Guys / Developers / Hackers:
most of users with Samsung windows phone 7 are facing difficulty on setting carrier MMS on their phone in country that are not support by manufacture.
we need to allow us set the MMS manually.
I live is Saudi Arabia and users with HTC Windows Phone can send and receive MMS because HTC Setup connection is configuring their MMS according to their mobile carrier, however, Samsung users here and in some part of the world are not able to setup their MMS.
with all these tools and hack for WP7 available for WP7 now in internet I wonder why people did not came to find a solution for MMS manually.
Please help us…
Samsung, pretty hardware, software aux.

Well now i realise this varies from countries... I live in Portugal and here we are not able to use MMS on the TMN carrier because maybe the Connection Setup from HTC is not making the right settings. It works fine on other networks like Vodafone and Optimus, but not on TMN.
Opposite side both Omnia 7 and LG Optimus seem to have no problem with MMS here...
If you flash your phone with an unbranded ROM from samfirmware.com then the network setup application is working fine and you should be able to send/receive MMS.
Mine started working asoon as it was unbranded and downloaded network setup application.

This doesn't sort all problems - eg I'm in the UK and I use Giffgaff and there are no settings available for their network, network is detected as O2 pre-pay (they run over O2 but obviously will use their own infrastructure for MMS etc.
Data works fine using my manually added APN, just MMS not working.

WHich unbranded load did you use? I have tried I8700XXJK1 and still no luck. Also can't seem to side load Samsung Tools, gives me "cannot find phone" error.

I bought mine unbranded and it has XJK1.
You should be able to download Network Profile from the marketplace. Just go to Samsung Zone and it should be listed there.
sim card
I used Samsung Tools and my MMS and Data info was automatically entered.
I should note that I was able to change the MMS and Data profiles stored on the sim card with my old phone, a Nokia E71. I'm guessing that has something to do with it since I turned ADC on.
My carrier is Cincinnati Bell btw, so their info is not listed in the Samsung Network Tools app.
Guys,
No solution until now... I really cannot believe that..
Some smart developer already find a solution for phone backup and language keyboard which it consider more complicate than MMS setting.
What i need to do is to enter the MMS configuration manually or create a file with MMS configuration and deploy it in the phone..
Any developer out there helps us…
What you mean MMS not working? I sent several Pic messages from my new Omnia to several Iphone users, but I never got any reply back.. so could it mean they didnt got my message in first place?? I have to call and ask them now.. I thought MMS worked on Omnia like any other IPhone..
the network app works.
im in aus.. and i had it set to vodafone P and it never worked for me
then i realized... network app .. was using a completely different region's vodafone on my phone
Now i have vodafone AUS set and it works perfectly
i already install network profile app but it dose not help me to set up the MMS.
to make it more clear to you guys, check these snap shoot:

in this above picture you see that the profile has been set by default to vox mobile carrier. and by looking at the below picture you can see that i need to setup the network profile to AlJawal KSA but every time i click on it the app show me the little 3dots for long time then it revert back to vox mobile.
if i choose any other carrier it will set it up but of cause MMS will not be working.
note: all HTC WP7 are working fine using connection setup app from HTC
that happened to me
i think....the way i fixed it was
uninstall app
reinstall app
then i took out the sim of the phone..turn it on and either tried setting it then.. or i turned it off agan put it back in and it worked

