Hi there!
We are two developers who have been following xda for a long time,
We are happy to announce a new kind of Application on Android Market and want some suggestions and testing by xda community!
This is the App's description:
Andro+ Call Backgrounder provides you an important feature that Android System lacks!
CallBackgrounder lets you put in background an incoming call simply by pressing a button!
How many times you were watching a video, playing a game or reading email/website and an Incoming call disturbed your actvity?
With CallBackgrounder you can return to the last app you were using by putting incoming call in background!
The caller will never notice about your action, the incoming call will continue in background and you will be free to carry on whatever you were doing and maybe later answer/reject.
You can find filters based on contacts and apps that let you ACTIVATE CallBackgrounder ONLY for some contacts or running apps.
New Feature: Shake Detection, if activated Popup will be displayed ONLY if you shake your phone!
DON'T FORGET to watch sample video that you can find in Android Market page! Or just go to: http://tinyurl.com/androcallbg
Click to collapse
NEW FEATURE: Tiny Layout and Shake&Background, watch them on last one screenshot or directly on Youtube: http://tinyurl.com/androcallbgnf
Now You can use non-invasive Tiny Layout on TOP of your existing CallScreen Layout! Tiny Layout is not a Popup but ONLY one button!
So what are you waiting for? Try out the app and let us know your opinions!
What's new:
What's new? Andro+ Call Backgrounder becomes Andro+ Call Manager introducing new options, now you can place your incoming call in background and/or reject your incoming call and AUTO-Recall the caller!
*) ON SALE! For limited time!
*) Version 1.6.5 solved a bug when placing in background call on some devices
*) Solved bug: no restore ringer settings on call ending, thanks to Stefan
*) New Name new functions!
*) Fixed Anonymous call bug
*) New Feature: Tiny Layout (that you can see in the second screenshot) and Shake & Background function
*) New Feature: Shake Detection, if activated Popup will be displayed ONLY if you shake your phone!

I was hoping more along the lines of being able to press the home/back button or something to put the call in the background. I like the stock slide to answer/reject calls method.

How does something like this correspond whit apps like Go Dialer ?

Thanks for replying, unfortunately Android System blocks Home Button so we can't override it!
But if you want something less intrusive you can use the "Shake Detection" function that let you activate the Popup ONLY by shaking the phone during an incoming call.
Any other feedback is appreciated.
Thanks,

Hi,
We have just tried it with Go Contacts/Dialer and with Video Caller Id
and it works great with them.
We appreciate any further opinions,
There's a way to press "home" during a call and talk to the person in the background while using your phone otherwise, similar to what the iPhone does. If it's not what the "send to background" option does, any way to add a "pick up but put in background" option?
Hello what is called that application in second screen that gives you the control over wifi etc.

Hi, its not really an app...Its sort of like a control widget hard-coded into the status bar...Most custom ROMs come with it installed...
Can you add new feature please , it's (Recall) to redial the caller
android market always gives me a hard time because in my country these apps are not available for download.
Could someone post an apk or download link plz ,thank in advance

Thanks for suggestion,
Can be good an option that allow you to have a notification (in notification bar) to recall your missed call (that you've previously placed in background) by pushing it?
Something like missed call notification but when you press it, it will re-dial your contact?
Let us know,
Thanks,

Hey folks,
Many of you have downloaded and tried Andro+ Call Backgrounder, how it worked? Did you like it?
If you write here your feedback we can improve it!
Thanks to all.
Just tried the demo and so far so good. I just have one suggestion for now. For people who want to use their own dialer to answer/reject calls, can you make the "shake detection" automatically put the call in the background? It's kind of annoying to shake the phone then have to press the background button.

We've just added this features to Andro+ Call Backgrounder,
Update is on Android Market,
more details on first page of this Thread,
I'm looking for app that would completely ignore and send specified calls to background immediately ("don't answer" mode, not "reject"), so i do not even know i've been called. No ring, no vibration, no screen wake up when phone is asleep and not a single one notification when it's awake. Is it possible with root?

Seems possible, however, while the phone is asleep it may not be possible to check the number then background it before the screen awakes and/or rings. Backgrounding certain numbers automatically is definitely doable though.

