Just wondering what versions of the phone will work on AT&T and what version is best? Wouldn't mind buying an international or unlocked model as they seem to get updates fastest and would use Qi instead of whatever the AT&T one uses. Any input appreciated.

Mine works perfectly on the AT&T network. No complaints at all.
I was meaning not the AT&T variant specifically though, Carrier IQ, locked, ****ty wireless charging standard and bloat galore.
I am currently with Verizon using a G2 on unlimited data, was thinking of buying an unlimited AT&T plan on eBay and switching now that Verizon will be throttling. I know AT&T throttles 2 but now that Verizon also does there's no reason to stick with them and their limited choice of phones, I would love to be able to use Nexus, OnePlus, Oppo and GPE phones instead of the locked down Verizon selection.

The att G3 comes with carrier IQ and the radio is not nearly as good as the other models. Also the att model does not have qi wireless charging so it is actually the worst model made.

Carrier IQ is easily removed, I have no problem with my radios and don't care about wireless charging. I'm happy with my device. If you don't like the att variant then don't get it. He asked which version works best on AT&T and I made a joke.

Carrier iQ is removable by annoying methods but that still makes it inferior which directly related to the Op's question. There is also a Radio fix by modding the build prop, that also makes it inferior which is directly related to the Op's question. The fact that you dont care about wireless charging doesn't mean that others dont or make the att version better, again, directly related to the Op's question.
The Op showed good sense asking that question as he obviously knew you can buy an unlocked version and use it on ATT network. I provided him with a good assessment of the product I am familiar with. I hope my comment helped the Op in his decision. Im quite happy with my phone now that I've finished modding it and am more than capable of choosing what phone I buy and didnt ask or need your help with product selection. Kthxbye

Cant say for sure. I havent personally tested it. The International version can be bought unlocked, T Moble offers many phones in unlocked versions and if they do on the G3 it appears from what ive read it may be better for some. It would depend on if you like Qi better than Power mat and if you're proficient at modding phones. If you are comfortable with rooting and tweak box as well as a bit of build prop edits, the Att d850 is fine. I already am invested in Qi so personally I just bought a 14 dollar Qi film and put it in the otterbox case I use and it works well with Qi.
One thing I havent checked into on the other versions is rotation locking as well. That is annoying to some as it is backwards from samsung and vanilla android. This is changeable in tweakbox though. The amount of bloat is kinda absurd on Att as well lol. There does seem to be a headphone jack issue with the Att version that I havent had on my own phone as well as the Auxiliary bug that seems to be across all variants but I cant say for sure. I have read about the headphone issue only related to Att and have not seen it in the other forums but I could have missed it..

The AT&T variant has an extra band. Not to say that it's a high use frequency, but I wouldn't want to need that band on the AT&T network when in a specific area and not have it.

Completely agree. When I was testing the One Plus One for a few days I could feel the difference traveling not having all of the bands on the AT&T network.
Well, I don't think I am going to go to AT&T now, I was thinking about buying a grandfathered unlimited plan but have since heard AT&T is extremely heavy handed in their throttling after ~5GBs and some people get speeds in the 0.5mbps range after the 5GB mark. For now will stick to Verizon and see how heavy handed their unlimited throttling will be once they activate it in October and go from there. Thanks for all the help though!

I can't say it is versus the Verizon version of the G 3 but there is a thread for this and some say their unlocked variant on att network gets better signal. I can tell you that in real world use and signal tested in comparison to the LG g pro on att network the signal on the G 3 is far worse than the G Pro so I pulled out my note 3 on Att network poped in the same sim card and did the same thing and the Note 3 was able to make a call where the G 3 can not in my low signal areas of my home. So far, after rooting and a few edits this is my only real issue with the G 3 and tolerable. Mine doesnt have lag issues anymore than other phones and I feel I get superb screen angles, clarity and battery life.

