this is an issue with 4.4 kitkat. to fix it temporarily, toggle airplane mode or restart the phone, then toggle wifi.
for a permanent fix, i've read that deleting the wps_supplicant file under data/misc/wifi will do the trick. note that this will also delete all your saved wifi networks and passwords.
what i'm trying at the moment is just editing that wps_supplicant file - cleaning it up and just keeping 2 wifi networks in it (one for work, one for home). So far it's working well.
Just to make it clear, search the internet, other phones on kitkat intermittently have this problem.

What I'd try is turning off BT temporarily and see if WiFi works. Also, some people have reported WiFi issues after installing and using certain apps (a flashlight app, the app GasBuddy.) If you have one of those, try uninstalling and restarting the phone.
If that doesn't help, try restarting in safe mode to rule out another third party app. Long press power like you want to power off until the power off dialog shows, then long-press the "power off" until the safe mode prompt comes. If BT and WiFi works in safe mode, it's a third party app problem.

Hey mines was broken and I tried everything in every post around the web.Slap it,wipe cache,Factory data reset, safe mode nothing worked? then I enabled developer options and switched select runtime from Dalvik to ART and a reboot happened...Android is updating it said as I waited patiently. Maybe just maybe,BOOM I got WiFi Yes.update
WiFi gone again fix was temporary
Sent from my XT1254 using XDA Free mobile app

wi-fi work on 1080
Thanks for give suggestion. Me also turn run time in developers option than phone reboot and upgrade after the process when I turned on Wi-Fi then it on.
Thank's once again.

[Q] Auto off WiFi never comes back on

Anybody else having trouble with the WiFi not turning back on after waking from sleep? I'm using the "Only when plugged in" option for "Keep Wi-Fi on during sleep" to conserve power.
What I'm seeing is when I am connected to a WiFi network and then lock the phone long enough for the WiFi to turn off, the WiFi will say it's on in the settings menu but won't show any available networks even if I hit "Scan". The only way to reestablish the connection is to toggle the WiFi on and off.
I've disabled Smart Actions because I thought that was interfering but it didn't help. I've also booted into Safe mode with the same problem.
My router is a Linksys WRT54GS. The settings are: SSID broadcasting, WPA2 Personal (AES), G-only.
I've attached before lock and after wake screenshots to show what I'm seeing.

I kind of see the same thing. Wi-Fi works fine until I leave the range of the router (e.g.leave the house to go to the store). Upon my return I see the same thing your screen shot shows. Turning off wi-fi and turning it back on solves the problem No other phone I've ever owned has ever done this.
I've tried auto connect, leave it on and off during sleep, reset the router and nothing has had any effect.
So it's not just me. I wonder if this is present on all phones or if we just got a bad batch.
EDIT: Well... for some odd reason the WiFi came back on from a sleep just now. I don't remember changing anything other than installing the 4.2 camera and changing the build.prop to a Galaxy Nexus. I shall investigate further.
EDIT 2: Could this perhaps be an ICS issue? (I came from a DROID X with GB) I ask because a GSIII in our house seems to be doing the same thing.
Not sure. My GS III will connect automatically without fail. I just got home with the Razr Maxx HD and had to go through the off and on routine to make it connect. I had the GS III last evening and it reconnected as usual once I got home.
There's an extensive thread on the Moto support forum where everyone is complaining about the wifi signal dropping randomly when connected. You are the only other person I've seen with our issue.
I haven't played with the GSIII extensively so it might have been a fluke that it did that.
I did see that thread but the Motorola support site has been loading very slowly on my end so I haven't been able to look through the whole thing due to my impatience with it.
Something's definitely wrong with the site. There's a thread for that as well LOL.

[APP][4.1+]WiFi and lockscreen Auto Toggle

I had this app already available for some time, but now that I'm using root access and/or the Xposed framework in the newest version it's probably somewhat relevant for XDA developers!
WiFi Auto Toggle allows you to do few things depending on your WiFi connection:
Auto-Toggle WiFi
Build on the WiFi background scanning function on Android 4.3 the app can scan for WiFi access points even when WiFi is turned off. So what the app is doing here is disabling WiFi when you leave your home network, and automatically re-enable it when you're back.
Auto-Toggle lock screen
When you are in a trusted location you're probably tired of entering your PIN code all the time. WiFi Auto Toggle is doing this job for you and disables your lockscreen when you are connected to a trusted WiFi network.
Limitations
Disabling the lockscreen works without root on a 'normal' phone on Jelly Bean and Kit Kat. But there are limitations on some phones and on newer Android versions:
* If you have a Samsung phone then root access is needed to work around Samsung's firmware modifications. This is done by an Xposed module that comes built-in with the app.
* If you are already running Android L then SuperSU is required to get the persistent background process running that is needed to toggle the lock screen. Due to new SELinux limitations however this process can no longer be launched without root. Also it currently doesn't work with other Superuser apps, it's only working with SuperSU. Root apps need to switch the SELinux context and SuperSU is the only one supporting this.

