removing vendor apps:
XXXXXX_my_firm.tar.md5
800 mb
I am interested in doing this without custom recovery, not zip flashable file, and not root.

Yes, you can do this, but things have changed a bit since this guide was written, you'll have to do some research to see what things have changed in this process from kit kat up to the current available android version. There have been some stock security changes that this guide doesn't cover and won't work with these new securities, but you should be able to figure out how to make this work with those securities if you learn to look in the right places.

This will help you create the .tar, you'll just have to figure out how to make the changes you want to make. You'll mostly be working with your system.img once you get it extracted.

TWRP install files for Fairphone 3

Hello,
First post here though in the past I have read discussions on many occasions in search for information and it was always to my benefit, thank you.
My question revolves around the TWRP installation files for Fairphone 3.
On the TWRP website (https://twrp.me/fairphone/fairphone3.html#) are given 2 files, a twrp-installer-.......zip and a matching version of a twrp- ........img, and from the instruction given it is not clear to me what is the purpose of the .img file - are both used concomitantly during the installation, or not.
At one early and critical stage the TWRP instduction reads:
"...Download the correct image file and copy the file into the same folder as your platform-tools as well as device's storage. Rename the image to twrp.img."
Since the file needs to be renamed to .img apparently it is the original installer.zip.
The entire instruction afterwards refers to this downloaded and renamed file.
What then is the the purpose of the matching .img file? Is it used at all? The TWRP installation instruction doesn't even mention it.
Sorry for asking if this is common knowledge, but I did several searches all to no avail.
Thank you
