Touchscreen reactivity problem - Xiaomi Mi 4C

I want to buy this phone but I have seen in a review that is present a problem with the touch reactivity. The reviewer had some problem writing fast with the keybord and also with the image zoom.
Had someone experience in that?
Thanks

Could you tell us which update exactly fixed that? I'm using multilang-ROM from xiaomi.eu.

Just bought one yesterday and have been testing it. Yes, touch wasn't sensitive first out of the box, especially the capacitive buttons. Updated the official stable Chinese Rom v.7.0.7.0 and touch has improved significantly. No slower than my HTC M8 and smooth as silk. But it took me a while (with lots of failed attempts) to download the 68MB incremental update from the updater, considering I'm in Hong Kong even. Antutu 64 bit score also went up from 45xxx to 51xxx just by updating Rom.

Hello, I checked the downloads on the MIUI site and can only find the full download for the latest stable Chinese ROM. Only the developer ROM shows incremental. Where did you find the v.7.0.7.0 incremental ROM?
Also, I just received my Mi 4c on Friday and have it all setup with Google apps etc.., if I update to this ROM will I lose all my data on the phone? Google apps? etc....
Thanks for any help.

The incremental update is only available through OTA update from the stock Chinese rom. I also looked at miui site and could only find the full version of the stable Rom update. If you're on the original stable rom, I guess you can dirty flash the 7.0.7.0 updated Rom and keep your existing data.

My touch screen broke after 5 days of use. The navigation button became not responsive and the edge touch would not register or it would register multiple times. The screen was also jumping back and forth between different screens. I had to get my whole phone replaced.

I have no problems whatsoever. Only edge tap was a bit hard to get used to.

Same sensitivity problem but I find also this problem on touchscreen https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uPC7Z2ploxc

[OFFICIAL] Gingerbread to start roll out tomorrow!

http://support.t-mobile.com/docs/DOC-1818
As the notice says, what will start today "will be a limited pilot for the update" with "a broader rollout to myTouch 4G customers will begin in the coming weeks and will continue through the end of the year." It sounds like a lucky few MT4G owners could get the update today, but the majority will probably have to wait a few weeks, if not months.
I've had Gingerbread on my phone for a long time now.
My phone is rooted through Visionary, will this cause an issue with the OTA update?
You will not receive an OTA update while rooted.
Can someone make a Backup/ROM for new release.
I don't feel like going back to Stock just to get an update.
I updated the radio and phone is rooted. Don't want to have to give up root just to have a peek at this.

I'm sure one of our amazing devs will have rom for us in a couple days. The devs here are much faster than waiting for an OTA update.
i got my OTA update this morning at 745am central time.
Why do rooted users want an ota? That takes away the point us using xda, just equity for devs to make a better version with more features and fixes.

Because sometimes the stock rom is better than the custom built roms. It took a long time for me to find something that was nicer than the stock phone.
For me, a lot of the custom roms are themed in a way that looks terrible to me, and a lot of them just feel inconsistent. The stock MySense that came with the phone was much nicer to use. It wasn't until the Sense 3.0 roms started coming out that it made me actually want to switch away from stock.
I rooted to try new roms, but sometimes, stock is better ( for me at least ).

Then you wait for a stock rooted rom. Usually released in a few days after the official one (however for this update it was out about 2 days ago). If you update OTA you will lose root.
Running stock and rooted, that way I am able to change what I want to or leave it as is and have the ability to run apps requiring root

I guess I should have added the caveat that I went with the stock rom but root added. OTA somehow translated to stock with root in my head.

A lot of the custom roms while faster are buggy. I just upgraded from a Mytouch 3G and this phone is still amazingly fast to me, I don't need the extra speed.
I am not sure what advantages the OTA will have for most of us. The custom ROMs have removed all the bloat and are much faster. Additionally, most everyone running a custom ROM has already been using Gingerbread for months now.

I've used many custom roms that are pretty much bug free , and sometimes even stock has bugs, there is no such thing as PERFECT BUG FREE CODE, I've never come across that.

