It did not fix mine. It gets all the way to the end, then gives me an error message.

That could be Oden. try a different usb port. Also try restarting your computer.

No, I was using the Samsung PST software. It downloads the software to 100%, then an error dialogue box pops up.
I have the "unknown baseband" problem, and I think it's failing right at the very end as it's trying to flash the modems.
Sorry for the multiple posts--this topic is being discussed in a lot of different threads, and I feel like I'm the only one who can't get it to work successfully.
Baseband Radio
Ok so this is a noob Q. Is the baseband what gives my charge Signal?? Ive been having problems with dropped calls and lack of network stablility would this fix it and can i upgrade to ee4, root flash roms and kernels and still keep the new baseband? Thanks...

In a nut shell, YES. Once you get yourself to an ED1 or ED2 stock or rooted state, you should then be able to accept the OTA EE4 update which will update your radio. Just make sure you are not on a custom rom when you update. So, stock rooted ED1 or ED2, then update. Just apply the OTA, then your favorite root kernel. If you want a custom rom, pick one that is made for the EE4 update. However, you will not lose the radio/baseband update as the custom roms and kernel's don't touch the radio area.
Good luck!!
Thanks youre the only who answered any of my posts...lol I was thinking maybe I had to know someone

Did you take Sim Card out? Heres i what i did.
as soon as i put the phone in download mode ( you know yellow triangle?) i inserted the battery, make sure its fully charged and make sure you take the sim card out. So i inserted the battery back in and pressed the button to start flashing the ED1 file. I tried to flash the ED2 thats on the list but that file is borken i think.
Please continue this discussion in the thread linked in Post #1 so that everything is in one place.
Hey guys,
Can't seem to find a solution to my problem. I restored my phone using LG-P999-V10f back to factory rom, unrooted my phone and now it's back to 2.2.2. I tried updating my phone, but it just tells me "Current version is the latest version."
One other annoying issue I've encountered is that when my display turns off either from inactivity or from pushing the power button once, I can't go back to the phone. Pushing the power button again just brings up a blank screen, which leads to me being forced to take out the battery and reboot.
Any idea what's going on here?
When I quit using my g2x as a daily phone I restored it back to stock and unrooted it also (was on weapon). Everyday I would check for the update and it always said current version is the latest. Basically what I'm saying is, just like the 1st time GB was rolled out ota, not everyone will receive the update.
I finally said screw it and flashed bionix reloaded 1.2.

Did you also restore the stock recovery? Without the stock recovery the OTA will not work. At least that is how I understand it.
If you want a better stock-like experience try the Weapon Rom.

Also depends on your carrier, some don't offer the OTA update.

Oh yeah thanks for pointing that out. I had restored stock recovery on mine.
I just wanted the newer baseband. But life shall go on. I suffer less phone frustration using my sgs4g as the everyday driver anyway.
just nvflash it back to 2.3.3. A lot easier but will wipe everything and make the phone entirely stock gb. Not sure if it changes baseband read through the thread and see.

Any chance you could point me to link to the file for it? Is it a "restoreable" version that looks completely factorylike? Planning to eBay this phone to the next owner.
Much appreciated.

Is that for 2.3?
ETA: NVM, it does. I'm going to give it a shot in a bit. Thanks!
Dumb question. How do I install the APX zip file in that guide???
ETA: Figured it out, didn't need to install it. Forgot that I'd already done it here.
Phone's now update to 2.3.3, stupid black screen of death that appears when I try to turn my screen on is gone!
One last question. Is 2.3.3 the most updated version of Gingerbread available? Is there a more updated version out there I should install to?
Once the baseband has been updated you can no longer use the LG Updater to update the rom as it checks the baseband. If the baseband is a later version then expected for the rom it will not update.
You need to flash CWM Recovery using NVFlash and then flash the ROM of your choice, whether it is a stock rom or a custom rom.
Hello,
I just got my replacement S3 and I rooted it with SuperSu-GS3_Debugfs and then unlocked my bootloader with the tool posted here and then I downloaded Goomanager and installed a custom recovery but it continues to boot into the Samsung recovery...? I never had this issue before.... Right after Goomanager downloaded the recovery I was able to enter custom recovery once so that I could make a backup but after I made a backup I cannot get back into custom...? Weird, maybe I am just tired but I have done this plenty of times and don't see why it's not working... This is the first replacement that I received with the newest Verizon OTA on it though... Other than that I don't see what the deal is? Thanks in advance!! I'm sure it is something simple I am missing here...
Download ez recovery and just reinstall the recovery.

I thought of that but I just don't understand why Goomanager would not do it.... I really want TWRP so that is my main goal here... You think goomanager is the culprit even though it allowed me to enter TWRP to make a backup already....?
Did it ever boot into recovery? The first time I was in cwm recovery it went then I clicked through a screen that asks you to click yes to boot into it every time. When I rebooted to recovery it took me to stock recovery. I went into rom manager and flashed it again, then made sure I chose yes on the screen that warns you that it might boot into stock recovery.

