How do you guys get your MSL? Non root Sprint. - Sprint Samsung Galaxy Note5

I don't want to call in. How would I get my msl? Also I'm on stock, no root.
Sent from my SM-N920P using Tapatalk

Online with Sprint Chat is how I've gotten mine on my Note 2, 3, 4, and now 5. Just tell them you develop apps and need it to test your app with.

Also got mine through chat. I just asked for it and didn't provide a reason. They gave it to me no questions asked.

You can also try to go online to sprint and activate an older phone for 20 min then reactivate your note 5 again and it should give you programming code for manual programming if needed that would be your msl. But if it shows 000000 then you have to call and ask for it.

Chat worked for me. It was quick and painless.

Call in, chat, or in store. This day and age, they don't care about giving out your MSL. Other than that, there's no way - or at least that I know of.
PS. Don't call a store. We cannot look up account information over the phone.

If you root ... You can use galaxy tools 3.1.8 by idoneapps but u will have to search high and low for the app

Is it possible to swap your ESN to another model phone without going to Store ?

OK I'm a bit of a newb in this department. I have a LG Ally with Verizon and I have been enjoying my phone until it got ran over. . Left on a hood and then found it in the street seconds before it got ran over)
Anywho it still works as in receives calls but the Digitizer and the LCD are toast. . I was looking at just replacing those for around $60 but then I was thinking well crap I can get a new one and just swap over the board and keep everything hunky dory right ? ? ? In theory.
Then was thinking well crap if I'm spending $70+ I should look at getting a DROID Incredible or 2 or X or something. . . But THAT is where this becomes something I can't do.
I have tried getting a hold of my account manager but she doesn't answer her cell (weird right) so this is where I came up with the idea "hey it's just a number can't I put it on another phone"?
So I dunno if I made any sense here, again I am a newb but just asking some questions.
Thanks.
I know Sprint allows you to swap your phone via their website, but not sure about Verizons, if that does not work, than you can just call their customer service and do it over the phone.
You could just call up technical support and tell them are switching to a new device and give them the info. You shouldn't have to go into a store. That is, as long as you're using an actual Sprint device.
Sprint is not going to let you use a Verizon phone or someone else's on their network.
No no no Verizon to Verizon
Just want to know if I can change my own ESN or whatever it is I need to make a phone attached to my account.
Tech support can't do it since I am on a business account.
Bump. ? Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Sounds like you need to talk to your rep as you said then. You need someone (a Verizon rep) to add the new ESN/MEID to the internal Verizon database. That is not something you can do personally.
You should be able to swap your number to a different phone by going to verizon's website and logging into your account. I do it all the time

going to china, how do i get google services to work there?

First up if im posting this in the wrong place im sorry before hand.
with that said here my question.
Im going to china (specifically chengdu) with my unlocked t mobile note 2. How can i use google and other blocked services on my device. im gonna use translator, gps and google drive to backup my photos
Btw i may use either tmo recently annoced free roaming there or just buy a sim for my device. depending on which is better option for data heavy user like myself
anyone?
Use a VPN?

Your unlocked phone should work anywhere on the planet, provided you have a connection somewhere nearby.
A new sim is roughly $10 USD from T-Mobile in Abilene Texas, $20 if your a current customer.
I'm not sure why your Google crap is blocked, mate. It sure should work if your running a version of Android Linux. Perhaps something is borked.
I'm no Unlock expert, but if you do choose to buy a new Sim card, I'd definately look into weather you need to Unlock that one too FIRST.

as for the service i will use up there , most likely wil have to get a local sim since with tmo im restricted to edge

My wife is in China now and seem to access his Google apps just fine from the phone.
She use a local sims.
Yes, if you have google apps already installed on your phone, you don´t need anything else.
It will work normally.
The issue, is only if you don´t have those apps. But that only happens with chinese un root phones.
cheers

[Q] Wallet on T-Mobile Nexus 5

so if you buy a unlocked Nexus 5 from google play and have a t-mobile sim and service will you be able to use Google wallet?

You will be able to use Google Wallet with any carrier with the Nexus 5. The issue before was carrier issued phones like the SG3 were sometimes prevented from properly using Google wallet. Verizon is a good example, they wanted to create their own "wallet" like app, so they disabled you from downloading Google Wallet from the Play store.
so you're saying tap and pay would work just fine on a nexus 5 on T-mobile's network?
I thought T-mobile was blocking its use, therefore you had to modify build.prop and/or go thru other monkey-motions (wallet installer, etc) to get it to work. I'm currently on vzw with a GS3 and have to do all the nonsense to get tap and pay to work. I know the latest version will work on any carrier but tap and pay will not (unless you modify things to make it work)

A 100% unlocked phone directly from google will not gain or lose any functionality just because you pop a sim card in it. Tap and pay will work. I use it all the time on my Nexus 4, and it worked fine on T-Mobile back then, works fine on Aio right now.
Check T-Mobile's coverage in your area, if you live in a pretty dense city/outskirt area, their coverage is usually good. If you're in a smaller town or country side, good luck. Talk to people you know, check coverage maps. Look at Net10, Aio Wireless, and Straight Talk as options too. They all run off the AT&T network. You'll probably have better luck going with a carrier that piggybacks off a real nationwide coverage carrier like AT&T.
This answered my question. Getting a N5 and going to be using ATT sim. I figured it would work being a 100% unlocked phone. Just didn't know if they could enable some block by an att Sim being installed. I guess that sounds silly after typing it out. Lol

