Rearth Ringke Slim case for Nexus 4 review

Ordered my nexus 4 and slim case together, got the case today, no sign of my phone yet!
Appearance wise the case looks, as usual, slim - very slim! probably less than 1/2 mm and super light! I have the galaxy nexus slim case as well and there's a leather patch in the back with rearth logo and all. On this one its sketched on the case itself - adding no bulk and probably making it lighter
Design-wise it looks and feels like a premium case, the matte black finish and well cut edges primarily contributes to that. Power button and volume rocker cuts are well tapered - cannot validate the placement though, not without the phone of-course! The material is also somewhere in between sft-tpu and hard-plastic, something that feels natural in hand.
Safety/peace of mind wise, it'll probably feel a little less secure than the galaxy nexus slim case. On the galaxy nexus case the the top and bottom was fully covered, the microUsb and headphone ports were pluggable and the sides ware exposed a bit. In this nexus 4 case the sides are fully covered, top and bottom are exposed and the ports are not pluggable
There's a side-effect of the full side-covered design though (which I cannot confirm right now). According to the reviews the nexus 4, the front glass is slightly tapered on the edges making edge to edge gestures fluid and natural. This might have been more enjoyable with a design similar to galaxy nexus slim case with top and bottom covered and sides exposed. This is not a deal breaker though as ALL the cases available today, including the original bumper case, will have the same side effect. I wish, given the stability/usability of the galaxy nexus slim case, they could have chosen a similar design - it'd have been more enjoyable.

got 2nd rev, first one came with minor defect! got prompt response from them and the revised case. sadly, still its not 100% perfect.
however, given current choices, this is relatively better...

Jst got my case yesterday, and I would honestly wait to see if these go down in price, or just not at all. It doesn't fit snugly on the left side of my device (by the volume rocker), and to me thats a problem. It barely, if at all, protects above the screen line, so it's really for the sides and back. Not a big deal for me, as I never have my phone on its screen, but at $12 shipped - I expect more.

The case really feels good in hand, its super-light and I'm sure for a <$10 case, this will exceed expectation!
I'll update the review once I get the phone, just got my shipping confirmation! It should be in before the weekend - I hope.

They are sending me a revised case next week, I like it...but it's not snug and the bottom rubs on my hand weird. So I may not use it as my primary case.

mine was the rev1, defective - the left side was not snug fit! they're sending a new one, should be arriving in couple of days...
It feels good in hand but given the aesthetics of beautiful glass-back, I'm tempted to tryout the bumpers! damn both oem and poetic are out of stock...

The listing on amazon.com says it's for a revised case. Mine shipped today so if I'm lucky and it beats the USPS shipping estimate I'll have it before the weekend.

Not sure whether or not my replacement case is going to be trackable but hoping that it will be.

Yeah I really wish they had covered the top / bottom and left the sides exposed. Dunno why they didn't do that again

I contacted them via amazon and got prompt response back with the tracking details. Try contacting them, my communication experience so far (g-nex case and this one) with them is pretty positive

Yup, just like that. I'd love to have nothing intruding on the curved sides. But I will make actual judgement when I receive the case soon

Thanks, I'll give it a try.
Edit: Just checked my email from the previous ticket that the person on CSR emailed me (just remembered that they sent me an follow up email when I contacted them about it). Noticed that there was actually a USPS tracking code and label already created. Looks like it's already being processed. Definitely customer support is up there from Rearth.
@Ngo93: Yeah I'm not sure why they made the case even more minimal but personally for me I like the N4 version a lot better mainly because of the material being used from the back. It is very pleasant to hold in the hands. My only complaints at this time would be that if your hands are dirty, it does get dirty from the back but other than that it's not much. Easily cleanable.

My new updated case shipped 2 days ago, hopefully I'll have it by tomorrow

I looked at this case too, but ended up with something else because it doesn't cover all the front edges. Before my brand new N4 I had a iPhone 3GS with a case like this one. After a while all the chrome on the top edges were getting scuffed and scratched. I recommend something that covers everything but the screen, if you want a scratch-free N4.

Got my updated case, and it's 100x better. The piece in the upper left corner is bigger, but not obtrusive and fixes all the issues we had before.

Case with a kick stand?

