Can't install H3G firmware, keeps soft bricking my phone (SM-G920F) - Galaxy S6 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I have tried to install UK's Three firmware but it keeps failing after hidden.img, I can get my phone back by installing the BTU version (G920FXXU2COH2/G920FBTU2COH3/G920FXXU2COH2/G920FXXU2COH2). Why can't I install the H3G version (G920FXXU2BOG8/G920FH3G2BOG1/G920FXXU2BOGE/G920FXXU2BOG8) ? Will it make a difference if I install the H3G one with reception? WIll my reception inprove? The reason I want to do this is that my S4 has better reception than my S6, so I assume that maybe if I get the H3G version installed the reception will be better. I can't believe that my S4 has better reception.

Yes your reception could get better with a different baseband. But it's not necessary to flash a whole new stock rom for that. The BTU version uses OH2 baseband if I am right and the H3G version uses BOGE? So just find the BOGE modem and flash that

Excellent. I have installed that modem and will check it over the next few days. I know at work I used to get 1 bar of 4G on my Galaxy S4.

You can't install boge because of older version

Not sure what you mean by orlder version as it installed fine and rebooted and when I went to my settings it stated that the baseband is G920FFXXU2BOGE so I am sure it worked.

Convert G920F to G920I

I asked the other day about using the G920I modem on my G920F as to improve the poor reception on my phone. The next question I hope anyone can answer is would just converting the whole phone to a G920I using stock rom. The hardware in each phone is exactly the same especially the modem which is a samsung shannon. The only difference is the couple of different basebands but these are present in both varients of the modem just software locked. I cant see any reason as to why I could not do this but would like to hear if you have a take on this. Thanks. I have found threads with other people that seem to have managed it but everytime I flash the stock G920I rom it fails. Just wondering what Im missing.

G920I Firmwares SUCKS, i am stuck in 5.1.1 and its a horrible experience, i miss 5.0.2 :crying:
Im on G920F 5.1.1 custom rom and its excellent. I need the modem from the G920i as it addressed the poor reception issue. No such modem has been released yet for the G920F hence I want to change. Once on G920I i will install a custom rom anyway so all will be good.

Have you tried to flash the 920I modem? I think it may be possible to do so as they have the same baseband chip.
But I am not sure whether we can get back the original modem if the flashing failed. I used to have a Nexus 4. Even when I flashed a wrong radio, I can always get back by flashing the right one. It is just a partition with constant data on the device. But I don't know whether samsung is the same.
Flashing a complete stock rom maybe impossible. I think Odin checks the model name, and prevent the flashing if they don't match (Just guess).

Yeah I tried flashing the modem only but when odit checks the PIT it fails straight away. Did try flashing the full stock package but again no joy. Its annoying as people with G920i dont seem to be suffering the issues that the G920F has with poor cell signal. Its definately a phone issue as I am on my third one lol. Have flashed the brand new modem package that was released a couple of days ago but has mad no difference at all surprise surprise. I think your correct though as odin must check the model number before flashing. Hopefully a dev could come up with a way to bypass the check as like you say the modems and hardware are identical on both models. The only difference is a couple of basebands which from my research are only software locked anyway.
You cannot flash G920I modem to a G920F and vice-versa. They are not compatible.

Which baseband version for German S6 Edge to fix missing baseband with UniKernel v8?

Hello,
I have a S6 Edge (Vodafone Germany) and flashed the UniKernel v8-0002 COH9 and kept the stock firmware, the build number is G925FXXU2QOH8.
The phone doesn't recognize my SIM card. After some googling I have found out, that it could be related to the missing baseband version.
I have found out that the newest firmware uses G925FXXU2COH2 modem. I have downloaded and flashed it, but it doesn't change anything.
The baseband version is still unknown.
What did I miss?
QOH8 and COH2 are quite the same firmware. The only difference is that the QOH( is for branded Devices and COH" for unlocked devices without any branding but in Germany there is no such thing as branding. You most likely have an international variant.
Maybe you could try to flash the whole firmware, not only the modem.
Thanks for your fast reply. I found out that my efs partition is corrupted.

