[Completed] Nexus 7- Stuck In Bootloop, No Root Or Unlock - XDA Assist

I have a Nexus 7 stuck in boot loop. It was working fine until i put in on charge left the house came back an hour later and it was powered off. I switched it vack on and now i'm in this prediciment. It wasn't unlocked or rooted but developer options were invokied and i believe USB debugging was enabled.
I have tried every ADB driver, used Google SDK, Nexus Root Toolkit and all the options bar flashing a custom ROM. Which i dom't think i can do anyway as i can't unlock the bootloader. The futherst i've got is the Unlock bootloader screen which lets me select 'Yes' but when i press the pwer button it just hangs.
I would very much appreciate some advice.
Thanks in adavance

Hi and thank you for using XDA Assist
Can you specify which iteration of Nexus 7 are you using ?
Because there are two of them (2012/2013)
Thanks

Nexus 7 2nd Gen 2013
I am using the 2nd generation 2013
Thanks
Drew

Nexus 7 2nd gen stuck in boot loop
Further info.
I have got as far as fast boot connectivity using Nexus Tool Kit and it brings up the "Unlock Bootloader" screen. I select Yes and press the power button and it will just hang like that for hours if i leave it. Is there any way using recovery i can just wipe the entire device and apply some stock images. I'm really against a wall plus some of the other apps have suggested USB debugging isn't on. I'm not entirely sure either way but as i cannot get it to come on i cannot affect this. PLEASE help me as i need this device for so many reasons.
Thanks
Drew.

[Q] Nexus 5 Bootloop issue (PLEASE HELP!!)

I have a nexus 5 16gb model with an unlocked boot loader but I am NOT rooted. I was happily using it when I put it to sleep and the next time I went to use it it would not turn on. I plugged it in and put it on charge where all it does is boot loops. When it isn't plugged in it is useless. I can't access recovery because when I do it turns off again and starts to reboot. It is in a 3 second or so boot loop no matter what I do. I have a lot of files on there I need and I don't know what to do. The only thing I could think of doing was use the WugFresh nexus root toolkit and the flash stock when boot looping option but it wouldn't work because it couldn't find my devices fast boot ADB thing :/ My friend unlocked my bootlader and rooted for me but I unrooted because I didn't like it. I really need help even If i can just somehow lock the bootlader so my warranty isn't voided . Please anyone that knows anything about this give me any advice!
You should be able to get into fastboot, flash a custom recovery, and then go into that custom recovery and use adb to pull the SD card files.
Ask this question also in the nexus 5 q and a section for more help.

[Q] Nexus 5 stuck on boot loop

Hello everyone:
This is the first time I ask for help on the Nexus 5. I read the couple of post about boot loop, but they could not help me. What happened was that I was checking some link on the browser and all of the sudden the phone restarted, I saw the google logo then the four color dots and it stayed there for ever. I check for info on how to deal with the problem and tried the power button plus the volume down (-) to get into the loader. After I was on the loader I tried unsuccessfully all the different menus that come with it, i.e., Start, Reboot, Restore, Power off. The only one that produces any result is the power off with which I can just turn the device off. I have had the phone since November 2013 and it is untouched, original google phone. It updated to os 5 a few months ago and there was no problem with it. I wanted to restore it to factory settings but as mentioned before the phone will not let me in. Is there any other way I could try to access it to restore? Thanks for your help.
Do a search for nexus factory images. You'll have to unlock your boot loader and then follow the instructions on that page.

Thank you Idubs for the help, I am still reading and got stuck on the following:
I got an HP Envy 17 with windows 8.1 and I am trying to follow this instructions to get the Universal Naked Drivers install put can get this to appear:
To Install on Windows 8, you must additionally disable driver enforcement
- From the Metro Start Screen, open Settings (move your mouse to the bottom-right-corner of the screen and wait for the - -- pop-out bar to appear, then click the Gear icon).
- Click ‘More PC Settings’.
- Click ‘General’.
- Scroll down, and click ‘Restart now’ under ‘Advanced startup’.
- Wait a bit.
- Click ‘Troubleshoot’.
- Click ‘Advanced Options’
- Click ‘Windows Startup Settings’
- Click Restart.
All that is on bold can't be access. The closest I get is to Restart and the laptop restarts, which makes me loose everything and no driver can get installed.
Any suggestions?
Using Win 7 computer
After hours of no go with Win 8.1, I finally tried my old Win 7 pc. I got android sdk installed per instructions on this thread:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/google-nexus-5/general/tutorial-how-to-flash-factory-image-t2513701
I can get to the point where I type fastboot oem unlock, and the phone shows it's unlocked, then I am supposed to type fastboot reboot. The phone reboots and stays on the permanent boot loop. I waited 30 minutes and nothing. Is it something I am doing wrong or the phone is toasted? I will like to know before I send it to Google for repairs as it is not in warranty any more and they will probably charge me what the phone was worth in the begining. Any ideas?
Put it back in fastboot mode and flash the factory images using the instructions from the page where you downloaded them.

