Error in cacheupdate.zip (status 7) - Nexus 5 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hello guys,
I try to install a security update (OTA) but every time he stopped and show the informatie in the printscreen.
My phone is not rooted.
How can I solved this problem?
see below the settings and issue at my Google Nexus 5.
Many Thanks
Greetz,

Did you previously modify/add/delete files in your system partition?

No nothing Primokorn

Do you have an unlocked bootloader? If so then download the factory images and flash system.img and boot.img using fastboot.

No...van you explain how it works

Or send a link to an instruction?

Here you go: http://forum.xda-developers.com/google-nexus-5/general/tutorial-how-to-flash-factory-image-t2513701

Thanks Primokorn!

it's works

Sorry for the noob question but, what are the benefits of updating the bootloader? (besides being able to run the latest CAF Roms)

That's pretty much it. There may be the odd security fix or something here and there but they're not covered by change logs so we'll likely never know

[Q] Oneplus sideload error

Hello,
I accidentally deleted the system partition on my OPO, now I tried to install the factory FW from the official site (cyngn.com/products/oneplusone/), but every time I try to sideload the zip I get the error message "error flashing zip '/data/media/sideload.zip'".
Can someone help me fix this problem.
Thanks in advance

brick after build.prop edit

Hey there,
I've bricked my OneS after I edited my build.prop.
What I did:
One week ago, I've unlocked my phone via HTCdev and than I flashed TWRP and this rom:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/htc-one-s/development/rom-oneplus-one-stock-rom-cm11s-one-s-t2869703
Yesterday, I noticed that my computer does not find my mobile phone and adb is not working.
I thought that this is caused by the build.prop edits which I've done with the Pimp My Rom App so I deleted the modified build.prop file and added the stock file of the rom. After that I tried to restart my OneS but now only the screen htc boot animation with the red text appears and the mobile phone does not boot anymore but I have still axcess to the bootloader and the recovery. Adb doesn't work but fastboot works.
What should I do? I've found this solution: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1630459
But do you think it will work with my problem, because my adb already haven't worked before the brick.
Sorry for my bad english!
Edit: The content of the system folder is deleted
Do you haven't any ideas?:crying:
Have you tried factory reset ?

The system folder is empty, factory resets do not effect this folder so it will not change sth.

You need to provide more information. Exactly what error message are you getting when the zip install fails?

Hello and thanks for your answer.
The error message that I get is "E: Error executing updater binary in zip....." the next to this message is the path where I have the Zip for the rom in my SD card. I´m totally disoriented and I don´t know how to proceed, I appreciate any more help. Thanks in advance!!!

Ok. Are you checking the md5 after downloading the zip to ensure that it isn't corrupt? Are you wiping properly (system, data, cache, dalvik cache) before attempting the install? Since unbricking the phone have you flashed any firmware at all or is this your first attempt?

Hi again,
md5 checked, full wipe done and after unbrick phone I just flash CM12 nightly.
Also note that I flash BlissPop and Metallized Kernel and everything was ok until I decide to change the bootanmation, rbootanimation and logo. I try to flash the ROM with the zip that I use the first time and also try with a new downloaded zip.
Thanks and regards.

Ok, that information probably would have been useful in your initial post. You're messing with things that can (and obviously do) cause major problems. Flash the stock images with fastboot, see section 8 of my guide here:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2839471
After that you should be able to flash and boot a ROM again, just don't go screwing with the boot logo.

Really thanks again, I´ll check carefully your post and post the results here. Thanks.
P.S.: I never touch any bootlogo or logo again.
Hello again Heisenberg,
I follow all the steps of section 8 of your guide and I´m on CM OS 5.0.2 and an update of 598,4 MB is downloading right now, the name is Cyanogen OS YNG1TAS17L, can I install it and then flash again my BlissPop?
Really thanks for all your help.
P.S.: Are you watching Better Call Saul? xD
Hello again,
All works like a charm and I´m on BlissPop again.
Really really thanks Heisenberg, cheers.

They have an OTA somewhere on OnePlus's forums. Just Google search it. Download the .zip and install through recovery. Should work

Use Dateimanager: Android - data - com.cyngn.fota - cache
Delete this file and go to settings - about device - software update - update now
It should download update again.

I deleted the file, downloaded it again, tried to install it and it failed again showing the same message. When i navigate to the file with TWRP and manually flash it, it gives the error message in the attachment below.

Don't want be rude, but this error was asked multiple times in the past 2 weeks and there are already at least 5 threads opened with this question and exact screen. First of all, you can not OTA update with TWRP, only with Cyanogen recocery. Either that or dowload the full ROM and flash it.

All the other OTA's could update with no problem at all when I had TWRP installed. This is the first time I encountered a problem. If you think stock cyanogenmod recovery will help, how do I put it back?

Then something was wrong, cause based on that screen you are still on Android 4.4.2 (fingerprint).
It is better to flash the full ROM, not the delta: CN-12.0-YNG1TAS2I3-bacon-signed-FULL.zip
This can be flashed also from TWRP.
