I'm just curious to know if anyone has found an external battery case that allows access to the SPen? All the ones I've seen have the SPen covered up.
Please understand too that I am NOT asking about a back plate or case for an extended battery. I'm talking about a case that has a built in battery like in the following link, except that it has access to the SPen.

Anker 6440 product page on Amazon clearly shows an accessible S Pen slot.
Can't post a link here, but search Amazon for "[NFC/Google Wallet Capable] Anker® 6440mAh Extended Battery for Samsung Galaxy Note 4"
I have one on order.

Thanks, but as I specifically said, I am NOT asking about an EXTENDED battery back or case. I'm asking about a battery case like in my link. An EXTERNAL battery case. They're cases with a built in battery. You plug your phone + stock battery into the case. It's like an external battery charger, except it's a case that fits on the phone.

I was looking te same thing while ago. Now I have 2 spare anker batteries Few seconds swap. No problem with s-pen. Very good protection with my Spigen case. And its lighter and not that bulky. This external battery is good for Note 5. But imho spare batteries are better solution for note 4.
This is what you're looking for?

No, that's an extended battery with a case. I'm looking for an "external battery case." It's like a portable charger, except that you clip your phone into it. You never have to swap out the OEM battery.
Please look at the link in my original post. It's what I'm looking for, except none of the ones I'm finding have a way to remove the SPen.
The reason why I'm not wanting an extended battery is because I don't want a fat, heavy phone. I want my phone to stay thin and light, but when my battery gets low, I would like to temporarily plug it into the battery case. But, I need access to the SPen since I require it for work.

That style is mainly used for iPhone users, though I did see them for my Note 2. They still increased the size and weight of your phone.
Portable usb battery packs are more convenient. You could get a separate aftermarket SPen.

I am currently using an external battery. It works, but it's annoying to have it connected via cable. I'm getting into the habit of charging while on my lunch break and may invest in a charger that supports fast charge.

I like the external battery cases as well. Used Senegal with my nexus 5. Haven't found 1 for the note 4 yet.

I want to pick up a battery extender. I've seen a few in amizon and what not. But am unsure of the quality of them. Do you guys have any recommendations? One that keeps its nice sleek profile if possible.
Thanks

Any extender is going to remove the sleek profile .
Powerskin is an interesting option:

I'm confused - battery extender as an external battery connection (like a power pack), or battery extender as in an extended battery plus replacement back like the CameronSino ones?

Battery extender as in a skin with a built-in battery. It doesn't replace the stock battery, but acts as a second one.
Powerskin Review...
Design- Sort of bulky. Nice feel to it, and has a quality rubber, but it collects fuzz and lint from pockets, so it's annoying in that respect.
Size-It's fat as hell, surprisingly. Doubles the phone in thickness.Adds a nice amount of weight to it, but it feels good on the phones' already-light frame.
Performance- The phone recharged faster than I expected, adding 30% battery without loss of even 1/4 battery. Signal and GPS didn't seem to change at all with the case on. I'd definitely be afraid to drop the phone in this case because the front is (practically) fully exposed, but it's better than nothing.
***after three weeks, it would charge 30% maximum. The battery degraded very fast.
Overall, it's a bulky but solid case which has performed exceptionally.
**degradation of the battery was all too common, even between two different products. Therefore, I'm rescinding my positive review.

I just received the first one you show... I'm letting it run all the way down, then I will fully charge and test it... Also the one I got is the 3200 mah... So far what I think is it makes the phone heavier but not unpleasantly heavier... Actually feels more expensive besides the very slippery feel... Needs more texture...

yours with power (switch on & off) ?
Since I'm undervolted & pretty tweaked on battery life, I wonder if there's such a thing as a lightweight, low capacity battery? For the large majority of days, I could easily get by with half the capacity. Nice to shed some weight if such a thing exists. Anybody hear of such a thing?
Sent from my SGH-M919 using xda app-developers app
No.
There is no such market for such a thing.
Thanks. I figured that would be the case, but one can hope.
Just take the battery out and use a car or wall charger, lol
ZeroLemon had a battery awhile back that had fewer mAh than stock. Check amazon.
Otherwise, just get a Chinese ebay battery that claims stock mAh. For sure it will be lighter than stock and have way less mAh.

