Can anyone give me an idea of what this feels like? All the reviews I find are about how you can drop it from such and such height which is cool and all but none of them detail how it feels. Does it feel glass like? Will it start to feel sticky? Does it have a bit of give that makes it feel a bit plasticy?
I have it for my iPhone 6 Plus, I was worried it'd feel sticky too.. but its more a harder rubber... definitely NOT sticky in the least. On the inside, it's a honeycomb pattern (guessing this assists in landing) But it's excellent. I hate full cases and it raises both the front and back on, so it'll never land on the screen or back. but it's still slim, because it's just a bumper.
This bumper + slickwraps will be it for me. Just hoping they get the same dope star wars skins they have for the nexus 6!!
Someone else has a thread on this, but I never really liked the non-glass covers. Having super thin tempered glass is awesome because it gives the same feel and clarity.
I'd have to see the rhino shield in real life to know if it's something I'd rather use over TG.

You may be confusing the case with the "complete package"
The rhino shield is a bumper, you can still put at tgsp on the phone. That's what I'm planning to do

Rhino Shield = the screen protector
Crash Bumper = bumper case... or "backless case"
I have a RShield on my OPO. Can't even remember what glass feels like anymore tbh.

DO NOT buy that garbage, get a cheaper tempered glass

While I'm not sold on bumper cases, what I've seen on video of these things they definitely look impressive.

Are there any similar tests where they drop a metal ball on a tempered glass protector?

Oops.. that should be Crash Guard. Bumper on my mind while typing that lol.
I've dropped my phone a few times from waist-height or lil higher. Couple from lap getting out of car. Three of those times my phone has landed flat/near-flat on its' face.
No scratches or any damage from those.
I have a Diztronic TPU case as well. Between that and the Rhino Shield, they've kept my screen intact.
I've had the RS on for so long, I think I've acclimated to it. Still feels very smooth. But I'm sure when I get my 6P, I'll be thinking "oh this is what glass feels like again".... then stick a RS back on it lol.

No, but it's a scenario that if I could just buy one protector it's better. The Rhino shield from what I've seen absorbs a lot of the impact from things. Imagine you accidentally drop your phone onto a rock or something. Your screen protector breaks and you need a new one and if there's too much force the screen below breaks, rhino shield (supposedly) absorbs it and can take the impact from falling on something better. Using a metal ball is just an easy way to show off the situation.

If you could tell me if there's any big difference when you do get it, that would be appreciated. Mainly because $50 is a lot to spend on a bumper+screen protector and I would like to know!
So does anyone know if they're actually making this bumper and screen guard combo (I'd like the back of the phone protector, personally) for the 6p?
I sent them an email and they said they are. Many others have said they got the same email back as well so here's hoping they do.

Yep, they just got back to me confirming they'll be releasing at least the bumper in "upcoming weeks" and that it'll be announced first on their Facebook page.
Hoping they do the whole package so I can get one of their back of the phone screen protectors. Wanna keep that aluminum sexy.

Guys, I am a massive clumsy git!
Had/have an S5 currently in a spigen tough armor that I've needed to re-screen once in past 2 years.
I'm VERY nervous about destroying the lovely 6P that'll be winging its way to me in a week or so...
Is the Spigen offering the most productive? I saw a drop test for the iphone 6 + and it was damn impressive!!

I'm a little out of touch, so is there a better more protective case available for this 5.7 inch beauty?
Thx guys!

I don't have any experience with either the Crash Guard or Spigen cases, but I've watched several tests of the Crash Guard and they sold me on their product. I'll be getting it when it becomes available. I'm still up in the air regarding a screen protector, however. I've always had tempered glass and really like them, but after watching the Rhinoshield videos of their screen protector, it's gotten a little more difficult to make a decision. Here is a link to their product page for anyone who hasn't seen the torture they can take.
http://www.evolutivelabs.com/pages/rhinoshield
In particular, check out the ball peen hammer and ball bearing drop test vids:

I'm definitely buying the bumper from evolutive labs. I like bumpers, but the videos have really sold me onto the product. I'm unsure about the glass/screen protector. Again, the rhino shield videos look very impressive, but I haven't heard enough about it. People use tempered glass often enough and don't complain either.
Spigen is where I will get my tempered glass if I do decide to purchase it instead of the Rhino shield though.
The Rhino shield glass cover has me sold, need to find eviews on how it feels in action!

I would probably throw the Supcase Unicorn Beetle Pro into the mix as well. The regular Unicorn Beetle is damn tough too. Evolutive Labs has confirmed a Crash Guard Bumper for the 6P, but not a PlayProof case.
is the playproof case stronger/more protective than the bumper case do you think?

