The New Moto X has a hidden menu app, and that thing has allot of permissions too! check it out!
That's on all android phones. It's a service menu.

So I think that there are enough users that are still using the official HTC Rom with Sense 4.0 and are annoyed by the 3 dots menu that appeared in the applications non optimized for Android 4.0 (ICS).
I already discuss these aspects with the HTC representative in Romania (on line chat) suggesting them to include in an official update some kind of modding of the virtual buttons (like on pressing recent apps longer to go into menu section - on Sensation, official ICS Update Sense 3.6, long pressing home = recent apps) and he assured me that my problem will be reported to HTC and it will be taken into consideration.
But I'm not very sure that they will be listening only one voice so I decided to start this kind of petition, maybe they will move faster, or do something for this issue.
So please vote if are you for official modding of the annoying 3 dots menu on the HTC One S / X?.

You have my vote, since I'm not planning on rooting my One S anytime soon.
I don't think the 3 dots menu should be removed. It serves as the menu button for those applications which do not have ICS style menu button (on top-right corner). For example, Facebook app.
If it's removed, we'll no longer be able to call the menu. The thing we should is to urge the app developers to integrate the ICS style menu button, so that this 3 dots would not be displayed.
If you wanna bring up such an idea, suggest ways for the company to remove the 3 dot menu. Don't just expect magic to happen where one day it will all be good. HTC cannot make a capacitive menu button magically appear next to the home button. Tell the app creators to make a better logical menu button placement on-screen.
at least, for rooted phones, we can mode it like Galaxy S style.
- mod to remove 3 dots menu
- mod to change the multi-task button serve as menu button
- mod to bring multi-tasking on long press of menu button (or home button in case if you prefer 2.*.* method)
The ideea is to assign the menu option either to home or recent apps capacitive buttons. Like for instance, in Sense 3.6 from Htc Sensation (running official Android 4.0 update) the home button has 2 functions: if it is pressed normaly is home if pressed longer is recent apps. So, as I mentioned in the beginning of my post, Htc should roll an update that will assign the menu button to either home or recent apps button as described above.

Quick question- I'll get right to it. On the HTC One X (or most any HTC that I find at AT&T or Verizon, for that matter) when I go to the installed applications in the app drawer, I can't figure out how to change the view to be an alphabetical list. How is this done- or is it that it can't be done on the new version of Sense on ICS on these phones? I'm not a big fan of everything being pages of icons, I'd like to get to an app drawer view which is a list of installed apps.
So- I searched on "list view" and "app drawer" - but didn't come up with anything definitive.
Help?
Thanks,
-Subs
Its not a feature on the stock launcher. Not sure, a 3rd party launcher may offer a list view.
Thanks for the clear response. That's what I suspected- HTC customer support actually finally got back to me with the same reply/confirmation. That's lametastic- bit of a deal breaker for me. Not to be too snotty, but if I wanted "all icon action all the time" - I'd get me an iPhone.
I hate to think that I'd have to get the One X or Verizon's Droid Incredible 4G LTE and immediately replace Sense to get a preferable UI. Bah.
Thanks.

If a 3rd party launcher has the list view option, you wouldn't be replacing the whole Sense UI, just the launcher.

Can't vouch for it working on our phone. Just found it by Googling around.

And that's the beauty of Android isn't it? Just because the stock firmware doesn't do what you want, doesn't really limit you. Its likely that some app or mod exists for any customization you could want.
I like to see good old dialpad on my phone screen when I'm about to make a call.
Unfortunately Google decided that calling on the phone using numpad is a secondary feature but fortunately I work in a company that employs few Android developers and they did a 2 minute side project for me. The result is an app that launches dialpad within the stock phone app so that I can replace the phone icon on my home screen with the one that takes me direct to good old phone interface. (icon is labeled "Call")
I have tested the app on my Nexus 5 with both Android version. 4.4.4 and 5.0 and it seems to work fine.
Probably I'm not the only one who misses the old phone interface but who would like to keep using the stock dialer app, so i decided to share what I got for fixing it

Update 04.08.2016
Sorry for not keeping this thread up to date but i have posted the app to Play Store ages ago.
I can't post links but search for "Classic Dialer for Lollipop" in Play store.
Update 07.11.2016
Changed the name of the app in Play Store to plain and simple "Dialpad".

