Before you go through that trouble, we need to know your system version. If you're on the latest OTA, you can't root anyway.

Unless your boot loader is unlocked, you can't root .15. You could root .10.

Trying to Root/Unlock Bootloader
I'm a relative newbie to the rooting/bootloader unlocks and need some help. I'm on system version 182.46.10 XT926 Android version 4.4.2 and I have tried the towelroot/motopocolypse method only to have towelroot fail. I've tried several methods including the droid HD utilities, motochopper, but still cannot even get root, let alone unlock the bootloader. I would love to get a custom ROM on this phone and would appreciate any help.
Thanks.

There were two kernel dates, the later one couldn't be rooted. I think yours is the later kernel date. I can't remember the exact dates, but you find them with a little digging.

Thanks. And I assume I can't downgrade to the other kernel to enable rooting.

Normally, the answer would be no, but I'm not 100% positive on this one. The firmware versions are the same, so I don't know if it would flag as a downgrade. I'm sure it probably won't work, but hopefully someone with more experience will chime in.

Towelroot doesn't work anymore as it's been patched... Use CF-Autoroot, but you'll have to use USB method afaik.
one click root was easy
Towelroot is good app to root nexus 5 kitkat but for amdroid L one click aint possible
This is sad...if at all any one click root software appears let me know..thanks
Just learn to do it like everyone else, it's not exactly hard

You have a nexus device. Learn to use fastboot. Just flash twrp in fastboot then flash supersu in twrp

Towelroot on a Nexus device. Some people.. Use it on devices with locked bootloaders and all that crap, not on a Nexus 5.
Towelroot was a kernel exploit. It was patched in AOSP around 6 months ago.

You have the patience of Job. Another person would have rooted his device 2 months ago rather than wait for an update.
so everyone seems to be focusing on a way to get root without tripping knox.
what if you dont give a F about whether knox knows you are rooted?
is there an easy way to root the verizon model then?

Hello, not new to rooting at all. Just got an S6 build G920VVRU4BOK7 and apparently I can't find a way to root this device without tripping KNOX.
Can anyone point me to a thread or something where this has been discussed? (yes I searched and nothing came up)
I'm running 5.1.1
Thank you,
Cody
Not possible unfortunately. Return if you can!!!

Please share the rooting method you found that trips KNOX. I didn't think there was anyway to root G920VVRU4BOK7.
Thanks,
Mike
What phone currently available for Verizon network IS rootable?
Any of the Note variants?
Any Nexus model?
I don't mean it has to be purchased at Verizon just capable of running on the network.

Looks like $549 is the price I'm finding for the 64 gb (in the US) have you found it for less?
The title and OP in this thread - http://forum.xda-developers.com/verizon-galaxy-s6/general/root-list-root-apps-t3106204 - reads as if rooting the phone is possible.
That said it doesn't detail how to root and none of the other threads seem to indicate it either. Last I checked rooting the S6 was not readily possible, especially if you care about not tripping Knox.

Yes, firmware versions OE2 and below can be rooted. The OP is talking about version G920VVRU4BOK7 which cannot be rooted. There is currently no rooting method available whether it trips KNOX or not.

Would this method work for obtaining root?

No.
Verizon locks their bootloaders preventing us from flashing modified kernels. Plus twrp isn't available for Verizon Galaxy S6.
Any way of Odining back to OE2 from BOK7?

I wasn't sure what forum to post this in. I want to purchase an XT1030 that's been rooted. I really like this phone, but it could improve so much with the addition of Lollipop or Marshmellow. LMK if you're selling one.
Thanks.
I have one, pm me plz:❩

Rooted? You need unlocked bootloader for custom ROM.
There's a root, w/o writeable root for the Mini with SU6-7 - 6.7.3 (but not 6-7.7).

You're right. That's what I meant, an unlocked bootloader. I *had* a SU6-7.3 phone, but my butt accidently clicked the update software button and now i'm on 7.7 . I'm looking to run custom ROMs in particular, not just the non-writeable kind.
