I am just wondering if people are experiencing better battery life after rooting?
I am really stressing over the battery. Today, with just some phone calls and using the browser maybe once, total 9 hours, I have 66% battery. Is that bad or am I just overreacting. So little usage but down to 66% seems bad to me. I am coming from a blackberry, it easily made it through the day, even though it was really old. Am I just expecting too much from smart phone like this (with the touch screen and all the apps and features)?
I have the brightness way down, syncing turned off for most apps and on others syncs less often. Etc...
thats actually pretty dam good after 9 hours...
LMAO mine died from a full charge in 8 hours yesterday.

Well, I guess I just have to get used to it. I just hadn't used it much at all to get to the 66%.

That's IT. usually i have it plugged in at my other job but i was snow plowing. lucky it was a light storm or i would have been out longer and in some serious trouble. I also called AT&T (im an employee as well lol) and i complained about the captivate (i purchased two of them, gps and battery issues) and the battery life on the HTC and they wouldnt even waive the upgrade fee ($18...not to mention my early upgrade fee of $200) and couldnt notate the account saying that they would waive the $35 restocking fee. Thats BS because we do it for customers all day long at my store. Sorry to thread jack. lmao

I believe the browser time listed there is cpu time, which doesn't necessarily correlate to how long you were using the browser. What was your display on time? If I stay connected to wifi most of the time I can get 3-4 hours of display on time (and about 16 hours total), which is pretty good for a phone with a 4.3 inch screen. It's better than the Captivate got running custom ROMs.
Don't be mistaken, this is no iPhone 4, BlackBerry, or dumbphone. You can't realistically expect to get more than a day of battery life with a modern, powerful, Android smartphone with a large display (although I did get almost 40 hours with very light use). I suggest getting a dock that you can rest it in while at work and a car charger as well. It's not a big deal and well worth the functions this phone provides imho.
Im fully rooted and the battery is better after the root. instead of getting 8 hours out of it I now get atleast 10 depending on how often I am using it. I am a moderate to heavy user.
When I was stock before root, I'd normally have 60-70% battery in the evening. I unplug my phone around 7:30am and around 6-7pm is when it's at 60-70%. I play some word games through the day, browse very little, make a call or two, or just randomly go through my phone. I have my brightness set at 30% and I have a toggle to go to 20% if my battery gets low.
Right now I'm rooted with the RevHD .15 rom OCed at 1.228ghz. I seem to get around the same battery life. I haven't gone through a whole day after root without plugging in because I've been flashing though.
I'm amazed at some people saying they use the phone heavily and only use 30-40% of the battery after 12 hours. I hardly use the phone, am on WiFi all day, and after 12 hours I've used 80% of my battery.
1 widget running, 2 email accounts checking every 15 min, Facebook and weather every hour, HTC Sync is set to push. I even set HTC Sync to 1 hour and not much has changed.

That is a BIG reason why. I removed the account and it made a world of difference. Even set to once a day, it still ate the battery.

Battery life
I rooted mine and am running Core Droid and I was coming home from work after 8 hours and have 15% to 30% battery left. After root and custom Rom and screen set to 30% brightness which is still bright I am off the charger for 12.5 hours now with moderate use and have 29% battery left. Thats with htc sense set to push. I removed it and will test this out tomorrow.

Those two email accounts checking every 15 min and Facebook every hour are killing you. If you set those email accounts to forward to a gmail account so emails are pushed to your phone it will save a lot of battery. As for Facebook... do you really need to know what 500 people are doing every hour?
I would just do manual Facebook refresh when I go into the app. There is no need to have that updated all day every day.
What is the battery life on standby with basically all radios and wireless turned off (3g,bluetooth,wifi,etc.) except for 2g for voice calls? Basically, how long can it last as a very basic dumbphone?
If u turn off 3G network and use 2G, u get more battery life.
I have Nexus one with me under ATT 3G, and the battery life only holds for 20 hours, ( hardly making any calls, internet ect. just standby). However, when I was in China for summer, the battery life was about 3days under EDGE network, so I guess 3G network and SYNC can make ur standby hours shorter.
My battery is much better now. I downloaded juice defender and I think it actually helped.

Sorry for my bad english first.
I really wanna get one, but I still doubt about the capacity of the battery. How long it can carry? If you can tell me the way you use it, it would be much better.

