Noob question: Reinstalling Rom using ODIN? - Sprint Galaxy S 5 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

So, I'm not really a Noob, just really out of practice and trying to install a custom ROM on my wife's Sprint s5 sm-g900p.
Here's what happened:
1) I rooted the phone
2) Installed TWRP
3) Made sure everything worked fine
4) Downloaded a custom ROM and placed on the External SD Card
5) Booted into TWRP and did an advanced Wipe
6) Made the Noob mistake of also wiping the External SD Card (oops)
So...
7) I downloaded [ROM][ODIN]SM-G900P NE5 (NE5 Modem/Kernel/Bootloader/ROM - Full Restore - Unrooted) from here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/spr...nt/rom-sm-g900p-ne5-ne5-modem-kernel-t2805319
8) I followed the instructions and began the firmware re-installation after pulling the battery for 10 seconds and booting into Download mode..
9) Odin response: FAIL!
Question:
Anyone have any idea how I can put another ROM on this phone to make it usable again?
Thanks

Use an external sd reader and put the ROM on the sd again.

How do I recover my GT-19100 O2 UK?

Hi, I had my phone unlocked and rooted with GT_19100_XXK14_original and CF-Root_SGS2_XX_XEO_K14-V... All was working correctly but I decided to try installing ICS ROM Batista70 FoxHound Edition 0.3. The install seemed to go smoothly but upon reboot phone was frozen in boot screen. The freezing happened at each reboot, so I tried flashing back to the earlier ROM, knowing I had CMW and zip files on the SD card. CMW would give me the option to install from SD but did not find any zip files! I can put the SD in a card reader and see the zip files with windows explorer. I got into download mode and tried to flash XXK14_original with Odin but this failed. I am now left with a phone which will go into download mode but no longer has CF-Root - the recovery is now the standard blue version of Samsung and indeed this does not see zip files either! Could it be the zips are corrupt? Is it any use to try re downloading a zip file direct to the SD card? There doesn't appear to be any ROM installed as start-up doesn't proceed beyond the "S" logo.
How should I proceed? I have explored this site for clues and cannot find anything relevant. Now desperate please help!

Install a ROM based on the new firmware, the old one won't boot unless you reflash old firmware.
I recommend reflashing the old firmware getting messages, contacts, etc onto your memory card.
Then flash 3.32 firmware. Then format all partitions except SD Card from recovery. Then install your ROM.
Im sorry im brand new to all of this I just rooted my phone fine and then I tried doing something and it messed up can you give a step by step on what to do and with details it would be really helpful. Thanks !
To install a new rom based on the 3.32 firmware you download the rom to your computer plug in your device after It's downloaded, your device needs to be debugging on in settings, you will then check run as disk drive instead of charge option, then click on file sharing , go to downloads, share with disk drive e the removable disk drive which is your device.this will copy the rom to the root of your sd card. Unplug. Then go into recovery, wipe data factory reset, wipe cash, wipe dalvick cash, stay in recovery when finished, then install zip from sd card, stay in recovery, reboot. Then you have installed your rom. You want to make sure the firmware matches the rom. Ics Roms or 4.0.3, are 3.32 firmware gb Roms are different firmware. Hope this helps. You have 3.32 firmware so use a Ics rom. (4.0.3). This is how I flash mine. Good luck and hope I helped.

Steps 1 (method 2) & 4 from here.
The file required for 4: http://www64.zippyshare.com/v/66813266/file.html
Now, once done, pull out the battery from the phone. Remove the SD Card. Reinsert the battery.
Boot to bootloader by holding Volume down & Power button.
Next, select Recovery option. It will take some time to boot without the SD Card.
You will then see a menu. Don't switch off the phone but just insert the SD Card.
Select mounts|storage > mount /sdcard
Go back to the previous menu.
Select Toggle USB Storage.
Your SD Card can now be accessed from the computer. Delete the PG58IMG.zip from SD Card
Copy the ROM of your choice & put it on the SD Card.
Once done, select Disconnect (on the phone)
Select wipe|format >Format all partitions except SD Card.
Once done, go back.
Select Install zip from SD Card. Select your ROM zip file & install.
Once done, reboot.

Did you bother to read the guide?
Connect USB in bootloader (fastboot USB), fastboot flash recovery recovery.img, fastboot reboot-bootloader
I'm not going to answer any more questions.
Whatever you need has already been linked to you.
Thank you so much, do you have any tips on what I should do next ?

