Samsung galaxy note 10.1 GT-N8010 is charging REALLY slow - Galaxy Note 10.1 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I've got samsung galaxy note 10.1 (GT-N8010). A few days ago I wanted to charge it. After a hour or two I saw that it didn't charge at all, the battery percentage was almost stuck (or it even drops down slowly). It only charges when the device is switched off (but it still takes much more time than before...). I'm using the stock charger (2,5A; I've tried with other chargers, but still the same) and the stock cable. I haven't installed any apps that could drain battery. Also no red "X" on the battery icon when charging. I've got all the updates installed (I didn't get any in the last year or even more). I'm running android 4.1.2 (branded) without any root and mods.

ofc its a rom issue as when i go back to ics the charging its ok! in jelly bean its very slow! i mean i put on charge all night and only about 20% charged! its not hardware problem, but jb issue. i just dont see anyone else here with note 10.1 complaining about this.
Don't have that problem, Only goit 3hours sleep last night and plugged in note before going to bed. Fully charged from 46% in 3 hours.... You might have a problem with your charger/cable/charging port....
If you have an S2,S3 or Note 2, or an old Gtab, the charger works for your note so you can check where the problem is....
Only charging issue I have is when I use different charger other than the original one then its slow..if I use the original one its fast

The OEM charger supplies 2 Amp hours of current to the battery. If the battery takes any more than 3.5 hours to charge the 7Ahr battery then there is something wrong with the tab or the charger.

Note takes around 5 hours to do a recharge, but if you have extention USB cable of a after market USB connector for longer length it will increase the charging time
Max charging time for me with OEM is about 3.5 hours with power saving mode on and screen off, or around 2.5-3 with the tablet OFF. Thats with a 6-9% battery remaining. Anything much more means something is eating your battery in the background while you are charging.. make sure you use OEM charger.
my charger was slow charging right from the box. They gave me a new one the next day and everything is fine now.
Thats odd. I never had any charging problems when i upgraded to jellybean. Have you compared your unit with someone who also has a note 10.1?
I picked mine up on Thursday and charged it to 100% with the supplied charger and cable, installed the 4.1 system update and used it throughout the following day watching video and general playing. I had it plugged in whilst I was using it and noticed it discharging, odd I thought as it should at least have maintained its charge but after my battery level dropped to 19% on that evening I turned it off completely and left it overnight, this morning it had only charged a further 20%. It has to be a firmware issue as its the only thing thats changed since I first charged it fully without any issues (first charge on 4.0 took approx 3 hours from unboxing).
I also have the same problem. Any solution to this?
I also want a solution to this.
I'm at wits end and feel like smashing this thing.

Power off completely while charging it will go faster.

No. Its still doesn't charge faster. Same result.
Its going back to Samsung today.
That sounds screwy... I have mine on all the time, plug into the wall and about 3 - 5 hours later its fully charged...
Might be the wall charger is the problem, Samsung may have a batch of faulty chargers....
Doubt its the charger. Because its now 100% full but still says charging, not charged like on 4.0.4.
Even my battery stats don't reset anymore.
In my opinion something happened in this OTA. Been viewing many 10.1 forums for a while now and never read anything about charging issues. Since the update, its an issue unless all of us just happened to either have faulty chargers at the same time or we all downloaded the same app at the same time which is the source of the issue. Im gonna say its not neither of those because what did happen, is we all downloaded an OTA at the same time and have since had this issue.
One thing I have noticed that works a little better for me is to do a reboot right before I throw it o the charger. I dont unlock it or anything, just keep it on the charger.
Im thinking of rooting over the weekend and trying a few different ROMs to see what happens.

Just a thought, but lots of people are complaining about this and lots of people are not experiencing a slow charge.
The update has been rolled out in many countries now - so what country are you all in and what sort of mains power do you have? Maybe it's something related to that
Shouldn't matter as the charger is the one in charge of voltage to the Note.
You can use a charger from America in Australia, UK or Europe (with an adaptor of course) and it should charge your note the same everywhere.
I have tested this by using a stepdown transformer to charge my note at 110 volts as well as the normal 240volts we use here in Australia. No difference.
I have an overseas model Note and need an adaptor to connect to the Oz mains. I also have another note bought here in Australia and it works fine using either Australian or overseas charger too at either 110V or 240V...

Are you using the original cable? I had the same problem with a 3m no-name cable I bought off ebay.

Try a different mains wall socket. This has worked for me in the past.

Try the usb connections are firmly connected
Also like a member suggested try a different power source and a non upa source is preffered
Check if you have not left any application or game running in the background

Will do that.
Thx
All of a sudden my note has become extremely slow to charge.
Tablet was off whilst charging and only managed 8% an hour. After 6 hours charging it was at 50%
What happened?
Do you have a big red x over the battery icon?

I have a feeling that the power saving mode on slows the charge down. That's the only setting I had changed recently.
Ill test tonight.
Charged overnight and battery charged less then 50%. Ive had it had on charger for hour and a half and has charged 7%. I think it was the update. Many problems for me since update, but this is the biggest one.