AT&T does not throttle the limited plans like your 10 gig plan. You are simply charged for your overage. The unlimited plans are throttled on a case by case basis. I've exceeded 20 gigs one month without throttling and have been throttled right at 5 gigs on others.
I have a Galaxy S5 and a Galaxy Note 3 and regularly swap my sim card between them and my G3 without degradation in performance.
The T-Mobile versions of Galaxy series phones are known to experience reduced data performance when used on the AT&T LTE network when compared to the AT&T variant. One could only assume the same for the T-Mobile LG G3 on the AT&T LTE network since it's missing one of AT&T's bands.

Yes. Just bought a qi film that plugs into the usb, it will sit under your protective case like a slip of paper but make sure to tape it down right over the battery. I dont see the listing on eBay atm but a top search in google found plenty. http://www.amazon.com/Universal-Wireless-Charging-Receiver-micro-USB/dp/B00H7FJX7M . Make sure you find one with the right head for our phone and also If I remember right rhere were a few different milliamp versions. Higher equals faster.
what I want to know is how do you buy a "grandfathered unlimited plan"
is this going to be available in the US and if so, does anyone know about carriers who will support/have it? I know, it was just announced last week, just curious if the rumor mill has been active yet?

I don't think this will be available in USA. But may if you buy it as an International phone for some $600+ this might work on AT&T. I need advice on the LTE data bands. I saw somewhere AT&T uses band 17 (700MHz) for LTE which I don't see in this phone. Not sure. But somewhere I have gut feeling this works with AT&T 100% right out of the box. Voice works for sure but data is what I doubt. I get 30Mbps download and 12 Mbps upload on my AT&T LG G2 here in Dallas Texas. Some times I get even more up to 50 Mbps download. Can Mate 7 (International) do the same?
Please suggest. Thanks in advance.

Yes Voice works for sure. But LTE bands not sure. T-mobile has AWS 12, 4, and 2 bands for LTE. My knowledge is limited only to so much. I don't see band 12 in the phones compatibility list. So can't tell if 4 and 2 are good enough.
Same goes for AT&T LTE bands (2,4, and 17). I don't see band 17 in the phones compatibility list. So can't tell if 4 and 2 are good enough for LTE. I too need an expert advice on this.
But the attached article above about Mate 2 in USA suggests the phone working with AT&T and T-mobile LTE bands. If Mate 2 can do it Mate 7 can do it too.

T-Mobile mostly use the 1700 (4) and 1900 (2) for 4G if I remember correctly. I don't think that the 700 (12) is up and running yet. I guess we'll have to wait until someone actually gets their hands on one and tries it for any real confirmation. But I have a strong suspicion that the AM7 will work on T-Mobile's network without any issue.
Huawei specifically released the Mate 2 in the US and included the bands for the US. So, don't assume unless it specifically lists the correct bands. Without full band support, I would not buy.

Agreed. I did read that they created GetHuawie.com specifically to sell the mate 2 to US customers. If they wanted to expand to the US with the Mate 2, I am "hoping" that it is a no-brainer that they will quickly do the same with the Mate 7 since that will surely be much more of a hit. Think about it this way, the longer we wait, the more issues will be surfaced in the initial release of this device. The wait shouldn't be too long, but the bootloader might become unlocked, a few ROMs get made for this, I see only positives in waiting for a US-compatible version.
The price may even go down because by then there will be more on the market by then.

Hey, no big deal. One thing the Mate2 did, at least for me, is made me realize, you don't need a super duper pixel screen and a screaming
processor to be a fast device. I came from a Note1, unlocked to the Mate2 and was blown away how good it actually is.
Clear bright screen, fast, responsive, no issues, even on JB4.3. I'm not a pixel peeper or one that tries to squeeze every drop of performance to make my benchmark scores look good. If it is stable and runs, it's good enough for me.
Unless the Mate7 has a similar price point to the Mate2 (which I doubt), I'll stick with the Mate2, even if the software doesn't get updated to 4.4
Heck, I left my note1 on 4.1.2 because it was STABLE.
right now for me it's either between the mate 7 and the new nexus that may or may not be coming out. Honestly while i slightly favor the Nexus line, i had a mate 2 for a while and was very satisfied with it especially the battery life. For me it's all about price, if there will be a release for the U.S and the price is right i'll wait for the mate 7 but if there is no info by the time the Nexus is said to come out then i might get that. Lost my mate 2 so i'm using burner phones at the moment. Saving my money for either or, i want the mate 7 more than the nexus but i'm almost sure that the mate 7 will cost more than it's predecessor.

