Let's get the ball rolling with this thing... I am new to blu
Search shows SP Flash tool as a main flash tool.
I expect to get root with towel root or kingroot.
If we do acquire root, the next step is to dump a stock ROM, I haven't done much dev. since jellybean, but hopefully we could map partitions (important), and do a raw dump (.img) backup, etc. A secure kernel, could prevent that, I think. If we are able to make or acquire a stock ROM, we have something to fall back on. There's always hope, they will allow unlock of bootloader from developer options in settings, or fastboot oem unlock. It looks like quite a few other blu devices have been unlocked. If worst came to worst, I'm sure we could pony up some donations to get this device into a developers hands to help.
Once we get bootloader unlocked, all we need is a custom recovery, and some source code bits, and its off to the builds, we hope!
Please share any beginning steps to help get things moving here....
this looks promising.. http://androidxda.com/download-mtk-droid-tool
Thanks!
Yes let's get the ball rolling. I'm eagerly waiting for this device. The source for the x10 is released so it looks like we're in the green for now.

No luck with either of those. I've tried a lot of "one-click" apks and none of them work. It looks like I'm going to have to dig out an old desktop from my basement and make myself a Windows machine (urgh!!). I agree, Sp Flash Tools and MK Droid Tools look like a good place to start.
SP Flash Tool for Linux
I've been trying to get my linux (Ubuntu 14.04) to recognize the phone with this s/w but no luck so far, even though the system finds it (see screenshot).

You kernel messages suggest you have the Allview version... Is it possible that software or partitioning differences in the default load of the Allview vs. the Blu may make a difference in whether the root apps work?

I have no way of knowing.
I sure hope the developers jump all over this phone.

So it could be too soon to assume that the current rooting apps won't work on the Blu phone just because they don't work on the Allview. That is, if Blue has their own software stack they install that is different than the Allview...
Rooting from PC failed
I now have a Windows 7 machine running so I've tried a couple of root from pc apps.
Drivers http://androidxda.com/download-gionee-usb-drivers
I installed the Gionee E8 drivers from here successfully - or so Windows said.
Root Genius v2.4.1 http://androidxda.com/download-root-genius-application
First ticked "USB debugging" under "Developer options" on phone. Ran Root Genius and it found the phone first time. Click on "Allow Computer" box that pops up on phone. Root Genius started, got to a couple of % and then crashed. Rebooted PC, clicked on "Revoke USB debugging authorisation" for a clean start and tried again. Same result; click "Allow computer", start program and crash. Tried a couple more times with same result.
iRoot v1.8.5 http://androidxda.com/download-iroot-application-all-versions
Used same procedures as with Root Genius. iRoot started, found the phone, went all the way though it's operations before reporting that rooting failed (i.e. it did not crash). Retried a couple of times with the same result.
The only plus is that the driver I used appears to be OK for Windows 7 at least (both programs found the phone).
Later I tried Kingo Root http://androidxda.com/root-android-device-using-kingo-root
It couldn't find the phone using the driver I previously used or it's own driver, although the "Allow computer" box popped up on the phone both times

Cool... It's good to test this stuff. More information is always a good thing.
BUT, since the software / partitions of the Blu Pure XL phone will almost certainly be different than the Allview phone you have your tests really don't really tell us anything about the Pure XL for certain. The hardware may be exactly the same (or there may be differences in the radios) but if the software and / or partition layout is different then what works on your phone may not work on the Pure XL and vice versa.
So I'd request that you keep posting your useful information... BUT that you clearly post that you don't actually have a Blu Pure XL but the Allview phone so you don't confuse people. Yes, they may be based on the same hardware but that does not make them exactly the same as one another. For example, there are different versions of the LG G4 and they all have pretty much the same hardware but they can't all use the same ROMS or the same rooting techniques.
So what you are posting helps because more data is better, but is not definitive for the Pure XL because your phone is NOT a Pure XL.
Thanks,
Carl

Thanks Carl, you're quite right of course. I'll check back in a couple of weeks once you guys have actually got your hands on some genuine Blu. When you do these adb tools (http://androidxda.com/download-best-android-adb-driver) and MTK Droid Tools worked v2.5.3 work on my Allview.

