Ok people so here's the deal, we all know that it seems to be very difficult to get approved for the Samsung Theme Designer SDK. We also know that a lot of people have been approved that have zero experience. We also know that a lot of very talented, experienced theme designers have been denied. So that begs the question WHY??? Is there some magic sorcery required? Are we not jumping through the right hoops to get approved???
This screen may look familiar to you guys. I woke up to it this morning and was quite disappointed and am left scratching my head.

I gave specific details in my theme concept outlining how I would use accent colors in action bars and how I would utilize long shadows for specific icons, let them know what the main backgrounds of the theme would be and also mentioned font colors to contrast things.
I also uploaded screens of how the theme would look, included folders with icon samples, .9 samples, common image samples (fabs, etc) and still no love.
They aren't exactly specific with what exactly they mean by lack/verified details so it's a bit of a mystery.
I sent them an email [email protected] asking for clarity on what they need to see from us so it will be interesting to see if they reply or not.
Anyway the point of this thread is for us to hopefully come together and share ideas on putting together a solid application in order to get that coveted email saying congratulations!!!
They require a theme concept, brief introduction and a portfolio.
This is where things are a bit grey given they do not post any examples or specify exactly what they want to see from us.
So it would be great for us to share ideas on what key things we can include in each of the above mentioned areas to wow them.
It would be excellent for anyone who has been recently approved to chime in on this too. If you were an early approved theme designer that just sent in an email asking to be approved, I ask that you refrain from posting that as it is not helpful and just consider yourself lucky and be thankful.
This thread is open to any good ideas/proven ideas. Please only post if you have helpful ideas. No trolling or silly ideas please. We all have a common goal so let's work together and we all win!!!
I too was denied 2 times. I sent links to my work of DarkHorse themed Rom's, and the many, many themed apps... but was also denied..

Oh yeah that would be fantastic. It would be one thing if they were being upfront and informing us that they are not accepting new applicants at this time. If that is the case and they're not being honest then their emails are giving us false hope. Being primarily a CM themer this is what made me choose to even purchase an S6. The concept of reaching out to more people and designing themes for more devices is enticing. It seems counter-productive to limit the amount of theme designers for their product.
Well this certainly isn't going how I had hoped it would! Was worth a shot! Guess I'll shut'r down!

You see the first N1, the interface looks really good and then if you read the comments from the user, it says:
"I also added the first look at the new Deep Blue user interface that will ship in a ROM update that has yet to be decided. For those who root, watch out for this one. It will be complete and may add a few new widgets you don't get with the stock Android interface. Please read the legal note below regarding the new interface."
There is also a legal notice on this so no one can copy this work....
So what do you guys think?

fwoar dude, that looks sick!
Hmm Gingerbread anyone ?
Doubt anything official would ever look like that, personally.
Really do NOT dig that dial-like theme...
I'd love to see it becoming real, but those pics are really old and still nothing....
I love the missed calls / emails / text messages...to bad he doesn't know its Sergey Brin not Bin

looks great. does anyone know what that clock widget on the darker version is?
Seems like the dock at the bottom is a colossal waste of screen space for the number of buttons it has.

i'm going to label it the symbian theme
You guys are hilarious! Thanks to commenting on my theme. It WAS in development for Ultimate Droid Rom but Blackdroid and I kinda parted ways on a good note. So that leaves this theme in limbo. Anyone interested in working on making it a reality? Contact me at zandog (at) gmail dot com I also have a few more themes on my smartphone design concepts at zandog.deviantart.com
wait so we can download this already? check out the download button on the side. we can download already?!
I hope you are not being serious. It's only a psd file for photoshop if anyone wants to make theme.

lol yeah i would like that too
Is there anyway to get that red android wallpaper? looks really nice.
So, I'm a graphic designer by trade and while working on expanding my portfolio, I started thinking about an app concept. Slowly I worked out the concept for a honeycomb app, this included UI, functions, visual identity, uses, targeted user base. The main idea was to create an app that was both visually appealing and useful since most android apps around frankly look like ****.
Now what I'm looking for is a dev to translate this concept into an actual app since I'm a lowly designer and my programming experience doesn't go beyond jQuery. Now for all I care the dev interested can sell it or distribute it for free, all I want is credit for the design and initial concept.
Now because of this I'm not going to just post the idea for the app here since I put a lot of time and effort into it, but any dev willing to help can PM me and I'll give detailed information. I must tell you that it is a relatively simple app.
Also to prove I am not just talking out of my ass,
here's the logo design:

and here is a screenshot of a part of the app:
I must note again that I'm not looking for profit or money, just credit.
EDIT: please fix the title.

I have gotten 2 responses, and it's a productivity app aimed at people who enjoy drawing.
And no it is not a drawing app.
bump again
bump to the top.
sadface bump ):
that logo looks like a electrostatic tablet pen for drawing. I'm guessing you're trying to make a tablet driver for Honeycomb?
Or, probably you're tying to make a simulated pressure sensitive drawing application with one thumb on that slider on the side controlling brush size.