Never had a problem with any of Supcase's cases.
To be totally honest, all you would really need is the standard Unicorn Beetle case (Not the Pro) and a tempered glass screen protector... Nothing more. It's seriously THAT good. I work in the oilfield and this combination has saved my phone so many times... even times where I thought it was doomed and the tempered glass broke. You could literally drop your phone's screen on a rock from 5ft and it would only break the tempered glass protector. The actual screen will be fine.

Me too other than a lack of a belt clip. That is the missing piece to all the cases out there. How do you carry the phone? Until I get my leather holster or a belt clip/case, I've been putting my 6P in my front pocket. Works for work slacks, but not for jeans.

Rhino Shield's videos don't show comparisons to other forms of protection so it's hard to know the difference without testing it yourself. I've personally never used a rhino shield so I cannot say, but there are things we should consider.
1. Is it better than a standard tempered glass protector?
If yes, by how much?
2. How does it feel?
3. After all this, is the difference, if any, worth the cost and/or really needed?
I can only say, from experience, that a standard tempered glass protector has done it's job at protecting my device... even in some extreme conditions. It has never failed me. With this in mind, and if the Rhino Shield is much better, why should you need it if latter is proven to be good enough. Again, this has been from my experience. The only time I could see the Rhino Shield winning, if it is truly better, is at excessive drop distances, but does that ever really happen?

They work differently. Glass breaks to dissipate energy while the multi layered plastic supposedly reflect some of the energy back. Both help spread the energy across the surface. Not an expert. But a lot of people like glass because the glass ones maintain the same FEEL on the screen while the Plastic ones have a more mushy feel.

Otterbox defender mostly. I love my 6P and think the design is pretty to look at, but slippery as all get out in my hand. I like the Beetle but wish it had a belt clip with it. I bought a leather holster made for an iPhone 6s Plus and hope it will fit the 6P with the basic Beetle on it.

Yeah, that's your problem. Those Otterboxes use like a rubber material that can be very clingy. I don't think you'll have any issues with the standard Supcase case, but the Pro model does come with its own clip so you may consider that one too. Only downside is it's a little bulkier and it hides the beauty of the device whereas the regular model kinda accents its beauty.
You also make a really good point about the glass vs rhino shield. The rhino shield won't break because it's not glass, but the tempered glass will. There are many manufacturers that provide lifetime warranties on their glass protectors though so you could essentially buy 2 for the price of the rhino shield and get one replaced if it breaks while your backup protector takes over. That would probably be the best way IMO... I just don't trust or like the feel of anything other than glass, personally.
Thx all for the great info... amazing insights. What tempered glass system would you endorse?
Do they stick on the screen or are they part of the case? Sorry for being dumb, as I said am out of touch!
I really want to use the phone without a case and just a tgsp.. But I am unsure how scratch resistant it is. I am about to receive a replacement phone from Google as my first had issues. What do you guys use?
Definitely get a screen protector. Just having it in my pockets caused many small screen scratches over time.
As for the phone itself, the beveled metal edges around the screen scratch and dent VERY easily. A slight accidental bump can permanently mess it up pretty badly. The back metal of the phone seems to hold up very nicely, though.
i have no screen protector or case and I wouldnt have it any other way. That being said the edges are a thinner metal then a coke can so it will nick easily
This phone is too slippery to use without a case imo. I use a Spigen Thin Fit to help with grip and I'm happy.
Always wrap your thing!
Using a slickwraps skin. It's much easier to hold without a case because it's less heavy and thinner (due to how long the phone is)
I'm using my phone absolutely naked, have insurance in case something happens to it in lieu of a case.

I feel the same way however I'd like to keep this phone looking good.. I've gone with the Rhino bumper which is thin, discreet and you can still feel the back of the phone..plus the protection is supposed to be amazing.
The only problem I have now is that the case looks good too so I want to protect that now lol.
30 dollars with shipping, I'm in the UK and it came in under a week. A great case.
All I have on my phone is a dbrand skin. Unfortunately, I had an issue where it dropped a short distance (6 to 12 inches) and landed on a corner and it knicked up that corner near the screen pretty good, but not enough to convince me to buy a case yet... lol Haven't had any problems with any screen scratches or any other cosmetic damages yet.

Straight from the evo labs website. No restrictions. Here within a week. I did pay p&p but that's expected. About 4 quid I think.
One thing id like to say though, the rear clearance is not 100% the very centre of the back is slightly exposed, the bumper does not offer complete clearance when you push it against a flat surface.
If you don't know what I mean.
Take your phone and slide the back of it along the edge of a surface, say a mantelpiece or a shelf and whilst the start of the case is covered, towards the middle is not..
Not the end of the world but I'd have liked the clearance, ironically, tech 21 always offers this , something to consider.

