Hi, I've just noticed that YouTube has a folder named exo, in the cache folder (android/data/com.google.android.youtube/cache), with a lot of .exo files. Its size is 60MB, that's quite a lot. Can I delete all those exo files?
Thanks!
OK, yes I can. It's totally safe to delete that entire cache folder. :fingers-crossed:

Yes. You can delete any app's cache without worrying about it but keep in mind that some files are not caches so I recommend using a simple cache cleaner like this one. DO NOT use Clean Master and similar apps. They drain more battery and use a lot of CPU.

Hi,
I am trying to build my own custom ROM(JellyBean) and observed that any apk that is placed in the /system/app(adb push somefile.apk /system/app) folder gets a corresponding .dex file in the /cache/dalvik-cache. But when I install this apk using "adb install some.apk", an entry in the /data/app folder gets added with the corresponding package name.
1) If an apk is pushed in the /system/app folder is it being cached for some performance benefit? Will there also be some part of this apk residing in the RAM after it is pushed?
2) Will this .dex file in the dalvik-cache folder ever get deleted?
3) Does installing an app(and not running it) still cause some memory to be occupied in the RAM/Cache? I have observed that installing around 120 apps on my device causes it to be less responsive.
I have tried to find a thread with these questions but not much luck. Any insights would be appreciated.
Thanks!!
.dex still exists after a cache wipe
I did a dalvik cache wipe and after a reboot this .dex is recreated. Looks like this .dex will never be deleted.
Hi everyone, I'm trying to clean up my phone to make it faster and free up some memory. But while I was looking for files and folders that can be thrown away, I wasn't sure about few of them & couldn't determine whether I can get rid of them or not! Here are the folders and files I'm asking about (they're all located in the internal memory):
1- (.droidga)
contains some unknown files like (gad_ds), (gad_gt), (gad_install), and some other files with the extension of (.p)
2- (iten)
contains only one file (iten_v2.db)
The following ones are located inside (Android/data) folder:
3- (com.chartboost.sdk)
contains a file (chartboost.cb)
4- (ly.font)
contains a cache folder with many different files
can anyone please explain what these folders are & if it's safe to remove them or not!
Thanks a lot!

These files and folders are generated by the apps that you have installed. If you want to delete unnecessary folders then use Android Assistant(18 Features) from Play Store and do cleanup. This will also give you a slight performance gain.. But if you delete these folders then again it will be regenerated by the corresponding app.
One more advice if you are rooted and find reduction in performance then Wipe cache from cwm from time to time this will also help you.
Hope you got your answer.
Thanks

Well I'm actually using another app called "Clean Master" & it does the job very well, but still these folders & files exist.
I know they're are not a big deal even in terms of the space they occupy, but the thing is I had tons of apps installed on my phone previously then I decided to do the factory reset few days ago. It feels much lighter and faster now, but even after the reset some folders created by apps I had before were not completely removed. I removed everything I know, but also wanted to go further and remove any other unnecessary files. I just wasn't sure whether the files I mentioned are system files or not.
& no my phone is not rooted.
Thanks a lot for the tips! :good:

You need to uninstall the app, delete the app's folder from /data/data, delete any traces of the app from your external sdcard, and then reboot. The app will be totally gone.
After that, re-install and enjoy!

The folder name should match up with the package name. To find that, go to /data/app and locate the game's .apk file in that directory. Write down or memorize the exact name of the .apk file. Then, go back to /data/data, and look for the folder with the same name as what you wrote down. When you find that, make sure it is gone after you uninstall the app.
Then, you need to clear your SD card of all data traces from the game. This can be found with a little exploration.
What app is this and how can i clean recent files?
i tried almost every tricks..
Okay, so they are in Android folder..
EDIT.. no succesful now.. so please help.
It seems that you are in file manager or so.
What do you want to delete?
If you want to see different details, open the menu at left, touching the horizontal bars.
If you want to use a better file manager, instead install Root Explorer or similar from the P store.

i was in snapseed. i deleted all my internal storage, still those files exist. Then installed google file manager called files and that can delete those cached ghost files..
So. now success!
Did you delete your sd? It seems to me a bit heavy decision...