From the Logo, I thought it was smoking related... like smoking a big ole reefer or something.
In all seriousness, if I may critique the logo. The colors are working great as red black and white always seem to harmonize nicely.
What I think could work better is if you got rid of some of that negative... actually empty space around the stylus. In other words, crop in closer to the actual tool. It will put much more emphasis on your focal point, the pen.
Also fix the sinuous lines coming off the tip. Right now, it looks as if you're tyring to illustrate smoke.
I think those are the only issues that I personally see. Good luck and keep us posted~
Hello, I don't really know if it's all right to post this kind of thread here but I haven't been able to find any other forum that seems like the proper place for my thread. I'd like to say sorry in advance if I have indeed posted in the wrong section.
Anyhow, me and a friend are working on a set of apps and a slightly modified android rom as our IT project this year. We are hoping to win a prize in the local competition which will be held here in Bosnia on 23rd of next month and then hopefully make our way to some international competitions.
I'd like to quickly go over our project.
HIVE OS is an "operating system" based on android for usage in school tablets. It contains some pre-installed applications such as: Notebooks, Books, Drawings... It synchronizes users' documents with the cloud allowing users to access their files from their personal phones, tablets, computers, etc...
As the competition draws closer we have started with writing academic papers such as the research paper. Some stats are required in a research paper. Some testing and data analysis. Thus, as a member of this forum I thought that I could get some interested people's opinions, let them test the apps and collect their feedback...
If you are interested in testing Notebooks, Books and Drawings apps and helping us with our data collection you can download attached apps and once you are done with your testing you can submit your feedback by filling the form over at feedback website.
Some points to keep in mind:
1 .We are 2 high school 3rd year guys. Our experience with android programming is pretty fresh. My friend only launched ADT for the first time as he began this project, whereas, I, even though I had launched it before hadn't been able to produce anything useful.
2. As these apps are intended for tablets, we didn't really put any special effort in trying to make them fit every screen (smaller screens). They should be fine on devices with screen similar to the one of the nexus 4 and higher...
3. Books app requires at least a single book to be present under /HIVE/Books in your sdcard. Otherwise, it will look empty. This is because these apps are supposed to receive their material by means of synchronization. I'll be attaching a zip file (Introduction to Trigonometry.zip) to extract there but if you end up having problems and can't make the app show a book, please skip books app in the feedback form. Thank you for your understanding.
Another note is that we hope you'll go easy on us. As I already mentioned, we are pretty new into android development. The data collected from the forms are going to be used in the academic side of things. Those who know will probably understand... It won't hurt if you give a 4 where you actually think it deserves a 3. We don't want to have graphs which will make it look like our apps suck.
Of course, this doesn't mean that you should go with all 5s. Fill the forms the way you think, but we'd be happy if you didn't give a lot of 1s and 2s...
Thank you for your understanding on this as well.

What you have on your watch is your own business. What your browsing in wirks time on a works computer isn't.
The title NSFW is a warning. Not to browse at work. This thread implys nothing about not wearing your watch to work.
That's stupid to even think that. Hello....... this is xda not a porn sight where women in lingerie usually feature
I know you were be trying to be funny. And not contribute anything else but a trolls comment. But your gonna have to Try harder

I assume that your reply should elicit some troll comment from a person who was actually attempting to troll you, although it was difficult to properly decipher your message due to the vast array of grammatical errors. However, my comment was simply attempting slight humor while alerting people of the dangers of having a picture like this on your watch if you need to be professional at your place of work. I do understand that you are simply providing the XDA community with more options to change the background on their Gear devices from the standard backgrounds that most people are supplying. I meant no disrespect towards your thread and I do appreciate you taking time to provide the community with these backgrounds.

I definitely wouldn't want these on my watch at work! But I would switch them the second I left work
I hate people with long signatures and have a GIF in them. Really side tracks me.
First we have people who uses XDA from a mobile application, which has signatures enabled as default.
Code:
sent from my a0001
I could not care less.
Then we have the people who adds a GIF to their signature

"lightbox_toggle_sidebar": "Toggle sidebar"
}
(upvote or whatever)
Which doesn't make me upvote their comment or whatever, instead it side-tracks me from the post I'm trying to read. Really annoying and pictures should be allowed in signatures.
Then we have people who have their lifes work on a signature.
I don't mind those people, as it may be hard work they have put up. But still; not my thing.
Then we have people who have all information in the world about their phone, what ROM they run, recovery, kernel, settings, sometimes even weird patches.
IF I WANTED TO KNOW THAT STUFF YOU RUN THEN I WOULD ASK YOU RIGHT!?!? As if every human in the world asked the guy and he didn't want to tell each one by one.
At last we have people who bough a OnePlus device. So what people would do right, is they include the whole process of buying the phone into their signature. Not only on the XDA forum, but also on the oneplus forums (renamed to Community). It's getting on my nerves everytime i browse the OnePlus forums. Literally everyone has that stuff. STOP IT!
Code:
bought the phone 11/11/11
> processing 11/11/12
> shipping 22/11/33
> recived 77/33/22
CONGRATS!?!
Some people also have a picture instead of text, which makes it even harder to scroll down. Like I care when your device was bought.
Something to add to this rant, is that signatures makes a page go really fast, especially if people have a large signature. I see more signatures than actual replies.
For some reason you can even add which mobile carrier you have on your phone to your XDA profile. What's next? IMEI, S.O?
So you there: stop with signatures completely, they were made for emails in the first place and instead turned to be a spam in forums, people writing one line reply then a signature which is the motherload, that's SPAM. No wonders there's not a lot of posts in one page.
I can't tell if this rant was a long one or not. Some people will say for sure that you can turn off signatures or whatever. That shouldn't be necessary, instead look at your ugly signatures and remove them.

Signatures were very popular in the past, now that many people uses mobile versions in my opinion they aren't a good idea. Forums used to lock signature images with 300x150px resolutions.

Using a mobile device isn't a issue. In all XDA forum apps I've tried you can turn off signatures.
I don't have a major problem with people with signatures, unless they make a book out of it, which everyone seems to do.
But yeah, the admins need to set a limit to signatures.
Signatures are a way for members to express themselves, pass on information, etc, etc. And yes, there is an option in the user control panel to disable them from your experience if you so choose! :good:
But opinion noted and thread closed.
Cheers,
Darth