I have a DHD now, and in fact I have to recharge it everyday. Considered about this, how would sensation perform?
I have been getting about 12 hours out of it for moderate to heavy use - 5+ hours streaming music etc. Today I haven't used it much at all, 8 hours off the charger and I have 65% battery left.

If it's like that I have to say it's too bad for me to use. May be I have to carry to charge it twice a day....
Heavy use = charge every night (the same goes for nearly all smartphones though, unfortunately)
Light-moderate use = charge every two nights
This is a very rough guess but you'll get at least 20% more battery performance out of a Sensation than a DHD, more so when they sort out custom roms and everything.

Are you sure? My DHD will lose power very quickly when I use WIFI to watch videos or movies. It can cost about 60%-70% power in about 3 hours.
I'd have to test it to be 'sure', sorry. It's certainly better than the DHD though, no question about it.

Sorry for the stupid question, but I still not clear about it. On the official site(I mean HongKong Site), the time DHD can be used is much longer than Sensation did. Have you actually compared them? or you just take a guess?

Sensation has higher capacity battery. PLus, if you use 3G it will consume more - if you talk alot on the phone it will finsih sooner - if you browse on wifi all day it will end sooner - it all depends on you - if you just sens 20-25 texts a day + an hour of wifi - it will easily last you 36-40 hours.
If you call a lot - lets say 5 hours a day - browse at least 5-7 hours on wifi/3G + videos/songs then it will unlikely last you more than 12-15 hours.

Now that Current Widget works on the Sensation It would be interesting to see what everyone else is getting on idle.
Im running standard rom Vodafone UK Branded and it doesnt seam to dip below 200mA on average, the lowest was 89ma for a few secs then shot back up. I have had it running and logging over night.
What is everyone else getting?

Same for me, I was getting <5ma on my HD2 when idle.
I wonder if SetCPU really works with the Sensation, having 250ma when idle would kill the battery way too fast!
I'm not sure if I have the maths/theory totally wrong, but pls correct me if so.... but if we have a reading of 250mah that means we are taking 250 ma per hour. Say our baterry is 1500mah (should provide 1500ma for one hour) does that mean we get 6 hours (1500/250) from a full charge??
Shoot me down if I have the theory wrong.... but 250mah does seem a lot. Presume that we need to trust the reading we are getting from the Battery Monitor Pro widget.

I think your math is correct, but something is surely wrong as I can get 3+ days under very light usage.
something wrong with mine tooo, ex user of hd2 usually around 7-9 mah when hd2 in idle, now use sensation around 200++
I gonna leave it 1rst if my battery drain in 6-7 hours then something wrong with my sensation but if it over 8 hours seem there is flaw in current widget
When the App does logging, your phone will need more power. Not accurate in my opinion. I also got something like 200 mA for idle. But it's not so much more when playing music etc. I assume the display consumes most of the power (Android's battery usage info agrees with me). Try measuring it in standy as follows: Disable your logging apps etc, remember your battery status in %. Leave it in Standby overnight, remember the time when you turn it off. In the morning, check your batetry status and note the time so that you can tell how many % you lost in what time. Then take that percentage from your battery capacity (1580 mah with stock battery). Divide this by the amount of hours and you will find your standby drain. Mine is something like 16 ma.
Example: Your battery when you go to sleep: 80%. You sleep for 8 hours. Your battery reading now: 70%. Thats 10%. 10% of 1580 mah is 158 mah. Divided by 8 is 19.75 ma. That's your standby consumption.
I recommend you do this when your battery is around 50%. My battery stays at 100% for a very long time, don't know why...
Just installed an update to the Battery Monitor Pro Widget that is supposed to address the issue of high current readings ont he Sensation. Will see how it goes.

Makes no difference.
No app to date is accurately measuring the stdby current (screen off) Clearly 200mA is not correct as your phone would only last 8 hours wiith no usage!
I'm getting 6 mA on idle, around average of 200 mA while in use.
I'm using battery monitor widget(free version).
I'm recording the history at 1 hour interval. sometimes idle mA doesn't record because it fall within that time frame.
but when it does, 6mA.

Now here's a strange thing.... was looking at my ma usage graph over night and noticed a couple of times it was on almost 0ma and not the normal 200-250ma. On looking at the history I noticed that this as the only time the temp fell below 25deg C. All other history was 200-250 and the temp was 25 and above.... very strange.... might put it in the fridge for a few minutes tonight!!

