[Completed] Can I Sim Unlock a Phone By Unlocking The Bootloader?? - XDA Assist

Now a Lot of You are quick to say oh this has been addressed before and what not now ...please ....read my question before giving negative nonsensical replys.
So The Question is.
1. Will Unlocking my bootloader allow me to remove a Network/sim Lock on lets say a Blu Studio 5.0
2. If No, Then Why Not?
3. What Other Methods Can I Use to Unlock my Phone For "Free"
The Reason i'm asking is simple really, i'm From the Caribbean, and purchasing things like unlock Codes doesn't really work out well (at all)when we convert our currency into US Dollars or even worse yet english pounds.
i wanna have a solution that's free so i can help ppl out who come to me with locked phones i don't wanna purchase a box or anything cuzz it'd take like a months salary just to purchase one and then i'd have to charge ridiculous prices just to help somebody out and i dont want that.
so any methods that require no cost besides having software and a pc and an internet connection doesn't matter how much time it take (i have a lot of that )would do me just fine.
thanks in Advance to all the awesome ppl who are gonna help :good::good::good:

Hi and thank you for using XDA Assist
If you are reffering to the Carriers Locked phones you can't do anything about it.
You can't use a different SIM on it because it will simply not work.
Usually you take a phone from a carrier with a plan and a contract, so the phone cannot be touched in these terms (To use other carrier), but you can freely flash and unlock the bootloader (of course at your own risk) but this thing about changing SIM on a locked phone from what i know is not possible.

Sim locking is done in a different area than the bootloader unlocking. So while unlocking the bootloader is sometimes the first step in unlocking the sim, sometimes you can not unlock the sim even in this way. Check out the Blu Studio 5 Forums for more specific information.

iphone 5s unlock

hi i know this is kinda irrelevant but did the law passed last year really prevent ppl from making unlocking software like redsn0w, yellowsn0w, pwnage for the iphone 5s?
i dont see any available and the last update was like 3 years ago. is the iphone no longer unlockable except for the paid online services for 100-200 dollars?
thanks!

1) Software unlocked stopped working after the first couple of basebands on the iPhone 4. The baseband is basically too tightly locked for those types of hacks.
2) AFAIK it is not illegal to unlock a device.
3) This site is for Android an Windows Phone, not iOS. We don't do iOS here at all. You might check out another iPhone site for more info.
i know its android forum, i hate everything aapl so i dont wanna register there.
i think its a law:
http://www.cultofmac.com/213144/unl...king-is-still-safe-what-it-all-means-for-you/
but i didnt think that would stop anyone. i guess ur reasoning for complicated basebands makes sense.
there is just so many imei unlocks for a lot of money and if its cheap who knows if it would work..
thanks

According to that article, the law would go into effect in 9 days from today, and it's not illegal to go thru the carriers.
Software unlocks are not going to happen, other than using a SIM interposer, like R-Sim etc..
I don't know if using a SIM interposer would be illegal though, since technically you are not unlocking the phone or modifying the hardware in any way, you are only changing the way the signal goes from the SIM card to the phone, so technically you might be safe.
Practically, I don't see anyone actually getting prosecuted for "unlocking their iPhone" anyways.
But the only way right now is the a SIM interposer (check compatibility of the model and iOS version) or go thru carrier, or pay a premium price for 3rd party.
But yeah, since this forum does not cover or support iOS you're better off finding a forum that actually supports it.
yeah i understand, just fyi that article write jan 26 2013 not 14.

[Q] How do I know if my phone is locked w/o using another sim?

I'm leaving my country in a few hours and I wanna know if I'll be able to buy a sim on the place im going to and use it on my phone without it being locked.
I have a Sony Ericson xpiria x8 using custom ROM android 4.1.1, it's bootloader unlocked and rooted.
So how do I check if it's unlocked without trying to use another sim card? I don't have time to get one
If it's locked, how do I unlock it for free?
I'm sure this has been asked alot but only for it about other phone models, plus the websites that talk about this are all 100% bull**** and even paid for doing a stupid IMEI check
Great ****ing forum, it's been like 3 hours and nobody ****ing answered, also since I just made an account I have to ****ing fill the general forum with **** that doesn't belong here, this is a ****ing simple question that no one can ****ing answer or at least give some advice, there's lots and lots of help on **** that its already covered up like installing ROMs and crap which is nothing more than downloading software and following steps but when something new comes up it can't be ****ing answered
**** off

