Thank you.
I rooted to gain access to ad block for apps but now with Lollipop the app does not work. So I was thinking of going back to stock. Thanks for your hard work.
Anyone know of a good app that blocks ads?

adaway works good for me

If I used the one click root method to root my device, can I do re root doing that method again and regain twrp?

Can anyone report how the 10j update is running if it has changed anything for the better or sped up the device I know its for the stagefright patch but there is supposed to be other fixes in it also to speed up things ????

YES, if you flash this Restore Rom or any other rom just follow the right instructions about Root like if you are in 5.1.1 use the LG_LP5.1.1 One Click Root Method in This Thread (Click Here) and follow the instruction for TWRP

about speed i haven't had a performance issue at all since the first 5.1.1 update, so my device still/been snappy since then.

Okay so i updated my phone to the 10j upgrade and also re rooted. Do i need to keep the bootstack zip and the return to stock zip? or can i just delete those zip files?

No need to keep them just do a backup using TWRP to be safe in near tweaks or updates or any mess

I don't have a computer to update to 10j can I use that bootstack.zip with the debloated Rom? Basically can I use that bootstack.zip by itself to update the radio/modem/stagefright?

I tried gametheory's 10j it softbricked my device. I had to use the original LP5.1.1 to get it back. Will flashing your bootstack and v4 debloated together work? I don't have a computer to kdz my way out of it. Will flashing your bootstack put recovery back to stock?
My stock ROM backup is the original 5.0.1 firmware and updated with the LP5.1.1, anything 10j softbricks device and I need to flash the LP update to get it back.

Yes flashing Bootstack+Debloated_v4 work together ,(both are for v10j update)
What you mean anything v10j softbrick?
GT updated the v10j zip a few days ago adding the bootstack+preroot and Is that including my Stock Restore? If you go Stock Restore make sure to have the TWRP img file to flash while still in recovery cuz as soon you leave the recovery without flashing TWRP again youll loose TWRP and need PC to get back...
PS. Wipe Cache+Dalvik after flashing everything.

No, your bootloader will not be locked. There's a setting in developer options called "Enable OEM Unlock" which unlocks the bootloader. There's nothing I wrote in that post that suggests your bootloader will be locked. You will also keep root and twrp if you flash my v10J from that post.

You can flash this TWRP after going back to stock..
twrp-2.8.7.0-10j.img
Found here..
https://www.androidfilehost.com/?w=files&flid=33154
TWRP Will flash an image. Just make sure you don't reboot after flashing stock stuff stay in the recovery you won't get back into TWRP if you reboot right away. Also find the supersu zip so you can root.

total noob here
can anyone give me a step by step on how to install stock firmware on the lg ms631 without using twrp? I see threads that say use LG Flash Tool, but it says to select 'CDMA' and this is a GSM phone, so I want to make sure I won't damage it. Thanks for any help you could give me.

Follow those directions, there's nothing wrong with them.

i tried this and ended up in an lg logo bootloop....tried to go into recovery on lg h631 and my only option is a factory reset on this phone... recovery wont even come up..tried that and only get a black screen....it turns off apparently....any help?

Shutting down Repeatedly When trying to Update Marshmallow

Hi All,
I have Moto X play running on android 5.1.1 lollipop. It was rooted recently and used with cyanogen Mod 12.1 for a month. during that time i did back up of entire phone. later i restored that and at present i have been using stock Rom. Recently i got official update for Android marshmallow and i downloaded the 500+Mb file and tried to install. In that process it was going to Twrp recovery mode and not installing properly. So i did reboot system. After 5 mins i turned on mobile, it got shutdown and i again restored my backup . It was working fine. cant we update to Marshmallow with the rooted device? If so how to stop the notifications of android system updates? I tried this way but still i am getting update notification
Apps--> All---> Motorola Update services--> turned off the notification
.How to disable it so that i should not receive update notification? or any other process to upgrade to marshmallow even after rooting? Please let me know

you need stock recovery to update to OTA mm, you cannot update from TWRP. download the lollipop stock-firmware extract the recovery file and flash it, then update.
i wanted to ask that after restoring from backup you got OTA update notification ? or you downloaded the MM update from other sources?? because i thought after rooting i wont get official OTA.

if you have your backup just do a full flash on stock rom and start fresh. there's an Asian 6.0 rom (I believe it is Indian) on the x play github. then proceed with root again.