The recent update to CurrentWidget mentions it now works on the Sensation, but it's definitly not reading mA's correctly. Still a work in progress, I suppose.

Good day to all the people using the Honor 6 H60-L04,
I currently have a Moto X 2013 and I love almost everything about it. The one thing that really makes me mad about the phone is the battery. I can get 6:30 hours of SoT during normal use, but during Standby / Sleep mode the phone eats a minimum of 2.0% to 3.0% drain per hour. It does not matter if the phone is even in Airplane mode, it drains about the same.
Now, I am looking for a phone that will not need to have everything turned off just to have 1 day of regular use and to have a small drain per hour when the phone is not being used.
Could some users share their average Standby time on their Honor 6? Other than not being splashproof (Why couldn't Huawei follow the steps of the Honor 3?), the Honor 6 is the most attractive option for me right now due to price and performance, just need to know how is the avg drain per hour when screen off is to make a decision.
At night my battery was eat 1%
So in about 8hrs it drops 1%? If you use GSAM Battery Monitor it would say a little more than 0.1%/hour or similar?
Running the latest CM11. I lose maybe 4% every 24 hours in standby. My last battery cycle to 4% was 6 hours screen time, 2 days 14 hours total.
I received the Honor 6 on Friday, very happy with it! Tried this last night, and between 1am and 9 this morning it was only 1%, with wifi on all the time.

Wow,
that is awesome. Too bad I found out that the phone is very weak in the sound department. I saw samples of videos taken in noisy environments (concert) and the sound was awful. Also, some reviews and users report that the sound coming out of the headphone jack is also of very low quality compared to other phones on the same price range.

I'm a medium to heavy user at home, browsing on Chrome, WhatsApp, YouTube. I usually get 6 hours of on screen time on heavy use with WiFi.
But if I am at the office, I will put my phone on 2G GSM just for replying messages and this will make my phone last for 1 day 12 hours at most with probably 3 hours on screen time.
Sound wise, the speakers at the back of the phone is not that great because it is a mono speaker. I am not so much of a music/sound person so that does not bother me as long as the volume is loud enough for me to hear my phone rings.
Earphones/headphones wise, i am happy with the quality of sound and I am only using my cheap CreaTive earphones.
Thanks for the feedback. For the battery, it is odd that it would last so little on 2G considering what was said before that the phone has excellent stand by time battery usage. If I was you, I would check if your phone is going into sleep mode while at the office, it could be something is keeping it awake.
For the sound, I am a heavy music listener and this is a deal breaker. On top of that, the audio during video recording is bad, and you won't notice until that special moment when you want to record a video and then you play it back and the sound is horrible with clipping and distortion (like on my old Galaxy S2).

Yeah like i said, replying messages on office days. So i always check my phone every minute. The culprit is too many incoming WhatsApp Group chats.
I've tried using the protected app feature and kill all background apps. It does make a big difference, i have seen my phone going more than 2 days unplugged with battery life still remaining more than 10%.
So it depends on the user really. Im too lazy to kill apps nowadays, because to me 1full day of battery life with 3G & medium usage is good enough. .
I have bought brand new honor 6, 2 weeks ago..
I have noticed that its draining very fast. 5-6% just 6hours night standby. no Wifi. 0 App is running after screen turned off.
Closed all recent open apps from history.
See two screenshots.
3% drained, for 28 minutes of wifi on (use for just making screenshots)
Ps:I have upgraded on marshmellow
Any solution will appreciated.
Battery is ok,but I dont count every single percent and on latest version of the stock rom screen on time is around 5 hours when you install all your apps and stuff.Phone is good overall, but its not worth upgrading from moto x 2013.Better stick with it and if you care about battery that much, install a custom rom/kernel or get powerbank.

Sounds about right. Maybe a little on the high side but we don't know what happened throughout the entire time.

Then seems like there's not much else really to consider asides from environment conditions. (Ie. Screen brightness, signal strength, etc.)
About 8 9 hours but I'm rooted and I did some optimizations. With heavy game (pugb max details) about 3-3 1/2.
Around 2 to 10 hours.
Sometimes I just listen to podcasts and music, and not using the screen at all. Those days it's usually 2 days between charge.
Sometimes I use the phone more and I could be getting 6hrs on mixed lte/3g/wifi those days is mostly bad weather and is around 30 hours between charge.
Some days I'm in the hospital with nothing to do, alot of time on YouTube, Netflix on wifi, those will be around the 10 hour mark.