Custom roms usually have the least bugs compared to stock roms not to mention that we get quicker fixes than what Google and HTC can give us. I'm pretty sure you probably not using the stock kernel. Most kernels bundle with stock are minimal line decent at best. Most of these roms in the mytouch community are bug free.

I had stock 2.2 on my original Glacier for about, oh, two hours or so before I got home and rooted/flashed CM7 to it. The power button broke within a month, though, so I unrooted it and switched it out for a new one.
The new one I rooted while waiting for the bus, and flashed CM7 on the bus ride to SF. So this phone has actually only had the stock ROM for less than 20 minutes.

If it's bug-free, wouldn't that also make it stable? Personally I don't need more than 1GHz, but I make a moderate overclock to 1.2GHz in order to reap the benefits of silky-smooth animations and scrolling widgets. App switching is also faster.
I run CM7 nightlies. Occasionally I run into bugs. Very infrequently. The most recent bug I encountered was random soft reboots in nightly #133, which was promptly fixed in nightly #134. Before that, the last bug I found was waaaaay back in 7.0.3 stable, when wifi refused to work properly with faux's AOSP kernel (and this isn't even a CM bug, it was an issue with faux's kernel).
CM7 has been stable enough to be a daily driver since 7.0.0 RC1.

OK, I've got one that's been bugging me. I have a LOT of apps installed and if I have moved a number of the larger ones to the SD Card (to free up /data), once I get to greater than 1GB in android_secure, my phone fails to boot completely and just locks up. It's not the SD Card (32GB Class 10) that has errors (scanned with both Windows and 4Ext), just seems to be too much for the OS to handle.
I'm still running ShiftHackedA05P 2.8 (CM 2.7.3) from days gone by. Suggestions welcome. Thanks.
Edit: And I use Autostarts (Advanced mode) to turn off receivers for apps that I don't want to load, and LBE to disable permissions.
You might try using a Rom that has ext4 support since it supports larger file sizes.

Thank you for the reply, expert one
The folder has ~87 files of sizes 3MB to 40MB, which causes the lockup after booting at random times (sometimes it makes it further and ultimately boots, after MANY battery pulls). Once the folder is pared down to a lesser total size, the phone boots more rapidly and doesn't lock up; seems to be a linear relationship between how many files and the total time to boot until the CPU usage drops.
It might also be that most apps are moving away from app to sd since it isn't used as much anymore.

New issue, perhaps?, I am noticing that when LTE/CDMA mode my connection is showing as LTE only where it used to use ehrpd for transport and thereby still keeping 3g radio enabled. Normally no big deal but at times I am unable to send/receive texts or make/receive phone calls. Has Verizon stopped using this middle transport for LTE? I am unsure why I am always showing LTE only and if this is causing a problem. Switching to CDMA (auto prl) is the only remedy that I have found. Any thoughts?

Not really a problem but I noticed a thread that mentioned A LOT of older devices getting a port of KitKat...any chance that could happen with this old relic? Other HTC phone with some sort of working KitKat are: Sensation, Desire HD, Vivid, Raider, Evo, Amaze and Incredible S...or at least that is what this site claims.
Oh, sorry, I'm new here so I can't post the link.
Santod was working on a KK ROM but since he has newer devices as many of us old bolt users do he puts it on the back burner because the demand for it just isn't there anymore. Be patient and maybe eventually you will see one. Or you won't....

I just saw where Droid Incredible 2 has a fully functioning CM 10.1 rom. Just wondering if that could be possible for us since DINC 2 has same processor, same resolution, same manufacturer, same everything except 4G. I'd love to have CM10.1 if it meant sacrificing 4G (or even all data).
I'm new to all this, but if you think a port is possible or maybe some other way to get this on our device I will give it 100% effort.
If it can't be done then crush my dreams now and I will somehow learn to live without my TB.
Thanks.
Porting the dinc2 ROM breaks data for the bolt since the bolt has an svdo radio setup. I have ported from it before and I either had calling with no data or just data. I'm not saying it couldn't be done but it is out of my area of expertise. Go to infectedrom. com and there is a cm10.2 build made by Santod that has working WiFi. Since data doesn't seem to be an issue for you.

