do you use trusted devices for unlocking?
Sent from my SM-N920T using Tapatalk
Yes. I use trusted unlocking with my watch (Moto 360), Bluetooth headphones, and car. If it recognize one of those devices then I don't have to deal with the hassle of unlocking my phone every time. Since it sticks with Bluetooth, the phone is likely within 30 feet or so.

Only my car stereo so I can do a few minor things from my watch instead of dealing with it in the car. The rest I just use the fingerprint reader.
I use trusted devices. It's good if you leave your phone somewhere. It'll automatically lock it.

So the functionality does not work with the fingerprint reader? as in if you are using fingerprint as your lock option, the phone would still lock with a trusted device connected?

I ask because it has never worked with my note 5. I gave up and changed to fingerprint because typing password was getting annoying.
Same watch worked perfectly fine with my Moto X 14 (duh!).
I also use a moto hint as a 5rusted device and my phone locks nevertheless.

Yes I am using the first gen. Fingerprint scanner works well on this end. You may have a bad sensor on your phone.

I might have to go back and forth on this - I got really used to the finger print log in. I got to the point where I could mount the phone on the dash of the car and unlock it without taking my eyes off the road.
It is worth it though - I don't normally use WiFi tether everyday - so switching back and forth will be fine with me.
I think they just somehow found a way to work around the VZ subscription check and turn on the WiFi Tether anyways. I have a feeling there will be an update to plug that hole at some point.
Indeed... if you don't accept the update all should be well lol. Appears to me to us the VPN to bypass the service check.

BTW if you remove the foxfi credentials from security you can return to your normal lock screen until the next time you need foxfi.

There is a workaround for this. Read the app description at play store. The idea basically is to setup a pattern, nota pin, as screen lock security and to fail entering the pattern 5-10 times, then just say ok to forget pattern and then it is necessary to enter your Google password to unlock your device. Such a way you'll keep the security certificate with no lock screen pin.
Sent from my Nexus 7 using XDA Premium 4 mobile app
i dont think that work around is working. Can only choose between pin and password. No pattern option. I have also cleared credentials and it does the same thing. Annoying, i likley wouldnt have paid the 7.95 for the app had i known this silliness. Granted its nice to see it working without root on the new s5, but its a little more than annoying. Perhaps the developer can fix this so what is in the app description actually works like they say for the s5. or others.

Can you post here direct Google play link ?
How many price it will be for full beta ?
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.foxfi
$7.95 for Full Version, Free to try.
As others have stated, it works on the S5 but you need to turn on the lock screen setting.
Also after you launch Foxfi you have to turn on your Verizon mobile hotspot.

It won't allow a pattern unlock do so that bypass won't work. However simply deleting the certificate and changing it back over does.

Is that the Certificate that it takes you to when your phone is restarted and it says 'a Third Party App may be monitoring you?

I absent-mindedly accepted the Security Update a little bit back, and FoxFi still works for me just fine.
yes that is the certificate.
After you turn on the Verizon moble hotspot will it say "Checking subscription"?
Mine has been doing that and I wanted to know if it is suppose to or if I'm doing something wrong.

You need to activate the FoxFi hotspot first and then it will prompt you to turn on the Samsung hotspot. Needs to be in that order as its basically creating a trusted VPN tunnel.
Hi,
I'm on CM12.1 Nightlies, and I'm looking into the Smart lock features. I've added an NFC tag to the trusted devices, but I don't really understand how it works now...
I expected to be able to scan my tag when screen is locked, to easily unlock it, but when I do nothing happens, like if NFC weren't even enabled when screen locked (if that's the case it's stupid to even let me select a NFC trusted device, right?)
Anyone know how NFC trusted devices is intended to work in CM12.1?
Anything more I should look at?
Btw. I'm using AK kernel 300, not sure it can have anything to do here...
Any help or pointer is much appreciated. TIA.

Any more info about how that works? After digging a bit more into it in Google I found that the phone must already be unlocked, and must stay on top of the NFC tag, which is not at all what I expected and... Well, in my case worthless.
I'd value a lot more Trusted Wifi, which for whatever dumb reason Google hasn't thought useful to develop apparently (nor anybody contributing to CM unfortunately ?).

Hi,
I broke my OPO's digitizer about a week ago and I need to access an app. Is there a way that I can unlock and control my phone through my computer?... I do not have an app already installed to handle this task.
Thank you

Use an USB-OTG cable and connect a Mouse directly with your phone.
I've read this a couple times and it should work.

Has anybody noticed that smart lock doesn't work like before in lollipop? I have smart lock set for Bluetooth devices and location. Even when I have the Bluetooth device connected, my phone requires a fingerprint or password to unlock. It doesn't do this all the time but it does most of the time.
Anyone else notice this problem?

Well if you are worried that your phone will update automatically, it won't because your /system partition has been modified (you have root access). Either way, you will be notified about the update and you can simply ignore it.

Did you have any issues using LG Bridge? I getting an error on my device right at 49% that says "Image Verifying Failed", two times in red. After that message I get a message in Bridge that I need to retry the update (retrying gets the same error).

I also used LG Bridge. Fingerprint scanner works great now with my Otterbox case. I had no problems updating through Bridge, took maybe 20 minutes.

I took the update thru the LG Bridge. It came thru flawlessly. Things I've noticed...
- Fingerprint scanner seems to be very sensitive now. Registering a new fingerprint was effortless, unlike the first times I did it. MUCH improved.
- 2nd screen functionality for notifications seem better. My messages wouldn't scroll when they got displayed, now they do.
- MUCH better battery life.
- Sharing options are improved BIG TIME. It gives frequently used phone numbers now.
- The dialer has a native video call option now and it's awesome. I called my girlfriend on her Galaxy S6 Edge and she got the option to answer or answer in a video call. Very nice.
- Maybe placebo, but the camera seems a bit snappier.
Anyway, those are my thoughts on the update. Very nice and welcomed update. Also, this is the only phone I've never had to root just to get some extra functionality.

Did anybody else notice a difference in front and rear camera quality while taking a picture and the marshmallow update?
I'm excited about the update I'm one of the few who have problems with the fingerprint scanner when I put a case on my phone but without a case this is got to be one of the fastest unlocking phones with fingerprint I've ever owned and I've owned quite a few phones... I'm going to update to marshmallow tonight
