Moto X Pure And Quick Charge 2.0 Woes With 3rd Party Accessories - X Style (Pure) Accessories

Moto X Pure and Quick Charge 2.0 woes with 3rd party accessories
There are few threads around with discussions about the 2015 Moto X Pure and Quick Charge 2.0 (QC) problems with various accessories:
Anker powercore+ 10050 charging issue
Aukey Quick Charge 2.0 10400mAh Portable External Battery Fast Charger
Some people seem to have better luck in that their battery packs work with the Pure.
Since this is an important issue to me I wanted to get some more information about it. For me the most important use case is the car charger. I use my phone for navigation and a non-QC charger is not able to keep up and the phone keeps discharging while navigating.
I have the Aukey Quick Charge 2.0 30W 2 Ports USB Car Charger and it does not work with the Pure.
The symptoms are:
When I plug it in I get the splash screen for "TurboPower Connected" and the battery icon in the status bar shows the lightning bolt for charging. However if I look into the battery status screen it shows that it stops charging few seconds later. It will re-start charging few seconds later but it stops again.
I am using the included 20AWG cable but the symptoms are the same with Anker 20AWG cable and any other micro-usb cable I have tried.
The non-QC port works as expected, for 5W charge. (about 1A on 5V) but that is not enough.
I have the Anker PowerDrive+ 1 and Anker PowerCore+ 10050 on order and will experiment further and report when I get it.
Which QC2.0 charger do you have and is it working with the Pure? What cable are you using?
========================================================================
Bootup reports below that these chargers work for him for both rooted and non-rooted Pure:
Tronsmart Quad Port (4-port) 54W Rapid Car Charger
Aukey Quick Charge 2.0 18W USB Turbo Wall Charger
Aukey Quick Charge 2.0 42W 3 Ports USB Desktop Charging Station
Anker Quick Charge 2.0 18W USB Turbo USB Wall Charger
Several people below report that the
Aukey Quick Charge 2.0 36W 2 Ports USB Car charger works with the Pure. Note the difference to the Aukey 30W car charger that only has 1 Quick Charge 2.0 port.

You'll have issues with the PowerCore since its QC compatible. I just purchased a Aukey Quick Charge 2-port which is the same as the Aukey you bought but both ports are QC 2.0. Both mine and my wifes MXPE is in on the way and should be delivered tomorrow. I will have to try out the adapters and from the sounds of it, I don't think it will work.
I also purchased two Aukey QC Turbo Wall Chargers. From what I've been reading, Anything QC 2.0 is going to give the Pure an issue with charging. However, in one of the Aukey/Anker threads, an unrooted phone gave issues but when rooted, it worked fine.

I posted this is one of those threads:
So I tried this with my Aukey and interesting results. The un-rooted, stock MPX exhibits this behavior (stops charging after 10 seconds or so). But on the rooted MPX, it keeps charging with no issues. Rooted MPX, Xposed installed (Bootmanager, Apps Ops, Rootcloak). Attentive Display and wave off but everything else is normal.
For my car, I have Tronsmart 4 port QC charger (http://goo.gl/y200OR) for my car and it works with both rooted and unrooted phone.
In addition to supplied turbo charger, I have Aukey 1 port wall charger (http://goo.gl/qKq5YS), Aukey 3 port charger (http://goo.gl/rwXPkh) and Anker 1 port wall charger (http://goo.gl/3huSvk) and they all work fine with both phones.

Good to know that the Aukey 1 port wall charger works because that's what I bought for me and my wife. I don't like that they hardwired the cable to the brick. The OEM charger will be staying in the box.
It seems that wall chargers have no problems at all but external QC battery packs has issues. It could be an issue with the phone reading the power output or something.

Thank you, I'd be interested in hearing how those models work.
It is unfortunate that device that are both certified by Qualcomm to be QC2.0 compatible do not work together. Hopefully this will be handled properly by Motorola.
The behavior difference between rooted and unrooted Pure is strange but at least it gives hope that this can be fixed with a software update.

I have the Quick Charge Certified external battery packs Aunkey and Anker. they both charge for under a minute then stop charging.
Tried multiple cables,
Non Rooted

i can confirm that this one works. I have used it for my daily commutes (22-35 mins) and it still charges phone. I use these apps and processes while i drive...
waze (massive resource hog)
wifi tether (for chromecast)
cast screen (for chromecast)
4g
bluetooth (for appradio reloaded)
play music or pocketcast
appradio reloaded (uses bluetooth and gps injection from headunit)

How about this one for a single port car charger?