Please don't stop posting your test results! Just let people here know they're for the Allview and thus may not be the same as what would happen on the Pure XL. But it's also quite possible that your phone is exactly the same with the same software and layout just with cosmetic changes. We just don't know yet. It's also possible that your phone could be flashed to be exactly the same as the Pure XL even if it's not out of the box. In any case it's definitely useful information you are providing!
@xathras - Have you tried flashing SuperSU from recovery or otherwise injecting root from a recovery package?

Flashing SU from recovery fails and although I haven't tried the other option I'm fairly sure that that would fail too, due to /system being a secure read only partition. It is going to take someone with the necessary skills to extract boot.img, make the needed changes and re-packing it. I've seen a webpage for a china wholesaler for the Gionne version of this phone who offers an "unlock and root" option for $2.99 per device, so it must be doable.

Great! You were one step ahead, that was going to be my next suggestion. Now with an unlocked bootloader you should be able to make a TWRP and flash whatever you want including injecting su or flashing a completely modified ROM with root.
Posting this here so we can have a to go to thread.

Now that some of you look like your'e about to get your hands on this device I'll post a few of the resources you might need. The MediaTek X10 Helio (mt6795 based) is only now beginning to appear in phones; there is little help from devs as yet (Hey! Your'e An Early Adopter). The Gionee version has just gone on sale in India so something (in English) might appear there soon. Due to MTK devices being common in Asia you'll find a lot of help in sites there.

This tool does not work on this phone because it can't recognize the new 64-bit SOCs. I thought that when it found my phone it might work but the "TotalBytesPerChunk Not Found" error (see attached screenshot) is fatal. However, it does do one useful thing in that it displays a blocks map even thought it can't create a scatter file. I'd like to know if the Allview and Blu blocks maps match.
MTK Droid Tools is sadly no longer being maintained.
Attached files are the MTK Droid Tools screenshot (too big - had to zip it) and the Allview build.prop file. I'd be interested in seeing the Blu version.

Can we as a community keep hammering Mediatek to release the helio x10 sources so we can start porting roms to the pure xl? I'm doing my fair share of posting on their social media sites. We'll be able to get 6.0 if they post up the sources. They had them up on github but they removed them I don't know why.

This is probably where I stop being useful since I'm a "monkey see, monkey do" kind of guy as far as rom development goes, although I'm up for testing stuff.

Dude you're awesome at researching and finding useful Intel! I'm going to go over everything you've provided over course of today and tomorrow and start working on the phone. I should get it by tomorrow evening. I built my own rom before privately so hopefully I have enough know how to get Development rolling in here. I just hope I can motivate others of better skills to come over once it's proven roms can be ported over and such.

In my Allview build.prop there's a line that says "ro.gn.gnromvernumber=GiONEE ROM5.0.16". I'd be very interested in knowing what your Blu build.prop has to say.

Before anyone tells me to use the search, I already did. There is no forum for my phone specifically, and what few posts I have found that even remotely relate to my issue have been dead for over 3 months and I was not sure how you felt about resurrecting them.
Phone info: LG Venice (LG-LG730), Carrier: Boost Mobile, OS: Android 4.0.4
What I have done so far: I was on another help site(so far not so helpful) and several people have reported success in rooting their Venice following THIS tutorial. I have had no luck following said tutorial. Every time I get to the part where it shows the "restore, yes or no" part (can be found at 13:50 in the video tutorial), and when I click yes to restore, the phone says "starting restore.... restore finished" or something similar, but never actually reboots, and nothing shows up in the CMD window. Now I know that I have never set any encryption passwords, and I verified that these options were turned off in the phone settings.
I have also tried Super One Click, for what its worth, and keep getting stuck on "step 7: waiting for device"
If anyone has any information on how I can easily root this phone, I would be most appreciative. I say "easy" way because I AM totally new to rooting and I don't want mess something up. I apologize ahead of time if I posted this in the wrong area.
Thank you in advance.