[Q] Smart phone unlocking questions

Hi my name is David and it's been a little while since I've been on xda so if I deserve flaming please guide me to the right forum to ask these types of questions.. anyway so I recently got a job at a metro pcs verified dealer near my home and I'm considered the "tech guy" just unlocking phones and repairing screens and such. My question is about unlocking though. I can unlock most devices from doing so many over time but some I completely struggle with and turn toward YouTube or Google. And I was wondering how do other shops unlock devices so quickly and with ease? Seeing as I'm the only tech guy boss wants me to get better at unlocking phones but its not very simple android unlocks are somewhat easy, root and a few other steps and it's done. But say for instance a BlackBerry torch would need an unlock code. So my question is how do you guys think other shops do it?
Ps
I have looked into the octoplus box but can't really tell how legit it is
Thanks for the help guys

OEM / bootloader unlock , we gotta standup for our selves.

Brothers, we need to standup for ourselves and stop this ***** madness.
1. I've sent Huawei many emails, it obviously didn't help.
2. If we start like a mass petition or class action or some other case together, we might stand a chance. Remember we're not the only ones with locked bootloader. / Grayed out OEM unlock in developing settings. The mate 20 pro users and possibly other models have the same issue. We have to team up.
Perhaps we can make an email format here that we copy paste and send to hauwei each of us individually. They would be spammed with say 1 million emails.
3. We have paid allot for this device , an android device should be open and customizable. There is absolutely no valid reason to lock down an android device, unless you as smartphone brand try to protect your spyware .
Anyway are you with me brothers ? Let's get the full potential for the hardware that we paid for. Huawei needs to start offering the bootloader codes again and enable OEM unlock. Period. Other resolutions are not acceptable.

I guess 99,5 % of the users don`t care about root. So it will most probably not happen. Nokia also will not provide help to unlock the bootloader as most other OEMS. Get a Samsung , Xiaomi, OnePlus or Pixel phone if you want root. You buy a phone as is, not how you want it to be.
I do not agree with your mindset. That's a typical beta give up mentality.. no offense.
Huawei used to provide the unlock service service before, and now suddenly it stopped doing so. It can't go without consequences..
I love the hardware and the big screen, there are no better alternatives at the moment.
That 99% of the people doesn't want root, it doesn't mean that the remaining 1% is wrong or need to be neglected. If 1% of the users team up we would have 200.000 plus supporters that can show their voice and that can make this happen.
I am in
Count me in too!! This insolence cannot go unpunished.
Not to play spoilsport but your suggestion would work if indeed a million people request for it. From what I understand, the Chinese version of the Huawei phones can be unlocked without issues. Only the international version has this issue. Considering that the majority of the phones sold would be Chinese (which is their main market) who are not affected and accounting for a minuscule part of the phones they sell for the global audience are that interested in rooting, getting them to do anything has a low probability. Having said that, if root is so critical for anyone, the Chinese version is always an option. Most of the issues are resolved related to the Chinese specific devices

It pains me in the heart to see where this android open community is heading. It kinda goes against my principles to pay 18 usd for an update. This is unseen with any android device I had before . Users/devs just try to help each other and make stuff public..
I hope this changes soon and that these methods are made public, instead of commercialized by 3d parties. Please correct me if i'm wrong.
P.S. MODS Please do not delete this post, It is a legitimate discussion, no need to go and censor posts on XDA, regardless of your affiliation with any third party company, users should be able to discuss their thoughts in here
Happy new ear by he way brothers and sisters!

You know, this bootloader problem is so annoying I wish XDA would ban phones on their site that do not have unlock codes available.
So is it hopeless? No bootloader unlock code anywhere?

im new i dont know what to do lol

no for real guess i have no idea how to do any of this but id like to learn. i have a couple phones to practice on but the **** aint finna do nothing if i have no idea how it all actually works and how i can apply it, again im new i dont know what to do send help
What's the issue with the couple of phones mentioned? Please clearly describe them, post screenshots if possible.
well this samsung a20 , or if we wanna get specific the SM-A205U, is locked and i had bought it via third party and they wont get back into contact with me so i can unlock it. also the other two are carrier locked but if i can just understand exactly what and how i can even use the information givin to me oin this app i can figure it out for sure.
So you want to Carrier or SIM-unlock a bunch of phones. My recommendation: Contact the affected carriers to get helped in doing so.
Negative ghost rider the A205U is completely locked out and I can't do anything with it at all because I bought it via third party on FB market place and I can't get back into contact with them, also the carrier will not unlock the other two
in all actuality tho if i could just be tought to understand the basics of using linux ill be good if you feel comfortable doing that or anyone for the fact of that matter