[G920-F] How to update to Marshmallow

Hi all,
I'm actually using Arter's Back-to-Note with Arter kernel.
The device is an Italian WIND branded one over I flashed first the ITV firmware to get rid of bloatware, then the H3G one for better compatibility with my carrier network and in the end some custom roms.
Now, I'd like to update to Marshmallow but I don't know which version to flash through Odin.
At the moment, I'm thinking about the Italian Vodafone one, the French unbranded one or the Cyprus one.
The main doubts are:
- If I need a particular PIT file to flash these firmware;
-Which is the best firmware to flash?;
-Is possible to downgrade to Lollipop then?
Hi, i'm Italian also, and i have your same phone branded Wind.
- i don't think you need a particular PIT file, because if it was necessarily, Odin had to ask for it when you passed from the branded rom to the ITV one. (i did the same, without the PIT file, and everything went fine).
- if you flash the french one, the SpO2 measuration in SHealth will doesn't work, if you don't use it, you can flash this one or the Vodafone one (i chose these ones because are the most nearly cities)
- i had read that you can downgrade, but i am not sure, i haven't tried it yet. i'm updating to Marshmallow, only because i've tried all but my signal doesn't work, i don't really like the Marshmallow TouchWiz, if the signal it's not gonna start working, i will downgrade

Weak cellular signal on g9035 in USA

Hello guys!
I live in the states and I get weak cellular signals most of the time. I have the exynos variant because i heard it has better ram management and battery. I have flashed the bootloader and modem BL_G930FXXU1BPIF and CP_G930FXXU1BPHJ and installed superman rom on it. I also flashed the csc for TMB because i use tmobile. So the problem is that I dont get good lte speed and the cellular signal is always low. Can i flash G930T modem on the exynos version or it will cause problem because G930T is the snapdragon variant?
Any help is appreciated!

I think it is only the bootloader that you have to be careful with. Try the modem - you can always ODIN back the CP above if you have issues.
PS - try this new CP/modem module - it has the new TMo LTE-A in it - over doubled my download speeds:

Come to think of it the modem may also be hardware specific, so the qualcom one will not go on your 930F.
I would search the threads here and in the US TMo threads to see which phone firmwares (by country) are working best over here on 930F/935F(I have seen some when I was considering getting a 935F or FD), and then download the full firmware and extract the CP from the one that works good and ODIN it.

Wrong carrier apps S7 Oreo

Hello peeps, i have installed the latest firmware for the SM-G930F from Belgium (G930FXXS3ERL4_G930FVFG3ERJF_PRO) but somehow the carrier apps from vodafone get installed when booting into the system even though the Proximus app should be installed... I have tried to reinstall it multiple time and still have the same outcome? had this problem with my S6 Edge in the past too but i fixed it somehow (I didn't fix it but it fixed itself tho XD)

There is only one reason this happens, the firmware is not an unbranded international version.
Complete waste of time messing about with Belgian, French,German version etc just Download the BTU firmware from sammobile or direct from Samsung. It's says United Kingdom but it's basically western Europe unbranded.

So if i download and install the BTU version what will be different rom the belgian software? Like i remember with my s4 i used to install BTU firmware all the time because there wasn't one for belgium, but didn't notice anything different with my sim card... so i hope this will be the same that i still have the functionallity like i had before i flashed custom roms

The BTU stock holds all the csc codes, base bands, network functions for all of the European region which means once it connects to the network in your country, it automatically detects which system files to use so you "don't notice anything different" than if you had installed country specific like Belgian.
There is always one stock which hold everything for a region, in Europe its the UK unbranded, generic, international, BTU version. It works everywhere in Europe.
okay so i've installed the btu version and it worked just fine, except it was a little slower and idk why. but when i tried to use mobile networks it wouldn't work so i checked my apn settings and my provider wasn't in there so i had to add it manually wich for me turned into an even slower experience on my phone... I really don't know what i did wrong or what happend, so is it possible to get a detailed instruction to flash the stock oreo rom? and also a how to for rooting stock oreo with magisk? because my guess would be that something went wrong when rooting

Hello well unfortunately Belgium isn't important enough country to have your own unbranded stock firmware.
APN settings should install automatically when you connect to mobile network in your country.
There is a specific guide to follow to root S7 on Oreo, please google and follow it exactly.
Also BTU is a stock Oreo ROM.