Recovering Phone after failed rom (no backup)

Hello, my phone is rooted and unlocked but unfortunately I'm stuck without a way to rom my phone back to operation (4.0.4). I made the mistake of not keeping a backup or rom on my internal sdcard . Clockworkmod doesn't seem to work when you try and mount the sdcards in recovery
I decided to try the jellybean rom which for some reason doesn't have the play store on it which I cannot install astro so I can copy a new rom over within the os.
I didn't leave any roms on my internal sd card , I cannot mount the internal or external sdcard CWM recovery to copy a new rom and install (running 6.0 CMW) , I've attempted to find a solution to flashing ANY rom back onto my phone via ODIN but no luck.
are their roms available in md5 / tar format that I've overlooked?
Thank you so much!
You may need to flash with a PIT file included with stock rom tar. Look around for a PIT FILE. I don't know if anyone has one posted

did you download GAPPS??? thats probably why you dont have a play store
^^^^^^ that's probably true. If you want to change roms with Odin, there are a handful of Odinable files around. Do you want to go back to an unrooted or rooted rom? Also, what happens when you try to access your SD card (internal or external) from CWM? And where did you get the CWM you are currently running?
There are links to ODINable stock images and the like at http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1762709. You should be able to restore your phone to an out-of-the-box state with the information and directions provided.
just do a quick search

[Completed] Probs with TWRP Recovery - not recognized Ext SD + Auto quit & booting to Android sys

Probs with TWRP Recovery - not recognized Ext SD + Auto quit & booting to Android sys
Hi, I am having following problems with TWRP on my i9082 - Stock 4.2.2. I did a stock factory reset first. And then installed TWRP using Odin.
Note:My phone is rooted, using SUv2.65.
1) TWRP 3.0 + all versions. I have tried every version till the latest 3.02, but with every 3.0 and higher version, my external SD Card is not detected... Though Android System can detect the SD Card, and read and write files to it.
2) If I use TWRP 2.8.6 tar installed using Odin, then it reads the SD Card, but gives this message E:Unknown File System: 'datamedia' .
If I ignore that message, and try backing up my Stock ROM, then in about half a minute, it automatically reboots into Android system, and the Backup is not created...
Hence I am not able to create any Backup.
Could somebody please help. I can't understand that error. And also can't understand why higher versions of TWRP (which do not have this error), cannot detect the SD Card
But in every version, I cannot stop TWRP automatically quitting and the Phone booting into Android in less than a minute. I even disabled Screen timeout... Doesn't help!

No access to internal SD - TWRP Root Format SD Card etc... plz read

Hi!
I was on Oreo on the S8+ F (Exynos) I got this update OTA.
I wanted to have the "normal" root and TWRP again. I decided to install the TWRP, the no-verity-opt-encrypt-6.0 and the Car HD Rom latest CRAP oreo version.
The steps I did:
I hit the buildnumber button enough times.
I chose USB Debugging.
I powered OFF my phone and started to the download mode.
I flashed the latest TWRP file.
I quickly put my fingers to the right buttons and the device rebooted to TWRP RECOVERY.
I swiped right although it said the "...can't modify... read only.."
I chose advanced wipe and chose format with typing "yes"
I had the no-verity-opt-encrypt file on the SD Card and the CARHD Rom on the SD Card, too.
After formatting I installed first the CAR HD Rom and then before Reboot the no-verity-opt-encrypt file.
I tried also to install 2 .zip files 1st the CAR HD Rom and then automatic the no-verity-opt-encrypt file.
Both times the CAR HD ROM was installed and everything looked fine, but both versions, when I rebooted to recovery the internal SD was missing. I can't even choose the internal SD only the external SD.
What am I doing wrong? Any ideas? It was never a problem, it seems to be a problem since the oreo update.
Everything is working fine, but root without using the SD card is senseless. No backups, many other things that are not good.
If someone can help, please do so :good:

I had this issue. It only fixed when I used soldiers 9321's ROM. Been flawless since.
I can't find the ROM, but there must be a solution for all other ROM's too??
Can you give me a link, I never heard anything about it.
Thanks,

Moved here, out of the Development Sections.
Did you make sure in Settings/Developer you had OEM set to unlock?
I did not see that in your instruction set. Gotta have it set . . .