If you look at the post above yours, its the same product and he says it works.

For those having issues with Quick Charge battery packs...are you using the phone while the charging stops or do you have it charging with the screen off? I remember seeing an article that showed how charging actually slows down while the screen is on.
Here's the article:

My phone is rooted, if that has anything to do with it. When I connect my phone, I even get a small toast notification saying "Turbo Charger connected"... Essentially, the one mentioned in the original post.

I have exactly the same problem. It worked fine with N6, but MXP stops charging after 5 seconds with the same charger. I tried different cables and found out that some short ones from accessories like Logitech Perfomance MX or selfie stick work with slow rate. Sending back Aukey.
OEM wall charger is crazy fast. It went from 24% to 72% in less than 30min.

Thanks for the report. Mine mostly only stays charging for few seconds but sometimes it keeps going for longer (I've only tried for few minutes though).
There seems to be a consensus forming that the rooted units work better with third party power supplies. I just cannot fathom why that would be so. Certainly the firmware could configure the charger differently but why would it?

I received my Anker PowerCore+ 10050 today and I have to say the form factor of excellent. My old battery pack is 15000mAh and at least subjectively it feels more than 50% larger. If only this one had two outputs it would be a killer. I cannot speak for non-QC2.0 charging speeds though.
It also charged like a beast. I connected the Motorola 25W Quick Charge 2.0 charger to it and my Kill-A-Watt indicated ~24W output. Even taking into account a 10% inefficiencies in AD-DC and DC-DC converters that is a lot for the promised 9V / 2A input. This is for charging the battery with the Moto charger.
As for using the battery to charge my Moto X Pure the data is not consistent. At work I plugged it in using a unnamed cable and it would charge for ~10s (indicating TurboPower Connected) and then stop completely, not restarting at all.
When I got home I plugged it in using a Monoprice 1.5ft cable it keeps in charging (with "TurboPower connected") even after multiple connections and disconnections. I think more experimentation is needed.

[Q] AC + Car Charger (Quick-Charge 2.0)

Hi,
I'm in the market for dual home and car chargers.
I never knew about QuickCharge 2.0 that my Note 4 and my wife A500F is capable of, but now I see that.
I can't find any "dual" charger from known firm (Lots of at AliExpress). Is it just unavailable ?
Is there really a big difference between QC2.0 capable charger and 2.5A charger ? (saw Anker 2.4AX2 or iOttie 2.5Ax2).
Thanks!
I haven't seen a Qualcomm 2.0 Quick Charge charger that is both AC and a car charger. Getwow has both an AC wall charger and a car charger. Check Amazon. I have the Getwow AC wall charger and it works well with my Note 4.
thanks.
I'm not looking for dual as for both car/ac.
I mean dual USB port. one for home and one for car.
how important is the Quick Charge 2.0 ?
my opinion, quick charge is critical. it really works especially when your device has been drained. I doubt i would ever get another device without it. It is more important to me than wireless charge which is a convenience