Thanks for the pointers, fellas. (Jayracer7474, haha!) I suspect a lighter battery could also be the difference in mass/momentum between a cracked screen and a bounce from a drop. I did find some 2100 mAh replacements, but they appear to only shave off a couple of grams, so not enough weight savings to justify. A ~1200 mAh battery that would save about .5 to .75 of an ounce would be ideal for 90% of my everyday usage, since I'm usually never far from a charging source. Oh well, can't have everything.
Seems like no one asked the right question so far: what kernel/settings do you have?

Also, those chinese batteries? Please stay away. Most of them are rubbish. (risk of explosion etc etc?)
Those legit chinese brands don't make smaller capacity batteries though.
As pcorlatan pointed out to me, you can use a GS3 battery on the GS4 without any issues.
I have no idea how much lighter it is but it is 2100ma so it is significantly smaller.

The charger case by Mophie may be a little expensive but it extended my battery life by about 80%. The case bulks up the phone a little bit but I find it easier to hold so its a fair trade. There is another battery case out there but though its cheaper and claims more battery capacity it has bad reviews.
Bottom line: I'm in love and I hope I help others extend their battery life with this quality product.
Share your experience and if this review helped you remember to hit that thank button.
Cheers!

Update: there are two cons I can think of: NFC and the HDMI hookup I have don't work. Thought this to be noteworthy. I have yet to try to see if ADB/ file transfer works.
battery cases for a phone with a removable battery are pretty silly.

I do see your side of the argument granted. Overall I think it's easier to just plug the phone in at night. No extra battery to swap out just when you're low on juice flip a switch and you're back in business.
I guess it boils down to personal preference.

$99 is crazy number.
Best deal, IMO.

I had the opportunity to try out this case upon release in exchange for an honest review. I have not been instructed on whether it has to be a positive or negative review, so this is completely unbiased.
First of all, this is not my first product by ZeroLemon. I had a case from them on an old Galaxy S3 years ago (back when you could take off the back of the phone and slide the extended battery into the back). I loved that case, and I loved the idea of ZeroLemon extending my battery so that I could go 2 days on one charge and not worry about charging during long days away from a charger. So I was very excited to try out this new one for my Note9.
Initial impressions: it does, as you would expect, essentially double your battery life (which is already superb on this Note9). Surprisingly, it never seems to QUITE refill your battery completely, which is odd since the capacity of the case is 20% larger than the capacity of the phone battery. I do like that I can easily go 2 days on one charge, like I could back in the day with my S3. I do like that it has a battery indicator light on the case so you know if it is charged. If battery life is one of your most important features, than this is absolutely a no brainer. It's not a huge case (for an extended battery, that is) compared to some larger ones.
The negatives: the case is sort of bland in terms of design. I like that they offer a blue one to somewhat match the Ocean Blue color of the Note9. Additionally, you lost some functionality that may be important to some: wireless charging, NFC (mobile payments), water resistance (IP68 rating), and the ability to transfer files (only can charge through the case). Now for some people, depending on your usage, this is not a huge deal. For others, it would be detrimental to their phone usage. So it really is up to you! Do you want insane battery life? Or do you need those other features?
Other notes: the case is easy to get on and get off. I have no concerns about damaging the USB C port with this as some have said. The case is slippery, which could be good or bad depending on your preferences.
All-in-all, I think it's a 4-star case. Great for some! Not great for others.
why dont these phone case battery companies just use wireless charging on the cases? A button to turn off/on the charging when necessary.
Hate to be the bearer of bad news but they upgraded the note 9 5k mah battery case

Now features pass through and data sync. No need to remove phone out of case.

Yeah, they emailed me and offered me 70% off it I'll review the new one, haha. I guess I should do it!
Mine arrived today...the updated version. I had originally purchased another brand on Amazon that didn't support data sync and it was a dealbreaker so I returned it right as ZL released their new version.
Case texture and fit are very good. I had 2 goals with this case....Android Auto compatibility with my Alpine head unit and DeX compatibility with the Samsung dock.
Looks like this case gets me 1 for 1. The case allows Android Auto mode to activate so I can use Waze and Spotify, etc when driving. This was most important.
DeX was a no-go unfortunately. This was less important as I have a Tab S4 with LTE I can take with me. Still disappointed it doesn't work...but nothing in the advertising ever claimed it would. Just FYI for anyone interested.
Small review....I like the case better than I thought I would. It's a keeper.
I like the looks of the case and with the fixes, I think it is a good buy!
On the website I just read about not fitting with full screen protectors. What kind of screen protection did you go with?

Not sure if you're asking me or OP, but I don't use screen protectors. Maybe someone else will chime in if they are using one.