FWIW I just rooted both my and my wife's LG Venice phones.
I used http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1886460 and then method 3 instead of 1 which has worked for others.
android 4.0.4
kernel 3.0.8
build IMM76L
software LG730ZV5
I did try method 1 first and it may be that the two need to be stacked for all I know at present, I will be resetting one phone to factory and trying fresh with method 3 as soon as her 8g SD is ready to go.
I've tried using different versions of Bin4ry's root and none of them work. Im running 4.0.4

On a friends phone, also a Venice (boostmobile) we had some insanity as described below.
The final root check stalled, and we finally stopped the script that was waiting for something for most of a day.
A quick check from the ADB said we had root, and I could get the # prompt and do what I wanted, see the supersu and busybox from the rooting, etc..
Two reboots later, after adding titanium backup, supersu, and stericson-busybox from the play store (or what ever the name is today) everything went swimmingly, and even the problems I had noticed with some audio and video codecs not working had resolved themselves.
I am not sure what version of the rooter from bin4ry we used on mine and my wife's, but on our friend's we used the newest at the time he downloaded which was v25
Alright, i'll try it out. Thank you
You wouldn't by chance have the file on hand would you? I can't seem to find v25

Root Issues Lg 730
:cyclops: Hi XDA... I have an issue also with the Lg730 Venice or (Sol) I have a repeat client that is always coming up with new phones, and keeps me busy rooting, custom flashing, (in general Modding) all his little toys.. I rooted his Lg 730 last yr with adb (Ubuntu12.04) by using the usual push/mount/chmod/install.. This system has worked for me many times, including but not limited to Clone S3's , Clones S2(Chinese) Droids of all flavors, yet with this New OTA 4.1.2 my client lost the previoius Root (I did not flash CustomRom at that time) . I have SERIOUSLY ,tried every method that I know of. Binary's(thanks Binary) which i have used a few times(Donator here) does not seem to work this time. GingerBreak/Psneuter/Fastboot/Rageagainsthecage/Odin/Heimdall (yes i even tried Samsung designs) Nothing works on this new OTA for me. Upgraded to RaringRingtail thinking i was out of date , to my dismay Nothing... I cannot get Root. Fastboot does not pickup device(all drivers in place(Ubuntu/Windows) My biggest challenge ever. I BOUGHT this phone (not because i like it) but for personal reasons. There is limited support for this device. I would like those who read this forum to know, that I AM going to dedicate my spare TIME on the Lg730 Venice from this day on. I have reset BoostMobile Factory settings , taken the stock boot.img , pulled the system, , rooted it, busybox'd it, with run support, zipaligned, added a couple of my favorite apk's,changed the bootanimation, zipped it,(7zip)... Essentially STOCK, with ROOT... I cannot run this on my Device(NO ROOT) but if any1 is interested its ready for flashing... I AM IN NO WAY RESPONSIBLE IF YOU BRICK YOU DEVICE... I will speak to a Moderator before i post link so as to get XDA Forum rules advice first. I take no credit , and i give it all (J.Rummy) (Chainfire)(XDA Developers)(Dsixda)(Koushik Dutta)(Exploid-Crew)for without them many things could not be possible....

I do not have it on hand, and we both semi-accidentally OTA upgraded to jellybean when the prompts got too annoying and lost root all together.
IF you manage to achieve root, best to use OTA rootkeeper BEFORE you upgrade, looks like now I have to use kdz tools and downgrade to v5, root, rootkeeper, and hope I can keep root :/

I have tried to use this page/post to root my LG 730 Venice (Android 4.1.2 Software LG 730ZV8). I have downloaded & installed everything but keep getting ERROR messages at the end. Does anyone have detailed instructions on how to install/use bin4ry v31.zip ??
I am almost sure that it would eliminate these errors. I have been using Linux now for over 10 years and this process should be child's play.
Thanks in advance for any help.
Not much info to go on Mike , but here goes, first but not least...... LG730ZV8 package is not rootable.... You need to first downgrade from the LG730ZV8 to LG730ZV5 using LG Tool 500 method... I think its an easier way using the tools but if your a DIY kinda guy , the KDZ method is a little more complex , but rewarding in the end , more so than The 500 Tool simply said , because if your a little like me, i flash many different OS's for the fun of it, and the KDZ method will truely always work when the Tool wont..... Now the KDZ method you can find Here --------------->----------->---------------------->-----------------------------------------------------> http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1287236.... If you have any problems or questions give4 a shout and i will try to guide you through it ...... Good luck Mike
Ps...... The trick to getting Binary's Root method to work is to put it on Root (c:\Binary.... etc...etc ) go to file press shift and right click to open cmd prompt... Type c:\RunMe ... Choose method #1 restore twice ,reboot 3x and Rooted..