Unfortunately, my N6P is my only camera at the moment. I'm sure most people wouldn't even notice the ding from a distance, but every time I run my finger along it, I cry a little inside.
Have a good one!
I have a glass screen protector, a Dbrand black carbon fiber skin for the glass panel on the back, and carry the phone around in a FitBag pouch.
This phone is the first where i must have a case for traction, its soo slippery and i want to hold it casually and treat it like a normal phone. I bet if i had it in my pocket it will just defy gravity and just fly out, would get a skin but seeing how easy it was to bend the bezel with my finger nail, i dont want break it in the first year,
I got one of these, the thinnest case i could find.i know it wont help in a fall but it will help against wear and tear
http://www.aliexpress.com/store/pro...ack-Cover-For-Huawei/1750180_32495581013.html
I've always rocked my phones naked. This time around I'm using a skin. Had a front back skin. Did drop it once too >_<. Thankfully it's just a small dent right above the camera visor. The skin on my phone is slippery so I ordered a more grippier one and took off the front skin because ambient display works better without it.
I have only a d brand frame for the camera.
I have glass screen protector and tried a clear thin case, but am back to no case..just the glass. No problems. I did add a little non-slip round piece to the back..it stays in my pocket just a little better, and totally stops it from sliding off a flat surface.
In and out of pocket all day, I am not real careful about keys or coins and no issues. I have done this with HTC M7,8,9 also with no problems. I hate hiding a good looking phone with an ugly case...and no case I have ever seen enhances the look.
Any one know of a transparant case that is compatible with slickwraps? Bought the galactic series but want some extra protection...
Verstuurd vanaf mijn Nexus 6P met Tapatalk
I think it needs no protector. However,my wife bought an iPely screen protector from Amazon for me.I think it feels perfect. That's great.

I mean order it and if you don't like it return it, it's actually my daily case and it holds up well too.
I've had the same case for the N6 as well and the edges were never sharp, they were quite smooth. The current one I've got on my 6P is definitely better made (feels more solid), so not sure what you meant by saying the edges where sharp?
I've used this case since right after getting 6p last March. Its great, nice feel, good protection for me and looks sharp
2 complaints:
-headphone jack could be a bit wider
-back is VERY prone to scratches
I would buy it again though because I mostly use Bluetooth. If I did get another Id be more cautious about scuffing it up (dont put anything in your pocket with the phone, definitely no keys, probably just be delicate with it as a rule.

thanks for the replies guys,
mate did you have yours for long ? i would like to know how well it holds , i read reviews on amazon that the edges peel off ?
other than that, is it fitting with a glass screen protector on ? because there were reviews stating that it lifts the sgp because of how tight the case fits or something like that.
i will still get this case, because of the fact that it has a matte finish on its back which is very comfortable for 'greasy/sweaty' hands ,
i will get it , for now i got a skin sticker up next is the supcase, i will still order it despite the few nagtive reviews =)
thanks for the feedback.
The skin is going to be a problem. My supcase for N6 gave way at the seams only because i had a dbrand skin on. Otherwise I'm sure it wouldn't have
Been using the larger beetle called beetle pro or something and no problem with scratches, adhesion to phone, or with a tempered glass screen protector after removing the plastic protector that came with the case. I think it came with one of those, but it's been a year could have been a different case. Either way, works fine with tgsp so long ad no integrated protector on the case.
I am using one right now. Its a great case, I have removed the plastic screen protector from the case though.
Dropped it quite a few times, 4 foot on to concrete factory floor. Nothing happened.
Anybody know anything about the Lifeproof Fré? I love this phone but I work on the field with all type of weather and I'm getting scare it will broke due getting wet or dirty. I'm beginning to wonder if it was a good choice because it is not waterproof.
Im really hoping they can release the case already, I know they have been reliable with other phones. Im hoping to using it for vacations and snowboarding this year.

I plan to buy one before we go to the beach h this summer.
Had one for my Galaxy S6 and it worked really well, the only problem was a rainbow effect if you don't clean the glass very well.
The power port cover broke twice but they send me a new both time only by sending a picture of the broken one. You don't need to send the broke case to them. For the warranty it worth the price my opinion.
Do you have to remove your tempered glass to use this case?

