So: if I unlock the BL and flash CM11, then (if needed) go back to the stock rom and lock the BL, will I receive OTA updates straight from Moto like nothing happened?

Yes you will. And it's not necessary to lock BL. You are still able to get ota with unlocked BL.
the following things deny ota:
Custom recovery (cwm, twrp etc$
Any patches or mods you flashed through recovery
Deleting or changing system files
Many thanks. No reason not to try CM on falcon now!

With am unlocked bootloader.... Flash an insecure kernel.
Having an unlocked bootloader is the easiest way to root, but not always the best....

Thank you for the answer. I was looking for such a kernel and I did not find any, maybe you can give me a link please. So after I flash that kernel, with Flashtool, what do I do next?
Look in the dev section. There are loads of them. Just flash it. You will have root

Ok, I looked, I found AndroPlusKernel.
But someone in that thread asked if he needs root to flash that kernel.
The reply was : YES.
So which is it? I want to root the phone, If I flash that how is my phone rooted, how can I flash a custom recovery?
You do not need root to flash a custom kernel, you need an unlocked bootloader.
On Xperia devices generally a custom recovery is in the custom kernel you flash.

Ok, I have installed a kernel with TWRP included, all good until I installed Xposed for Lollipop, that alpha version, now everytime I restart the phone I get a bootloop. The only fix is reset to factory settings, and after that the same, every time I reboot the phone I get a bootloop.
The only solution is to reflash a ftf ?
Well, thanks for nothing, I will fix it myself.

You install an alpha version and it does not work and you blame me.
Please take some time to consider what xda is about before you start blaming others because you can't find the fix to it.

Hello !
I recently bought a used Z3 6603, and wanted to update it to lollipop.
But it seems it has a unlocked bootloader (according to service menu) and when i recieved it, it was factory reset, but some 3rd party apps were still installed.
One of them Super SU, so it was rooted.
I was told that i could update the firmware if i just used the Full Uninstall feature in Super Su, so i did that.
I still can't update using sony companion, becouse it knows the software is not the original one.
And i cant reinstall super su, its saying that there is no SU binary installed and the program cant install it.
I have flashed phones before, but it was really a long time ago, so im asking for some help to fix this.
Its running 4.4.4 build 23.0.1.A.5.77 and stock rom i think.
Please tell me what to do, and what info you might need !
I want to have the phone in lollipop, but everything stock, no root, no bootloader etc.
And somewhere I read something about DRM keys. Please help me with fixing that aswell thank you.

Ok, so they are lost even if I use the first backup that was made by the person I bought it from ?
DRM=Hardcoded=Once unlocked, always DRM free, even if you use the recovery image ?
And the rest of the questions, what am I supposed to do to get stock lollipop?
In the matter of fact it does not matter if its unlocked or locked, I just want legit lollipop, with the possibility to update regularly. (But if root is possible at the same, it can still be rooted)
Thanks for your reply !
You need the TA backup. Not system backup.
And careful not to restore some other TA.
If the previous owner backed up TA, good. If not, no chance to recover them.
Download your specific firmware in ftf format and flash it with Flashtool.
Make a clean install.
You cannot recieve OTA with an unlocked bootloader, only if you relock, but there is no point in doing that if the DRM keys are lost.
So, from where you stand, keep it rooted and unlocked, because you can do much more with it : Custom ROM' s [at the moment stock is best]...custom kernels with recovery...mods...etc.
After you flash the ftf, flash via adb a custom kernel with recovery and from recovery flash SuperSU update, as a flashable zip, that will root the phone and install SuperSU.Search also for busybox flashable zip.

Ok, I will try that then, but if I use flashtool to update to lollipop, will I still be able to root easy, or should I reinstall 4.4.4 clean, then root, fix recovery kernel and everything, and then lollipop or what goes first?
Does flash/kernel etc affect the fact that it has an unlocked bootloader ? do i need to do anything with that, or do it stay unlocked?

If you have unlocked the bootloader it is always a trivial matter to root.
Just flash an insecure kernel.
If one does not exist use [NUT]'s online kernel builder to make one with recovery incorporated in it. Its very straightforward and an automated process.
So, update using flashtool, flash your custom kernel, and you have root and recovery.

1. Sorry for my noobish question, but define insecure kernel?
2. Did I get it right? I read about ppl downgrading their phones to 4.4.4 and then installing stuff. And for me it does not matter wich version it is, becouse the unlocked bootloader makes it easy to flash, even what version you are running?

1) a rooted kernel.
2) If you have unlocked there is no need to follow any of the locked bootloader guides, they are a waste of your time. One of the points point of unlocking the phone is to easily get root. You just flash a custom kernel to gain root.
If you have a locked bootloader then you have to go through all the fuss of downgrading etc etc.... but with an unlocked bootloader its so easy and straightforward