Hi,
Which model version of the Honor X2 are you currently using on T-Mobile US. I really want either the P8MAX or Mediapad X2; don't really care about the 4G issue at this point but, if I can get 4G on T-Mobile, I'd be a happy camper. Especially now that I'm going to let my Verizon Unlimited Data Feature GOOOOOOOO the way of the Dodo Bird. I know that the Honor X2 is just the Chinese market iteration and that it's basically the same Mediapad X2 with a different model name but, any info would be useful, especially, what department at Huawei did you contact to render this support? And, how did they facilitate the process of unlocking the 4G LTE? I've tried contacting Huawei just to get information on these two devices and have gotten no one to shed any light on USA Network Band compatibility. It's a shame that, we, as American consumers have to be at the mercy of whatever contracts and agreements the carriers sign or enter into with manufacturers and OEMs; in this case, Samsung and i Apple control everything that comes into this country which really screams anti-trust (which no one cares about at this point).
Thanks

Which begs my question: U.S. network band(s) compatibility, is that a true hardware issue or is it merely the code that's written into the system that bars (no pun intended) the reception of the U.S. bands' frequencies?
I highly suspect it is the latter because, I hacked a Verizon DROID 3 a couple of years ago to work with ALL GSM networks, including T-Mobile U.S. and AT&T U.S., which prior to my hack, wouldn't even recognize either carrier's SIM, let alone register on their respective 2G/3G frequencies. Anyone familiar with the Verizon DROID 3 knows that, in the U.S., it was locked for CDMA use ONLY. I was able to do this by editing the build.prop, using code from the Chinese (or international) DROID 3 (aka XT883, Motorola Milestone).
Anyone?

Is this hspa+ 3G speeds or slower? The hspa+ should be 42mbps or 20something if it's the previous version.
Also gizok emailed me back saying they don't have mine in stock even though their website said they did, which is horse**** and the reason I ordered from them. So I'm grumpy and had them refund me. Hopefully that doesn't take as long as it took for them to realize they didn't have my item, which was like 2 weeks.
I then did another search and found this one, which is a better color and for cheaper so I'm not as grumpy now lol. Here's the listing if anyone else is looking for one:
http://www.ebay.com/itm/Huawei-P8-M...073189?hash=item33b233d425:g:stoAAOSwx-9WzfuZ
Just a tip to all, if you know you will not be getting LTE, just turn it off in the setting(preferred network) so that your phone does not waste battery searching for it.
I'm about to sell mine cause of lack of development on it granted its a big screen but other then that Huawei's in house o.s is less to be desired in my opinion if kirin chip was more dev friendly but Huawei is more like Samsung and keeping there code secret

So it's now official, after five phone calls and finally speaking with third tier T-Mobile tech support, I was told that my area was recently refarmed and I can no longer get 3G service with the 1900 band effectively making my X2 a brick capable of nothing more than Edge. Furthermore, he indicated to me that this is the way things will go into the future and eventually, T-Mobile will support nothing but 4G LTE service (bring your own device.... But not really.)
So where to go from here? I had heard on another forum that AT&T is still supporting 3G over band 1900; but I don't know if they allow you to bring your own phone to the party and I also don't know how long it will be until they themselves eliminate 3G service. Apart from that, I guess my quest is to still find the largest phone I can that will support 4G LTE data in the United States while continuing to hope and pray that Huawei gives us the present of a 7 inch premium phablet with US bands.
As always, I remain open to any other solutions anyone might have or any information that I'm unaware of. Today is a truly sad day for a guy who truly loved his mediapad X2 : (