Running on Tmobile and it works.
I've used tap and play with Google wallet a few times now with no issues on T-Mobile.
Used mine yesterday at McDonald's, usually I'd have the app opens and with my pin entered. Yesterday I just turned my screen on and tapped it and the payment went through. I was it bit surprised that it didn't ask me for my pin but then I found out it was set to a 1-day timeout.
I have tried using tap to pay with eport vending machines and also at McDonalds. Google wallet always says the status of the transaction is unknown and to ask cashier. The vending machine will say, "sorry, unable to authorize," even after entering my pin and tapping again. I've tried two credit cards. Shouldn't google wallet work without rooting the phone?

There's no such thing as a T-Mobile branded Nexus 5, they're all the same. The carriers aren't allowed to modify them in any way.

SMS

Hoping someone has a solution to my scenario.
Right now, I have a Galaxy Nexus on Verizon. I use my Verizon number for all calls and SMS. I'm test driving my Nexus 5 on GoPhone (AT&T) until my Verizon plan is up (at which point, I'll either stick with GoPhone if I like it, or find something else).
Is there a way for me right now to get my Verizon number's SMS to show up on my Nexus 5? Is there any app, etc.? I don't want to fart around with porting my Verizon number to Google Voice right now - I will do that when my contract is up, and that will be my solution. But I need a solution for until that point.
If there is no way to do this, that's okay. Thanks for reading. (For calls, I'm just going to forward my Verizon number to my AT&T number through Verizon's webpage).

Thank you for the suggestion. When I downloaded it on my Nexus 5, it told me "Integrated messages is only available for Verizon customers," so I think it's not gonna work. I think I'm just SOL until I port my Verizon number to Google Voice.

I have seen those. I'll probably set one of those up. I was really hoping for an app that would allow me to receive SMS on my Verizon phone, and send as my Verizon number from my Nexus 5. Guess we're not there yet, without the Google Voice port. Again, thanks for your responses!

Google voice is great. Just do it.
Only issue is you can't currently receive MMS through it.
I use GV + straight talk prepaid
It's cool too because you will be able to keep your old number and receive all your calls to it too

DCB_ASSOCIATION SMS Text?

Hey guys I was just reviewing my outgoing text messages and saw an out going message to this following
TO: 1505
Message:
DCB_ASSOCIATION: <appears to be an md5 checksum>
I am on TMOBILE USA
I did a google search and it looks like another n5 user, on tmobile, posted this the other day as well.
I had my buddy, who is on his n4 look and he did not see this.
I am ASSUMING this is calling back to TMOBILE for possibly a phone description? I am not sure though.
Anyone else?

I got this today right after I sweet up carrier billing in the play store. Also on T-Mobile and Nexus 5.
This just happened on my Nexus 4 with 4.4 from the Google factory image. I'm on T-Mobile and used carrier billing to buy a app too.
Carrier billing verification - on Sprint. It's not just a T-mobile thing.
Confirmed Google Play Store Verification

So I was able to confirm that this is a text message sent via your Carrier to confirm that you would like to charge an App (or Play Service) to your Phone Bill.

I just couldn't stop thinking about it. Especially because I left this afternoon. It's now late night and everybody is still talking about the same thing.
I got it on a t mobile phone after downloading and installing modded play store after trying a purchase using t mobile billing. The sale failed, but I still got the message. I know lp isn't a great subject to bring up here, but the purpose of this isn't to steal software, it's to identify a problem.
Yes, I also have T-Mobile and saw that on my phone. Seems the msg was sent while I was asleep.

I got this out going text on my galaxy s3 note.
Does any one know wat it means or why my phone is auto texting by itself?
Did you set up a payment method on Google Play with your mobile operator?
Sent from my Nexus 5 using Tapatalk
I just looked this up as I had the same outgoing text. It is a SMS sent to your carrier when you set up and possibly every time you make a carrier billing purchase. Nothing to be scared of.
Posted with the official XDA Developers app for Android.
My phone sent an sms to 9210 that read: DCB_ASSOCIATION: followed by 24 random upper and lower case letters. This was right after I authorized google play to bill my carrier for purchases. It was an automated text to Sprint confirming carrier billing authorization.
Confirming that I got this from Google play store, going to AT&T, but for a 0$ item. Really don't understand why i have to provide it for a 0$ eBook. But...meh... It's not malicious afaik.
I just got this tex an i think its a phone tap or phone tracking ive sent simaler things to people in the parst
It's a message from T-Mobile when they get a request from Google play to add T-Mobile as a billing option. The first part "DCB_ASSOCIATION:" tells you that it was to make an association with your phone account.
Its because you have T-Mobile and you used your T-Mobile account as a payment option. They text your phone to verify...Its just a dcm from T-Mobile...the code received possibly means if it were excepted(regular account).. Or didn't (prepaid..pay as you go)