I went into the folder that I extracted the bin4ry file download to and found two other folders:stuff and z_rootkit.. Inside the "stuff" folder I found abd.exe & dlls, busybox, fastboot, glass, install recovery, root me.tar (Linux), rootkittablet.tar.gz Linux), su and superuser.apk.. Now some of the ERROR messages had references to ABD and missing .dlls which were apparently not installed. This where I believe this prog hung up but I have no idea why.
The other folder "z_rootkit" had getroot scripts (.sh) and usbux.ab. I am guessing but I am assuming these might be needed too.
When I extracted to folder bin4ry, there were no other instructions to install from these folders.
This why I was asking for an install instruction file to get all this done.
Hope this helps in the solution !!
Hi Mike ...:cyclops: This will help you out..... You have the right package I believe.. Not sure why its giving you the dll errors... that could possibly be SDK or ADB not installed correctly via path to directory... Check it. Possibly deprecated download file. Too many too list in Windows... Gotta love Ubuntu........ Try downloading Binary's Root by Restore again... open downloads , -> drag n drop file to local c (root) set permissions-> Unzip it . open File . press shift on keyboard while also right clicking pointer, and it will bring up command prompt . Type ( .\RunMe ) in prompt...... When it opens select # (1) follow prompts to Backup---> Restore---> ADB will reboot ---once----twice and android will upgrade ... Let it finish. (3) Third reboot pull plug ---> grant permissions to Superuser or SuperSU on popup... Rooted.... I am assuming you downgraded to LG730ZV5 or LG730ZV6 already....... if there are any problems , or if you have questions let me know......
What to download ??

Please let me know where I might find everything I will need to get it done.

I wish someone would teach all the Windows people that they are dealing with a MF trash bin OS. I have been fighting Win Updates. getting MS Active Sync installed etc. I have never in my life seen such idioatic crap in my life, There HAS TO BE AN EASIER way to root an LGE 730 (Venice) phone. While not at all high end tablets, it's always fun to see what can be squeezed out of them! As stated in the title, this thread will be regarding the following devices: Nobis NB07, Iview 774TPC, and DA-741QHD (which all appear to be the same hardware) rooting and ROMs. That should be pretty simple for now since, we currently have no ROMs and no proven root method. Some have reported success using the Kingoapp. If anyone is able to obtain root, we would like to ask that you make a copy of the firmware and upload it for those of us having trouble doing so. After doing so, we can modify it and hopefully get more our of the software.
You may also post information regarding tweaking the ROMs for these devices and other ways to make them more useful!
Warning: The following may have unforseen effects including breaking your tablet to the point of being unrepairable.
Option #1, Use KingoApp Some users have reported that this did not work for them, at least one user reported that it did.
Instructions per RawX:
For the drivers the easiest method is just using Top Notch Tablets How to install ADB drivers. That worked on the first one, the second one it didn't not entirely sure why, but you can send a email to support and ask them for development drivers for the nobis tablets and they will send the ADB drivers you need. After you have the drivers installed use kingo while the tablet is in usb debug mode BEFORE plugging it into your usb port and do not turn on usb transfer. the first time after it reboots kingo will report that it was not rooted, leave it plugged in and power off and back on and it should report the root worked. This method gives you SuperSU. Both times. I've done this were for clients of mine but its pretty straight forward.