I have the Gear 2, and there is. You just need to enable it in your Gear Manager.
Start Gear Manager, Settings > Send help message > Turn it on (at the top right) > Choose if you want it to send a photo too, or just the message.
Next, go back. Click "Manage Primary contacts", add at least one contact.
Now when you triple press the Home key, it will send a distress message (photo optional) with a link that contains your Long/Lat. It will send an updated message regularly until you cancel the distress message on your cellphone.

Hmm, There is no send help message option in my Gear Manager. There is also no manage contacts (that was there when I had the Gear 1 for like 2 days until I returned it). What version of gear manager are you using? I'm on 2.0.14041404

That is odd. I have the Gear 2.
I just checked my wife's Gear 2 Neo and she does not have that option either, yet the Gear 2 and Gear 2 Neo manual state they do.

My Gear 2 does NOT have that option either. I wish it did and would love to know why yours does. We are running the same Gear manager . My watch is model #SM-R380 Software version R380XXU0BND8
I don't have the watch yet, but the manual says not all phones support this feature:
Setting up emergency messages
Set the device to send a message to recipients in an emergency.
On the Settings screen, tap Send help message, and then drag the Send help message
switch to the right. Press the Power button three times to send an emergency message that
includes your current location.
Some mobile devices do not support this feature.
Setting up emergency contacts
You can preset contacts to send a message to in an emergency.
On the Settings screen, tap Manage Primary contacts → Create primary contact → Create
new contact or Select from contacts. You can create a new contact or select from the
contacts list.
Some mobile devices do not support this feature.
Maybe you should include the phone that you're not seeing this on.

I have the same model and version. I am glad its working on mine, but I'm curious why its not working on everyones. Are you using the Note 3 also? Maybe it had to do with the phone?
I did a little research and I think I know why some Gear 2 and Gear 2 Neo watches have the Safety Assistance option and some don't, I think it's in the phone itself. My wife is running a stock T-mobile and hers does not have the Safety Assistance option in the Gear Manager, I have the same phone but I am running a different rom and I have the option.

FWIW, I contacted Samsung support today and was initially told the Safety Assistance feature wasn't available. When I pursued the issue and asked why it was listed in the online How To guides on Samsung's website, the rep said she checked with a supervisor and the feature is only available for the S5. Kind of disappointing since I have a Note 3....also this is a pretty poor customer experience since the feature is found in their how-to guides yet it doesn't say it's only available for certain phones.

Her response is incorrect. I have a Note 3 N900T (t-mobile) running the rom listed in my signature. The rom is a Note 3 N9005 (International version of the Note 3) and I have the Safety Assistance now.
Here is a stock International version...

Now call the rep back and tell her to learn about the products that she represents
I'm sure a Dev could probably rip this out and make a patch to add it to any Note 3.

Yes you can. Go to Gear Manager, then to notifications, make sure your notifications are on by looking in the upper right hand corner. Then scroll down the app list and check WhatsApp and any other apps you want notifications up relay to your gear.
suggestion to add to the FAQ
Great FAQ - thank you.
Would you consider adding music to the faq. There are two ways to add music:
- Via the gear manager / my apps / music player / send tracks to gear, you can transfer music to the gear.
- Also you can plug the watch in to a computer using the cradle. The watch should appear as a device and you can transfer music to a music folder.
Thanks

This may be some sort of error on my part, so please bear with me. My only complaint is when using your app the Now Notifier screen seems to stick around. I do have my watch set to wake up to last screen used as that is the only way the Endomondo app is useful when running. Is there a way to turn this off.

Got it...thanks. Would it be possible in a future update to allow for the autohide timeout to be changed by the user to something shorter?
Edit: Just received an email through Nine (me email app on my phone). I got the notification through NN, replied to it with NN and the NN screen stayed on the screen until I made it go away. This is what I meant earlier. Is this something that's limited by the APIs, or is it something that can be configured to go away on its own?

What would you consider shorter? If I do it I would prefer to consolidate everything together so more like a selection between none / 5 seconds / 10 seconds / 30 seconds / 1 minute so that way there is no 2 options for the same thing, what you think?

Is the autohide for the NN screen or the notification itself. If for the notification, the choices of 5/10/20 would probably be ideal, at least to me. If it is for the NN screen, then just a standard 5 seconds would be fine. I wouldn't think you would want it to not show up as all; I mean you want your name out there and all, I get that.
By the way, did you see my edit above?

