Z5 CPU revision. - Xperia Z5 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Does anyone knows which revision of a S810 processor using Xperia Z5/C/P ?

I think I read somewhere that it was V2.1 but don't hold me to it lol

MSM8994, not sure that helps

So, Qualcomm answered to me by Twitter yesterday about CPU verison, our correspondence is in attachment.
So now we can be 100% sure that Z5 series using 2.1 version.

It's just software which makes the s810 v2.1 ...hardware is the same like when it came out...it's just that the software/drivers of s810 are updated so it I'd now called v2.1

I'm pretty sure it uses software / firmware update 2.1 (theoretically, any / all S810 processors could be updated to this version to reduce heat damage (assuming they haven't already burnt themselves up) if the hardware manufactures (of the devices in which they are used) roll out updates to their devices with an included 2.1 update for the chip. Really, there's no reason not to (other than laziness or extreme cheapness) I assume you ask because you are concerned about the overheating issue plaguing the s810. The real solution to which is a better heatsink (thankfully employed in the xperia z5 and xperia z5 premium) unfortunately, the z5 compact is a bit too small for the larger heatsink used in the two larger devices and so still heats up more than the z5 / z5 premium, but still not badly enough to affect overall performance (still I'm getting the standard size to avoid heat issues, even though I would prefer a more pocketable / thumb-able device).

V2.1 is what's in the Flex 2, M9, Z3+ and every other SD810 retail release phones!

Also placement matters and Sony said they got the placement wrong I the z3+ and the camera module used since the z2 ran at high temp too so that did not help

[Q] What about Xperia M2 Aqua (D2403)?

Well im planning to buy Xperia M2 Aqua, but it prings up some concerns about development for this phone. On paper it has very simmilar specs to Xperia M2:
Both have 1GB RAM
Both have 4.8 inch 540x960 screens
Both have 8MP camera
With only diffrence being in proccesors (witch from what i know makes pretty much all the diffrence)
1.2 GHz Qualcomm MSM8926 Quad Core (only for Xperia M2 D2303,D2306)
vs
1.2 GHz Qualcomm MSM8926-2 Quad Core (for Xperia M2 Aqua)
I dont really know whats the diffrence between both proccesors, doubt we can talk about compatiblity. But its not a big diffrence right?
So would there be any development for Xperia M2 Aqua, since i doubt its going to get a seprete forum (would be great though)?
- The screen is now marketed as IPS but it still has the greenish tint at lower light settings, so no improvement.
- The resolution is the same QGA and that's fine for a 4.8 screen in my books.
- The water-resistant covers eventually drop off after some months of use, at least this is what happened on my V. Anyway don't rely on that and emerge into water. When new it's ok but after weeks ... you wouldn't be the first.
- The powers saving are attributed mostly to KK, you can have that also on the non aqua model.
- As for the processor I can't say anything, except that on my 2303 the core 2 and 3 are pretty rarely used. A custom kernel would be really needed here.
- The glass is still the same, declared scratch resistant but not Corning, and smudging in the same manner.
- 1 gB RAM to my opinion in practice is not really enough anymore, but that does not concern Sony only.
- Sony is not exchanging our devices for the after 5 months after launch updated M2. Also consider a Asus Zenfone, Xiaomi, or a Lenovo in this class. They cost either less or offer much more for the same cash.
Well Xiaomi is pretty much non existant in my country, same for Lenovo phones. I was considering Asus Zenfone 5 for a while, but the M2 Aqua has like 70€ price cut, so its a good deal for only 199€. The major problem is that i'd like to get Cyanogenmod on it one day, but though thats happing.

you like buy a Chinese made smartphone than buy a support software
welll, they're a much better than M2 but they won't give a software support on it

Is worth getting a Z3 at this point in time?

With the Z4 close at hand.
I've been put off a bit from the Z series by Sony's 6 month replacement schedule and how long they support their devices.

however u can find some devices that die at release but OEMs have to support their device at least for 18months
and it s true for Flagships like Z, Z1, Z2, Z3 & so on...
:good:
Wait for the Z4 or new HTC M9. The CPU generation is completely different vs Z1/Z2/Z3 which have a similar CPU. Also with the Z4 it is said Sony will switch to 1 year release cycles so the Z4 should get much better support.

But you do hear about heating issues concerning the Snapdragon 810, which seems to the be the hardware of choice for a number of forthcoming devices.
They are making "officially" changes for Samsung, after they threatened to switch to the new 64bit Exynos for the entire production run of the S6. Also it's not known how bad it is (heat increase), it could be minor increase from the 805, as Sony, HTC, LG are not complaining and LG and HTC both stated its not an issue.

That's just a hoax by Samsung. Shame on them. LG has confirmed that Snap810 doesn't have any heating issues. Samsung came up with that so they can use exynos on the upcoming S6. Truly shame on them
Well it's partly true, though Samsung obviously blew it out of proportion. What LG said was they worked "around" it (heat issue) meaning it was not bad, probably a minor increase from previous generation.

Getting a new phone, but which?

Currently using a Galaxy S4 and want to change with a nice phone (duh). There is one question I'm asking - is it a good idea to get a phone with Snapdragon 801/805 instead of 810? If so, which would you recommend - Xperia Z3 or Moto X 2014? I'm worried that if I get them, in a year or two, some apps will only support 64 bit chips.

It's going to be a long time before anything but perhaps the most intense games require 64 bit over 32 bit.
Of those 2, the Xperia Z3 is definitely the better phone than the Moto X. The Moto X has its qualities, but the Z3 has the dual speakers, waterpfoofness, expandable storage, and like twice the battery life.

Do you think I should go and get the Z3 or wait for the Z4 (which we barely have news on)?

Personally I would go ahead with the Z3. Sony's Xperia Z line is rather iterative; the changes between successive models are pretty gradual. It is thought that the only major upgrade will be to the GPU from Adreno 330 to 430, according to leaked benchmarks. It is doubted that there will be any bump in screen technology, size or resolution.
Ultimately, your call.
I have HTC One M7 now planning to change and get other brand phone my previous all phone are Htc any body suggest what can i get or better 4 me.

Now looking at the X, I'm actually tempted to go and buy the N6, both the N6 and Z3 have got similar pricing where I live, but it'll be another week or two for me to decide on which phone to get.
Anyway, thanks for your guys' opinions.

[Q] Before switching from Samsung to Sony

Can I use all the roms and stash for z3 on the z3+?
Can I install xposed framework on z3 plus with Lollipop?
No for the first question as the chipset is different.
Yes for second question.
It's a great phone, the speakers and battery life are among the best, just don't get the T-Mobile USA version, get the international version as it has better build quality consistency.
I would strongly recommend the original Z3 over the Z3+
Snapdragon 810 is a battery hog. The 801 is far more power efficient and in almost all real-world situations runs faster than the 810 because it is much harder to driver it into thermal throttling.

I think so too. My Xperia Z2 got broken. I decided to go for original Z3. I even wanted another Z2. But definitely not a Z3+
I will avoid S810.

[Q] LG G Flex 2 questions

I have a few questions as i am considering getting it:
!) Does this phone now come with the revised Snapdragon 810
2) How is the performance and heat after the adroid 5.1.1 update?
3) How much faster is it compared to the Z3 Compact?
4) I can get both this and the Z3 Compact for the same price (£26 a month), which one should i go for and which would be better for the next 2 years
Thanks