[Review] Tronsmart Presto 12000mAh USB-C Fast Charging & QC3.0 Powerbank

Disclaimer: I was sent these items in exchange for an unbiased review.
Tronsmart Presto 12000mAh Powerbank
Unboxing and First look
Overview
I have been searching for a nice powerbank to charge my Nexus 6P since I bought it back in September of last year. Tronsmart finally made what everyone (in my opinion) has been looking for in a battery pack; this battery offers both QC 3.0 and Type-C fast charging due to the way it’s designed. I’ve tried a few different battery/power banks before this one for the Nexus, yet all of them that offer a Type-C port break the USB specification.
Tronsmart claims this powerbank is one of the most efficient on the market giving you the ability to maximize the power it stores to charge your phone. I haven’t tested that claim yet, but I fully intend to do so and publish my results below. I also own a 12000mAh Aukey powerbank, and a 10400mAh Choetech one as well. I do have other batteries, but their capacities aren’t similar enough to compare here.
What’s in the Box
-Tronsmart Presto 12000mAh Powerbank
-Documentation
-USB A-C charging cable with the proper 56k ohm resistor
Build & Design
In the typical Tronsmart style they have opted for a glossy plastic border alongside a matte plastic body. The plastic feels nice, and has a subtle texture on the matte section giving it a more refined feel. I appreciate how Tronsmart carried over their design language across multiple products (chargers, powerbanks etc.) which gives the end user a familiar feel to their products.
On the front of the powerbank you will find two ports; the first is your standard USB-A that offers QC 3.0, while the second only charges via USB-C fast charging. I like how they separated the circuits to offer both standards in one nicely designed battery especially for people like myself that own a Quick-Charge enabled phone (QC 1.0/2.0/3.0).
Along the side you will find a power button that turns on the battery for when you want to charge your phone(s).
Charging breakdown by port
Input (Type-C): DC:5V/3A
Output (Type-C Port): DC 5V 3.0A Max
Output (QC3.0): DC 5V-6.5V/3A 6.5V-9V/2A 9V-12V/1.5A
Summary
This has quickly become my new go to powerbank given the wide range of charging options it offers for both of my phones.
I also really appreciated the compact design, solid construction, and consistent styling offered.
I will follow up this review with a battery test to see how efficient it is while charging my Nexus 6P over USB-C and my S7 Edge via the USB-A QC 3.0 port. I’ll also add a short review of the braided USB A-C cable I was sent tomorrow.
Comparison: Tronsmart Presto vs Choetech, and Aukey Powerbanks
Tronsmart Braided USB A-C Cable
I own a ton (literally/physically) of USB A-C, C-C and MicroUSB cables given the number of phones I have. I first wanted to say how I’m impressed with the quality of this particular cable because it’s built well. I also own the I-Orange USB A-C, and C-C cables, but those are more expensive even though they are also high quality. The Tronsmart one features a nice braided nylon sleeve giving it more durability in the long run couple with nice aluminum housings for each end. The cable offers data transfer at USB 2.0 speeds (480mbs) which is perfect for the Nexus 5X/6P, or any device that doesn’t support USB 3.1 over Type-C. I have no complaints about the cable, and given how it meets the USB spec with the proper 56k ohm-m resistor you shouldn’t run into any issues.
Looks great! The main thing I'd like to know is how fast the 6P charges through the usb-c port in comparison to my oem usb-c cable & brick. So far I haven't seen a power bank that actually charges quickly through the usb-c port and this looks promising!
Is this available to buy yet:?
Sounds great... What's the dimensions and weight? Nm, here it is:
Product Dimensions 7.5 x 3.5 x 1.2 inches
Item Weight 10.7 ounces

I'm going to post some more updates to the OP this afternoon. It is available for purchase on Amazon, and other places from what I've seen, but XDA doesn't like when you post product links in the OP.
Disappointing that this is bigger than Anker's while having only 60% of the capacity.

Clearly shows QC3 charging due to the higher current, nearing 3A there. So this included-in-the-box a-c can handle more than 1.5A. Why ?
Does not indicate that 3A is reaching the 6P.
can you post a photo which indicates that close to 3A does reach the 6P.
with earlier banks there was always this doubt whether they were putting out close to 3A or 2.4A.
Went digging around for better photos that showed the specs clear and found one.
Note that it allows to charge devices ie. output using QC3 going up to 12V but will only accept 5v3A on the input. Why ?
No phone is going to require 12V on the input but a charger will certainly benefit from 12V QC3 as you can push over 20W with a suitable charger to charge it instead of 14W. Net result is your wait time to full charge of the power bank reduces by 50%.
Will this show Charging Rapidly when I plug my phone in this? Also, can I use the wall charger and C-C cable my phone came with for charging this power bank? Thanks!

I've just got mine from Amazon and can confirm that it displays CHARGING RAPIDLY. This is only displayed by using the C to C cable which is the one that came with the phone. Hope that answers your question.
I just posted a similar review of the product over on the G5 forums:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/lg-g5/accessories/tronsmart-presto-12000mah-qc3-0-usb-c-t3415369
This is more from the QC3.0 side of things as I do not have a Nexus, so it may not be as relevant to those on this thread.
One difference I believe I'm seeing between our reviews is that in charging my battery pack, it never went above 2.4/5V. It was measured using basically the same technique (USB-A multimeter plugged into a QC3 adapter, connected into a USB-A to USB-C cable, into the USB-C port of the battery). Maybe I'll try a different QC3 AC adapter.
I picked up this powerbank a couple days ago and ran a simple test to compare the charging speeds between the tronsmart powerbank and my wall charger. Both times, I ran the phone's battery down until it powered itself off before starting the test. Here are the results
Through Wall Charger (with 3rd party USB-C to C cable)
@ 15 min - 22%
@ 30 min - 42%
@ 1 hr - 80%
@ 1 hr 15 min - 91%
@ 1 hr 35 min - 100%
Through Tronsmart Powerbank (with 3rd party USB-C to C cable)
@ 15 min - 17%
@ 30 min - 38%
@ 1 hr - 76%
@ 1 hr 15 min - 90%
@ 1 hr 40 min - 100%
So far, pretty happy with the charging speed.