Sorry to hear that about TMO. I have been pushing to move away from ATT because the prices don't compare. We moved to the "new" ATT unlimited plan and 5 phones run us $330/mo vs the previous $410/mo on their "discount" family plan. I too am sold on the X2 and I can't let it go. I don't see anything else like it out there. I considered Huawei's new 8-inch tablet but without a handset it would be tough to use on a daily basis. ATT still supports the 3G speeds, at least in the Kansas City area, but who knows if that will change. Several times they have changed something on their network and I have had to search and find new APN settings. There are a few alternatives that I've seen but none that can compete with the X2. If you see anything else, let me know.
Thanks!
Jim
Yep, they did the same in my area about 4 months ago.
The whole thing is terribly frustrating. Clearly there is a market (albeit small) for a seven inch phone, so why are we ignored? Blu made one with US 4G LTE bands but i hear it sucks and only has 1 gig of ram causing it to freeze every time you open an app. Posh made a nice 6.4 that I had for a while; but it was a refurb and call quality was terrible. Plus, they are very hard to find. Checked out the Lenovo Phab 2 line (6.4"), but I'm not impressed at all and the new Samsung Note looks like a dildo.
I just ordered an old (new stock) Galaxy Mega which I owned a few years ago and loved. ...but compared to the X2, it's a dwarf (guess I've been spoiled.) So at this point, I really have no other option but to try ATT (who I detest) for a month pre-paid to see if i can go back to getting consistent HSPA on my beloved X2.
I sure hope someone at some point wakes up and gives us what we need...but I ain't holding my breath.
I'm eagerly anticipating the Huawei Honor Note 9 because I feel it's the only device that will be comparable to our beloved X2. I check for new info everyday but so far nothing but some uncertain leaks from Chinese websites. Does anyone have any *new* info? Better yet a way for us loyalists to get much deserved discount would be nice.

Looks like the same deal as the X2 unless they release a US version:
https://www.gsmarena.com/huawei_honor_note_9-8799.php
According to this page (careful !!):
https://www.gsmarc.com/huawei/honor-note-9/
the LTE bands are LTE 2100, LTE 800, LTE 1800, LTE 2600, LTE 900, LTE 2300, LTE 2500, (VoLTE)
not so bad (for my country, only 700Mhz is missed)
But I'm a bit worried about the price of the phone
Just ordered this through Amazon. Looks promising and US bands too!!!!!

Let me know how you like it. It doesn't have band 12 on T-Mobile which sucks. I may have picked one of those up if it did. If you buy it directly through iRulu and use coupon code G3DEAL50 you'll get it for $149.99.

It could be my next toy to play around with as well. I loved the Mi Max. (which looks identical to the iRulu) I would give KingRoot a try to see if you can root it.

I tried KingRoot, Kingoroot, One Click Root and others. Nothing has worked so far. I saw that 149.99 deal but like the fact I got it in 2 days with free shipping and no tax from Amazon Prime and can return it for a full refund with free shipping back to them no question asked...

If those root options don't work then the phone most likely will never be rooted. I bought a ZTE Zmax Pro about 8 months back to use as a spare phone and that was never rooted so i'm sure the iRulu probably won't be.

Thanks for posting this! It actually looks really good especially for the price, except for the fact that the battery is 4300mAh and I suspect Li-on not Li-Po. The price point is 10/10 and is simply amazing.
I wonder if a discount will be available on the upcoming Huawei Honor Note 9 as well... It is supposed to be released Dec 6 or 20

Looks like a great phone...but I simply can't soak that kinda money into a phone that can't do LTE.

