S6 Wifi Fail after Custom Rom Install
Hi guys,
I've just recently (over the weekend) installed VaderRom on my S6, but after I installed the custom ROM (not after root/kernel flash, which was a few days before) I can no longer use WiFi. The phone connects to the Wifi – not problems there, the connection is "Very Good" – but it absolutely refuses to transmit any data over the network. Every internet based app says I'm not connected to the net.
I have a G920I, which I had already updated to stock 5.1.1; Flashed the unikernel appropriate to my model (no issues), got Root, custom recovery, etc. Then, later, I decided to install VaderRom – no issues with install, and everything worked fine. Except WiFi.
Tried XtreStroLite as well, just to see if anything changed, but no joy.
Tried flashing a new bootloader and modem (currently this one: http://forum.xda-developers.com/galaxy-s6/development/guide-920i-modem-xtrestolite-support-t3154861), but no change.
Have now restored to a nandroid backup from before the custom ROM flash, but I still can't get any data over Wifi.
Soooooo............ Does anyone have any ideas? I've Googled, I've searched these forums, I've looked for the last few days for a solution, but I've not seen a single post that seems to cover this issue.
Cheers for any help!
[edit]
So I flashed the appropriate firmware from samsung-firmware.org, which has fixed my WiFi problem. So, problem fixed, but not solved. If anyone has an idea of why this happened, and how I would install a custom rom and prevent this from reoccurring, I'd be much obliged.

hi there! i am new to this forum as registered member, but i've been often here in the previous months.
now i have a problem.
i have made an s-off and installed cyanogenmod a couple of months ago. the version was definetly 7 but i can't remember which one. back then i had problems with wifi and gps, none worked, but i googled it, and found that flashing the radio via clockworkmod helps. i used one of those standard versions of radio found on cynogenmod webpage. the versions 3.35.15.31, 3.35.19.25 and 3.35.20.10
and that solution not only made wifi and gps work again, but it made gps work better, it took total of 2 minutes to find satellites and get a good fix.
but two days ago i updated my cyanogenmod to 7.1.0.1-buzz and the problem appeared again. so, ok, i'll flash the radio again.
the first problem was the clockworkmot, since i upgraded it to ver 3, but i managed to downgrade it via rom manager and install the radio drivers (not sure if "driver" is a good term for it). but it helped only partially.
so i tried all three possible radio drivers, but all i managed is to make the gps work. it works fine, but when i try to connect to a network it gets stuck at "obtaining ip address", then it says "disabled" and tries to connect once again. and that goes in circle constantly!
i tried to google it, and search in this forum and several others, but i cant find the solution. always before i install the radio drivers i wipe the dalvik cache, but that doesn't help either. i tried it via rom manager, by rebooting into clockworkmod, i even tried to reset the phone, then wiping dalvik and then flashing radio, but that doesn't help either... does anybody have any idea how to fix my broken wifi? any help would be appreciated! thanks in advance!
p.s. should you need any info regarding my phone, just ask!
still nothing? guys... please... help!

I have exactly the same thing. HELP US
Hello everyone!
I am new to these forums, and as such, glad to meet you all!
Recently, I have flashed a rom and a kernel onto my Samsung Galaxy S i9000. I am very pleased with the result although I have one problem that I came across. As you have read on the title, my WiFi is very unstable and after 2/3 minutes it disconnects and reconnects. It doesn't seem to have this problem when I'm on 3g. I've tried many things, like reconnecting the router and setting up a static ip adress. None of these seem to work, although the static ip adress somewhat prolongs the disconnections. I will get into details in a second. I also had issues with my 3g when I flashed the rom, but I was able to fix that by adding an APN settings. Maybe it has something to do with this.
The reason I am posting this in this section is because I wasn't allowed to post in the rom section so I am sorry if it's in the wrong place. Now I've looked into the other threads when I was making my topic (very handy feature btw), and I've tried replacing 3 files into my system/etc/wifi folder, although only one was present there (wpa_suplicant). Both "Twilan" and "Twilan_Firmware" were absent. Anyway, I added these 3 into the "Wifi" folder and rebooted, but the issue is still present.
Now I have a huge question mark above my head on how to fix this issue. I heard a fabric reset works but I don't want to lose the rom. So does anyone have an idea how to fix this?

Before I flashed:
Darky's Rom 10.2 extreme edition
Gingerbread 2.3.5
How I flashed:
Flashed Stock Rom over Darky's Rom.
Flashed Semaphore kernel on the stock rom.
From recovery mode, installed GalaxyDroid rom. (I just did the steps that are listed in the thread of the custom rom.)

