i'm installing a ruu (unlocked bootloader and s on) and evertime i drag it to my sd card it says my device is missing when it clearly isnt. Help please?

I have a HTC Sensation and want to root it and put CM7 on. Do I need to unlock the bootloader with instructions from www.htcdev.com/bootloader/unlock-instructions before following VipeR's posting on rooting?

My main reason for asking is I don't want HTC to necessarily know that I unlocked it. Some of the other forum posts have folks who killed their phone. Users recommend putting it back to stock so that HTC warranty will cover repairs.
If I use HTCDev then they would know that I unlocked it (warning mentioned when you register with them).
Any way around that?

So I bricked my device over a month ago. I installed a rom from the wrong version of the hox, it wasn't the at&t variant. Then for some reason, I decided to try to flash a ruu, it finished flashing but now my phone will only go into usb interface mode on devicemanager and qhusb_

Hey guys, I'm new here, so I hope I'm posting this in the right section.
I have been following steps posted in this thread http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2609560
I managed to reach point number 8, but when I try to restart my phone, it won't show any "FOTA set of red messages" neither Badadroid logo, just regular Bada 2 gets succesfully loaded. I have no idea what am I doing wrong.
So far I have been trying 2 Roms:

With both of them I copied related zImage to phone root directory and the whole zip to root directory of SD card.

It still doesn't work, when I restart, just regular Bada loads. What should I do? Please help me, I am kind of new with this. Thank you in advance!
EDIT: OK, so I figured out that you have to hold END CALL + VOLUME UP to reach CWM. According to tutorial Badadroid logo should remain on the screen for like 5 minutes, but it's just a matter of second till I reach CWM. I installed Rom succesfully from ZIP, but when I restart the phone, it's Bada again :/

The phone is running android 4.4.2, so I went to the settings to try and do a software update, but that option is greyed out and says "Update only works in CDMA mode". And then I found this link, not sure if it helps, but can anyone help me as to how I can update my phone? Thanks "

Better to check this thread: [10-22][firmware][all stock img]all files have updated t0 4.4.4.
It also contains a video guide for how to update.
For general video tutorials check this: [HOW To Videos]Basic (HTC M8) set up and functions.

Thanks for your help, however I just have two questions.
The first one is do I need to have rooted phone in order to run an RUU?
Also, the thread you posted seems to be for stock android, which does not include the HTC Sense UI that is included in the RUU of the thread I posted?

AFAIK root is not needed. But IDK about SenseUI.
Please ask in the Q&A thread or forum I linked in my previous answer.

I rooted my HTC m8 and got s-off than I downloaded the custom rom revolution.... But I can't use my WiFi or WiFi hotspot... Every time I click on them nothing happens... Also Im trying to go to recovery mode or go to twrp