Yes I made my first backup in TWRP after I flashed it.... Now it will go straight to Samsungs recovery...
EDIT: Just tried the recovery program from the app store and it's doing the same thing....? I can get into custom recovery once and after I reboot I seem to lose it? This **** is weird!
Anybody??
What build number is it? I remember on my droid charge Samsung put a command to flash stock recovery on boot. You could just install the recovery, boot into it and immediately install a custom ROM.

Okay... So as you said earlier about your Charge, I think Verizon is getting tricky here cause I tried EVERYTHING and I had to flash a custom rom to get my custom recovery to stick on the latest build and I have never had to do that.... This has never been an issue so something has changed?? I finally got Cleanrom on it with TWRP cause I was determined not to go back to the old build! I installed TWRP again and again but it would not stick after a reboot so I just quickly flashed a rom while I was in TWRP and I'm golden now so idk what the deal was.... Verizon is a pain in my ASS!!! I never had to go through all this **** to install a rom on this device. Glad I had patience today cause I was gettin angry!! Oh well it is solved for the moment.... :victory: I am glad that at least one person tried to help me out ( kintwofan).... I thought I would have gotten more feedback but I guess that's what I get for thinkin...
Glad you got it going

Ya me too but I was kinda let down today.... Oh well, people got their own **** to deal with I guess but this was really my first time I was REALLY in need for some help and no one showed up to the party.... LOL Have a good night buddy! Thread closed!
That also happened to me.
After upgrading to latest AT&T OTA same thing happened to me.
I downloaded ROM Manager and instaled CWM recovery.
I was able to reboot in recovery once and then at boot a message would appear saying (something really fast) and then back to stock recovery.
Anyway in ROM manager it would recognize again that I had flashed the CWM recovery.
After I installed CWM touch it stop doing it. SO.
Best luck
I'm due to get my replacement tomorrow but what's funny is I ran into the same issue with my current device after I had gone back to stock and rooted again. Thinking it just has something to do with the update they pushed but ill report back tomorrow after I get it all rooted to see if I run into it again.

There is a file somewhere I'm not sure that you can delete and it should stop this. It is strange though because I don't recall this being an issue with this phone. I'll see if I can't find where that file would be.

Ya this was my first time I had ever encountered a problem and I have had 3 different refurbs.... So what they are doing is forcing the device to go into Samsung's recovery instead of your custom... But as long as you transfer a rom over the first time you boot into custom recovery and flash it your all good.... Just took me awhile to figure it out... Them bastards!! LOL
I did mine this weekend but it had been rooted prior to the OTA update, and I didnt do the update, I'm running AOKP JB..
My GFs has the update and just now I tried doin hers to put JB on it and it won't boot into CWM, just keeps goin to the Samsung recovery. I used the EZ-unlock tool v1.2, and Odin to put CWM on.
Hopefully we can get some help....

OK, HA, shoulda read some first
So if I flash a custom rom through odin I can do this? Can someone point me to somewhere there is a guide?
I'm new to this stuff, my last phone was a motorola i3. LOL
If I go thru the process and upgrade my baseband to the new one verizon just released, will I still be able to flash any rom I want once I re root the phone again???
You can flash any Verizon GS 3 ROM regardless of the baseband.

Im on a customized rom now. Do you think its best to allow my phone to take the upgrade....go back and re root real quick. and then reflash the old baseband.
Or just flash the new build and reflash the old baseband.
I heard it best to allow your phone to take the OTA from verizon, which if I do I will obviously loose root...

It depends on what you want. The rom does not change the baseband. If you want to stay on the old baseband just flash a new rom. No need to reroot and go through all that unless you just want to.

I wouldn't wait for them. I would just odin back to stock and start all over again.....it's really not that difficult. just make sure you have anything important backed up somewhere
BLK3 stock image is here http://goo.im/devs/invisiblek/i535
and the rooting guide is here http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2046439........have done this multiple times with no problems
This may be old to some who have had this device for a while now but I'm new to the s5 and I've never had this issue before. So I just recently got this device, rooted it, and used TWRP as a recovery. I flanged my rom with no problem but when I rebooted it, it went into download mode. Same thing with Philz recovery. I Odined back to stock, did the whole process again and with the same results. How can I fix this.

Trying to figure it out bro. Searched on Google and different people have different methods. I've tried them all and it doesn't work. Never had this issue before.
likely a borked recovery or rom. install a full tar.md5 via odin and should be good from there. Its the nuclear bomb method, but the other things you could do arent as likely to be as successful. You could also flash the twrp recovery img in odin and you might be back in business
