Samsung Milk Music Companion App - Samsung Gear S2

I know I'm not the only one, but Just starting a thread about not being able to install the Samsung Milk Music Companion App because it says it is not available for your device, even though I have a Gear S2 and an S5.

Same here but on a note edge. Figured if enough people gave it 1/2 star reviews they will pull their heads out of their asses and fix it.

I have a note 5 and I get the same error. I am hoping they are finishing it up as opposed to removing it completely. I have read that Samsung may be dropping Milk.

They just fixed it and now it works perfect. Decent interface and runs Smooth.

This device does not support galaxy apps?

all of a sudden I can't get into the gear apps anymore tonight and this error comes up. anyone else see this?

so i did factory resets, i un-rooted etc, and it's still doing it. i'm pairing it to my TAB S now to see if it'll work there...
sucks bc now i can't download apps at all.
wellp, it works on my Tab S and i can get into the store no problem, but it seems like my Note 4 is the issue, which makes ABSOLUTELY no sense because for 2 full days it's been working and i've been downloading apps, and now all of a sudden it decided that the Note 4 isn't compatible. WTF.
same here my friend Just started doing it !! With you describing the same issue I believe this is a Samsung issue and not something we have done.
whats up guys!! just solved the problem!! i was having the same issue. it has something to do with the security updates.
so to fix it go to application manager and find security policy updates under the ALL tab. and unistall updates. this will then let you back into the gear app store :good:
Same issue but no security policy updates app.
I have the same issue. Was working fine this morning and my device isn't supported now. :/ I also don't have a security policy updates app in application manager.
It fixed itself.
It works now.
I'm so mad I wiped my device and unrooted then rooted again lmfao. now I'm on tizenmod 3.0 though and the store works. nice. thanks for the heads up guys!

I have a Note 4 (US version) and am having no problems. Sounds like something changed in your setup. Did something change your build.prop file setting ro.product.model? Sometimes people change that. Running any type of app or xposed module that spoofs other apps?

NOTHING changed in my setup and some days it works, some it doesn't and I get the dreaded message. Samsung really needs to get their sh!t together or else they will soon find the answer to the question "why Apple is MUCH better in terms of user experience".
it's a Samsung server side issue. probably the same reason so many apps weren't available on the note 4 but were on every other device like s5 and note edge lol

S Voice connection issues

I got a Gear 2 yesterday. Using it with a GS6. My only gripe so far is how long it takes to initialize or use S Voice. It was fairly snappy at first, but now it won't initialize. I tried restarting both devices and unpairing/repairing them. No improvement.
Any tips?
40 views of the thread and no help, so I guess S Voice sucks on the watch as bad as it does on the phone.

Wish I had an answer. I had noticed the same thing from time to time. I tried showing it to my girlfriends brother today to talk him out of getting the iWatch. He asked me how to send text messages and I tried sending one as a test. At first it said that it was not able to connect but then it connected but it said that it couldn't hear me. Really annoying!

Thank you for the affirmation. I guess I have to just decide if it's worth keeping if it can't do one of the major reasons I got it. I guess I would like to know if people's experiences with Google Now on Android Wear is any better. I honestly don't get why Samsung keeps pushing S Voice. Even on my Galaxy S6, it's still rubbish.
S voice is crappy but works for the basic things. I've got similar connect issues too. Resets help me, but it's frustrating
I checked out the motor 360 with Google wear and it was slow, and I found the interface clunky.
So I think we have the better device right now. Jumping to another phone will not get u the best... I think they all suck in their own way because all this is new. Imo

So what did you decide, keeping it? I'm hours away of return this as well, getting frustrating. Seems like it works 30% of the time, but it's the only watch with a camera and I like taking quick snaps while I'm out traveling or family parties.

I had that for the longest with MM using my Note 5. I sent the watch into Samsung twice for this issue and they replaced it twice. Once I got the 2nd watch S Voice has worked without issue. There were a couple times where it said it sent texts but never did. It could have been a connection issue but 99% of the time it works flawlessly.

OTA Update

I just got an OTA update. The "details" weren't detailed at all... just "improvements to android." This is just a heads up if you want to check for one. I'm also curious if anyone knows if this brings any improvements?
I don't have a wireless charger (Samsung has it and is supposed to be fixing it) but maybe this will fix the wireless charging problem?