Thank you so much for this! I can't believe this did not receive more attention. Works great on Slim 4.4.4. :good:

No, you are not the only one. I really hated it when I first tried KitKat and Lollipop, and the numpad / digits would not show right away. Thank you for sharing this with everyone, it works great on Lollipop. :good:
I believe this still exists in Marshmallow. Google should really make this an option in the default app. The current behavior does not work for everyone and not everyone will find your app (or even bother looking).
5.0, 5.01, 6.x confirmed!
So...months have gone by with this annoyance... I'm running CM13, Android M.. like the other guy said, I cannot believe this app hasn't gained more attention. I have found that some of this is due to the wording of the issue at hand...kept getting alternative dialer apps in my results....BLASPHEMY... So..yeah.. So everyone knows, this also works with not only the stock dialer, but Dialer for Hangouts as well as Skype.
Too bad I can only hit "THANKS" once...
Thank you.
How to install DialerLauncher?

Newbe
with no intention to hijack your great contriubtion:
there's an xposed module that does the same thing with native app>> show dialpad
where were you before i found out this one?!
i'm sure most of the people don't want to mess with xposed, like myself, and will appreciate the provided solution(s)....
:good:
A Little Added Information...
It works very well under Nougat also. :good: Use the back button to access the recent's list.
This works on Marshmallow, if someone's wondering.
Ran across this thread trying to find a solution for the same problem. Having had a look at the linked app, I realized it was just sending some kind of intent that caused the phone app to open to the dialpad. Long story short, the Tasker "Call" action (with no phone number specified) does the same thing, so if you have Tasker, you can just create a shortcut to a task with that one action.
Well done! Thank you!
I DLed, from Play Store, following the link in the OP.
No more favorites page, when opening dialer! If you do want the favorites page, just hit the back button after opening dialer.
After a reboot it still opens the dial pad!
Using on the Moto Dialer app on Moto Z2 Play.
GREAT! GREAT! GREAT!
Works on motor 4 on 7.1.1 thanks for this
Still works on Stock Nougat. Thanks.
Awesome! Thanks so much. Just what I was looking for! ??

Thank you so much. I have been trying to implement this for yearsss. Failed everytime up until today. Now i can swipe and hold the back gesture and the dial pad emerges Thanks!
Hi peoples, i bring here a app very cool.
With it we can simulate the active notifications, works so fine... Is totaly customizable.
I use it with new CM 12 and works very well...
Search for "Dinamic Notifications" on play store. (I can't post links here, i'm new in forum...)
Enjoy and sorry my bad english...
Its better AcDisplay
i think acdisplay it's better
is AcDisplay, or other analog use "native" support moto x? (battery discharge in compare with stock moto x)
Hello everyone.
So I upgraded to Pie like three weeks ago or so, and something that didn't quite make sense was the new recent apps design. The moto x4 doesn't have the biggest of all screens, so a horizontal recent apps was, let's say, less than efficient.
Luckily for us there's an easy way to bring back the vertical recent apps design. To do so we first need to install a third party launcher (personal favourite is nova launcher prime ), then we need to deactivate moto's stock launcher. I think we can do that directly from Settings>Apps>Show system apps and deactivating moto launcher; I did it via root explorer, the launcher apk is located in /system/priv-app/Launcher3QuickStep , in there is a file named (you guessed it) Launcher3QuickStep.apk, all you need to do is change the name to Launcher3QuickStep.apk1 or some shoot like that. Reboot and voilá, vertical stacked recent apps.
Hope this helps, cheers.
Cool. BTW, the Android One equivalent is:
/system/priv-app/AndroidOneLauncher/AndroidOneLauncher.apk