The NowNotifier screen is more for you not to leave by error the app when you don't want it because when you get to it, you are a swipe away from leaving the application.
I think I got it, the auto hide is when you receive a notification. As soon as you touch the application, the autohide stops so you can browse/read your notification. If i understand you well, you want to dismiss the application once you execute an action (like reply) is that correct?

Correct.
Well then yeah, that would have to be a new option something like "Hide application after action" and that basically wouldn't have a delay, once you click the button it hides.

I just thought of another "issue", please don't take this as nit-picking. I really do like your app.
I use the stock sleep app at night. This silences notification and keeps the screen from coming on in the middle of the night. Your app still goes off throughout the night and I never remember to turn off your app until after the first time I'm woken up by the buzzing on my wrist. Is it possible to make your app "respect" the sleep mode?
I am not a developer and only have a very generic understanding of api's and such, so this may not be feasible.
Did you email me about that before?
Yes I'm looking into it, by default I just post the messages that the phone broadcast, so I need to find out a way for me to know when the phone is in that mode to block the messages. No luck so far, but still looking into it.
I'll update the main post with a wishlist and work through it later.
No, I never emailed you... But that must mean I'm not the only one who thought of it. Thanks for starting this thread.
Yeah I got some a question about it some time ago, didn't know about that functionality so I'm looking into it. Yeah between emails and see if comments were updated, I saw a question about the application in this forum, so decided what a better place to keep all the feedback in one place.
Also at this moment I'm doing some live development, testing my encoding PC for other project so feel free to drop and keep the feedback going :good:

Here is a quick demo for the hide after action
Ok I have a list of enhancements I would love to see:
Phone app:
1- When first installed, all applications are enabled (checked) by default, it takes a while to uncheck the applications you don’t want to receive notifications from. Maybe a "check/uncheck all" button.
2- Option to receive notifications on Gear and vibrate while keeping screen off.
3- Option to not show notifications on Gear when phone is used “i.e. screen on and unlocked”.
4- Option to dismiss notification on Gear when it is dismissed from phone, and vise-versa.
5- Option for to exclude notifications from “ignored phrases”.
6- Option for “Night/Do not disturb” times.
7- Provide option for different vibration “duration” for each app
Gear app:
1- Theming option (dark background & light background)
2- “Text size option”.
3- You should queue all the notifications received.
4- Swipe right/left for next/previous notification. Swipe down to dismiss. And tap for notification text/details. Swipe up for (suggestions?)
5- After dismissing the last notification, app should go back immediately (1 sec delay?) to watchface.
And most important of all, stability, stability and stability. The problem I have seen with all the notification apps is stability and usability issues. Often they either hang, crash or stop receiving notifications for some reason or another. And that is very frustrating.
Honestly, if you want you app to be the best notification app (whether free or paid), you should look at the two other similar notification app and combine the best features with your app which I believe provides the best visual experience but lacks in features.

Thanks for the list Renegade!
You should have seen this app the first revision 2 months ago, it was as plain as it gets
Some stuff is doable, other might not, right now is limited by my limited knowledge of Android an Tizen, like you say I like to work more on stability so for me is means to add 1 or 2 new features per release.
on the note edge on caller settings i was able to disable the pop up caller id when someone called and i was in an app.
i cant find that setting on the note 5.
how can i get full screen call notifications instead of that pop up that takes like 20 percent of the screen?
thanks.

I hope the bring back the feature in MM.

I used to love that feature on my Note 3 and Note 4 --- Even the S6 Edge+ which I have now is missing that feature.
Have a great evening.

Does anyone know if Marshmallow addressed this issue?
Hey all,
For the life of me I can't get notifications to show up my lock screen. I have tried enabling it in settings but no dice. Even when I put down the notification bar on the lock screen it is still empty. Any help would be appreciated as this is getting a bit annoying.

If you have already anable lockscreen notification then you must check from general settings, apps and one by one check
the menu notification if you have anable lockscreen notification there too

Tyvm. Would you happen to know if there is any way to show all items that are currently in notification bar on my lock screen and not just newly received/unread items? I like to have access to my Play Music and Pocket Cast notification widgets all times.