Someone in the other thread said they worked for Verizon and that the last update allows for Samsung pay to work, but since they aren't officially supporting it, the last step is Samsung making a special update to give it the feature, somehow not through Verizon?
Everything is hearsay, anecdotal, and annoying. But that's all we've got I suppose.
The update makes the wireless charging worse for me using the older mini charger, it worked fairly well before the update.
Correct, It unlocks the functionality needed for Samsung Pay, Verizon and Samsung are still negotiating official support. Samsung is not willing to activate Verizon members cards until Verizon makes an agreement.
I hesitantly took this update on my Note5, and so far regret it. Everything was running absolutely fine until the update, then things got weird. I get ANRs, which isn't a terrible thing when seldom, but then the lock screen crashed over and over, and wouldn't let me do anything. Also, during the crash, it showed my home screen wallpaper and contents, which I'm pretty sure is a security concern. Anyways, I had to do a hard reset, and it cleared that issue up, but now boot time is significantly longer and the finger print reader is giving me problems. Not once did I have a problem with the finger print reader before the update. I'll look into this and see if anything in my control is causing this instability.

Get Zimperium stagefright detector from the play store and it will show the device is still vulnerable.
Now I'm not having issues like other users but Antutu scores dropped and things like crossy road are unplayable.
If this is how things are to come I'm done. This device was nearly perfect and now not so sure. I'm still in my 14 day period to return this device, may just do that.
More than likely it's due to the new kernel. With a locked bootloader this is impossible for the user to fix.

Weird, I had no issues. Hopefully it was a fluke and it clears up fo ryou.
Also, it seems to be confirmed that the OTA update does allow for Samsung Pay to work. Now we have to wait for the app to be released to the play store.
This is the Tweet from Will Graylin saying, "soon to be down loadable on Google Play for Verizon customers. Hoping in the next week or so."

Tips and Tricks found *UPDATED 11/28*

Hey all, Just got my LTE variant and have been fiddling around with it and have discovered some things. Wanted to post here and let people know what I've come across.
So far I have discovered:
-Gear works with Rooted Devices (at least with my Note 4)
-Samsung Pay from Gear works with Rooted Devices (Can't add my Discover Card yet, planned support for hopefully end of year)
-You DON'T have to use the default texting app in order to send/receive/reply to messages from the S3. So far, the apps I've found that support this are Google Hangouts, ChompSMS, Textra, and Google Messenger. It does have a few hangups though. This thread states the methods I used to achieve this and the hangups observed by doing this.
-You can control phone music from the s3, but cannot stream to it...yet.
-Gear seems to auto lock when removed from wrist. Unable to tell if it's based on the lack of heart beat or sense of movement. Not an issue, just making aware.
-Gear supports AOD (Always On Display). The type of display given is based on the watch face currently in use, so it would appear your watch face must have support for it otherwise it will default to a stock face (needs testing). Using AOD will shift pixels around to prevent burn in every time you go to wake the watch. Have lightly tested and can verify it shifts. Will be testing on my next charge cycle to test battery life and burn in potential (trying to test as much as I can within my 14 day period of which to exchange for another device (lemon law)
So far that's all I've come across and will update this page accordingly with more information. Please feel free to add yourself anything you have discovered so we can let the rest of our Gear toting brothers and sisters know these tips and tricks.

The Samsung Pay you use is a baked in app that is part of the Samsung Gear app. I have in installed on my rooted Nougat port on my HTC 10 and it works perfect. You don't need the official Samsung Pay app installed on the device at all. It seems as of now, that Samsung thinks the security on the watch is enough to allow you to use it side by side with a rooted phone. I hope it stays that way, because I have never been able to use Android pay because of the Root issue.

Yes I did. However have been very busy since getting it and have not had time to update the thread. I've tested a few additional features and even a skin from Skinomi to protect the watch. When I have time tonight I will try to update what I can.
What I can say now, the watch feels a little lackluster, but since it's my first wearable, and it works for what I bought it for (messaging/calling, Samsung pay) it works great. But there are time I worry I'm not using it to its potential or it's just in its baby phases and doesn't have many apps yet.

I just picked mine up a few days ago a and that sums up my feelings also. It's my first smartwatch and I've been wondering if I'm using it's full potential. I haven't been thrilled with the battery life but I have been playing around with it a lot and have only charged it a couple of times. Hopefully that will improve when I finally decide on a watch face that I can live with, I think I've changed the face a couple of hundred times.
Samsung Pay is available on S3, the only difference is that if you bought the BT version, it'll requires that you have the phone nearby for the 4GLTE to make the payment or such. If you have the LTE model and uses that, then you should be fine.