It could be closed for any number of reasons. Cjen isn't a developer by any stretch of imagination. He's the same guy that kanged CM, and liquidsmooth code in the past in roms he called "liquidsmooth remastered", etc. He basically kangs roms, adds and removes apps, then rereleases them himself as though he built them, all without providing the source that would show no commits made by him. The irony is, liquidsmooth 3.2, CM7.2, And thundershed actually worked perfectly for the most part, his so called rom doesn't... If you're interested in gingerbread AOSP roms for the bolt, i'd stick with thundershed and liquidsmooth. At least workshed's and team liquid are real developers and their roms worked...

Haven't tried SuperLuminal's version yet, but the CM12.1 version you find here on XDA is working fine. There are a few bugs, but nothing a reboot can't handle...
Just keep in mind, that both are unofficial builds of CM12.1, as the CM Team haven't made an official version (yet - or perhaps it might never happend)
But give the SuperLuminal's version a shot - and tell us about your experience.

Thanks for response. Is cm12.1 smoother than miui? I find mi4c with miui less responsive than my old oneplus one with cm13. It's quite disappointing that my new mi4c is more laggy than 2years old OPO. Will that unofficial cm12.1 fix it a little? Or just snapdragon 808 is way slower than old 801?

Coming from OnePlus One as well, but with CM 12s, for that little time I spend using stock MIUI, I did not notice any lack or the phone being slower than the OPO. Actually MIUI ran pretty damn fast on the MI 4c - but the reason I moved away from the official, was because Kaspersky found malware on the ****ing phone. So maybe you should check you phone for malware or any unwanted apps. Depending on where you got the phone, it might have been tampered with.
Maybe, you should try to disable/freeze any apps you do not like first and see if that helps.
Anyway, if it's a faulty model you've received, you might want to return it...
Well this cm 12.1 has the nav bar working with capacitive keys disabled while the other one has it still enabled. I'm sure it will be fixed.
Jonas you probably had a reseller modified rom flashed. The EU rom doesn't have any malware.
Hi guys. I use TS rom for a few days. It is very smooth, likewise the Xiobai rom. Everything is working, except...edge double tap. Of course, you can enable it, but then ehile typing on any keyboard (aosp, google), it causes random backs. This feature is super while surfing on internet, but in real life it is too hmm anoying. I don't even touch edges and keyboard hides. When disable- not. It is my only complain. Battery and smoothness are very good. At night with lte enabled takes 1-2%. Best regards from Poland.

Xiaomi Service Framework Mod not work for me
I'm testing SuperLuminal CM 12.1 port from yesterday. It works pretty well so far; edge double tap is OK and didn't cause any unexpected behaviour in my usage.
There is no issue of DT2W not working after booting from recovery (that issue is present on Xiaobai's port, you have to reboot once from the ROM to have DT2W back).
Other than that the two ROMs are pretty much the same to me; Xiaobai's one might feel a little bit smoother in my opinion, but really a tiny bit.
I'm trying to get rid of any stuttering playing with entropy settings in Kernel Adiutor, will report back if I'll find anything useful.

Just wanted to say that I experienced the same thing. I had a Nexus 4 with Minimal OS (Android 6.0) and it was sadly faster than the Mi4C.
I'm not saying that the Mi4C is slow. It is fast. But i was expecting something more. Expecially while typing (as write here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/mi-4c/help/expected-t3274918) i can feel the difference.
The Mi4C also have some micro-lag during transition that take away some joy on the daily use..
I'm probably going to try one of theese CM12.1 and see if i can get the same responsiveness i had with the N4
New rom is out now in Team Superluminal site.

