How to remove supersu - Onetouch Idol 3 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hey guys,
Just bought my Alcatel idol 3 4.7 (6039Y) and I wanted to change my partition so I can have more space but when I unlocked my bootloader or maybe I did something else that I'm not aware of i installed supersu installer but I don't want to root my phone because I want to be able to do the ota update, I tried everything but I can't remove it. So I have two questions:
Is there a way to remove it?
And is that mean that my phone is rooted and that I can't install the ota update?
Thanks in advance for your help guys!

Update the supersu app from play store and from its settings choose full unroot. Your phone should be OK with the OTA but you will loose the fastboot commands.

Did you try running the motochopper or the Xperia_L_Root script again?
Delete SuperSU and maybe try again. And please tell if any errors occurred during the running of the script(s).

I did root once again using Xperia_L_Root script and before doing that I had uninstalled SuperSU.
Also, there was a problem while rooting. The script said 'Failure' somewhere but still it continued and also said the Exploits were pushed successfully

Have u tried using motochopper only?
Update SU from play store (don't open yet) and install Busybox. After installing busybox, open SU. SU will recognize busybox and install the binaries!
If this dosen't work then use motochopper again.
I just ran that script once again, it works now. Thanks
Use Backup TA

Hey Navneet thanx,,,,,, The problem is solved.... Here are the steps that i followed
uninstalled super user from my device
rooted the phone with motochooper
Installed superSu (when you root with motochopper you will already have super user installed on your device but the binaries were not installed so instead what i did was installed SuperSu of chanfire so that i will get a conflict message and the chainfire will unstall the default super user and update the binaries for me.
And Bingo! Luckily it worked...............

Welcome glad to help
Almost the same problem as above but not really
Hello guys! My name is Vlad, this is my first post here and this is my first time trying to root a phone. I got a little problem so I would really appreciate if you could guide me a bit step by step out of it.
I have a Sony Xperia L phone and I have tried to root it using an app that uses Motochopper exploit, downloaded from this link:
htt p:// ww w.4shared.com/zip/6WyYYjpCce/Xperia_L_ROOT .html
delete the spaces in order for the link to work. Sorry for not respecting the rule but there would be no other way to show what I used
It seems to work but I have an error that occurs at the end:
"Rooting phone...
This may take a few minutes.
Failure.
Cleaning up...
Exploit complete.
Press enter to reboot and exit."
I have tried the ideas mentioned until now: reboot, reinstall, update, etc. but nothing seems to work. Any idea to help me please?
P.S. I am not trying to offend anyone by saying this but if I need to use some program to install something complicate please explain me as I am a beginner into this.
Thank you!

There is no way you can get back TA partition if you lost the backup too. But its just for some warranty and DRM purposes. It shouldn't affect the user experience in general. As for Whatsapp and other updates, its completely unrelated to rooting or TA partition.

Just install the OTA and reroot afterwards. The superSU Pro app in Play has a survival mode to keep root after installing an OTA. Look here also http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2523217.
Most likely the OTA will fail due to modified reboot menu Other than that there are ways to restore root.

[Q] How to Root from unlocked phone without losing data on Mac?

HI guys,
i just recently updated my nexus to 4.3.3 and lost the 'root' capability.
My phone is unlocked at the moment and all i want to do is to root it again but i don't want to lose/refortmat any data that's already on my phone.
I read a couple of threads and couldn't find a clear info.
If possible, if you know instruction for Mac that would be excellent!
Much appreciate it in advance!

Just fastboot flash a custom recovery on your phone and then flash super su in recovery
Sent from my Nexus 5 using XDA Free mobile app
If you dont want to flash a custom recovery you can try Chainfire auto root.
If the bootloader is already unlocked (can check turning the phone with power+vol down, it will say at the bottom "LOCK STATE - unlocked") them the data won't be wiped. If you already used this method and have SuperSu, the app will be uninstalled when you use it and won't have root access, you can download it again on the play store. I also recommend you to update first to 4.4.4, (I asume you have 4.4.3 instead of 4.3.3) or you will have to repeat the procedure if you don't...
Thanks guys! i'll test it out now! *finger cross*

[Q] Does rooting affect OTA?

Hi guys,
I was wondering if rooting the phone interferes with the ability to receive OTA's?
I know OTA doesn't work with most other devices after rooting but I'm hoping it works with the OnePlus One as it comes with CM as stock rom...
Thanks!

Just got my Oneplus today. My experience through 4 updates is that SuperSU gets uninstalled, which unroots your phone. You just need to boot into TWRP and reflash SuperSU after the updates and you're rooted again.

As long as it installs the OTA I'm fine with reflashing SuperSU.
And judging from your reply TWRP also doesn't interfere with installing the OTA, great! :good:
Guess I'll be unlocking my bootloader (and having my phone wiped, damned) and rooting it.
Can't live without the Xposed Framework.
Thanks!

could of searched and found the answer... question has been asked quite a few times. also there is a setting in SuperSu to keep root in upgrades. Either way OTA or just wait for a rooted version which you probably would get faster than OTA in most cases

Its really very hard to say. Only Sony knows what they are doing. But be assured that you will receive the update and you will receive the update soon.
I reckon at least another month yet if not longer as even the z1 and z ain't been released yet or even all the z2's been updated.

With a rooted phone and a locked bootloader you most likely won't get the option to do OTA updates (directly from the phone). I don't. Still you'll get the notification about a system update available. Unless of bad bricks PC Companion will always install the latest Android version for your phone, overwriting the whole ROM (and thus the rooting). So just start it on your PC and plug the phone. It will tell you what to do. That applies to Lollipop as well as to any potential KK new update.
If the BL is unlocked you may want to lock it back first. For that you need the backup of the TA partition (which can be done only if you rooted the phone before unlocking the BL). Or best of all you can use Flashtool. It also has an option to download the last FTF (ROM) for each phone model (also different by Country, carrier, etc).
Regarding Lollipop our phone will be the last getting it. And Sony with its updates is unbelievably slow. We'll be lucky if we get it in September.

i don't think that OTA updated work at all. my phone has stock rom with no root and always had to update via PC companion.

Thank you very much for your help.
But still, I got a bit confused (sorry about that - I didn't get much from your second paragraph).
So what I need to do now is just wait until I get the notification update, then connect the device to pc, and do whatever it tells me, right? Do I have to perform a full unroot or something?

Me too.
The next update will definitely use PC Companion to perform I suppose.

The update installation, which via PC Compnion will be the full ROM, will erase the root. Because it clears and rewrites the system partition, where the rooting files are located. No need to do it in advance since PC Companion is also used to rebuild the phone. The small OTAs instead are incremental updates. If they worked root would most likely be still there after updating.

I dunno. They worked for mine before I rooted it. They became unavailable only after rooting. I am just getting the notifications, now. Which having a quota on my Internet is a pain in the arse.
I wonder if there is any FTF repository only for the OTA updates? It would be interesting to see if they get installed via Flashtool. That would save bandwidth and time.
Ota will work until you install supersu and update the binaries and kill Sony RIC. That's how I went from jb 4.3 to 18.3.1.C.1.13 kk (checked with root checker app after each ota to confirm still rooted)to get to 18.3.1.C.1.15 I flashed a pre-rooted zip as that update was pc only for some reason.

So is there a way to make the OTA working again still keeping some rooting? Like I don't know, replace the "su" binary with the old one.