The USB-C port is only rated for 5V/3A, while the USB-A port is a QC 3.0 port. This is why it will quick charge my S7 Edge over the USB-A port since its using micro USB. I can post more about it when I get home from work tonight.
Didn't get a chance to post what I wanted last night because I got home late from work. I will try to do it today assuming all goes well. For those of you that are curious I managed 2.1 charges using C-C fast charging out of the battery pack resulting in a ~61% battery pack efficiency
just got this and i was not able to get charging rapidly msg on my nexus 6p when using supplied cable or my own a-c cable i purchased from google.
able to get quickcharging with a-c cable on my gf samsung galaxy s6
have not tried the c-c port charging on nexus 6p. will report back with results.
The USB-A port is a Qualcomm Quick Charge port, not a USB-PD port, so you won't get quick charging on the 6P from it.
You need the C-C cable to get quick charging on the Nexus.
Just ordered mine based on this review
I went back and used a different QC3.0 AC charger to charge this battery. This time, it was a nice Tronsmart branded one. The numbers were far better, ~15Ws, about 2.5-2.6A and 5.7V. So the charger you use to juice up the Presto will make a difference in charging times. This confirms the numbers @Pilz was getting.
I am looking for a fast battery charger for Nexus 6p, reading through this thread am I right in assuming then the only way to get a charge above 1.5ish amps is to use a USB C to C connection for the Nexus 6p when charging.

Home and car turbocharge compatible chargers.

Let's discuss what wall and car chargers you have been able to charge the phone with.
I haven't bought it yet, but the Tronsmart 33 watt dual charger for the car looks promising: https://goo.gl/a3vada
I have a Tronsmart quick charge 3.0 home charger right now, but I don't have my phone yet. When I'm able to test it, I'll let everyone know.
Of course, if you are going to use a USB A to USB C cable, make sure it isn't a cheap one. Apparently there are reports of bad cables that may short out.
A question I have is: Can we get the full use of the Turbocharge with a USB A to USB C cable? Or do we need to go straight USB C to USB C? ANSWER, according to @tea_dub84: Possible that you will need USB C to USB C cables to achieve fastest charging.

Most definitely going to need usb c to usb c for the fastest charging. With a usb a end I believe the best amp rating we can get is 2.4a but usually around 2. To turbo charge the Moto Z and for it to recognize turbo charging you need at least 5v at 3amps (15watts). The stock turbo charger outputs 5v at 5.7 amps (28.5watts). Our phones don't follow Qualcomm quick charge standards. I believe our phones follow the usb power delivery standard for charging.
I gave up looking and went to the local Verizon store. I was having an issue that the only charger that would charge my moto mod battery, Incipio, was the supplied charger with the phone.
They had usb c chargers in stock. I tested out the home charger and it turbo charged my phone then started to charge the battery mod. Then tested the usb c car charger and it turbo charged my phone then switched to charging the mod.
So needless to say I'm satisfied.

Any chargers (home and car) online that use usb-c to usb-c cables should turbo charge the phone...
NONE of them (including the VZW) will charge as fast as the one that came in the box...but they will turbo charge

First picture is using the Verizon usb c fast charger. Not bad and it did pop up saying turbo charging.
Just to compare the second photo is using the supplied charger that came with phone. Huge difference.