It is pretty stable. I'll been using TS PAC-rom 5.1.1 now for few days and I haven't noticed anything. But like our news says, IT IS UNDER TESTING for now. So if you like to try, take a backup of your current rom. And if you don't like it, you can revert back where you was.
There is lots of options/features from great roms. Like the PACman roms slogan goes "ALL IN ONE"
Does it have nav bar option?
Piston Headset problem under CM
I1m using the Mokee 5.1.1 Rom and its really great, I only have one big problem with it: My 3-button Piston2 headset doesn't work properly, only the play/pause button responds as it should, the volume rockers only open the dialer. It worked perfectly under Miui, but I love these custom roms much more!
Is it possible, to find a solution for this problem?! I'd love to try your rom, especially if there's any chance it will work!

Some questions before getting the u11 life android one version

Hi there,
i´m thinking of getting the u11 life here in germany and its only available as android one version. So now i have some questions to people which already own the u11 life (android one version).
1. Is HTC taking their promise serious and its getting monthly security updates very fast? (i know its just on the market for 2,5 months but at least one update should be there)
2. Is everything working (hardware related) like it does with international version (like dt2w, sqeeze and so on)?
3. Is it possible to use the custom roms and kernels here from XDA or are those only for american (sense) version?
I hope someone could answer those questions and helping me to decide if i get the u11 life or not. Thank you!

Had mine less than a week, but here it goes. The international version is the one with Android One and the one you buy i Germany is therefore the international version. The other one with Sense is only available i North America.
When i started my phone, it downloaded and installed the latest update, from december. Squeeze works, but i'm not that fond of it, but that's me. Can't remember reading about dt2w, never used it probably never will, the fingerprint makes it kind of obsolete.
I still waiting for a reliable method to root my phone (no twrp available), at least i have unlocked the bootloader.

Hi there,
i´m thinking of getting the u11 life here in germany and its only available as android one version.
3. Is it possible to use the custom roms and kernels here from XDA or are those only for international versions?
I hope someone could answer those questions and helping me to decide if i get the u11 life or not. Thank you!

I have the Phone since some weeks and here is some help.
1) My phone came with Android 8.0 November Security Update and after i connected it to Wifi it had the Dezember Security Update. So far on January there is nothing.
2) "Squeeze" or Edge Sense works as expected. Although i also don't use it often. I never saw or heard anything about DT2W with the Android One version.
EDIT: HTC’s USonic is also available. And you can unlock the phone with FingerPrint on Home Button (probably the closest thing to DT2W).
3) I haven't tried yet but there seems to be already a Kernel available without mentioning any special version. See https://forum.xda-developers.com/u11-life/development/kernel-cleanslate-v1-0-0-oreo-sense-t3724725.
I'm very happy with the Phone, The build quality is good (still Moto Play Z feels superior), the battery lasts 1-2 days. Don't get alarmed by the size, the Snapdragon 530 is very efficient and Android Oreo has some improvements also for Apps on Background. The Camera is also very good for the price, still feels a bit slow but the latest HTC Camera App update improved significantly. And the Phone overall feels very fast and smooth and it feels also a high end phone.
Hope you make a good decision.
Well if there is no twrp available i think nobody can tell if the kernels and roms are working on the android one version. But someone with android one version could work together with the dev of twrp for sense version, he asked several times for someone with android one version to help him making twrp+root for android one version. But it seems nobody is intrested in doing something to gain twrp and root access. If i get the u11 life end of february this will change haha.

if you are an advanced user you know you need twrp for getting root. And you only need to copy some files from your device and send them to the dev he will do the work for you. I know there is a way to gain root with magisk without twrp (patch boot img on pc and flash it from pc) but thats a bad way espacialy when there is an update each month. And you could get additional features if using custom kernels. And for ota you only need the stock kernel+recovery as a backup and an app like flashify.
Well, if i can help with extraction of some files and to send them over to someone who would know what to do with them. I most certainly would, but i would need some assistance in which files and then again, someone who would want them to work with.
Hello,
root is available as patched_boot.img for magisk. You can flash in download mode using fastboot.
The update works in the background on Android one version. It is there are two mirrored partitions and the update gets installed on the not running partition. To run updates it is necessary to install original boot.img first. There is no recovery partition.
Dt2w is not available for Android one.
You can find the patched boot here:
https://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=3706652
The custom kernel is only for sense Rom.