After using a case mate naked tough case on my nexus 6 I was looking at getting a case with a kick stand for media consumption and so far not seen any for the 6p. If anyone has seen one can you let me know. Iv ordered a cheap one for the time being to offer some protection but it is only meant as a temporary until I can find one I actually want and fits the bill for my needs

Do a deeper search than I did and I bet you'll find more. Most of these seem to be the extremely bulky case types, which don't interest me personally. One case I had for the Nexus 6 which had a kickstand but was also slim was the Seidio Surface case. http://www.seidioonline.com/motorola-nexus-6-surface-kickstand-case-garnet-red-p/csr3mtn6k-gr.htm You might want to contact them and see if they plan on making a N6P case. I'll vouch for Seidio - they make pretty good products. I've even deployed them with iPhones at work.

I saw something recently about how a lot of the early cases are blocking important parts of the sensor/antenna bar (the black bar on the back of the phone). Does anyone know how much of the bar needs to be exposed to not impede functionality?
And to the OP, I've had a kickstand case with my last two phones, and last two tablets, and I just can't go back to a device without it now. So thanks for starting this thread.

I have found that many of these are preproduction images, so I wouldn't rely on the current pictures to show me anything more than a rough idea of what the final product will generally look like. Several product images have already changed on Amazon's site.
Wait until the middle / end of October for all the companies to get the products finalized. This forum already has several threads with replies from manufacturers saying designs aren't final. They are just trying to ensure they get their piece of the pie on early and preorder case dollars when they list products this early on Amazon.

Gotcha, thanks for the info.

Real interested in the i-Blason case since I'm looking for a hybrid case with a kickstand that gives me peace of mind without Nexus protect.
However I emailed them aobut the laser AF problem and got this:

Once Seidio releases their cases the Surface should have a kickstand. Using that case now on my S4 and love it.

Was thinking of it but looks very cheap
Plastic stand and i hate the silicon wrapped in Plastic.
I've seen nicer ones that are more costly by reputable companies but none for 6p
Bought a tpu for now from tudia.... Nice and slim but would like to have a spare with kickstand so I'll wait a bit more to see if anything comes up

A case with a stand will be ultimately what I get.
As I am getting a silver phone rather than a black one, I would really love a crystal clear case with stand! Although I'm sure this will never happen.

Spigen has a ring that attaches to any case (flat surface) that works as a kickstand and a grip helper for the phone. They also include a car mount with it. Here's the link

Doesn't it make it wobble when flat? Looked cool initially but I think it's a bit weird to carry 24/7 on such a nice phone. And I doubt it last forever if constantly removing it.

I just sometimes lay it flat and don't always use a kickstand. I enjoy it when I need it but not all the time.
I'd prefer a thin case that has a kickstand if and when needed.... But each use phone differently

Speck Candyshell Grip

Finally got my white Speck case today. It feels great. The cutouts are wonderful, and the USB C cable fits perfectly. My only complaint is that it's a bit difficult to get the case off after you put it on. It is possible though.

Very nice, makes me wonder if I should have chosen white over black! Mine should arrive today (hopefully), do you think a TGSP will fit well with the Speck?

I'm not sure. My TGSP arrives today. It might be a tight fit. Also, I was able to perform a screenshot without any problem, which is another complaint if some other cases.

Yes very tight fit, careful taking it out. Loving mind so far, have the Google case with logo and liking the candy shell way more. Great grip.

Is the speck case overall wider than the fabric backed Nexus logo case?

Man I bought the black version but after seeing those pics I will buy the white one soon.

I have this exact case (with the same color). I highly recommend it.
It looks sleek and feels very hardy and rugged, like if I drop it I'll have absolutely no dents / scratches.
And it becomes pathetically easy to grab this inherently-slippy phone, which is the biggest plus out of all of them. Going to need it while walking in the New York City winter.

A little bit wider, dual layer and then the ridges add a tiny fraction. Dunno if I've been rough but case seems to scratch on the black easy enough. Doing its job anyhow ??

hmm. I mean free shipping and everything if I don't like it but I don't know. my ultra hybrid is great with a tempered glass, except the buttons are meh and I know that this speck case is a good case but I also know how it adds bulk. how do you feel about the poetic affinity case @zephiK?

Yup the only thing that I dislike about the Ultra Hybrid are the buttons, luckily we have the fingerprint scanner + my ROM has dt2s on status bar and navigation bar so I can bypass the buttons.

but man, well we shall see if they have some kind of black Friday deal or cyber Monday deal with a better price drop. I'm probably just going to get the case but want to see when I can get the best discount. Best Buy only sells galaxy and iPhone cases haha smh!