The working drivers for me were: VID_1f3a_PID_efe8
Please consider trying this first and give us some feedback. A word of warning though, there has been some discussion on XDA in the past that this may be malware though I'm not sure this was ever confirmed.
Option #2, Flash firmware for an alternate device that can be rooted easily. Warning!!! Currently, there is no way to get back to stock (until someone who gets root with another method makes a copy of the firmware)
Go to this website: http://www.iviewus.com/firmware788TPC/ and download the firmware. Yes, it is for another tablet. However, the tablet appears to have the same specs as ours. Once downloaded. Install the included PhoenixSuit software. Once it is running, click the button at the bottom right to update the software to the newest version (this may not be required). Then, plug in your tablet using the usb port and install the drivers. I used google and found them all within minutes. Once the software recognizes your tablet go to the firmware tab where you have extracted the .img file and select the file. Next, click upgrade to upgrade your tablet (it has instructions to help your tablet be recognized if you are having difficulty). Once the new firmware has been flashed, then download the file RootFromOTA.zip that can be found on various places such as XDA. Move the file onto an external SD card. Then, go to settings -> backup & reset -> Recovery Mode. Your tablet will restart. Once it does, select the bottom option to install from SD card. Install the RootFromOTA.zip and then reboot. Once rebooted, install the supersu app or another root application of your choice.
Credits: As above to RawX
Congrats... You're rooted.
Mods
Currently, I've managed to get great battery life out of my tablet by installing kernel tuner and changing the settings as such:
Governor: Ondemand (default is fantasys)
Max: 1200 MHz (Default is 1200 MHz)
Min: 240 MHz (Default is 120 MHz, but I had trouble with usability at this setting and Ondemand)
I also recommend setting wifi to turn off when the screen is off and turn off autosync.
This seemed to give me a very useable system but with greatly improved battery life. Doing the above and a few other tweaks here and there have made my battery life so that it drains by about 1% overnight when not in use. I also seem to get better battery life while using the tablet. I haven't had any trouble playing games either.

I am assuming the camera is not working using this method or did you figure it out?
And also, do you have a link to the drivers you used off hand or what did you search for to find them?

Nope, still haven't gotten the camera working. We are missing some config files still. Do you need the camera drivers or the tablet drivers?
The camera drivers are : sp2518 and sp0838, though I also see a module being loaded called cam_detect
I don't recall where I got the adb usb drivers for the tablet, but it would probably be a good thing to mention in this thread so if you have them, let me know and I can add it to one of the top posts. If you're having trouble finding them, I'll remove my drivers and go back through the process to find them again.
Looking for the tablet drivers. I am about ready to tap out on this thing for a while. lol Its driving me crazy.

OK. The drivers I used were probably: VID_1f3a_PID_efe8 (or something similar)
You can either google that or try downloading the firmware for TP718AQ here: http://www.agptek.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=22&t=948
Remove all prior drivers for the tablet. Plug it in and tell Windows to use the drivers from the extracted file you download (Will extract to TP718AQ_Update_Firmware\USB Driver).
Sometimes I have to do a little dance with restarting the device and my computer to get it to recognize it.
As a last resort you could try this: http://www.xda-developers.com/andro...r-solves-your-adb-driver-problems-on-windows/
Let me know if you have any problems.
Good Luck!
Ok, I officially give up trying to root this thing. Stupid windows will not install the drivers in both the links you provided and I cant get windows to even try to install anything after removing them then I got the android ADB drivers to install but still zero luck. All rooting apps fail. Hopefully someone will post the image of their rooted NB07. A few claim to have rooted it just fine but I cant win with this thing.
All I want is to be able to run link2sd and a few other apps that require root. This is officially the longest I have owned an un-rooted android device. lol
I'm the one that got the root working using kingo, so for the drivers the easiest method is just using Top Notch Tablets How to install ADB drivers ( I would post a link but I don't have 10 posts yet on XDA)

Well, I have decided that for now this tablet of mine is un-rootable. I must have tried with 5 or 6 different drivers about 20 times with each with Kingo. I even tried that other program that is all in Chinese that loads some BS app on to your phone with no luck. So, for now, I am going to give up but if anyone has any other ideas or wants me to try something or they have for sure figured out how to root it, let me know as I am happy to help the best I can.
Edit: Oh yeah, Dont know how much this will help anyone but here is some more specific specs on the Nobis NB07 tablet I pulled off it with Hardware Info 3.0.0. Feel free to put the link in the first or second post if you want. Maybe it will help a little bit more.

Thanks to the work of someone on another forum, I have now got TWRP working on our device and am hoping we will soon have a CM working on it as well. Check back in the near future for further details. Maybe if you can't have a rooted stock, we can get a fully functional CM.
I am assuming you need to have root to flash the TWRP recovery correct. This is good news. Would love to have more info on it. Are you working with people on this site or another site? I would love to follow along.

On another site for now. Just PM's at the moment so not much to follow yet. But, all you'll need is the Phoenixsuit to install it, so you won't have to root your tab first. You'll have root on the new ROM. You'll have to have drivers fully working though. Once fully working I'll link to the site so people can get the files and hopefully we can get this guy some donations for his work.
Awesome! I would go right to CM on this and skip the whole rooting the stock firmware. Would be nice to be able to root the stock firmware though then things would be so much easier. Think the camera will be working on the CM build? If not no big deal but would be nice to have them working.
Keep me (us) posted on the progress.