Hi, I have vodafone 858 which I rooted with z4root installed cwm and flashed a custom rom. I have flashed a couple more different roms since then but now I seem to have an issue with the wifi on it, as I can find networks but the phone refuses to connect to them even right next to the router. I tried flashing different roms and re installing recovery via rom manager but the problem stays the same!!! wifi only works if I restore back to the gingerbread G360 rom I had on it. please help!! thanks!!
Fairly new to alot of this...please forgive me. I have scoured forums and cannot find an answer to my problem. I got a new S2 about a month ago and I rooted it no prob. When I tried to install CYM 10 (stable and nightlys) It installed but the wifi and radio are shut off. Found a rooted stock and was using it as it was better than what I had stock on the phone but not being able to do it bothered me. After many posts regarding some of these issues with other phones, I have: Updated my prl and anything else I could update successfully, tried again and same problem. I tried turning on, up, down, and everything else I could do with the settings having no wifi or data and went back to the rooted stock. I flashed a radio update sucessfully and then tried messing with Kernals. Dragonics ROM comes with a new kernal flash among many other things and I tried that, installed sucessfully but still not wifi or radio....I even tried flashing older roms and kernals and still nothing.
As of right now I am back to the rooted stock running stupid themes to make me feel like I did something. I cannot find a direct answer to this regarding my model and that I have not tried. This has become an obsession...I HAVE to make this work. Please Help me.
Again, fairly new here and to forums in general and sorry if I did any of this wrong...
Hello peoples, hoping for a little help here.
TLDR; After downgrading firmware (big mistake) from 629, i reflashed back to 629 only to discover that my wifi will either connect and work intermittently, or (as is the case ATM) my wifi will connect and immediately disconnect, everytime it connects. I would like some guidance on how to get wifi working consistently, regardless of what firmware i need to be on, or what rom I need to flash. If i can get a rom that has wifi and camera that would be a plus. I searched and found one or two threads on the issue but related to earlier OTA upgrades.
More details;
Accidentally phsically destroyed my SG S3 a week ago or so, which meant I had to go back to using my wifes Motorola Droid 2 Global
Decided that since I was stuck on Gingerbread, and that since Verizon doesnt care about D2G anymore, I was going to root and upgrade, so I started researching and experimenting. That was my first mistake
So I;
- Tried to downgrade to 2.4.330 firmware per the (wiki.cyanogenmod.org/w/Install_CM_for_droid2we) Cyanogenmod wiki instructions for droid 2 global, which "soft bricked" my device (stuck in bootloader with a "service req'd" message). From doing a bunch of searching online and reading, I'm guessing its because the phone was previously on the latest version of android pushed to the droid 2 global, namely, 4.5.629.
- I then found (rootzwiki.com/topic/23207-how-to-sbf-unbricking-root-d2g-629/"official 629 sbf) and reflashed my device with that (the link at the top of the thread)
- I dont remember everything I did next (or if i even tested wifi at that point), but i know the device booted and "looked normal". I know I then rooted with framaroot, and installed bootstrap mod (1.0.0.5), and did a bootstrap recovery (im guessing this is synonymous with installing clockwork mod??)
- Found and flashed (installed?) CM9-D2-01032013.zip (cant post links, sorry new user restriction) -- rootzwiki.com/topic/28082-d2d2gdx-cm9-build-thread/page-90
- The rom installed fine, but when I booted up, and tried to use wifi, the wifi would connect, but the internet wouldnt work (no response from any website).
- I downloaded some kind of "wizard" bootloader, that had a wifi fix (sorry I cant find the link). I rebooted into the bootloader, ran the wi-fi fix, and then rebooted. No luck (no change).
- I figured it was an issue with the ROM, so I flashed liquid_droid2we-ics-v1.62.zip
- Unfortunately, the same issue persisted.
- I then reflashed BACK to 4.5.629, using the --(cant post links apparently since im a new user) (rootzwiki.com/topic/23207-how-to-sbf-unbricking-root-d2g-629) -- "official 629 sbf"
- Wifi STILL does not work. At first it connected, and was responding, and then it stopped responding.
- Wiped cache partition
- Wiped data/factory reset
- wifi now connects, then disconnects immediately.
I'm at a loss here. I am on 4.5.629 using the official ROM, I tried a factory reset after a cache clear. I even found some suggestions about turning battery saver mode off, which I did. WTH am I doing wrong?
EDIT 9/19: Just discovered that I can connect to insecure networks just fine. I've read about changing my router settings as a possible fix, but I cant do that for any router thats not my own. In addition the wifi was working on my router before, with the same settings, so the phone broke somewhere along the way.
I was able to resolve the wifi issues I was having by simply unplugging my modem and router (though just rebooting the router would have probably fixed it). I don't know exactly what caused the issues, but it was probably multiple factors, including having a droid2 and droid2global right next to each other trying wifi, flashing multiple roms, and having dd-wrt firmware on my router (or all of the above). In anycase, doing a reboot of the router, caused wifi to work again consistently on both my droids.