No recovery partition?!? Where is the stock recovery than or is there no stock recovery at all?
A BIG Thank You to everybody who posted here, you made my decision much easier and i think i will get the u11 life next month.
Using htc u11 life for a week (buy from germany tho). No need dt2w. You can wake and sleep your phone with squeze
I'm also thinking of picking up the A1 U11 Life. How have they been keeping up on the security updates? Did they put out a January update?

HI,
So an ex nexus 5x owner. Let me try and answer some of ur questions
1. Security updates yes but I also wanted them to do software updates. A nokia non android one phone just got 8.1. When I gave up my nexus 5x in December I was on 8.1. So dissapointed in that sense. There is a nokia 7+ coming out which looks great and is android one. Have a look at that. I contacted HTC and they didnt wanna know re: schedule updates
2. Hardware is good. Overall its a great phone, never misses a beat, design is outdated though, lovely screen, I have the 4 gig version
3. Already been slated here for asking for a bit more involvement from the dev community. Those things may be available, but few and far between. Ahhhh, i miss my 5x

Haha thanks for your opinion, but this thread was a month or so ago and next week i will get the u11 life. Last week i was able to test it for an hour and the most important thing for me is that i can use a phone with one hand and my fingers dont hurt after an hour of using it with one hand. The u11 life is able to fill that perfectly. You dont need any development if you have the android one version and the differences between 8.0 and 8.1 are very small so it doesnt realy matter if you have 8.0 or 8.1. Security updates are much more important than small version updates. And the design is also personal taste, i dont like those rounded corner displays, i dont like to have a display without brezels that is so big that you cant use it with just one hand and not be able to reach every corner of the display. I would love to have an even smaller device like the m7 was 4,7 inch screen and full hd but you cant get it, m7 was the only android device ever with that small screen size and full hd display. Also i love the edge sqeezing feature its brilliant (as u can see google copied it for their devices) HTC was and is the only company that brings innovations that last for years and get copied by other companys. I was involved in android development for years for so many different devices (mainly HTC and Sony) but there is nearly no device on the market which has 100% functionality with a custom rom (yeah i know you get additional features with a custom rom but there is allways a little - for every +). So the promise of 3 years main version updates and monthly security updates for a device which is perfect for my personal taste from hardware side makes it just the perfect device for me at the moment. And belive me i had a lot of different devices in the last 3 years and allways went back to my m7. That wasnt an easy decission for me haha
I'm wondering if anyone would mind commenting further on the camera? The reviews I've read have varied quite a bit. I don't need perfection but being able to take decent pics in low light is pretty important.
thanks

My camera no longer works after two months just crashes now. Even with Google camera ports. I guess the hardware is messed up? Haven't dropped the phone though..

Wow, that really sucks. One of the big reasons to have a phone, for me anyway, is to always have a decent camera with you, just in case.
Did you contact HTC? Would be interested in how they respond?

I doubt they'll help since the phone is rooted. But one day the camera worked, the next it doesn't function... I didn't do any changes or updates either... Just stopped working :/

Just ask them, if they tell you to send it in unroot it and do so. Usually if its a hardware damage they dont care if the bootloader is unlocked or a rooted system. When the m7 had the well known camera problem (purple pictures) they didnt care about unlocked or rooted, even with custom roms installed they switched the camera module without any problems. If you think it might be a software problem, just reflash system (if on sense version) or wait for next update unroot and update and see if its gone.

Did OP abandon this phone?

This is my 2nd OP phone, first was the OPO. Couldn't believe how much life I squeezed out of that phone, and by most accounts OP has been good about keeping their old phones updated and usable.
Instead we've had broken Android 10 on the OP6 for months. Did something change at OP? Between this, unstable TWRP on the 7t, and unlocked bootloader issues with the McLaren, it seems like they DGAF anymore.