Man, it will not work either because Samsung did not encode the mobile carrier setting in their network profile.
As many of users updated to their Nexus 5 to 4.4.2 have pointed out, sometimes a very frustrating bug happens when trying to call someone.
Symptoms: CALL ENDED and call drop when trying to call someone and not being able to receive calls. The problem is persistent and is not fixed by entering airplane mode and sometimes is not fixed even by restarting the phone.
Observations: through simulated tests I've managed to find a probable source of the glitch. When I run the phone in "3G preferred" mode (H or H+ near network indicator) and do frequent WiFi connections, the problem appears and after disabling the WiFi I can not call anyone. THIS DOES NOT HAPPEN AFTER SWITCHING TO 2G PREFERRED under Mobile Networks tab in the settings, as well as choosing GSM only through the service menu by entering *#*#4636*#*# in the dialer.
Choosing a network mode other than 2G ( GSM only) brings the bug back and the phone is unusable as a phone.
Summary: 3G modem drivers are either linked to WiFi, or have an independent network reconnection problem.
I have searched high and low and have seen similar stuff happen to nexus 5 users on this firmware and the issue non existent on 4.4 or 4.4.1. However, I do not have a common "empty signal bars" or "emergency only" symptom with this problem. I am in no mood of rooting the phone and reflashing modem or any part of software (seriously, N5 is the first device I do not want/need to root) nor I will return in to the supplier.
Please, raise awareness on this topic as the phone that is intended to work on LTE does work fully only on 2G (GSM only). What the?
P.S. my mobile network provider is Tele2 Latvia, country - Latvia
I think the problem is either your device or your network operator. Poor 3G signals (network problem) could led to phone call problems since 3G is preferred over 2G (since you are selecting it so).
I don't know how the network works in Latvia, but here in Berlin I never use 4G preferred cause there is 4G only in a few spots around the city, but the 3G works perfect.
Okay, so I did a thing I would never do on a Nexus 5.
In order to rule out software issue on this problem, I flashed stock rom from Google Developers website, the 4.4 one. Then, I selected 3G in mobile settings, and connected to Wi-Fi. I could call and receive calls. However, after I disconnected from the Wi-Fi network, I could not call anyone and received constant CALL ENDED messages a second after dialing a number. No one could reach me either. Then, after about 5 minutes, I could call while on 3G/H network, all of a sudden. Then, when calls were dropping, I connected to WiFi and could call!
What the hell? I flashed 4.4.1 then, same problem and now I am on 4.4.2 again, with the same stuff happening. This does not occur on 2G network.

I've noticed the same issue as well and the only workaround is to put on Airplane Mode for about 5-10 seconds and it will work. Whenever I would put it on Airplane Mode and immediately switch it off it wouldn't work. Try it and you'll be fine. It always works that way for me.

Thank you for a rapid reply. Unfortunately, this method did not help. The only way I am able to make calls is after quickly connecting to ANY wi-fi network.

You said the Airplane Mode for 5-10 seconds doesn't work?
Also, I see whenever you switch back and forth from WiFi you do it the slower way. Next time pull down the notification drawer and then press and hold the WiFi icon and it will enable WiFi. Its a few seconds faster doing it that way.

Also, you can expand notifications (like the first one is always expanded) by swiping down the notification list, through notification tabs, in case you missed that!

On the Android issue tracker several people seem to have got over the no call problem permanently by simply deactivating 'wifi optimisation' in the settings.
False alarm.
I've performed an experiment, in which I travelled around the city from most busy to less busy districts and the problem appeared in those more busy. I linked this to some problems with mobile network provider (carrier) and, indeed, it looks like all voice channels for 3g network are occupied. It explains different time it takes for the phone to be able to make calls (stop call-dropping).
It is some stuff the provider messed up with. Fixed by switching to another carrier.
So we all know there are many settings to play around with under the 3845#*850* menu. Under LTE there is a setting to select what LTE band you want to be on. I learned the hard way, DON'T touch those. Your phone will be on whatever band you select and will not switch bands automatically. I can't seem to get it back to the way is was before even with a factory reset so I;m just warning you guys.
Did you get this resolved?
I have done this on my VZW G3. Did you get this resolved? I selected b4 and b13 and now I that I see you'd thread I'm wondering if doing this will lock me out of the new Qualcomm band unlocking using QPST.

Yes I have found a way. This is with the d850 model so it may be a little different
1. Download the application Shortcut master found here: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=org.vndnguyen.shortcutmaster.lite
2. In the application, press the menu button and select "secret code explorer"
3. Look for the option that has "com.lge.hiddenmenu.updt.UnitedDebugToolReceiver" and press it then press explore
4. Next look for RAT_Selection with the description under it as "com.lge.hiddenmenu.lte_only.RAT_Selection. This one is about 60% of the way down the menu. Don't get it confused with the one that says wcdma in the description.
5. Once that's launched, Select Wcdma or CDMA only. Wait for it to connect, then select LTE only, wait for it to connect then select the multimode option of whatever network you're on (AT&T: GSM/WCDMA/LTE auto VZW should be CDMA/LTE auto)
6. To confirm no specific LTE band is selected, back out of that menu, then scroll down to "BandSelection" Do not go to "LteBandSelection" it will give you the wrong options. Once in the menu, it should say none selected and you should still be connected to LTE.