Glad to see that you've been enjoying the ride. It's nice to run away from the Chroma dev thread for awhile, it gets a bit crazy over there.
I'm just afraid that the 15% is the best we're going to get. Probably what I'll do is I'll wait for them to reply via Twitter, and then if they don't I'll just either skip and see if there's a better deal or just go for it. The Speck case does look really good, it'd be really nice if someone who has a Speck case to give some insight on how much extra bulk it would add compared to a Spigen ultra hybrid.
I don't blame Best buy, 6P doesn't have any physical store presence so it wouldn't make any sense for them to have any inventory in stores for 6P cases if the phone isn't offered at Best Buy Mobile.

Haha I was thinking the exact same thing! I got the protection plan too... First phone with no camera bump - Woooohoooooo!
I've also only had a Galaxy s3, Note 3, Note 4, Note 5, and now Note 7.
Can't wait to get me some Google goodness! Some complain about the price point, where I say "finally a premium phone rather than 6 month old mid range specs phone .... Oh yeah that offered vanilla Android - which is awesome, but it's still a mid range phone..."

Much rather pay that for their photo cases which i really like and thinking of getting it as an add on gift as buying the phone for the lazy half's birthday. However not sure he'll like it. Torn....

I want it immediately also, I do not want anything to happen to it... When I got my S6 Edge+ I put the Otterbox on and while at the store, before it was even activated it got bumped off the counter onto the floor.
I do not like the Otterbox I have on my S6E+ because is it a smooth hard plastic and will on its own slide off of counters and other smooth surfaces... I much prefer the silicon or rubberized cases that grip.

I love the photo cases, like $40, there is a store nearby that sells phone cases, and can "print" onto Otterbox cases, but for either I am not sure how it will hold up... the problem for me with this, is that he charges $30 to print, plus the $60 for the Otterbox, and then the Otterbox has design pattern and their name embossed into the case so the picture may not look as good as on the smooth silicone case in the Play Store. Thanks, I didn't catch that and thought it was a TPU case. I am deciding between this one as it looks thin or a Dbrand Skin instead. I want to get the phone in hand, feel how slippery and/or fragile it feels first. The more naked the better if the phone can take a "whoops"

if only these cases would be freely distributed to first buyers... haha, just like Coby phone.

The phone has shipped but the case is still not available :-/
Google can still learn a few things from Apple. Official iPhone accessories are available and usually ship well before the phone ships.
Has anyone found anything similar outside of Google. I'm paranoid about dropping this thing particularly as I'm in a country where this is not available so will not be able to service in case of a drop.

Amazon is your best bet. I ordered my case a week ago and it should be here tomorrow. Two clear cases for 7$. Can't beat that.

Kind of pissed. I ordered three cases (around the 12th), one of the being the google clear case and they all said in stock. Then i either get emails from the companies saying sorry the case will ship out on the 28th or the arrival day is 28th-1st. Now i have a naked phone from the 20th- and i don't want to **** it up.

Spigen
I ordered the Spigen Rugged Armor from Amazon and it came a few days ago. The phone comes today. I am terrible about dropping things and recently broke my hand, so it is now worse. I prefer no case, but I drop things way too often.

Anyone know how thick the silicone is? I find it very hard to believe its 19mm which would make the case height on both sides 10.4mm which in theory makes the back a 6mm ish case. That would be otterbox big.
The other reason why I think 19mm is incorrect is that it's the same dimensions for the clear case which is noticeably thinner than the live or silicone cases.

Genuine Huawei Case for 6P

Having used 4 different types of cases without satisfaction, I finally got the right one. I am using it daily happily.

Well, you win I wish almighty God is pleased. Look closely for the logo on the left side (on the third pic).

Using it on my Gold 6P too...its a great case with minimal protection and good grip

It's a good case for the price. But mine got yellow-ish tint and it is 7 months old now. It's plastic so it's expected I guess. I have a Verus case for backup (it bulks already big device quite a lot in my opinion - that's why it's backup)

Mine also had some yellow after a while, but still like the feel...

Yeah, that may happen. That's why I got the 2-pc bundle for $5.99 - that's 3 each. The twin should work out until I switch to my next phone.

I just got the three pack in the mail, ordered it as soon as I read your OP and saw how cheap they were on eBay.
Very slick and thin, but I change out cases frequently, and think I'll enjoy having this one in rotation.

I'm glad you like it.

Bought the 3 pack, arrived quickly and in good shape. I changed the back cover from silver to black a few months back, now I'm regretting it. This case looks amazing with a silver phone from what I can see with the pictures posted in this thread. Black, not much, but still fitment is good. It does cut into my pinky with the way I hold the phone, but whatever. It was 6 bucks, lol.
