My tablet will not let me download anything from internet unless its HTML or PDF. My google playstore says error code -110 if I try to install an app, will not let me update anything or add previously downloaded apps from my gmail. And my tablet is missing preinstalled apps and I didn't delete them....
Please, help!

Its a Verizon Ellipsis 7. I think she had it on contract before I go it. It has the 4.4.2 and its model number is QMV7A. Can I do ANYTHING at all to fix it? I have screenshots of it but I don't know how to post them on here...

Chances are, do a factory reset, and un-root (if rooted) and it should fix it.
I did factory reset probably 10 times already. Tried different settings in security, apps, developer options, EVERYTHING. Nothing changes... How do I find if it has a root on it?

I've had issues with my phone where google services would eat up all my battery like 50%+.. To temp rid of this issue I would freeze google services, then when I wanted to check out the market I would have defrost services and update gmail info to use market. Now I get the issue stated above. Ive read of a youtube trick, but when I click "my channel" it says sign in and add account which sends me back to Add a Google Account.. Are my only options a hard reset?

Factory reset would be the way to go!
I backed up sd card and did a factory reset, when phone rebooted into recover it said E:format_volume: rfs format failed on /dev/block/stl11. I restarted phone and same issue, not able to connect with market, yet file explorer was able to update by itself? Id like to try the youtube fix, but all i could find was the 2.4.4 version online and when I try to log on it sends me to sync.. Any other options? maybe hard reset??
Hmm.....I'd say GR then go from there.
I performed a one-click, had to download SAMSUNG_USB_Driver_1.5.4.0 after many failed attempts installing stock.. Then flashed vb-fb-build 3 twice consecutively and everything is much smoother Ive been flashing rom after rom etc etc.. So a clean install was good to do finally. Thanks for the help! If anyone has any questions feel free.

How?
How does it solved?
Full wipe and clean re-flash.
Has there been a proper fix for the apk parsing error yet, I've tried a factory reset and also unticking the Motorola security features when setting up the phone?

i managed to fix it doing a full wipe and reset, then when the initial configuration ask you for your wifi and your google account, you must omit both.
then try to install an apk (now is the time to connect to your wifi and download something)

Its fixed in 4.4.2 isn't it ???
And most, not all, can fix on 4.3 by a factory reset as mentioned above.
4.4.2 here, no longer having this issue

I don't own the phone no more now, so unfortunately can't test .
Long story short.. I believe my Galaxy S5 runing CM12.1 is being hacked by an individual I have upset.
Symptoms include:
-Gmail account password changed(not by me)
-SMS from email addresses, spam.
-SMS from random numbers with random characters (vs6ve&$+ugevbs)
-Root icon in status bar wont turn off anymore
-Recent task list showed my system files being accessed by my file manager app when I did NOT access.
-Tons of FC's from all kinds of apps
I have wiped all possible partitions in TWRP 2.8.5.0 and reinstalled newer CM12.1 nightly.. No change.
Changed my cell number, wiped, only enable root when needed, and contantly disable mobile data out of paranoia..
STILL got 1 text from random number with random characters on first day after changing my number and wiping..
Googled and found this info:

Never seen/head of anything like this before but my advice would be to flash your device back to stock using Odin and the stock firmware for your phone. That should wipe it completely and remove and kind of root access that a malicious program could be using. If it continues then all I can think of would be to perform the above procedure and keep the device off until the person you think it is gets bored and stops.
It does sound very strange though as I haven't heard of anything like this being used on average user devices after being wiped.

Good idea about stock firmware. Although after re-rooting I would be just as susceptable to another intrusion as I am now..
Considered staying with stock TW for encryption too..
I just want my AOSP! =(

I know how you feel wanting AOSP but when I said flash stock I meant full stock with no root. At the end of the day it's worth it to be able to safely use your phone if you're being targeted.

Your device can only be hacked if you have physucally installed spy software on your phone

Solution:
Install a DIFFERENT recovery (or a different version, your current one might be infected or the stock recovery)
Wipe everything.
Pull SIM card out.
Install OFFICAL STOCK ROM via the OFFICAL flashing tool.
Don't use your phone until you change your number or mobile operator.
DO NOT ROOT!
Use this app to check if your phone can be hacked via Stagefright: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.zimperium.stagefrightdetector&hl=hr
Profit.
If you are still getting hacked burn or boil your phone and make sure to video tape it, upload to YouTube, and post link here.