On my ATT device it would stay on the band you selected only and wouldn't automatically switch between them.
edit: try going to "com.lge.hiddenmenu.kddi_only.NetworkMode" change your network mode to Gsm/WCDMA then to LTE only then back to LTE/GSM/WDCMA and it should reset whatever you may have selected in the other menu.

So i have had this problem for a while. My fiance has a g3 as well and it connects to 4g lte. Hers isnt rooted but mine is. I have followed all of the instructions that you posted to fix the problem, but when i tap on lte only, a message box comes up that says failed, sane with automatic. When i tap gsm or wcdma, it says success. Any ideas what might be going on. Any help will be appreciated!!!
Here is the screenshot, sorry it took so long. Any one that I hit that contains LTE in it comes up with this fail message. The only ones that will show success are wcdma and gsm. Thanks for your time!!!

Scared the **** out of me... (Fixed)
I accidentally selected one of the bands, and it wouldn't automatically switch anymore. I have to say I have an unrooted D855. I came online to search and scared the **** out of me, and nothing I tried from this thread worked. I happened to stumble upon a thread teaching how to enable LTE on some G3 devices using this menu, and they said settings only last UNTIL REBOOT. So came my hope:
FIX: Just reboot.
Verification: I selected some band that has no 4G network at my location, 4G disappeared. rebooted. 4G appeared. Problem solved. Not sure why it didn't work for TS (maybe TS is rooted), but worked for me (unrooted).
When i click LTE only i get an error message saying "Restricted access changed" voice service is blocked? and it doesnt connect to the LTE network which in my case is band 3 1800mhz. please help . when i try selcecting the band manually is says failed.

I have the same problem. Any help ?
Hi, first sorry for my bad english and this is my first tutorial
soo! lets start!
recently purshase a samsung s5 from verizon and i see the specs the lte bands are compatible with my network here in mexico(telcel)
soo i put the sim in the phone and he only takes 3G and H+, i go to options to change network mode and.... the problem is there no option for GSM/WCDMA/LTE, only Global, LTE/CDMA and GSM/WCDMA and for that reason dont use the band 4(1700/2100) to use 4g
i loocking for tutorials and no luck, i try the Phone Info menu(*#*#4636*#*#) and menu not pop up like other phone i have, thats why i make this tutorial to have 4g data for gsm networks and the most important you can make phone calls without change to GSM/UMTS or something like that
FIRST OF ALL I'M NOT RESPONSIBLE IF YOU BROKE YOUR PHONE FOR NO FOLLOW THE GUIDE
i have rooted with rick's rom v20 nk2 firmware i dont know if this work on other rom, soo let us know if this work in other rom or fimware BUT YOU NEED ROOT
if you have enable already the hidden menu then you can skip to step 2 if not follow step 1 to enable
1.you need to enable hidden menu: this can be done be modifyng in text editor with a program like root explorer, the file from this directory -----> /efs/carrier/HiddenMenu file
like i said with a text editor open that file and change OFF to ON and save, reboot the phone
2.when the phone fully reboot, open the phone app and dial this --->*#27663368378#
with that you enter in the servicemode
3.in service mode Select: [2]UE SETTINGS & INFO, then [1]SETTING, then select [2]SYSTEM, then [9]NEXT PAGE and then select [7]LTE BAND ON/OFF, then [2]LTE B4 ON/OFF, and finally [1]B4 Enable, need be selected like the image below:
{
"lightbox_close": "Close",