Never rooted a phone before...and not really sure why you would want to (probably best I don't know : )
The comment about the GPS scares me...and could potentially be deal breaker for me. But the rest of it seems livable. Not sure what led notification is either, but I figure if I don't know what it is, it probably won't matter to me that I don't have it. Otherwise, I went with Amazon because of their no hassle return. For me, that's worth every bit of 50 bucks on something I'm unsure of.
So after one day with the iRulu, my impressions are thus,
For me, this is in no way a replacement for my Media Pad X2. The build quality is just not there.
First, the good: this is the largest screen phone that I could find with the bands to receive 4G LTE in the United States. There are other larger ones such as the Posh L 700 and the 7 inch model made by Blu, but I don't think either of these phones can be taken seriously with their pitiful 1 GB of RAM.
Second, the phone works reasonably well. I was able to watch YouTube videos without difficulty and surf the web just fine. It was easy to load on applications and most things work as they should. Bluetooth was fine, easily connecting with both my car stereo and my laptop computer. In short, this is a decent low to middle tier phone; but it is NOT a Huawei.
The bad: As I was loading on applications, the phone did randomly restart; but this was only on one occasion, so I don't really consider it to be a big deal at this point.
Second: The GPS is as horrible as reported. I put it on for goofs navigating to work; and several times while driving down 95, the GPS had me somewhere in the middle of the woods. I don't think it would have caused me to miss turns; especially if I was using Google maps audio turn by turn directions; but generally speaking, it does not work as it is supposed to.
Third: at least for me, the phone seemed small. That half an inch screen size between this and the media pad really made a large difference to me. I guess I'm just used to my Huawei, and I like what I like. I also didn't find the phone aesthetically pleasing, which is not really a big deal to me; but it lacks the perfection in design of the MPX2.
Fourth and the biggie: is that I purchased this phone because it had 4G LTE bands in the United States. I used the thing all day long driving around the state of New Jersey; and not once did the phone indicate that I was receiving 4G LTE signal. As a matter of fact, I believe that I get a better signal on the AT&T network with the HSPA bands in the Huawei.
Unfortunately, for me, it's a bust. I will be returning this on Amazon and continue my quest for a mega screen phone that has LTE bands in the United States. One might ask why I am so hung up about LTE bands if I seem to be getting good Signal with the Huawei. It is because I have been told by people at AT&T that my days of enjoying my media pad are numbered; because they will soon be moving to a system similar to T-Mobile that will render the media pad useless. This so-called 5G technology will essentially render most manufacturer unlocked phones useless for some time until the technology catches up. Hopefully, it will take longer to accomplish this so-called feat of progress than it will take for some manufacturer to realize that there is a market for a high-end super screen phone in the United States.
Oh well.....
> I don't know if they allow you to bring your own phone
Yes, I use AT&T prepaid and brought my own phone. Also I'm paying $55/month with 10GB data. The service is of course throttled to what I believe is 15MBPs or something, but it's better service from the other resellers like Straight Talk that use the same towers.
The resellers appear to get low-tier service (I used to be on ST and have tried some others, with some terrible issues).
PLEASE SIGN:good::good::fingers-crossed::highfive:
It will be released in your market. Just give it some time.

Can you confirm this?
You do know that the petition means absolutely nothing. Unless you get a couple off million signatures, no one will even notice. If you want the device then import it. Just dont be surprised if not everything works.
I imported mine. It works just fine on tmobile and att.

I am thinking of doing the same. Where did you get it from and for how much in USD? Was shipping expensive?
PS: Been following all your videos on the u11 and u11+

I was lucky enough to have a friend pick it up at an HTC store and ship it to me directly. There seem to be a few people on eBay selling the phone already, but it'll probably be another 2-3 weeks before online retailers start selling the device.

could you start a small review thread, especially related to the battery life? thanks
have you had an U11 also? If so, how does the sound of the top/bottom boom speaker compare to that.
If it is compatible with all AT&T bands I might get one as well. What all carriers is the UK version fully compatible with in the US?
Query about TMO

Hi Nick
Can I ask a few questions?
I am considering importing the U11+ from Taiwan.
I am on TMO which uses these LTE Bands - 2, 4, 12, 66, 71
The U11, which I currently have has these - 2, 4, 12, 66
The U11+ only has these bands - 4, 12
Now, I used LTE Discovery and found that my phone was 90% on Band 4, with 2 and 12 used once in a while.
What are your thoughts on U11+ working fine for my use case? It does have Band 4, 12 but am worried the lack of other bands may create issues in some other locations.
It does have 1900 MHZ (Band 2) for 3G/2G, so I think if I go into an area which has Band 2, I can only get 3G speeds.
Hope I am not causing too much trouble.
Thanks
Nilesh