Any USB C to C charger will *work*, but they won't turbo charge since Motorola doesn't use QC 2 or 3. It uses the USB C charging standard with a twist. I have tried a couple chargers, and the phone will always pop up a box telling that to enable turbocharge I need to use a turbocharge charger, etc...
The Z Force charges with a 5v at 5.7a, and many chargers won't put out that much power. I've seen a lot of 3a and 5a chargers, but few 5.7a.
If you're lucky enough to have a USB C port on a PC/Mac, it will turbo charge the phone as fast as the stock charger, provided you use a good quality C to C cable. It will also let you transfer data to the phone at insane speeds.
Verizon sells TWO car chargers that are Type-C one of them states Qualcomm QC 3.0 and the other does not but both show they are rated at 5V/3A (15 watts)
Has anyone tried one with the VZ branding? If so, which model was it? SKU #TYPECPDQC3VPC or SKU #TYPECPDVPC ?
So I ended up getting the SKU #TYPECPDQC3VPC and it works fine in turbo mode. Go with that one for the car!
I picked up the following charger from amazon with a discount from snagshout.com. Seems to work as it should, have only used it twice though.
Quick Charge 3.0 Silipower 39W car charger attached 3.3ft USB-C connector for 5V 3A charging Nexus 5X/6P, HTC 10 & other Type-C Devices, QC3.0 for LG G4/G5, Galaxy S7/S6/Edge, HTC| Qualcomm Certified
I'm Brazillian and I bought the AUKEY Car Charger mentioned on the first post on Ebay and it works with Turbo Charger. I have a Moto Z Play (XT1635-02).
In Portuguese :
Sou Brasileiro e comprei o Aukey Car Charger citado no primeiro post pelo Ebay e carregou com o Turbo Charger. Tenho um Moto Z Play (XT1635-02)
I've got a Pixel charger I use at home, and a Verizon QC3/USB-PD vehicle charger
Vehicle - https://goo.gl/Pa1QWW
I bought this charger :
https://www.amazon.com/Anker-Type-C-5-Port-Charger-PowerPort/dp/B01D8C6ULO/
It works perfectly on turbo power via the usb c port.
It follows a Motorola Proprietary Power Delivery, compatible with other USB Type-C Power Delivery devices up to 5V/3A max
The Verizon TYPECPDQC3VPC, TYPECPDVPC car chargers and TYPECPDQC3TVL wall charger will charge 5V/3A. (I bought mine off ebay as Verizon/Xentris non-branded for $9 each~ YMMV)
Reference https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets...f_TX8/pubhtml#
I think most usb type-c PD chargers will "fast charge" up to 5V/3A, only the Motorola TubroPower 30 has the capability to do 5V/5.7A proprietary "turbo charge".. It was $20 shipped on Verizon 'til recently, that's where I bought mine.
I bought this charger for home, it's the verizon oem from xentris with the logo marked over. http://www.ebay.com/itm/351967678957

And does it turbo charge?

Pixel C charger

The only charger that's charging my Pixel C is the original charger that came with the device.
I have a number of other chargers here, even a QC3.0 charger, and another USB-C charger (from a Moto Z2). None of them is charging the Pixel C! They do light up the charging icon, but when I look into the battery settings, it says: 'not charging'
What are your experiences with charging the Pixel C?
i use the factory charger, the charger from my oneplus 5, and if it is connected to my pc it charges during that time. i remember using a few others also and have had no issues with any specific charge method. in fact, i am sorta surprised by the post. i know the factory charger has a built-in cable, so i might first look at the cable used with any other charger. i bought some usb-a to usb-c cables from amazon and the oneplus 5 is a good usb-a to usb-c cable.
I purchased this from amazon
Anker Quick Charge 3.0 and USB Type-C 24W USB Wall Charger, PowerPort+ 1 for Galaxy C9 Pro, Nexus, Moto and More
I think it came with a cord
Anker PowerLine+ C to C 2.0 cable (6ft), High Durability, for USB Type-C Devices Including Samsung Galaxy S8, S8+, the new MacBook, Nintendo Switch, Google Pixel, Nexus 6P, LG V20 G5 and More
this is optional.

All my chargers do that, including the original one. It takes maybe half a minute to a minute before this changes to "charging" in battery settings. So it's not a charger problem really.

well.... it once drained the battery, the screen stayed on because a charger was connected, but it did not actually charge the battery. i thought it was charging, some time later i noticed that it was not!
this and other experiments made me write this question on the forum.
update: due to a problem with the PIN I had to factory reset my Pixel C https://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=73807273&postcount=20
and ever since, different chargers NOW do charge the Pixel C!!! strange, but that's how it is now....
Sorry for resurrecting this old thread. Hopefully this may help others with this problem.
I am on my second pixel c and both had/have this problem with aftermarket chargers. For me, the problem is not that the chargers won't charge the unit, but that they won't charge the unit every time they're plugged in. My workaround is to run the ampere app and repeatedly plug the charger into the unit until it shows it charging. Normally it takes no more than 5 tries. It even charges rapidly.
I currently use an anker charger that works as above, my previous charger, Aukey, also worked similarly. Strangely enough, it doesn't matter which end of the cable(usb-c or USB) is removed and reinserted to get the pixel c charging. This proves to me that it's not a bad connection.
I can confirm that the Anker aftermarket charger works great. When I plug in the Pixelbook charger into the Pixel C the tablet will charge but it will reboot android everytime.... Very annoying!