"lightbox_download": "Download",
"lightbox_share": "Share",
"lightbox_zoom": "Zoom",
"lightbox_new_window": "New window",
"lightbox_toggle_sidebar": "Toggle sidebar"
}
then restart your phone
4.now its fully reboot open the phone app and dial again ---->*#27663368378#
enter in servicemode again and select [2]UE SETTINGS & INFO, then [1]SETTING, then [1]PROTOCOL, then [2]NAS, then [1]NETWORK CONTROL, then [5]PREF MODE SET, and finally [7]GSM_WCDMA_LTE_ONLY and wait for the magic
when yor restart your phone says no service and pop up the menu dont service and tells you to change to global mode please cancel and wait for reception! if you change to global or other mode you need to do again the step 4 to put again in GSM/WCDMA/LTE ONLY
THATS ALL!:good:
NOTE: I WAS PLAYING IN THE LAST STEP BEFORE [5]PREF MODE SET IN THE [1]NETWORK CONTROL MENU, I CHOOSE [4]BAND SELECTION INSTEAD OF [5]PREF MODE SET, SOO IF THE STEPS DONT WORK LET ME KNOW TO ADD SOME EXTRA STEPS IF NEEDED

its not only 1700/2100 LTE, when you make a call the phone automatically change to 3g umts
thats why call GSM/WCDMA/LTE
with this you can use verizon samsung s5 like others gsm phone 4g
*#27663368378# doesn't take me to the Menu? Is there another way?
How do you set it back the way it was? Or how do I turn off the GSM stuff. All I care about is better Verizon signal.
Once I did this, my signal has been bouncing back and forth from full bars down to 3. Any idea why?

When I make these changes it still drops me to 3G on calls. Not sure what the deal is really. Was hoping for 4g/calls at the same time.

Try switching from sim use to nv use. It's in the service menu under rtre config.
The phone supports LTE Bands 2,3,4,5,7,13,17 and 20. I'll post back
Tried and so far, nothing stops my phone from dropping to 3g when making a call. Also, some of these changes cause speedtest.net app to think I'm about 5 states away from where I actually am. Switching back, it puts closest server back to Indiana.....
I am using T-Mobile on this phone so not having to have my phone drop data to make phone calls would be great. I wasn't able to get this to work, but would be interested in knowing if others on T-Mobile can get this to work.
Thanks

you need to check the bands, if there are compatible with the band of tmobile the process will be similar but depend of the bands and the baseband

i tried this with Verizon branded s5 on T-Mobile and it did not work. It wouldn't even show up as LTE. Straight dropped to H+.
Is doing this the same thing as what 5.0 does in the mobile network settings? I upgraded to 5.0 previously and it switched one of the settings to GSM/UMTS/LTE which it was previously GSM/UMTS.
Does anyone know if running a custom ROM will resolve this issue?
Does anyone know if it's possible to enable Verizon voice cdma band on a gsm/LTE (t-mobile) model s5 ? Or is the hardware in the sprint/Verizon models truly custom?
I tried this on my g900v S5 running Ricks Rom. Step one change off to on resulted in soft bricking with reboot having a toast pop up saying systemui has stopped. Touch ok and it goes to the home screen then same pop up loops back to lock screen over and over.
How to fix?
In recovery-advanced-file manager, when selecting the efs file, nothing is in it to edit and it only shows "up one file" or something like that.
What should be checked under "mount"? There are checkboxes for Micro SDCard, Internal Storage, Data, Cache and system.
Thanks

All credit goes to BlueFox721 as this was a method he discovered on the Note 8. I tested it and it seems to be working and it does not appear to count against hotspot data (i'm on Sprint). Settings still stuck after reboot!

Step 4 – Navigate (scroll down) to com.test.LTEfunctionality and select.
Step 5 – Select the first item labled "LTEFunctionalityTest" and select launch.

If your APN settings get greyed out, dial ##brand# from the dialer. After your phone restarts, your APN settings should be editable again.
IF someone has another SIM they can test it with, perhaps APN settings CAN be added. If I had another carrier's SIM, i'd test it now.
This method does not work on Sprint build U1ARBG (March Ota update) I also tried this method with the build that the s9+ ships with, but it didn't work either.
I'll give it a shot on T-Mobile.... Thanks for sharing!
*edit*
It will not allow me to change APN Type and ADD DUN on TMO...
Thanks. It worked for me. I am on G965U1 on Sprint.