I'm running stock Android 10 on the op6 ... What is broken again? I haven't been even rooted on this phone (yet) so I'm not aware of dev related issues... But stock has been pretty good for me.

Im on OP6 beta channel.. OP has provided 4 updates till now and all of them have been pretty good and stable. So its hard to believe that the stable channel is broken and not addressed for a long period.
Its always a good practice to factory reset after a major update. My brother's Galaxy M30 was lagging after the recent Android 10 update but factory reset made it fine again. So maybe it might work for you as well

I'm rooted but did a full wipe incl. data when I upgraded. Had the same lag, battery drain, brightness and keyboard issues people have been complaining about with the latest stable release. Toughed it out for 2 weeks before reverting back to 9.0.9. It sucks because I don't want to give my headphone jack or my rear fingerprint sensor, and definitely won't be sticking with OnePlus if they cannot be trusted to keep a 2 year old phone properly updated. I have not tried any of the beta versions.

I can feel your disappointment bro, I owned a OP2 for 3 years., and we all know how OP DGAF about it.
Yes.

You cant blame OP if you have rooted the phone. Once you mess with the original rom then its on you. I have clean beta official ROM and it works like charm.

This is a stock ROM. I never mess with custom ROMs on OnePlus devices. And the mere fact that I'm using TWRP and Magisk should not break the UI. It never has on any other phone I've had going back to the HTC Evo 4G. On every other phone, stock performs the same whether or not it's rooted. If that's no longer the case with OP then that's another reason to reconsider paying $6-700 for their phones.
Not sure.. But Oneplus literally screwed this device with their Android 10 update.

You might add that TWRP doesn't have anything to do with the ROM, and Magisk is fully systemless, so without active modules, this shouldn't be able to break anything ...

This. Bump!
I even didnt try update to 10...
Rarly came here due lack of interesting new things....except Gcam....
Happy with 9.0.9 and period. Root + TWRP + xXx rom for ViperSound.
Everything works, don`t touch more.
But i really feel OP already left this device to abandon......such a shame.
Or, due to many models, the team is the same with lot more work, anyway we all suffer lack of confidence in them. Or at least me.
Camera, sound =piece of crap
I think all you cant complain about Op support. Say me which brand dice you Active and fresh support on devices older than 2 years.

I don't understand what is your expectation when you say OP has abandoned this device? They worked towards providing Android 10 update, but it was your choice to not to install it. People reported bugs and stability issues in Android 10 update, and OP has worked and fixed many of them, and they are still working on it (been using Android 10 since beta and at current state, very much satisfied with it). But is not beneficial as you have chosen not to use it. If you like using rooted ROM with mods installed, and if your expectation is that OP provides you the mod functionalities in the ROM (if that's what you expect), that doesn't mean they are not working at all on this device. If you are happy with older ROM and do not wish to upgrade, then I don't understand why complain about OP not providing anything new?
Camera and sound are not up to the mark, for Camera, even with GCam I don't find the image quality satisfactory. And this is a major drawback of this phone, and only solution is to buy a phone from some other manufacturer, like Samsung which is better in these aspects (at least that's what I could think of for my next purchase)
Apologies if I sounded rude anywhere.
I'm running the first version of Android 10 that was released and the only issue I have encountered is the black screen while trying to unlock the phone. That's easily circumvented by just pressing the power button to turn the phone off and then back on and done. I've had this phone since launch and it has by far had more updates than any other OnePlus device that I have owned. I have been a faithful customer since the OnePlus 3 and I have owned every device since
OP here. 10 3.1 fixes nearly every issue I was having with Android 10. I'm rooted and running the latest TWRP and having no issues at all except for the space under the keyboard, which is an easy fix. Furthermore it looks like a lot of the issues I was having were with Android itself, not OOS. In any case I hereby withdraw my criticisms of OnePlus' handling of this. Great work, team.
I will also add that I recently acquired a OP7Pro, and while it is a great phone, Android 10 is just as glitchy and 98% of the time it does not feel any faster than the OP6.