There is no way to do it without root.
You could just root, set density and unroot, but then the program you are using to root (iRoot, KingoRoot, etc.) might infect your phone.
Also remember to have USB Debugging ALWAYS disabled (if you are not using it) and download apps only from Play Store.
This is completely hackproof (unless StageFright Detector detects that your device can be hacked).
(Make sure to always update your frimware to the latest version.

Done, done, and done, thank you.
I thought after all that.. it would be ok to install twrp, then CM again.. fail..
Just got a notification that my sim card is invalid. Exact time coincided with my verbally denying home internet access to said hacker..
Wow
After reinstall sim card is fine
Something else to remember: There aren't *any* Android
phones out there that are 100% impervious to all the
Stagefright attack vectors. Not even the latest Nexus
devices running the latest Lollipop 5.1 varieties.
My supposedly SF-patched Desire 816 is still vulnerable
to 4 possible SF attack vectors!!
I was worried about possibly having been hacked
via my baseband, but visiting the links you supplied
has probably shed a little light on how I was 1st
hacked.
You've really gotta love Android to put up with all
the security holes!
Hi! I've just got this tablet and wanted to install a newer OS. I'm currently on stock 4.2.1 and been reading on this forum for a couple of hours now.
I know I have to start by installing v8 Unlock App but I keep getting "unknown error, may be network connection issue", which I see it's a very common error.
So far I've tried:
Remove Google Account
Factory reset and not setting up a google account (after which I can't navigate to any site because I get SSL error until I update App Store and Chrome, and that requires putting in my google account)
Fastboot and flashing stock firm (WW one, downloaded from Asus)
Register my tablet under My Products
Sent an email to Asus Support (Waiting on a response)
Manually setting Date and Time
Is there anything else I can try? I've read I could do a downgrade to 4.1 and try to unlock with v7. Is this recommended? Could someone point me to a tutorial for doing this?
Thanks!

Hi
I have a s20 ultra, the original OS\firmware was for Brazil.
I flashed a new original ILO CSC firmware from sam-mobile, used patched odin and changed csc to ILO with SamFw_FRP_Tool
After flashing I added and logged in to my google account and samsung account on the phone.
Now the Play Store is missing.
It does not show in the APPS (at settings) or as an available google service for the device.
what can I do?
Flash another firmware? do something else?

Tried that already.
Is says installed when finished and there you can choose OPEN.
But nothing opens and it's like nothing changed.
PS: The option "reset" in settings is also missing.
Took the phone to a local service lab and they worked on it for 2 days already but could not fix the problem. still they are optimistic.
They say that probably something went wrong with the flashing process, but i suspect that it might be something to do with EDM policy, software is installed on the phone but can not be accessed.
I hope the service lab will fix it.

Tried to wipe cache partition.
What I did notice, is that in my phone's recovery mode, there is no "wipe data\factory reset" line.
I wish I did a nandroid backup before the update, but i said to myself that this is a new phone and i have no data on it, so there's nothing to lose.
I suspect that only if someone could contribute such a backup of his own original nand, it might fix the problem.
But i am not sure if it is indeed possible to go back to an older boot loader this way.

An older firmware will probably have a lower binary version and Samsung has things in place to prevent flashing a lower binary. Downgrade isn't possible unless the downgraded firmware has a binary that is equal to the binary of the currently installed firmware.
You dont need playstore, get aurorastore instead, or fdroid.

S20 Ultra with official firmware should have play store.
If it is missing then it was probably a problem with the flash, or wrong firmware or security, no reason to use a play store alternative, all reason for fixing the base problem.
I am trying to figure out what went wrong and how to fix it.

Updating...
I found out what was wrong with my phone.
I was sold a phone which is a demonstration managed by knox phone.
Knot would not let the phone have Play Store or the ability to reset it.
This is something that can not be changed unless you root the phone and kill knox.
Knox at first start sends the IEMI of the phone to the server, and since the IEMI is on a list , knot controls it. no way to remove the IMEI from the list since it's in samsung's servers not on the personal device.
I returned the phone to the seller today and received a refund.