Which build are you on?
I'm on software version G965USQU1ARBG, if that helps.
Sweet! This seems to have worked for me as well. U1ARBG

Trying exiting out of Shortcut Master Lite and starting from step 1 again. My settings were greyed out at first, but when I went back in, like magic, the settings were no longer grey. I hope that works. I restarted my phone and I am still able to edit the settings.
EDIT: Video of the change settings in action https://drive.google.com/open?id=1arIgeXz6jy_DnpctX0_zhpfZzdkjvquW
this allows hotspot but it still counts your data right?

Yeah, not working here. Thank you for the video though.
Prior to the U1ARBG update the APN2 EHRPD Internet I was able to add the DUN, but LTE Internet was greyed out.
Now I can't even edit EHRPD

Seems to count against your regular data, BUT not hotspot data.
I'm on T-Mobile and all I did was add a new APN in the Mobile Networks setting page, copy everything from the default/grayed out APN but added "dun" at the end of the APN type and it seems to be working for me.
I've maxed my hotspot data allotment so I should be getting speeds in the kbps but I'm getting 10+ mbps with this change. Still counts towards regular data though.
Can this work on tmobile network Cruz ican add to my line igot really old plan if I want add hotspot yo my line I got pay more for my old plan
Sweet! Working on my Sprint G965USQU1ARBG.
BUT, I recall that this same mod worked on the S7 Edge when it was first introduced, but eventually a Sprint update reversed the edit and wouldn't allow you to edit the APN settings. Let's hope that doesn't happen here.

Odd, it's working for me.
Just want to confirm i bought the unlocked S9 plus at bestbuy today and tethering hot spot works out of the box on the Verizon grand father unlimited plan. i didnt get the annoying add telling me i had to pay $29.99 to use the hot spot feature. I took some screen shots for you guys to prove it
Working fine here on Unlocked GS9+ with Sprint SIM card.

Thank you. I'm able to modify and add new APNs using this method. I have the USA unlocked version.
With my Sprint S9 Snapdragon, I have been scouring the internet for two days almost nonstop, simply hoping to find some magical way to prevent Sprint from forcing my tether to be capped. I have tried dialer options, I have tried every random HiddenMenu shortcut, I have tried ADB CMD and trying to rewrite the APN by hand, I have tried going into the settings and going through Mobile Networks, I have tried mounting /system in the recovery menu, I looked into changing the CSC because it's linked to APN locking... I've literally tried it all.
PDANet+, FoxFi, EasyTether, ClockworkMod Tether ... none of them would work. They would automatically be stuck at 2mbps instead of my normal 30 to 40. Hiding tether/hotspot this way was NOT an option at all.
And then following this to go into the APN settings, exiting out, then going back in again... it finally let me change the god damn junk! THANK GOD
Specifically, I think I had to do it in this order:
1) Open the Shortcut Master Lite and open LTEFunctionalityTest
2) Open LTE APN Setting
3) Open an APN you want to change.
3) If it's greyed out, close everything and then restart from #1.
4) When done editing, save, and you should be good to go.
If that doesn't work even after trying repeatedly (make sure Shortcut Master Lite is completely closed, etc) ... then you can try the following which allowed me to edit the APN on a sister Sprint S9+ phone:
1) Dialer App, ##3282# (DATA)
2) Edit
3) Sprint MSL for mine is 000000
4) APN Settings
5a) "APN" and "APN protocol" should be editable. Make a minor change, save your APN.
5b) Then change them back, save the APN again. Do this for each APN you want full access to.
6) Open the Shortcut Master Lite and open LTEFunctionalityTest
7) Open LTE APN Setting
8) If it's greyed out, close everything and then restart from #6.
9) After you finish editing, save, and you should be good to go.
Consider this working on a Sprint S9+ & Sprint S9 Snapdragon SM-G960U - 8.0.0 Oreo Build Feb 10th

This is very important to me because I live in the country. There are no internet service providers out here, they refuse to run data lines. My Hotspot is the only option I have and I switched to Sprint from Verizon for x3 faster speeds.
Again, thank you very much. If this didn't work, I would have had to wait until TWRP or Root was possible on Snapdragon to change the APN.

Anyone know the package name for the Sprint Hotspot App? I'd like to be certain I only use the native hotspot by freezing the Sprint version using Package Disabler Pro.