Not sure about the camera yet. I have CM booting but no touch yet, so this will be the first task. I'll keep everyone posted.
Any word on getting things to work yet?
Currently, we have CM working with no touch screen/camera. I'm not sure what else all isn't working because I'm waiting on my OTG cable to come in for further testing to see what all is going to be required to get the touchscreen going. Right now, it appears we my be looking at compiling our own drivers which could take some time to do. I think we'll get it eventually, but it may take some time. If you don't need touchscreen or camera, it could be working right now.
Sorry for no updates for a while. My work has been delayed on this since I have a son who is sick and in the pediatric ICU. I'll get back to work when things calm down for me.
No worries man. Family first.
Just a question, Hippie...
On the original ROM, can you see your device in ADB? If you can, and type "adb shell" do you get root? If you have adb access but not root, can you try typing sh and see what happens?
Also, could you try loading the rootfromOTA.zip and see if you can get a printout of the error log if possible?
Also, I tried installing this from the recovery on a similar ROM and it acted like it failed. I went back into the ROM and used adb and was able to get root using vroot or kingo...I don't remember which. This may be worth a shot.
Interestingly, I have been looking for alternative ways to root and found this (but we need to find a way to get to the bootloader):http://whiteboard.ping.se/Android/Rooting
I think that the method to get to bootloader is to turn off the tablet, then hold down the back button while tapping the power button 5 times. But, I also googled and found a method for getting to fastboot from adb in android without root as well which may work.
Hi, as someone who jumped over to Windows phone some while ago, I am now looking toward Android based again, mainly due to the fact I don't like the way windows is heading.
I have my eye on the Wileyfox swift http://wileyfox.com/ at the moment, it looks good bang for bucks and I like the fact it's UK manufactured.
I'm a little unsure when it's released as I have read some articles saying it's released today and others saying toward the end of September, I can't find it on Amazon or Ebay and the Wileyfox website although gives good information on the phones they are some what lacking in purchasing info, which I find a shame.
My other concern is there is no contact information on the website of the manufacturer, which always makes me a little uncomfortable.
Any thoughts on this phone?
Phone sites almost always wont have pricing details, because of the diff country models, and diff prices in diff places
Thank me if i helped ... ?

I went for OPO 64gb in the end. My concerns around the Wileyfox were there was no contact information on the web site, no info on release date although I did receive an email saying it had been delayed until 30 Sept, but looking at the site it's still not released, so lost some faith in them. Something didn't seem right about ordering from a company where there was no contact info for or even details on release.
Anyway, I feel I made the right decision with the OPO and am well impressed, good service from ordering direct and received quite a few extra's that I wasn't expecting ie case, screen protectors.

I just bought a Wileyfox Swift through Amazon pre-order. It came as promised and is a sweet device. It is a shame that the Wileyfox home page has no contact details. I wanted to find out how to root the device. As it's Cyanogen, I thought it would have come pre-rooted but it's not.
Also, because of delivery delays, Wileyfox offered me a year's screen replacement cover free. To avail of their kind offer I have to enter the device IMEI on Wileyfox home page but.....there's no option there....yet.
Amazon,as usual, got everything right but Wileyfox seem tardy. Maybe they'll catch up soon.
The Swift is a nice device but I want to root it. Does anyone have any information about that?
I have made a big mistake. Try to flash a new official rom somebody posted in needrom, and I got hardbrick (qhsusb_buld detect when i connect). I am asking for any kind of advice. I have found some different methods to repair it with qualcomm tools but i dont have the required files.

rooting the wileyfox swift
Hi all,
found out how to root this device!
Here the steps:
1) download supersu zip from here
https://download.chainfire.eu/696/supersu/
2) save it to your external sdcard
3) follow the steps on this site until recovery is started.
Do NOT flash the Cyanogenmod, only the recovery!!!
https://wiki.cyanogenmod.org/w/Install_CM_for_crackling
4) reboot directly into recovery. Normal system boot reinstalls stock recovery.
5) install supersu update zip from recovery menu
6) reboot and enjoy root access

It has native LED support, which actually works very well. On my Nexus 4 I used to use Lightflow, but with the Wileyfox I've not needed to use a separate app.

