Has anyone experience flickering/glitching after updated to 23.4.A.1.232? - Xperia Z3 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

At first I thought glitches I saw caused by the app (inbox) itself. Then I keep seeing it happens on other apps as well.
It is like some elements (ie, action bar) of apps flashing or the whole screen flickers. It usually happens only a second or two at most; too quick to make a screenshot of it.
Though, this problem is not happen regularly, it is frequent enough to get noticed.
Here are some apps that I remembered glitches happened, it happens in other apps too but usually very quick and random.
In FX File Explorer, sometimes glitches occur during transition animation between folders.
When adding a new Google account in Settings, the big top blue part of the screen flickers.
In Inbox app, sometimes tips bar just keep flashing for almost 2 seconds when I closed it.
And, in A Better Camera app, this can happen sometime:

I'm considering reverting back to 23.4.A.0.546.
Even though the old firmware has stagefright bugs, it's very unlikely that someone would use it on me, and I don't use MMS anyway.

for me both cameras are better in .232
and yeah I have these screen problem
and did you notice that the speakers are noticeably lower in music ?? now they are like Z3+ !!!!

I had some screen tearing when I first installed .232, but none since then.
Speakers seem just as loud as before.

I do have the same problem.
Made myself a prerooted fw using PRF, downgraded, rooted and upgraded using the prerooted firmware i made.
Also made a factory reset. Now i'm getting screen tearing while scrolling, video glitches and stutterings.

I saw that at first but not anymore (maybe I haven't noticed them).
Strange thing is that 232 version should be Stagefright free, however, I've runned a test and I'm still vulnerable to one of the flaws.

Treo 750 display driver problem?

I have a treo 750. Its used and I don't know what the guy before me tried to do with it, but it looks like all he did was install the official WM5 to WM6 update. My problem now (and part of the reason he sold it) is that there seems to be some serious screen corruption. I'm inclined to think there may be a driver issue? I cant even see the bootscreen. All I can see are a couple of vertical and horizontal bars (mostly around the top) with a multicolor spectrum. The rest of the screen is blank. Hard-reset, soft-reset, neither works to fix it. Oddly, if I access the device through MyMobiler and regedit/change to font to something that it hasn't used before (ex. calibri, arial) it seems to bring it back to life... still no boot screen, but the os will work fine. If I put it in standby mode and then try and bring it back on, I'm back to the corrupt screen. At the moment I've turned off the power-idle feature and just let it go to backlight off while leaving the device on all the time, but I cant leave it like that forever. Any thoughts? Am I able to update the display driver or something?
PS. Display works on my PC through MyMobiler with no problem.
Thanks in advance.
having exact same problem
I am having the exact same problem. The only way to avoid the display corruption seems, like you said, to avoid putting the phone in standby mode... but then leaving it like that all day will drain the battery very fast, obviously.
I'm curious as to what the cause is. My phone is out of warranty already. Purchased summer 2007.
rjackets, have you done anything since your post?
Hey i Still have the same problem, did anyone find an answer yet?
Is this what you're seeing? http://commons.wikimedia.org/wiki/File:Bootloader.jpg
no, it's like all the 1st vertical pixels get extended to the right end and the lines keep flashing, i kind find my battery atm but it looks something like this texture, just with pixels:

Lost full screen - black bar at bottom of screen

Afternoon all.
As per title. After installing Renovate 3.0 today, I noticed that I've "lost" about 5mm at the bottom - just a thin black bar under the display.
Thought the ROM was the culprit, but I've reflashed 5 or 6 Rims and it's the same.
I've tried all display resolutions, immersive mode, different themes, clean installs, soft reboots, too many restarts, toggled everything I can think of- the same. All screens, all apps.
Driving me absoeffinglutely nuts. Any help appreciated!
Have you tried flashing back to the factory firmware?
Take a screenshot, does the black bar appear in the screenshot? If not, the display panel is broken, if yes, it's a software glitch

No, doesn't show in screenie, didn't expect it to. Find it hard to believe it's physical damage - never dropped it, Otterbox Strada wallet, but somehow the display is FUBAR.
Seen one similar problem after googling, on the S8, no obvious cause or solution.
Going to wipe everything including system and all storage, flash a stock in Odin and cross my fingers.

Very odd, if it appeared right after you installed the ROM, a software problem is possible. But I still wonder how it's possible for a part of the screen to render on a screenshot, but not on the actual screen.