I had the same issue for a bit. Someone said to try disconnecting and reconnecting the usb from the power block about 4 or 5 time relatively quickly and that fixed it for them... tried it and have not had an issue since even when connected to an extension. But also make sure its firmly in.
Oh.. and do this with the note plugged into the mini end of course
I have to say that I have been very happy with the crazyondigital wall charger that was bundled with my case. I used the OEM charger for the initial charge but began using the crazyondigital charger because it's more convenient due to the fact that it's longer. It also seems to charge more qiuckly. Perhaps slow charging with the OEM charger has something to do with the USB wall wart wiring design.
I seem to have the same type of problem I had mine on charge for 2 days now I done nothing different in the way I normaly charge, I tried both having ny note off over nite and with it on both with no luck, both time my note not fully charged.
This started on Friday gone,
If this dont charge soo. I will try factory reset since thats the other option bar getting a new charger

You sould try to use the device till it dies then try to charge it again see what happens, maybe wipe battery stats if you have cwm. Also try to get one of those battery stat monitoring apps and see if its registering proper voltage and heath

Had the same problem yesterday. my note went out of energy and shut down. So, after a while I connected it with the cable to charge. And what happened? After a hole night I got only 50% -.- I was like wtf?? then I tried the galaxy s3 charger and there was a red cross on the battery icon. Then I tried the note charger, again nothing, and like the other poster said, after a few times in and out it worked again.
another one here with slow charging, this is a big problem, its so slow it means it drains when you are using the tablet when its plugged in, you should be able to use it and charge at the same time. I could understand if it didnt charge much when I was using it but to not charge at all is a real fail.
Has anyone logged this issue to samsung?
Nothing has solved this problem for me.
Taking 8 hours to charge 79% is just beyond comprehension. Can't use it plugged in as it drains anyway. I want a update asap or I'm ditching this tab.
I don't know what caused this, it was fine a few weeks after the update and suddenly crippled.

So it's not the update then? If it was fine for a few weeks and then suddenly crippled JB is not the problem.
More likely an Application is NOT properly compliant with JB and is draining battery or hogging

Nothing shows up as running and hogging the battery. It doesn't drain fast once charged. It just charges slow.

Indeed, it charges so slow it drops when you are using it plugged in, if anyone has registered their tab properly with samsung perhaps they could log a fault, I havent had chance to do this yet.
Also, has anyone tried switching back to stock to see if it resolves it?

Sudden Slow Charging

I've had my note 10.1 for over a year now and it's always done well with charging, using the OEM charger and cable. I've used several different roms and no difference in charging. I recently installed Gnabo V3 and it's been no different for over a week. Starting last night, it's charging very slowly. For instance, I was down to 21% this morning. I put it on the charger seven hours ago and it's only up to 73% now. I did install the Xposed framework yesterday but would that make such a big difference in charging?? The only module I installed was Gravitybox, and that was just to add buttons to the navigation bar. I plan to uninstall Xposed and see if it goes back to normal, but wanted to share my experience and see if others have had similar issues.

I had the same problem and I found out that my usb cable stoped working properly. Can you try using another persons usb cable or buy a new one? That fixed my problem, good luck.
change usb cable.

[Q] Phone switches off and does not start until charger plugged in.

I have been using Samsung Galaxy Grand (I9082) since over a year and now the phone switches off randomly (generally at 28% of battery remaining) and when i try to restart manually, it does not starts (and battery drops to 1 % ) until i plug in charger and within 2 minutes battery shows more than 30% charged . I have been charging the mobile from some other nokia charger. The battery graph also shows red lines. Does this indicated the battery problem or phone.
NOTE : I have done cache cleaning with fresh Android install after the problem started in order to trying to fix the problem. Below is the battery graph.

Slow Charge With Fast Charger On TouchWiz Roms

Ever since a couple months ago, my Galaxy S6 started charging slower and slower. I bought mine brand new at the beginning of this year at MetroPCS, so it's the G920T1 variant. I've been always using the same charger (the one that came with my phone) and fast charging power brick. But when I installed a battery info app, AccuBattery, I noticed that the charge was getting weaker than it was supposed to. It took me 3 hours last night to charge my phone from 15% to 100% and the charging current was at 1,000mA/h, but this was on a recent flash of the Ultimate Nougat 2.0 ROM. Before, when I was on Mac's RR, the phone would charge at 2,000mA/h and charge from 0 to 100 in 1h30m. Since "fast charging" was fast in a AOSP ROM, it drives me to believe that there is something wrong in TouchWiz ROMs, as I've tried 2 custom TouchWiz roms (one was 6.0.1 and the other was 7.0) and then Stock MetroPCS firmware, but they all didn't go over 1,000mA/h.
Is there something wrong with the charger that TouchWiz is trying to prevent harm to the phone or is it software? I can't wrap my head around this because I just flashed RR again, and it charges at 2,000mA/h
Any help or suggestions are appreciated, cheers!