That's intersting. My stock recovery always complained about wrong signature of the update, so I had to use the CM recovery.
Now as I've got root I can read out the ROM. Does anybody know how to build the ROM image so that it could be flashed by recovery to restore the device?

The stock recovery does complain about the wrong signature...so I did USE the CM recover, but I did not flash it, I simply booted into it with:
Code:
fastboot boot recovery.img
This allowed me to flash without replacing the stock recovery
Hey guys, I've followed all the instructions (adb, fastboot etc, fastboot is installed and working correctly etc), but when I try installing the recovery (for cm12.1) it says the system cannot find the file specified?
Any suggestions?
Or is there any other way that I could install the recovery?
I'd really like to start using the 12.1 nightlies

Because it's CyanogenOS which has no root option. Only CyanogenMod has this option.

Hey guys, I've followed all the instructions (adb, fastboot etc, fastboot is installed and working correctly etc), but when I try installing the recovery (for cm12.1) it says the system cannot find the file specified?

What do you mean with installing the recovery? You download the recovery image to your PC and flash the img file using fastboot. Then reboot and press the power and vol- buttons together.
Any joy with SuperSU on the storm?

Thanks, Nigel and Olli_o - great work...
Has anyone been able to successfully do this on the Storm (not the swift)? If not, does anyone have any reason to believe it will/wont work?
Loving my new phone, but screwed by it not having root, and really don't want to brick it after 3 days...
TIA,

Seems that the Wileyfox Swift still has the Stagefright bug number CVE-2015-6602. Does anybody know if Wileyfox will deliver a CyanogenOS update for that?
Hello. I am the owner of an lg ls676 (Lg tribute hd). My carrier is boost mobile. I have not been able to find a successful one-click root method. And TWRP does not seem to "support" this device.
Maybe I could *port* one from a device with a similar chipset, but it seems I cannot find MY stock firmware or ROM anywhere at the moment. There is a setting under dev-options to allow my device to be OEM unlocked, so I'm not so sure if I need any codes. I have a Linux machine. I have built my own Arch Linux machine several times (Arch is awesome). I know Linux, but Android is just, something else...
I would very much like to root this device for several reasons. Also, would very much like to join this community and help.
I too am eagerly awaiting a root method! Love this phone so far. Heres the current forum i've been following, so far we have a bunch of talented people working on it! http://forum.xda-developers.com/android/help/lg-tribute-hd-ls-676-root-t3510513

I have a Wacom Cintiq Companion Hybrid ( DTH-A1300L ) android version needs help in so many ways. I bought it because I really need one for one of my jobs, yet can't really afford the crazy overpriced insanity that is a new Wacom so the reason it was so cheap was "can't connect to the Play Store. I know, hella foolish, I thought I could fix it by rooting it, but this thing is like level 10 as there is so little info as no one wanted to touch them it seems. I did find one guy on this forum that at one point rooted I am fair to average at rooting and the understanding of all that surrounds it. I have happily and successfully rooted my phones and tablet but I am no pro and fairly good at having gaping invisible holes in my info or logic when it comes to things like this.
Most frustrating is this thing is stuck on android 4 . 1 . 1 for no good reason I can imagine. It has dev tools installed after factory data reset but no google apps. (It arrived factory data reset)
I tried the relevant framework and store and the delete the cache trick to no avail. It can not update and can not even get to the Play Store.
Sooo the bad news is; no Google apps. No updates offered and stuck on some weird what looks like not stock version of 4 .1 .1 Jellybean.
When I plug it into my PC via USB it does not even show up in device manager.
The good news is I rooted it. Checked with root checker (unfortunately for now its Kingroot)
1. I have no idea how to make a back up from here. (no USB connection to PC issue)
or
2. what rom will work as my device is not listed on any of them. It would be great to find the stock rom as I am afraid this things cool and weird cintiq mode, pen function like abilities may be disabled or rendered useless with just any android rom.
Is there anyway to somehow find the stock OS on my device through boot loader? A place to find my stock or like rom. A clever work around?
Thanks in advance. for any who take up the challenge and offer any help or thoughts.
Cheers
Anyone know
What clockwork or custom recovery should I use?