What is Network operator Theme pack?

As the title says, what is Network operator Theme pack? Ive already googled it and there is nothing close to it.
I was looking through my phones app list with system apps showing and I saw an app with that name, Network operator Theme pack and I dont recall seeing it before. It goes without saying, but I didnt install that app. The package name is "com.android.networksettings.overlay.ct".
There is also an app called Permission controller Them pack and its package name is "com.google.android.overlay.modules.permissioncontroller".
While they may mean nothing at all and be completely harmless, the "overlay" part raised a little red flag for me. Ive also been having severe battery drainage issues, but I dont know if that is related or not. Severe as in losing 1% of the charge every 3-8 minutes when using the phone and about 4%-5% every 45-60 minutes when the screen is off.
I looked at the list of processes running in 3C All in One Toolbox (paid version) and the only thing that was a problem was the mediaextractor kernel process which I killed each time it was a problem as it was eating up in excess of %150+ of the phones cpu. I was also rooted up until a few weeks ago when I updated magisk (through magisk manager) & edxposed, then after the phone restarted I was no longer rooted and unable to re-root without wiping all my data (which, needless to say I did not do as I am not in the mood to start over from scratch right now.
So yeah, if anyone could tell me what the strange app package is and maybe help me figure out my battery drainage problem, Id greatly appreciate it.
My phone is a OnePlus 7 Pro running android 10.
Stay healthy everyone!
P.s. I attached a screenshot of the app info window from both of the strange apps mentioned above.

Graphics Corruption Fault

My two month old POCO X3 NFC 128GB appears to be randomly exhibiting a graphics fault. Occasionally upon screen wake up, this sort of graphics corruption occurs (see first image below)
The first two times this happened, the corruption was blue, the one in the image is red, it looks like a low resolution, low colour mode, and the only way to get the screen to go back to normal is to reboot. I have not managed to intentionally cause the error to appear.
Screenshotting while the error is occurring shows a normal screen without the issue.
Has anyone seen anything like this or have any idea what is causing it? This is my first Xiaomi phone after reluctantly switching to them from three previous Huawei mobiles. Very disappointing and annoying to have an intermittent error two months into owning this phone.

I have indian variant, have exactly this issue.
After updating to 12.0.9 once a while display acts like this.
You don't need to reboot simply go in settings/ display/colorscheme and click standard Display will be back to normal, it's a software glitch which came with new update

Thank you for your message, this very interesting to hear as I have not seen anyone else talking about this and I was beginning to wonder if it was a hardware issue as the fault looks very much like graphics chip corruption. The next time this happens I will try your fix without rebooting to see if it helps, thanks again.

Android 11 wallpaper bug/'feature'

I was holding off on updating, after getting the Android 11 notification a few days ago in the UK, as I couldn't see much user feedback on One Hyper upgraded to Android 11. But I updated it today and while it seems to be working OK (with seemingly no loss in general performance), I did immediately notice a bug/feature on wallpapers.
It doesn't matter which app you use to apply a wallpaper, the system seems to take over and crop the image. When you pull down the notifications bar it zooms back out to the original 1:1 wallpaper.

Forgive the quality of the above gif, I didn't want to overload the thread with a massive image. But you get the idea.
I did a Google search and it seems to be a common issue, at least on some Android 11 devices, I saw some archived reddit threads from 2020. It's a shame but thankfully there is a workaround (if a little clunky). Apparently live wallpapers escape this weird bug/feature, so with an app like KLWP you can turn a wallpaper (like some of the 1080x2340 formatted wallpapers I made) into a live wallpaper. Again it works but for such a simple thing, it's a shame you have to jump through hoops that weren't there in Android 10.
Eh, why do they need to do these things. I'm already really annoyed that the lockscreen overlays a color tone over the image, dampening all cool vibrant colors and contrast. When i now choose a lockscreen wallpaper i have to overdrive the colors and contrast before applying it to counter the tone.
is this a bug? I thought it was some new effect of the system, if you repair it well, when you are using the Motorola launcher and make the gesture to open the app drawer, the same thing happens.
Whether it's simply an annoying new feature or a bug, either way it would be nice if it was an option.
Again I'm able to use the KLWP app to get around it, but its a lot of extra hoops for such a simple feature (and not a particularly intuitive app to use).