Actually i am not android developer or android related person. After i heard many things about rooting the devices. I just give it a try by watching the video in you tube. So i am not aware of the core technical terms you specified.
First rooted the mobile. before installing the cyanogen Mod 12.1, i took back up in TWRP recovery mode. i used that same backup to restore after my device got shutdown. Yes even after rooting i got the Update notification

Sir, Is it possible to unroot the rooted devices in any way? if so could you please let me know
if you want to unroot you can do it from superuser, its mentioned in the youtube video. just unroot from superuser settings.
then if you want to upgrade to marshmallow download Indian stock lollipop rom from https://github.com/motoxplay/stock. unzip it on your computer to the the folder where you kept TWRP while flashing it . you'll see a file named recovery.img.
from adb run the command
Code:
fastboot flash recovery recovery.img
i.e flash this recovery just the way you flashed TWRP.
then you can update to marshmallow.
and did disabling google play services removed your update notification???

nope no problem just flash the recovery. but before doing anything take a backup on your external sdcard twrp>>backup[look at bottom to change where to store the backup select sd card] for security if in case anything goes wrong, you can flash twrp again and restore.
and remember to select 'ALLOW OEM UNLOCK' and usb debugging options from settings>>developer options

Just follow the procedure as given in that thread and everything will be fine.
It has nothing to do with the way you rooted your phone.
If a phone has twrp installed, he has nothing to fear about upgrading to latest versions as the updates are made available on Xda in Twrp flashable zip.
So no need to format the stock firmware again and then update and then all the headache.

Sir, In your previous post you meant to say this?
1. First unroot the mobile using the super Su (settings)
2. Then flash the Stock lollipop rom mentioned in the github
3. Then update the mobile to Marshmallow
4. Then again root the device

1. correct
1.1. check oem unlock and usb debugging
1.2. Copy the original old backup which you took, to your external sdcard. [just to return to stock if anything goes wrong]
2. Just flash the recovery which is present in the lollipop rom, no need to flash the whole rom.
3. correct
4. Do NOT flash the old superuser to root. To root again follow these steps http://forum.xda-developers.com/moto-x-play/general/root-how-to-root-6-0-easly-t3277202
that other post was much easier

It will wipe system partition (all system apps and files). You can wipe system if you want to install new rom but there is no need for that. It's not recommended. Factory reset from TWRP is enough if you want to install new rom.

I got notification of a new OTA 72MB update. Any one else get it? I searched online and saw no info on it. It seems to include a new modem img. Anyone updated? Any ideas on how to make a flashable zip? I was thinking I could by simply editing the updater script of the OTA...
I have been looking for info on this as well. I don't want to lose root just to see what it is. I will wait for someone to confirm.
Here's the update file from the Metro PCS OTA and it does indeed include a new radio img...someome please make this flashable!

Installed the update and it has a newer security patch number (7/1/16) and the build number is 20c.
Do you guys think that the original Stylo will have Android N since LG supports their phones for 18 months?
Installed
I installed the update and loss root and rooting ability through king root.

There is no flashable zip. It needs to be flashable to update through TWRP.
Also, he lost root and was unable to get root back.
Another reason not to accept it. I wouldn't want to root

I've been looking at it too. I tried to flash the radio.img through fastboot but no dice. When looking at the script I noticed that it replaces quite a few files.(the OTA will overide them to change back to stock). I wonder if there's any system enhancements other than the modem)

I was on 20b rooted via the fastboot method, LGup'ed with the 20b kdz to be able to take the update, installed the 20c update, lost root, but was able to root, install flashify and then TWR recovery again via the fastboot method.