any brand cable with 3A (aliexpress) solve your problem
Hi to all
Here you have my experience with my second hand pixel c.
I have tested :
huawei 5v 2A , 9v quick charger Charging ok.
Apple ipad 18w charger. Charges it ok.
Anker 5 ports QC2.0 not charging.
Aliexpress QC 3.0 charges but makes some bad touch screen errors and ghost touchs. It is impossible to use Pixel c.
Huawei 5v 2A. Not charge
With charge i mean in the battery options icon i can see charging...
Thanks to all.

Extra Chargers?

Has anyone found any cheap chargers that can charge this phone like the Essential charger does (really fast)? I have bought two different chargers and neither of them can really even charge the phone. The lock screen says it's charging slowly, and the battery meter acts like it's charging, but it doesn't actually charge. The chargers were both Quick Charge 3.0 chargers too. None of my old phone chargers with a type-c adapter will charge the phone either.

Every charger I own will charge this phone. My Samsung, pixel, Motorola, etc usb type-c chargers will all work.

The phone requires a USB PD (Power Delivery) charger for rapid charging. It must have [email protected] and [email protected]
It doesn't support Qualcomm's Quick Charge.
I ordered this one and it rapid charges. It supports 5V/3A, 9V/3A, 15V/ 3A, 20V/2.25A

Thanks! Now, what about if I wanted it to just charge normally (not rapidly or slowly) for if if I wanted to leave it charging overnight? Don't think I need to spend the extra money on rapid chargers for that scenario...

No idea. Honestly, I don't know of anyone who consciously needs to control the speed of their charge. I avoid charging overnight by rapid charging during the day at work.
does it really need PD? they are kind of expensive and there are chargers out there with 5V, 6V, 9V, 12V @ 3A
e.g.:

Then why does the phone indicate it's rapidly charging when plugged into a QC 3.0 charger then?

I'm not sure how Android is programmed to display "Rapidly Charging", but I'm sure it's not by charging standard. Probably based on supplied power, but it definitely doesn't charge as fast as the stock charger. I noticed this with my QC chargers. It will say rapidly charging for a couple minutes and then just not charge at all or say charging slowly. Frustrating as hell so I bought an extra USB PD charger.
My Samsung chargers all work, and charge the phone to 100%. They just say charging, not quick charging, but whatever... The % goes up.

I ordered this. Won't be here for awhile though as it's coming from China. I brought the essential because it was cheap, might as well stick to the theme.

Yeah...it doesn't. I'm such a tool I assumed it did and bought two Ankar QC3 wall chargers and a Tronsmart QC3 car charger. None of them are able to charge the phone at all, says that it's charging slowly but doesn't seem as though it's charging at all.

Phone needs a charger with USB-C Power Delivery and not QC. Anker has at least one model and Incipio has one as well. There are many others on Amazon.. The cool thing about those is that they also change my XPS-13. Only carry one charger when I travel.
I've got a few QC 2/3 chargers and a few USB-C PD chargers and what I've found is that depending on which USB-C to USB-A makes a difference whether I get rapid charge or not.
I'm slowly converting over to USB-C to USB-C but it is stupid expensive for some things like the power packs with USB-C...
Anyway, try a few different cables and see if it works for you, also it seems to work a tiny bit better on the Oreo Beta however my QC 2.0 car charger doesn't charge as fast as it did on 7.1.1 but luckily the car chargers are the cheapest USB-C PD items to buy, roughly about the same price as a cable.
One last note, the same charger and cable don't always go into rapid charging mode so replugging the cable in sometime kicks in rapid mode for me.

Haven't tried it, but something like this with USB PD sounds like it would be good - https://www.amazon.co.uk/Charger-Delivery-Output-Adaptor-Samsung/dp/B01M2BLLVN/
I had my phone plugged into a regular USB jack on a car this weekend and the battery didn't charge at all
Alas, not available in the US...