Good luck.
1. Install and root 4.4.4(best use Kingroot 4.5.0)
2. Install Philz Touch recovery for locked bootloader http://forum.xda-developers.com/xperia-m2/general/d2303-philz-touch-recovery-6-t3047492
3. In recovery flash 18.6.A.0.175_Prerooted_DE http://www.mediafire.com/download/dfmt7bgw93z96ug/18.6.A.0.175_Prerooted_DE.zip (it should take at least 5 minutes, maybe even longer, if its done in less than that flash it again without leaving recovery or you will get bootloop), wipe cash, dalvik and data, then flash again separatly SuperSU https://download.chainfire.eu/696/SuperSU/UPDATE-SuperSU-v2.46.zip
4. Reboot system. If you stuck on xperia logo, just turn off phone using pin hole and turn on (if evereything is ok you should see "android is optimizing apps"). After boot (enable usb debugging) run RIC killer (thanks to @AleksJ) https://docs.google.com/uc?authuser=0&id=0B1k2IwBoVgfFd293MHJaUkp6Qms&export=download
5. Using Flashtool flash 18.6.A.0.175_other (this is basically original 18.6.A.0.175 firmware with system.sin and kernel.sin excluded) http://www.mediafire.com/download/0zpxxkk238ua91u/D2303_Customized_DE_Other_18.6.A.0.175.ftf with or without wiping data appslog and cashe
6. Enjoy
I did this about 5 times so far, and it works 100% if you follow the steps.
Firmware used here is clean customized DE for D2303, without any bloatware.
Backup your data, there is always chance that something will go wrong.
I hope that someone will find better and faster way fot this, but for now this is the only working way.
For those who want to make their own prerooted flashable zip:
Just download PRF creator http://forum.xda-developers.com/crossdevice-dev/sony/tool-prfcreator-easily-create-pre-t2859904 and just chose firmware file, SuperSU and check just kernel (you can also check all boxes, but thats the way i like to do because i prefer flashing rest of firmware using flashtool(everything else except system and kernel)).
Tried it half a dozen times doesn't work nothing but bootloops

Absolutely working, I only use the ric disabler, I did by myself the other process before read this thread.
Thanks a lot, thanks pressed
What's about 18.6.A.0.175_other? I'm using D2305, can i flash this file for my phone?
pueden publlicar solo el zip del root para intalarlo directamente los que tenemos el bootloader desbloqueado usando el recovery de jellybean cwm
No, do not flash that on d2305. 18.6.a.0.175_other contains everything except system.sin and kernel.sin, safer way to flash them with flashtool than using recovery, thats all.

Can i flash normal FTF with tick like this
with Lollipop "custom IT" firmware (downloaded into XperiFirm), Flashtool 0.9.19.8 give me the error "Those data will not be flashed : unit 00000907, TA unit 0000091A. Do you want to continue?" in the starting step of backup TA partition.
in internet the only resource is a XDA page into Z3 forum with the same problem and no solution.
i'm waiting for carrier customized firmware, then. but....

Yes, its easy to make prerooted firmware, download ftf of your choice, use PFR creator, add only SuperSU and check only kernel. After clashing and booting up run ric killer and then us8ng flashtool flash rest of firmware, its safer.
Install 4.4.4 I'm confused, sorry
I have to go back to version 4.4.4 because I'm on 5.1.1, I don't know how to do
That, I have to use the flashtool, which version of 4.4.4 I have to use, because I saw there is the prerooted version and its file is zip not ftf. And I'm confused, you mentioned also kingroot. I have locked bootloader and I want to root my phone, it's useless without rooting it!!!
Kingroot is the last thing you should be using to root your phone

Hi.
Just recently I rooted my Xperia z3 (D6603) and upgraded the KitKat 4.4.4 into 6.0.1 MM through AROMA (found a link on this website).
After trying to install Xposed Framework, I had to flash it through TWRP recovery, but it said that I had the wrong version (arm)
I then downloaded a different version, however now my TWRP won't launch manually or automatically ( through a reboot app).
It will just jump straight into android instead of coming up with the team win logo etc.
I am confused as to why this is happening, do I need to flash the .img of it into my phone again or is there another sure way of fixing my issue.
Any help would be very appreciated . At the moment I cannot install Xposed framework because I have to flash it via recovery and I can't get into it.
Thank you
P.S Everything else works fine, no bootloop or brick
P.S2 Rebooting to recovery through TWRP Manager didn't work either (straight into Android)
If you cant get into recovery by pressing volume down on reboot. ie when they phone turns on there will be a buzz and a green light, press vol down and it should turn purple and then go to TWRP.
If you didn't unlock the bootloader this should help you fix it.
If this doesn't happen ensure you have SuperSU and that it works ie. you're actually still rooted...
If still rooted:
Find RecRoot v4 by Wolfbreak here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/z3/general/wip-sony-android-6-0-mm-t3337357 and use it from your PC to reinstall recovery.
If this fails it means root is broken.
If root is gone you will need to downgrade again and root and update again. Make sure this time you use a pre-rooted zip or at least flash recroot (works in recovery also) straight after you flash the ROM to keep root. If you use a custom ROM they should always include root (just read the XDA page of that ROM and make sure).
If your bootloader is locked (which I'm assuming it is if you downgraded to root and upgraded after) don't mess around flashing any .img files you will likely mess things up. Recoveries on LB have to be installed carefully.
If anyone says they haven't had an issue like this with root they're probably lying. It's all part of the fun ;P
To flash xposed make sure you download the one for MM which is SDK 23. And for the architecture of the Z3 processor you need ARM. This should work fine for you.
(please correct me if I missed something or got something wrong)

Problem is that when I downloaded the SDK23 arm, it said wrong format : ARM in red and gave me an error. After that I couldn't go back to twrp no matter what I did.
- I am now back to 6.0.1 MM rooted, going to try installing Xposed again, hopefully this time nothing will go wrong