@abyss1957 what happens when you flash a kitkat rom?
Frustrated
Hi:
I did a flash-all per instructions and the phone will not accept it. I unlock the phone, at least it says so on the display, when I give it the command the first thing it does is it reboots the loader and gets locked again. From there on the whole operation fails because it says it can not write to a lock device. I am using the adb program with the windows 7 command line. I think I will let google play with it if is not to costly, anyway I have to call them tomorrow to find out what happened with the shipping labels and instructions they were going to send.

If the bootloader is re-locking itself it's a classic sign of an emmc failure. Sorry man you've done all you can. See if Google will still warranty it. Keep asking to talk to a higher level of costumer service if they say no. Sometimes they can be really generous about out of warranty phones.
Thanks all
I tried today to revive the phone again by doing it per bitdomo thread:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/goo...orial-how-to-flash-factory-images-lg-t2713833
After it got to about 6% is failed and the message was: userdata erase failed, and from there nothing happened. I guess it is really toasted. Thanks anyway for all the help all I can say is that I know today more than I did yesterday thanks to the great site. You all have a nice day.

Don't give up yet..... Look at my post http://forum.xda-developers.com/goo...p-lollipop-t3098632/post60491129#post60491129
I was in a similar situation and managed to fix my phone. Give it a try :good:
Thanks a lot eross
Thanks for the post, unfortunately I tried to flash it a couple of times after I posted my last and nothing happened. Always stuck at 6%, so I finally send it to LG for repairs. It should be back next week. Mine never allowed me to write anything to it, maybe a component bad. They send me an email with the charges for the repair but never said what was really bad with it, except that it was on a start up loop (like I didn't knew that). Anyways thanks to all for the help it was a real learning experience. :good:

N5 flashing without USB debugging enabled

Hi all,
My daughter's Nexus5 went into a loop with the power-button-stuck issue. I got it out of that loop but now it just won't finish booting. I gets to the "4 color balls" animation forever and never finishes.
I can get into the bootloader and issue the "fastboot oem unlock" command and it says unlocked, but when I reboot-bootloader it gets locked again. I tried everything i could think of, including the Nexus Tool Kit (2.05) and i was able to flash TWRP but that wouldn't finish loading either. So now I'm stuck!
I wanted to keep this one stock as I wasn't handling it on a daily basis. This goes to show that USB debugging should get checked as soon as I get phones.
Anyhow, any help would be appreciated.
Try to boot in safe mode.
Press and hold volume down when its start booting until it fully starts.

Try rootme and recoveryme tools
Just lock and unlock bootloader I think after locking and unlocking again data will be wiped
Or just install twrp or cwm recovery with recoveryme tools
Hope it works

nexus 5 boot frezz on "google"

I, my nexus won´t boot, after click to turn on, is stuck on logo of google.
I can not access to recovery mode, neither to download mode, anything..
I've tried reinstalling the rom via LG mobile support tool, but the software does not even detect the nexus, but in device manager is identified and the driver installed correctly .. I do not know what to do ..
Can someone help me?
Note: the nexus is all in stock.
Thanks for the help
Try getting into bootloader mode, turn the device off, hold the VOL- and press POWER, u should get a screen with text displaying the bootloader version, whether or not it's locked and what version it is, LG Mobile Support Tool will not work with Nexus, u need WUGZ Nexus Root Toolkit, it will do it all for u, but u need to be able to get into bootloader, or at the very least u need to have developer options enabled in the phone, if not then idk man, u need to get to bootloader and I can walk u thru the fix

I have the same issue. took phone to 4.4 and then started doing the updates and eventually it will get to freezing at the Google screen and stay there. tried to reboot and stops there. I can use the Nexus Root Toolkit and and will let it me do almost anything with it but getting the phone to boot to working order and staying there is not happening. Any help or suggestions would be appreciated,

Nexus 5 soft brick cant enter recovery mode or flash stock

Hey guys
So last night my nexus 5 restarted and got stuck on the google logo screen, and won't load past it.
When I go into the bootloader and attempt to enter recovery mode all that happens is a blank screen, with a faint backlight on.
I've tried to use nexus root toolkit and chain fire auto root, but neither of them seem to work.
With the nexus root toolkit, I tried several times using the flash stock/unroot option. It would work fine until the phone prompt titled 'unlock bootloader?' which when I chose yes would then attempt to reboot the device into bootloader mode, but all that happens is my phone will show the charging symbol. There were a few times where the bootloader would flash quickly on screen and show that it was unlocked, but then afterwards the charging symbol would show.
With Chain Fire auto root, after the phone prompt saying 'unlock bootloader' and me selecting yes, it will load the bootloader again and show that it is unlocked, after which the program gets an unknown error.
I'm a complete novice in this area so if anyone has ideas, detailed instructions would be greatly appreciated
I have a feeling its a hardware issue, but am posting just in case.
Thanks heaps for any input!