I emailed Huawei Tech Support yesterday regarding this issue. I was prompted to call in to tech support for further assistance, and told by a service rep that this is a known software issue. Along with led notification light also, she then created a ticket for me... I asked her if there would be an update correcting the issue soon? She placed me on a brief hold then returned stating that; "eta should be about mid March!" ?
I refused to trouble shoot with her due to the phone surprisingly deciding to display notifications and notification light by itself!
After pressing lock button and viewing lockscreen again, NOTHING BUT DATE & TIME.... It's been intermittent ever since, although play music seems to efficiently control lock screen with image and track controls every time!

Why do they say it's a known issue when some, like me, do get notifications? Although, I do notice that I do not always get notifications from my news app, etc. But in whole, I am getting my Instagram, Snapchat, Facebook, CNN, nottifications. You are not getting anything at all in your lockscreen?
I'm using the US version

Yes throughout the day I will see them, but they're inconsistent, and intermittent! For example just listening to a music app during one record I can power on screen... see title and artist... Power off screen.... 5 secs later, power on screen.... Noting! It's the same thing with messages, they should remain there "on lock screen" until they're are checked or acknowledged, via lock screen, home screen, or task bar!
US version as well, and it's same with led notification light!?

Did you make sure that those apps that you want to receive notifications from aren't set to sleep when the screen Locks?
Settings > Battery > Close app after screen lock

I appreciate it! After checking here all my apps are set to "don't close".
*Bump* Guys has this issue been consistently fixed with the latest updates? This was honestly my only legitimate knock on the Mate 9 software... Appreciate your input! Thanks!
You need to go to the themes app and enable magazine unlock in the screen lock settings. It's the one one that will allow notifications on the lock screen.

Thanks bud! Can anyone else confirm this? I sold my Mate 9, and one of the major reasons was this... Can someone please confirm this setting enables, consistent notifications on the lock screen, including video playback capabilities like Google Play Music or YouTube being screen casted? Thanks!

Confirmed from my side. Enable magazine unlock in the screen lock settings is mandatory to get notifications .

Definitely confirmed. I am using magazine unlock and constantly get lock screen notifications. Also yes to media controls for casting, music play etc. Huawei should make it clear in manual that only way to get lock screen notifications it to use magazine unlock.
Now go rebuy the Mate 9. It's an excellent phone ?

Thanks as well and... Yes Sir! ?
Guys, sorry to rehash this issue, but has anyone figured out how to ALWAYS display the notifications in the notifications tray to the lockscreen? I bought the phone again, but I'm not seeing the notifications mirrored in the unlocked phone's notification trade... Like EVERY other Android phone. Let me explain:
I get a WhatsApp message, it will show up on the lockscreen. Say I then unlock the phone, don't do ANYTHING to the WhatsApp notification. The phone locks again and this time... No notification on the lock screen, despite me not acknowledging it!
Has anyone been able to solve for me? Perhaps a other lock screen app you use maybe?
Thank you! This phone is so perfect, the software is slightly off though, but maybe you guys have this solution! ?
Same thing here, I think all you can do is wait for an update, but don't get your hopes up ...

Thank you for the input, friend. All these updates since launch, can't believe they haven't fixed something that is native across all other Android phones... I wonder if their other phones with EMUI do the same thing? Can anyone confirm?
If there really are no other options... Can you guys recommend alternative lock screen apps you may be using? I tried Flotify, but the stupid thing didn't display the Music player or YouTube casting controls on the lockscreen and the quick reply was weak... ?
Thank you!

It displays Spotify controls anyway, although a bit too big :/
Sad thing about Floatify is that the timeout of your screen is always set to 30 seconds, regardless of what you set it to in Settings - display. Until you pay for pro... Then you can change it.
I did however notice that Spotify functions without Floatify now. I'm on c432B185. I wonder if Huawei fixed it. A lot of other notifications that wouldn't display on lockscreen before works as well.

Yes Sir - YouTube casting, TuneIn Radio also work without the Flotify lockscreen, however, other notifications I have tested, Google, WhatsApp, Textra, etc... show up once, you unlock the phone, not check the notifications, come back, and it's no longer there !
I cannot believe this does not bother anyone else, other than you and I, it seems !

OH yeah. Just did notice Textra only displays once. It could be some kind of "security". :/