[Q] D6633 Lollipop - Location based wifi missing

This used to be in Stamina mode, but I can't seem to find it anymore. Has it moved to another setting (tried looking but can't find it) or has it been completely removed?

It is not missing in D6603. Settings : WI-FI : press the tree dots that are showing in the upper-right corner : Advanced : and there it is.
Do you mind telling me where you can find it there coz I seem to overlook it.
Screenshots from advanced in the wifi settings.
I don't see any location based wifi options here.

Also according to Sony, they removed this feature: https://talk.sonymobile.com/t5/Xper...out-Lollipop-BALTIC-GENERAL/m-p/959335#M24468
Instead you can use Smart Wifi Toggler (or any other app, they all share the same idea). It works basically well and SWT has as well an option to prefer 5Ghz WLAN.

I have wifi-o-matic (similar function), which I used before I had the z3, however trying it on the z3 it seems to open the wifi at random points and never closes it.
Smart Wifi Toggler works properly after some learning phase. I can see Wifi switched off, however the power history shows it all the time on.
Seems Sony got rid of "location based wifi" because they think Google's own scanning always available option has been improved in Lollipop. I very much doubt that.
If wifi matic doesn't improve, I will give smart wifi toggler a go.
I really liked the fact that Sony had baked in the wifi option into their rom, so was slightly annoyed that they removed it with the lollipop upgrade.

Bluetooth creating constant notifications

So with bluetooth on, I get a constant notification whether a device is connected or not. This is all after the MM upgrade.
Steps already taken:
- Verified reminder is turned off in accessibility.
- Cleared cache.
- Removed all BT devices
- Factory reset.
PLEASE HELP
@jasong127
Try settings > wireless and networks > nearby device scanning > off.
Let me know if this works. It uses BT even when off. I turned mine off long ago. Never had your issue and unsure if this may solve it.

That was already off. I think that when my car (chevy mylink) was connected, there's an option to "Allow Contact" or something like that. Problem is, when the truck is no longer connected, all the other options move to off, except this one.
Happens with one other device too (my home phone system). I have to unpair them and it stops. Pretty much seems like a bug to me.
I will have to test this on my ford transit the next time i use it. I do know it always resets the 911 link, which is annoying.
I'm having the same issues. Just did a factory reset and have not paired any bluetooth devices. But the minute I turn on bluetooth I start getting notifications. Help before I flush my phone.

Did you have items at one time that were paired? The way I found out the solution is to unplug ever BT device in my house and start one by one. BTW, I have 1 home phone, 3 speakers, and a computer that all use BT. Turned out to be the home telephone that was the cause of it.

[Nougat] WiFi and cellulair connection issues

The fact that our Nougat update got a bit late was annoying. The update was released and them feels were amazing..
However, at this point I am about [.....] < that close to throw my phone across the room... every single time I lose not only my WiFi connection but at some times even my cellulair connection...
This has never happend on either Lollipop (5.1.1) or Marshmellow (6.0.1). My phone has never been rooted and is up to date according to the last Samsung updates. I am currently running the latest 7.0 build (NRD90M.G920FXXUE5QE8), Security patch of May 1, 2017.
Some screens to show my issue:

"lightbox_download": "Download",
"lightbox_share": "Share",
"lightbox_zoom": "Zoom",
"lightbox_new_window": "New window",
"lightbox_toggle_sidebar": "Toggle sidebar"
}
As you can see, the first show no cellulair connection but a working WiFi...
The second shows the other way arround, no WiFi but a working cellulair connection. Both screens are taken tonight a few minutes apart.
I have tried:
- Reboot
- Wipe cache
- Forget and reenter WiFi
- Safe mode to exclude apps (but even in safe mode both connections will fail at some time)
I have performd a factory reset just after the OTA update and I haven't changed anything special within my phone, haven't installed any extra apps.. So I am a bit lost.
Anyone else with this issue?

I have the same issue. Not really sure what to do. I'm thinking of just taking it to the Samsung store and trying to get it replaced.
Did you find any solution?
Sounds like your data keeps bouncing from hspa to LTE and back. Whenever it does that it can be disconnected for more than a minute. Make sure you don't have download booster on and maybe lock connection to one type. Wcdma or gsm. Other than the usual crappy s6 signal it has been worse on mine since nougat aswell.