I removed my tempered glass. I just got my case and attached it (skipped the water test hehe). So far it's nice, but damn it is quite bulky. I have the XL, yes i have smalls hands ( I'm Asian D. Hmmm idk if I'd recommend it just yet, maybe if I had the regular pixel then I might not have complained, but having this xl and it's case on together is making me second guess. I'll post pics as soon as I can. It does feel protected in terms of water resistant. It doesn't feel as sturdy if I were to drop it, but who knows. It slips off my hands. I'm going to buy a kickstand or finger holder thing where you attach it on the phone or case. If you guys have any questions, I'll do my best to answer.
Eh the buttons (volume and power) are kind of hard to press too. Think about the price and I think it's not worth it now... Haha fml! And the dust gets under the screen, how is this waterproof! I'm scared to try.
Has anyone used this case with a dbrand skin? Would really like to be able to use both.

Just got mine today. No more bulk if not less than my OtterBox Commuter. Only issue I have is there's a good 1mm air gap between the screen and the built in screen protector. I have a glass screen protector on currently which might be causing the gap as there is a black foam piece that creates a gap for the earpiece. I might try it without my glass screen protector in a few days if the built in screen protector doesn't settle.
Received my lifeproof this last Thursday and not happy with the screen protector at all. It takes all the clarity out of the phone. Especially on white screens it looks like its very grainy/pixelated. My wife has a lifeproof on her 7 plus and the grainy/clarity loss is not near as bad. Anyone else experiencing this?

Downward blasting speaker output is slightly muffled but not distorted or garbled like some previous versions of LifeProof cases. I'd say it's definitely on par with the LifeProof Fre Power I had on my iPhone 6.
Earpiece output is perfect and not muffled that I could notice.
As far as for voice input, I made multiple phone calls and asked how I sounded and no one noticed any distortion of my voice.
I'm having issues with recording a video. The autofocus is so bad, anyone else?
I have been searching around and the only bumper I can find for this phone is from RhinoShield. Does anyone have any links to other brands/colors/styles that are available for the Pixel XL?
I currently have a $2 bumper on my S6 from China that honestly has been great but I can't find this exact one from that supplier.
Thank you in advance.
LOL! I think I have spent more time trying to find a backless bumper for this phone than the phone itself. Unfortunately it's been fruitless for me, none other than that Rhino, and that's the one I will buy later anyway.
Please do post here if there are other backless bumpers available for this phone, there are some people like me, and OP probably who just can't digest them full body cases which look awful.
Same here. I really want to add a bumper as well but am hoping for something a tiny bit smaller than the Rhino. I wouldn't mind finding a machined metal one to go along with the brushed titanium skin that I have on my Pixel.
Pixel XL Rhino Guard
I have the Rhino Guard on my Pixel Xl and I really like it. haven't dropped it to test it, but it looks sturdy. However, there are times that I would like a "lite" version of it....I've looked all over, but nothing yet.....
Ended up getting the Rhino and am satisfied with it overall. Agree it could be a little smaller but it's fine.
I kept my dbrand skin on and damaged the skin slightly while putting on the bumper over the final corner. Based on other posts I've seen i was expecting this issue. I just carefully cut the hanging piece of vinyl and got the bumper on without any noticable damage to the skin while the bumper stays on. Only if I take the bumper off will a portion of the skin be missing on the edge and corner.

Isn't the metal around the phone bad for signal?

My delivery date is Feb 7th thru 28th, lol. The epacket from China doesn't even track for me yet, although it does tell me it's valid, so I'm guessing it's still either in China or on a boat to the US.

I got that bumper that you linked and I would say I'm satisfied for the most part. Biggest issue is that the Pixel is a wedge shape so part of the top portion of the back side sticks out while the bottom part is covered by the case. I'm also using a Spigen tempered glass protector and the lip of the bumper case still goes above the entire tempered glass which is great. The buttons on the side are metalish so they're okay. They feel a little bit more mushier with the case on but I have to say that it the buttons weren't THAT tactile to begin with.
In terms of overall feel, it feels a lot wider even though it is just a bumper case and the metal edges makes it feel a lot more premium than plastic or rubber would. The cuts on the bumper are a bit sharp but after a week I noticed they became a lot more dull and rounded.
Overall 7/10, fairly satisfied with the purchase even though the top of the phone pops out a bit lol
I'm sub'ing to this. I kinda like that bumper case.

Can you post some pics please?
subbed
Photos requested. I apologize for the blurryness but my phone's previous camera wasn't too great and that's all I had lol

Received the bumper today. I have only had it on for about an hour. I know the signal well around my house and the yard and I can't say I see a difference. Quality isn't too bad and fitment is OK. The case adds very little to the size of the phone. The volume buttons are clicky but the power button isn't as clicky, although it isn't too bad. There is no lip to protect the back so when you put your phone down, the entire back sits on the surface you put your phone down on. There is a tiny lip on the front though for those who put their phones down screen first.
I need to use it in an every day environment for any other opinions. Here are some pictures.

How well does it slide into your pocket with bumper on?