Greetings and welcome to assist. If you have root yoy can try installing gapps through flashify it may work. For custom rom there is an excellent guide here

and for custom recovery an excellent guide here

Excuse my noobness. Flashify looks good, I installed it, but don't I need some image from somewhere either the stock OS or a new one for it to work? Not sure how to get Gapps from there.
It did I think, find something, a "restore kernel" and "stock recovery" I am unsure did it find my stock kernel and recovery and or ROM and I should boot from that? ( again apologies a-lot of new info and its getting a bit swirly) In otherwords since my device is not listed any where and at this point any working Android version will do, I am wrong to try and reboot from this? These devices are supposed to come stock on 4.2.2, so I am hoping perhaps incorrectly it will go back to that? That would be ideal at this point.
So I can work again whatever works.
Also I a bit concerned about the "date" I posted from on one of these. I think I posted from the Wacom. Perhaps the problem in deeper than I thought as that is Linux time 0?
I think it self corrected but originally it said I posted on Jan 1 1970...
As for custom ROM, I probably wont be able to make my own custom ROM, even though I would love to take to the time to learn, for now I have too many art and work related deadlines.
I was hoping for one that already existed that would work with my device.
Perhaps I misunderstood something about how all this works? Also I do not have Unbuntu. I should as I support an open internet, but WINE really does not run the Adobe products I need for work so
I am stuck with Windows.

If you just want to be able to install apps from the playstore then this is a simple alternative
https://www.xda-developers.com/unshackle-your-device-from-the-google-play-store-with-apkupdater/
If your phone is rooted then flashify can flash zips like gapps without the need for a custom recovery. If you are serious about trying to make your own rom/recovery then use a virtualbox in windows. http://www.osboxes.org/ has plenty of prebuilt virtual linux machines that will run on windows

I appreciate all your help. I got the "google of every kind from Gapps on has stopped" is over, which was intense as it popped up every few seconds, I somehow got that to quit by reloading the proper one from the APK Pure app which was an odd work around but nothing else was working. Still have this unsettling bare bones screen and none of the stock apps as well as it being stuck in 4.1.1. This device was made for 4.2. and I assume it was on here at one point.
I wonder if that alone could cause hardware issues. I thought about taking out the battery, until I realized that thing is inaccessible as a thing can be without wrecking the industrial glues and taking the entire thing apart which sounds
like an accident waiting to happen and possible making things worse. I imagine that is last case scenario.
Like I said I would love to make my stock reload, at this point that would be great as this thing seems unstable and no trick makes the play store work or allow me to sign into the device with my google email.
I think you are saying to make my own recovery/ROM of my own device I need to do the virtual box thing. Correct? Or is that for writing your own custom ROM? I can try that; make my own recovery that is, as it is not on CWM or TWRPs supported devices list so I have no choice and all in all would prefer the thing to load as if it was fresh out of the box not this 4.1. One serious hiccup I have found trying to use my PC is my device is not recognized as a storage device or otherwise. Not sure if this is due to the weird settings of Cintiq mode or simply because the thing is in a very weird state of 4.1.1. So that may make making changes via computer impossible. I am not the type to give up. Thanks again Saw
Here also is a sum up I added to a the just basic question of Can you find the Stock from a recovery device. Basically is there any way to return a device to stock with no ROMs available to do so, as in extract if from the device itself.
Additional backstory if helpful.
"I have a Wacom Cintiq Hybrid running Android 4.1 that is ( now ) rooted..
This is a very bad thing. The Real Stock ROM has palm rejection and all the drivers to make it work as a tool. So stock is the ideal but it is clearly not stock as my device supposedly came in the
box running 4.2 and with software and drivers to make it work properly with the pen. This has nothing. No software and the smallest amount of apps possible. Worse this is no custom ROM its on ( I think) as it would be the worst one ever and it was not rooted on arrival. I have no idea what happened before I got it. I may have made the mistake of rooting it really as I found out to my dismay there is no ROM support. So back to square one. I bought it ( very cheap for one of these ) "stuck and unable to go to the play store" and I did not realize until I got it, on a version of Android it was not meant for. Wacom is totally and woefully unhelpful in every way. They seem to want to quietly put this device behind them at the expense literally of their customers."