Correction, BT version can do 10 transactions without the phone nearby for Samsung Pay. After that, you need to sync with the phone to get another 10.

Before I buy, will OP6 work with Samsung gear S3 100%?

I have a S7 that will be replaced soon and I rather have a OP6 than a S9, but it has to work with my Gear S3 and use all it's functions like Samsung pay, phonecalls, Samsung health. Also that the Bluetooth can handle 2 Connie tons at the same time like bt audio in my car/Sony bt headphones.
all exept samsung pay will work. having op6 or s9 to decide, i wouldn't even consider s9..
Haven't tested samsung pay but everything else is working fine on mine.
I get my op6 Tuesday, and one of the first things I'll do is set up my gear s3. I'm really hoping Samsung pay will work. According to some initial research, it's seems possible. Lots of mixed results. I'll definitely come back with some results next next week.
I have a Bluetooth Gear S3 classic and an OnePlus 6. Everything works (Samsung pay included) though I had to use apkmirror to download the Samsung Pay (gear plug-in) app.

Yeah looked like from what I read you have to have the "plug-in" app, but I thought you could get it from the playstore. Did it not show up in the playstore?
Edit: now that I think about it, it's all done through the Samsung gear app. However others have had the same issue where the plug-in fails to install. In which case the solution is as Dennis says above.
yeah I don't think Number Sync will work but via Bluetooth it will, My Gears S2 works so the S3 should be fine via Bluetooth

It was not on the play store for me, but apkmirror is run by the Android police guys and is reliable. They even show when the signature for a file is the same as on the play store (which it is for everything I've come across).

Been using my Gear S3 (Frontier) with no problems at all. Works very well thus far - enough to get me to dump my Apple Watch finally.
Now to find a way to replace the stupid 1+ phone app and this is a keeper for sure.
I have a 5t and a gear s3.
Everything works fine calls etc. Samsung pay is the hardest to get working. I had to install the apk from apk mirror. Also if yous ever chnage roms use titanium backup to backup every samsung app and its services or the watch will need to reset itself.
Btw if u root. Use magisk hide to hide all the samsung apps.
Fyi use google messages so u can reply on the watch. And if u can/want use googles phone app.
Thank you for all your input!
Now I can go agead and order the phone:good:
Working:
Latest version of samsung pay APK doesn't work.
Downloaded much older version and it worked like a charm:

Hey mate. I tried installing this on my oneplus 6 , the apk file installs fine but when I open it I get the following error message.

Was it the oneplus 6 you managed to get this working on ? or was it a different model.

I got that message too and several errors trying to reach the server but eventually it'll work. Try uninstalling samsung pay plugin, gear app and factory reset on the watch, then download both apps on the phone, pair with the gear app, when you install the smasung pay plugin using the apk, tap on update and then add your cards
I hear that it's better then it was but still can be flaky. Just gotta play some games to get it to wrok right I guess. Gonna wait for the new S4 watch that is ditching Tizen OS and finally going with Android Wear OS.

OnePlus 6. Find the 1.5 apk and install that.
Worked for me. Newer versions tended to give me errors like you did.
Been using samsung pay for the past month successfully. Extra bonus, the 1.5 apk has limited compatibility with the samsung gear app unlike later versions. A nice bonus is if safetynet fails(ie: magisk failed to hide it), samsung pay on the watch still works flawlessly.

I finally just broke down and bought a Galaxy S5 for 75 bucks on eBay and I have it plugged in at home 24/7. I used to set up my watch and Samsung pay and since it's a Samsung phone it works 100% over the internet. Non-samsung phones require a Bluetooth connection with their host phone to work with all of the features. So my Samsung phone at home connects with my gear S3 watch over the internet no matter where I am. it works like a champ for me and I'm not having to wipe my watch and reset it up every 3 days because I'm messing around with my Op6. I have been thinking about trying to get at work I'm going to be 6 just for grins and if I do I will report back here lol.
I have been using the gear S3 frontier with the op6 from the beginning, I've had the phone since launch, and everything works 100%.
Use magisk hide so Samsung pay works on one plus.
I have the Gear S3 Frontier with a Oneplus 6T that just arrived yesterday.
Everything was downloaded and installed by the Google Play store.
It works just like it did on the Samsung Galaxy Note 5.
Now I'm wondering if Samsung Pay will detect if I root or not. I did not take this chance on my Galaxy Note 5