about your loss root, maybe you have slow internet connection when you updated it. sorry if i wrong bro..
MetroPCS LG stylo Android version MS63120C isn't rootable through Kingroot anymore if you take the latest update but no worries you don't need kingroot anymore. Place the TWRP recovery.img file in the same directory as ADB and Fastboot and take the SU zip file on your external SD card -Click anywhere on the blank white space in that folder - Now press your Shift key + right click your mouse - In the menu that comes up select "Open command window here" option - In the command window type "adb devices" - then go to your cell and accept the key and then type "adb reboot bootloader" - your cell should restart and you'll be in fastboot. Now in the command window type "fastboot boot recovery.img". You should now be in TWRP recovery one your cell. Now on your cell while in TWRP recovery select "Install" then navigate to your external SD card and select the SU zip file and install it. Now like myself you'll have root again. Then download and install fashify and flash the recovery.img to install twrp
If you don't have a PC to root Marshmallow on this device, you're screwed.

You can unroot and update via OTA but when you have a unlocked bootloader OTA's are always risky.
Just download latest ROM for your phone and flash it, instruction are also given and is pretty easy and safe.

No. Just start flashing according to the instruction. Root is a system level thing and does not interrupt in flashing. You have to root again after flashing unless it is a pre-rooted rom.
But as you are upgrading first flash stock motorola rom whichever is latest.

Look you can do flashing and upgrading in more than one way.
Just follow this link and do exactly what it says: If you have any question PM me, I will gladly help.
Also by flashing this way your recovery will be replaced by stock recovery and you have to reflash TWRP.
Your phone will be completely stock and all data will be erased.
Note:
Read very carefully before doing anything.
Also download correct rom for your device. The model no. should match.

LG G5 H830 10a will not update

So I'm having an issue with updating my phone.
I have tried reading all of the threads, but so many things are still a mystery and are confusing. I haven't been able to get a full understanding of all of this.
I have a LG G5 H830 10a T-Mobile variant.
I am running Android 6.0.1
I have a custom recovery of TWRP
My phone is rooted with SuperSU also.
All I want to do, is to update my phone to Nougat. What is the process I have to go through? After reading all about it, here is my assumption:
I download Flashfire and use DisableService to disable my root and SuperSu, then I run the OTA Nougat update...
That didn't work. I got an error from TWRP that said:
"unable to flash update.zip from cache/update.zip, update is meant for "h1" device, your device is an H830"
Or something along those lines.
I have a Nandroid backup, so I'm not worried if I brick or soft brick it.
Any help please?
Thanks!

You're not going to be able to update to Android N yet if you want to keep twrp and root. Only way to do it currently is if you have 100% stock phone and update via ota or using the zip file that was posted. If you don't care about root or twrp, update to 10j using the complete zip that autoprime posted and don't install SuperSU or dm-verity and let boot. You will have 100% stock and can take ota or use zip method. *** There is no current way to get root or twrp for t mobile version once on official android N yet *** So if root and twrp are important just wait until autoprime gets a chance to upload the flashable zip files for N to flash in twrp. You could also use cm or cm based Roms if you want android N, plus those are 7.1 stock is only 7.0, but if you want stock rooted just have to wait until it's released.

Ohh okay, perfect thank you!
With that in mind, I had another question..
I have an LG V20 as well.
One thing I was thinking of doing was the following:
Unlocking the bootloader, putting a custom recovery like TWRP on it.
Make a Nandroid backup.
Then root it, and then go about my business. If something like this happens again and I want to update, I can simply do a Titanium Backup go to my Nandroid backup, restore it. Then update OTA, then reroot, run titanium backup restore, and then I'll be back where I left off.
will that work?
And one last question:
How would I go back to factory settings on my LG G5?

I'm not 100% sure but I don't think that would work as once you install twrp it modifies the recovery. IMG which would cause ota to fail. But on the other hand, you could most likely do the same method as the g5 to go back to official and take ota. Flashing the complete zip (if those are being created for the v20, haven't checked that thread as I don't own that device) and not re-installing the dm-verity or SuperSU will always reinstall the original boot.img and recovery.img and be 100% official stock. Hope this helps.
